Two firsts: first time watching your channel, and first time I laughed watching an overweight man dance. Nice build and nice pace to the vid. Thanks. Subbed.
Great build, the only thing I would improve is that I don't think the steering will hold up over time. If you ad two 8" discs between the upper and lower part. As long as you are going straight there wont be a problem but if you make sharp turns there will be a lot of bending force on one small bolt and some square tubing.
I've got an old 100# propane tank that I've been thinking about making a grill out of. It'd only have about a foot of depth if I went with a horizontal design like that, but it'd have a solid 4' of grille length. I like the big tire idea, too. As a blacksmith, I'd have to add some decorative scrolls and the like, but that'd be half the fun.
Did you use a Thrust Bearing to hold the steering in place. If your not sure what I'm talking about, look up Thrust Bearing and you will come across a bearing that looks like a washer. You would need 2 of them to work. one on top and one in between the 2 beams.
When you fire her up, do yourself a favor and leave the smoke stack wide open! That is just a weather cover, regulate the airflow at the firebox side only. Nice job!
Wow, not a single 'Damn it, Jordan' (other than your shirt) the whole vid. I like the camaraderie you show which is probably the norm in your shop. Nice videography, Sam. That was a very nice smoker. Nicely done, John & Jordan.
When the background applause kicks in…I was standing and applauding. When from behind me she says “wtf are you doing”. In all fairness, I was wearing a t-shirt (2 sizes too small)…that’s it. So it must of looked strange. Love the channel, love the energy. My time is valuable to me and I entrust a chunk of my free time(which is usually 4 hours between 5am and 9am) to you!
love it turned out very smokin hot. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Design on. Fab on. Weld on. Keep making. God bless. Stay squirrely.
Everything about this is awesome. That being said, the engineer in me says you should take a look at your swivel point where the wheels turn. Everything is beefy except that single bolt you have, and it will see quite a bit of bending load if you are moving the pit and hit against a curb or bump. I'd hate to see that beautiful piece of art take a nose-dive onto someone's foot. FYI, I have an air tank that I bought for almost exactly this build and I intend to "borrow" a bunch of your ideas... I don't hear "y'uns" very often. Good people 'round there...
I agree! Did a fantastic job on the smoker but a few upgrades would have it solid as a rock. Definitely need a bushing welded into that square tubing and a matching machined pin with a grease zerk or that thin wall square tubing will eventually wear and make it a pain to steer and move around. At the minimum if the bolt is kept I recommend welding the nut onto it. Constant vibration and turning motions will cause it to come loose and end badly. A thrust bearing on the swiveling surface would be an added plus!
Eating ribs....with a white hoodie on. Oh boy Jordan. Given how much metal you guys put in that thing you should have installed an electric motor in it.
This is my new favorite RUclips Channel. The content is great. The editing and production take it over the top. Glad I found *yinz (that hurts to type as a Bengals fan!).
Awesome job. Only thing I would have done different is make a better pivot for the front axle. Wouldn’t be too much more work but would be a lot stronger
Have the rear axle have a go kart sprocket and chain to electric motor. Run a two postion switch up to the handle with a kill switch. Have a small battery powering it. Makes it super easy to move.
Very nice! There are a few things I would do differently. Also, I won’t pay anyone money for a repurposed tank smoker, but I will definitely build one with all the online help! Great job!
Ridiculously overbuilt, oversized, and every other over______ word I can think of and... it's just so damn beautiful 😍 🤩🤯 It's a 97 on a scale of 1-10 and on the squirrelmometer hits all the way to level... 'MERICA!!🇺🇲 Awesome job 👏 👌💯👍
Looks great. My father did something similar with an old fuel barrel. We use it for family events. Only suggestion I would make is to the grill plates with a straight direction metal. We used the expanded metal as well and after multiple uses the diamond shape starts making it harder to pull the meat off
Critiques: 1.) I'm also a little concerned about the steering/pivot. I think you used a grade 8 bolt there, but personally like to see a little more support, think strut bars on a lifted truck. 2.) I think the grates are a little high. Do you have enough room to roast a large turkey or ham? If so great! With that being said, aside from the above, this is a SEXY build! I appreciate you kept the old sticker and manuf. tag, it adds to the charm. One last thing, you may want to condition the inside. Baste the hell out of the inside w/bacon fat an cook it. Do this 2-3 times and should be good to go. Nice job
Fantastic work, guys! Nicely done! 😃 I just don't know if I would have a big enough garage for that thing! 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊
Love the build fellas, awesome job!! Love Jocko as well. I’d be the same when talking with him lol. If you’re going to build something for Jocko then you have to do Goggins!!
Lol, I built my offset from old lawn roller and an old compressor. 2 ft by 4 ft lawn roller is the cook chamber and I cut an 80 gallon compressor tank down for the firebox. When it was all said and done I had under a hundred bucks in it. And now people want me to build some for them and they want to pay lol. I can build beautiful things out of "store-bought material" 😉
I don't know if you're never gonna build another one of these again but maybe using a laser level on another one time time would help you with getting straight line maked out for a cut across the end of the tank . I don't know if you had ever considered that approach instead of using a piece of string.
Laser level would be great, The shop we were in had no. level floors so i avoided any levels. BUT, we have moved since and i think because of that you are correct
Great looking pit!! thanx for the shoutout!
Squirrely AF! Love it.
Two firsts: first time watching your channel, and first time I laughed watching an overweight man dance. Nice build and nice pace to the vid. Thanks. Subbed.
My favorite woodworking channel gives a shoutout to my favorite bbq channel (Chud). Gonna be a good day.
7:47 “I just think it should be on the right” 😂 same! Idk why smokers with the fire box on the left bothers me so bad. It’s backwards!
“Make lumber prices cheap again” has got to be my favorite of your merch so far even though 2x4 are almost back down to what they used to be
WHY haven't I found your channel sooner??!!! Awesome stuff
Diggin' the fact that in one video you see the project completed and it's not hella long! Keep the squirreliness comin' boys!
Good job Jordan!
Appreciate it!
Love me some Chud’s BBQ and Aaron Franklin! Throwing lots of love to these Austin, TX boys! Great pit.
Great build, the only thing I would improve is that I don't think the steering will hold up over time.

Dammit Jordan......GREAT JOB!! Oh, you too John. Oh, and Sam the Cam Man too.
Might be time for a hoist and gantry setup............and hard hats.

That thing is massive! It was funny watching you trying to push it around the shop. Jordan killed it on the CNC 🔥
Its like watching a Lincoln commercial
Nice job! I like that you left the history and the "patina" in place
Man ! That is a gift from God, just to be able to build like that. 👊🏾✌🏾🙏🏾
Wow, not a single 'Damn it, Jordan' (other than your shirt) the whole vid. I like the camaraderie you show which is probably the norm in your shop. Nice videography, Sam. That was a very nice smoker. Nicely done, John & Jordan.
I actually shot this video 📹
@@jordanheider2662 Way to go, Jordan. You did awesome. All the way around!
Who needs a Yoder anyhow, all you need is a fully outfitted fab shop lol
Looks great! IF you have a problem with the grates being too hot near the fire box, you might consider a heat deflector under that part of the grates.
Welding wire, sparks and BBC sauce. Perfect recipe.
Lol.

Can we have more vids where Sam isn’t there and Jordan has to save the day? Your guys dynamic is hilarious. (Sorry Sam, we still love you)
love it turned out very smokin hot. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Design on. Fab on. Weld on. Keep making. God bless. Stay squirrely.

I lived in Conshohocken (Conshy), it outside of Philly. Cool PA history right there!!
Loved the Chuds BBQ shout out. Bradley is the best.
Eating ribs....with a white hoodie on. Oh boy Jordan. Given how much metal you guys put in that thing you should have installed an electric motor in it.
Jordan realy wanted to hahah
Motor and a seat so you cans drive it
Jordan gets the CNC cred! (I envy Jordan and the CNC shop).
Can I swear??? That was Mother Trucken Awesome 👏 guys !!!
Nice Shoutout to Chud, I love that guy!!!!!
Damnit Jordan, Ribs and a White Shirt? I'd look like a victim from Friday the 13th after a few ribs. lol
Came down to say it! What a mad lad!
Awesome build! Loved this one. I enjoy the metal fab stuff along with the woodworking.
Good video glad to see something new !!!
Do you have the pump still?
Hell yeah man, shout out to Conshohocken man that's where I grew up
I must have watched this video like 4 or 5 times now. So entertaining! I need to start watching more of your stuff.
Bout time you give Jordan some kudos.
Awesome! Maybe think about installing a ceiling hoist for these types of project? I’m jealous of your shop though!
Can you make a firebox lined with either fire or refractory bricks? Would love to see them results.
The Dammit Jordan shirts are gold
Do you need some kind of safety catch to prevent the lid slamming on a hand or finger when the lid is opened?
Dude has every tool known to man but has only made a metal box? it's just like 🔥 AWESOME TRUCK TV 🔥 With Mike Stacy 😀
1st upload in which Jordan didn't do something wrong? Don't get cocky kid!
I have never seen anything so over engineered and overbuilt in my life... I love it.
How thick did the air compressor tank end up being?
Great job fixing and re-tacking the hinges. 😏
Dammit Jordan that is sweet!
She’s a flamen beauty mate, nice job fella’s 😎🇦🇺
Nice! I got an old water heater tank that I turned into a smoker. Looks similar to this.
That's amazing that your ribs come off the smoker precut!
Best shirt ever, "DAMMIT JORDAN"!!!!!!!!!!!! 😂
I own the vertical twin of this. Same size and color. Also slated for a smoker or space capsule. I haven't decided.
Looks awesome!!
You guys have made some awesome stuff on this channel but this might be the coolest project yet
Awesome video. Keep going. Inspirational.
Really fun video and great build! Why do most people put the firebox door on the side instead of front that is so much more convenient?
Awesome grill build....even better Welding Shield.
Next episode mounting a 5HP motor to it?!?!?
John add a thermometer at the hot box end, and a drip can at the low end.
Have the rear axle have a go kart sprocket and chain to electric motor. Run a two postion switch up to the handle with a kill switch. Have a small battery powering it. Makes it super easy to move.
What type of insulation for the firebox was used?
Thanks
I want an off-road capable smoker! LOL! Big ass KING coil-overs and the whole nine! HAHA!
Very nice! There are a few things I would do differently. Also, I won’t pay anyone money for a repurposed tank smoker, but I will definitely build one with all the online help! Great job!
This is my favorite! You guys rocked it! Sam we missed you.
Ridiculously overbuilt, oversized, and every other over______ word I can think of and... it's just so damn beautiful 😍 🤩🤯
It's a 97 on a scale of 1-10 and on the squirrelmometer hits all the way to level... 'MERICA!!🇺🇲
Awesome job 👏 👌💯👍
You need to get yourselves a jib crane boys!
This is amazing.
And now I’m checking Facebook market for an old tank.
why you can build old oil barrel or gas tank ot many same cheap smoker, cost about20-50$ all tras yard parts and weld together thats it.
I love your edits 🤣😂
Looks great. My father did something similar with an old fuel barrel. We use it for family events. Only suggestion I would make is to the grill plates with a straight direction metal. We used the expanded metal as well and after multiple uses the diamond shape starts making it harder to pull the meat off
Elite craftsmanship, great work
What kind of safety glasses are those?
Conshohocken is right outside of Philly. Very cool town and everyone is very friendly
I live one town over from Conshohocken! SE PA. It was a big steel town back in the day, now it's a lot of hipsters
Critiques:

Nice job
Where did u get the wheels and hubs at?
I love these guys, work and fun in one. should weld temp handle to lift the tank around.
Thinking a portable rolling Gantry crane project should be in your near future.
Now that is beauty!
That Metallica type font spelling America ..⚡️ 🇺🇸 ⚡️ 👌
Looks great 👍
Fantastic work, guys! Nicely done! 😃
I just don't know if I would have a big enough garage for that thing! 😂
Anyway, stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊
Oh man this is soooo cool!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥
Another Great Build Guys!
Where did you get the golf cart axles? I hadn't thought of that and it looks like a great idea!
"I can't wait for for putting 25 hours in to sanding this rust" 🤣🤣🤣
Check you weekly hours on internet usage.
I bought that make lumber cheap again shirt so fast 🥵
Love the build fellas, awesome job!! Love Jocko as well. I’d be the same when talking with him lol. If you’re going to build something for Jocko then you have to do Goggins!!

What delicious ending Ribs😁
Anymore specs on the golf cart wheels? Nice Build

I think in celebration of making it over 1m subs you should do a new smoker build, 500 or 1000 gallon trailer maybe.
Is there any issue with the two golf cart wheels closest to the firebox? I’m concerned that they might get pretty hot?
Big toys for big boys, 👍 nice job.
That is a beautiful beast
Dammit Jordan!
