Corrie, great video of your epic flight. I could feel the anticipation of flight just before take-off, with that rumbling engine. I'm soooo glad you got the chance to experience this long-awaited flight. It sounds like you had a great experience. I didn't realize how quickly pilots have to lose altitude to get into that harbour! One concern I have though is that being a part of SAR, I'm used to hearing the pilots verbally go through check lists. Did they do this and you just cut out the footage, or was this skipped? And resting one's hands on the yoke is a good way to get sprained or even fractured wrists during turbulence. It isn't considered "best practices". Again, I'm probably biased with my SAR work, as we have a ton of safety procedures and check lists. We try to work bad habits out of the pilots we train. @@leftcoastcorrie - You started it out great, and right after the Take-Off, you identified the Cruise Ship Terminal with words at the bottom of the screen, and the Macaulay Point Pump Station, which was great. But from then on, there were no other words, such as identifying the Oak Bay Marina at 12:47, or the Royal Victoria Yacht Club at 14:27 so people get an idea of where they are on a map. Then Oak bay's Willows Beach at 16:30 (since you zoomed in on it), and which Golf Course is at 17:34, and identifying Clover Point at 19:00 and Beacon Hill Park at 19:20. Then the Craigdarroch Castle at 19:50, and the Gorge Waterway at 21:15 and another Golf Course at 21:35, and the Songhees at 21:50 and the Johnson Street Bridge, or the famous Christ Church Cathedral at 23:24, and the BC Legislative Buildings at 23:50. Unfortunately, a lot of time was wasted filming the dashboard of the plane... over and over and over, like at 24:50. Then the Gorge Waterway again at 25:50, a View of the Trans Canada Highway at 26:05, before turning to follow the Gorge at 26:33, slowly heading back down to the Inner Harbour to land at 28:00.
@MatthewFordVictoria, In your first comment you pointed out my flaws and faults and I acknowledged my flaws and faults. I replied with "Going forward, when I post a scenic video I will point out the landmarks, to the best of my ability." In your second comment you continue to point out my flaws and faults, only much more in depth. Why wasn't the first negative comment enough? I can't change a video once it's uploaded. I'm sorry you felt that a lot of time was wasted filming the dashboard. Any aviation enthusiast loves to see a dashboard and everything going on inside the cockpit. I was going to delete your second comment but decided to allow it because I need to get used to the belittling of know it alls. How was my filming? How was the audio? Did I hand hold my camera steady enough? As a rookie editor, I have a few videos I have made mistakes on, it's part of the learning process. @@leftcoastcorrie That's because the US did not want to follow Canada. Now if one looks at it. where are all Our G PS's, PC's programmed...Right US!! The awe came in I I can understand why too due to the Alaska Highway with so many books out there that were in miles, now they come up * Were now in kilometres, A point of interest is written for stopping, well how it goes...Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, where are We? That's how the Ah, or is it Awe? Spell it the way it sounds. That's what I was taught when in school. here's another one for Your Information The Phonetic Alphabet teaches K as keelo and L as leema. Correct pronouncing is Kilo & Lima. Remember the vowels..a,e,i.o.u & sometimes y. Look at the "I"(India) it's either I am or It is. O & top it off, kilovolts, kilogram, kilowatts. Why only one word? two words.. kilo is one word in front of everything else. You don't hear kilahgrams nor kilahwatts, do You? I learned that as a child even before Canada went metric as My Dad came from Finland to begin with.
@Astromechy, it's a bad habit the way I pronounce kilometre. I've had way worse habits than a mispronounced word, I can live with it. I'm sure it will happen again.
I usually have thick skin, but your second berating comment made me question why I bother some times. If you decide not to visit my channel again, I understand. If you are looking for perfection, you won't find it here. I'm afraid this half blind, half deaf, old gal with osteoporosis, simply does the best she can. That's it, that's all. Best....Corrie
The sightseeing tour we made was out of Sechelt, on a HA Beaver, with a lady pilot (she was not talkative, though). BTW we are Swiss, not Canadian.
Peter, I can well imagine the sightseeing tour out of Sechelt would have been stunning. It's on my to do list to fly to the Sunshine Coast for a little get away. My ambition is to travel and share my experiences, Switzerland would be on the agenda for sure. Thanks for your kind words and support, I am truly grateful. Best....Corrie
Grrrrrrrrrr!1 Kilahmeters!! NO NO! It's KIL - O - Meters!! Kilo means 1000. Meters means Distance. The "O' Does NOT change in the word KILO!!! By the way, very nice video. Always wonder what it sounded like on a Beaver.
@KensHobbies409, Ken, I'm sorry the way I pronounce kilometers bothers you. I say it the way I say it, and I've said it this way since we switched to metric in the early 70's. I sincerely hope you enjoyed this video. I put my heart and soul into the production of every video. It's true, I do make mistakes now and again. I hope you will continue to support my channel, I am truly grateful for your engagement and support, thank you. Best....Corrie
@@leftcoastcorrie That's because the US did not want to follow Canada. Now if one looks at it. where are all Our G
PS's, PC's programmed...Right US!!
@KensHobbies409, I appreciate the English lesson, you are absolutely correct. Best....Corrie
@@leftcoastcorrie I pronounce it both ways. It depends on the context or my mood. 🤣
@Astromechy, it's a bad habit the way I pronounce kilometre. I've had way worse habits than a mispronounced word, I can live with it. I'm sure it will happen again. I'll probably make more spelling mistakes too. It would be amazing to have an editor....some day. The most fun part about RUclips is chatting with amazing visitors to the lounge, and my camera in my hand. Best....Corrie
I know you want positive comments but I am wondering why you didn't label more landmarks such as Trial Island, Willows Beach, Clover Point, etc. I think it would really highlight the flight vs. a land drive along the waterfront. That is as positive as I can make this.
@thorntontarr2894, I totally agree with you, I should have written more about the landmarks. Once the edit is done I can't change it. Going forward, I will follow your positive suggestion. I appreciate your engagement, it is how I learn and grow. I will just have to do a re-do and go for another Beaver Ride and make sure it is more descriptive. I am truly grateful for your kind words, positive engagement and support, thank you. Best....Corrie
