I live in North Carolina and that actually bums me out that they couldn’t hear what you are there doing and give you a break telling you to take care of it. I get it needs to be done but wow it’s not like you are out there dumping things in the water or doing something way worse that your boat not being registered. Don’t let it discourage you there will always be something trying to take your mind off track and bring you down. Keep doing what you are doing it’s amazing.

Meagan you do realise that was more or less a "Get it Fixed ticket" right? She is required to issue a citation (he had multiple infractions) she gave him an out and it is only 50 bucks it cost less to actually get the registration done when he should have instead to blowing it off which he admitted to doing. He had at least three different infractions for operating a motor vehicle on the water without proof of ownership, the proof of registration that he must have on him, no visible identification numbers. The Officer could have easily turned that into a 2500 dollar ticket.

Pro tip: when gifted an item requiring registration like trailers, boats etc have the gifter do a handwritten “receipt” for one dollar. Both of you print and sign your name and date it. Ideally you’d have it notarized also. This provides you with paperwork to show when you go and have it registered.

    Solve your registration problem ASAP.
Prepare a receipt for the boat. Include the make, model, year and hull identification number (HIN)--located in the back, right corner of the boat.
Place the name of the charity on the receipt as the receiver of the property. Include the address and location as well to abide by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines. List yourself as the donator.
Write or type a value for the boat on the receipt as well. This is determined by using the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) book and locating the current market value based on the boat's specifications.
Complete a Power of Attorney for Vehicle Transactions. Visit your department of revenue to receive a copy of a pre-printed form.
Get a notary to witness the power of attorney and apply her seal. Give it to the charity when donating a boat in lieu of the boat title.
    Tip
Retain copies of the receipt and power of attorney for your records when reporting to the IRS.

The ticket is a bummer, but if the boat washes up on shore it would be nice to know if a search needs to be started. Just like the vehicle plates that are used to identify the vehicles.

Tomorrow’s another day. At least she was nice about it and although not cheap, not a super duper expensive ticket either. Maybe if she had been by herself and not with all those other officers things would have been different. Good work on your & Adam’s part anyway. See you on the next one!

They take their jobs very seriously! Which is a very good thing, BUT if she had known how awesome you guys are, and what yall do for the families of victims, she maybe wouldn't have..

They couldn't have been nicer or more professional but most people in the comments are outraged that they had the nerve to issue a simple fix it ticket for a vehicle that wasn't registered and hadn't been for 6 months. They don't know these guys from Adam, I thought they were extremely reasonable. It's always a bummer when you get caught, especially when you do such good work, but to hate on the cops for giving them an extremely low level ticket seems a bit much.

It's fair to say that "she has to earn her paycheck" doesn't mean that the fine money is literally her paycheck, merely that a part of her job, for which she receives a paycheck, is to issue fines. Ultimately though, that fine money goes into the pool of public funds from which public servants paychecks are paid. So either way, Nug was right 👍🏼

Much respect to you brother, I live NC law inforcment here is pretty sad, they are more concerned about taking ae much money from people than doing what is right, I spent a weekend in jail for driving without insurance,I evenshowed them a receipt when I payed it a few day earlier,it was a system error by the insurance company. 500 bail,500 tickets, 1000 tow fee and then tried to take my license for a year. I seen awp video with nick allen a 17 boy from Davison NC,made me sick how they treated the family and Jarrod and sam very ashamed our law enforcement in NC,I am a republican and love the the blue 💙 just so sad 😞

Apologies in advance for the lengthy post.
I've lived in East TN/West NC all my life, and I must say that our Law Enforcement agencies never fail to disappoint.
I live in a county of less than 42000 residents and we have a total of seven different law enforcement agencies with the same number of mayors and elected government officials for each little pocket of incorporated "town". In fact, the largest employer in the county is actually the county government, itself, with their LE officials being little more than hired thugs used to shake down people for the smallest of infractions. I'm currently 47yo, and I personally know no one that has ever received a warning. If you are stopped or detained, you are going to be given a citation. They especially like to hit out of state plates because they know citizens that live in other parts of the US will likely not be able or willing to return and contest the citation. It's not uncommon to see out of towners' vehicles being searched because someone reported a "suspicious vehicle", which is nothing more than a fishing trip disguised as a traffic stop.
Another facet to their organization hits business owners trying to set up shop in the county. The have what the call a "Partnership", which basically means that if you don't pay the introductory premium and follow up with annual "dues", guess what? Your business plans/permits don't get approved. The level of corruption is truly breathtaking. I have seen things that wouldn't be believed even if I were to post them. They can call themselves whatever they choose, but it is really nothing more than an organized crime syndicate.

It's a tyrannical law though. You don't have to register such a boat with the government in England.
You know the country you fought a civil war to escape because of tyrannical laws?
It's your property, it's not for commercial use, shouldn't have to register it at all.
What next, registering how many sofas you own with the government? How many tables you own. Push bikes. Skateboards.

      @@ukrainewarroom I'm embarrassed for you
You run a boat on the waterways in England, or out of any port, you have to fill out paperwork, surely you know that? And a registered Hull number saves a whole load of wasted time and effort for people looking for possible survivors if your boat turns up without you -

I live in Kinston and know that the area has suffered from many major hurricanes in the past 20+ years. I know Hurricane Fran and Bertha hit in 1996 shortly after Thomas disappear. Maybe his car got pushed down river some? Just a thought. Kinston is a major flood area and down town floods drastically when the river rises like that. There are markers at the Neuse Nature center near where you were searching that show how high the river has gotten.

Guys i've got a beach house near Myrtle, I want you all to know (as i go down there alot) the first thing i noticed when you got into the water was that the trees have dark lines around the bottoms, most of beaches are near swamps, Swamps are known to be shallow, plus when they flood they flood really bad, Some of the swamps ive driven next to are very very high (espeically near the lumber river and along NC 130 after whiteville). Just wanted to let you know that if a car was in a river near this area, it would most likely be right after a heavy rain/thunderstorm
