Tbh the foraging episodes are some of my favorites, even more than fishing for big lingcod and salmon.
Mine too
Hello first time subscriber here, from Perth Australia 🇦🇺
Mine too
Chum salmon are also sooo delicious to just dry in the sun and eat through the winter months, dipped in seal oil. That is how we traditionally eat it on Nunivak Island where my mother is from.
Taku literally filming the circle of life 👏💯
Yeah all he needed was the song playing in the background softly!🤣🤣
@TBL I was waiting for a sad song to play 😂
@@bsk8306 I wanted to hear "the circle of life" playing in the background!🤣🤣
You outdid yourself Taku with an A+ discovery documentary like scene at the river with all those salmon. Great job at explaining and edit/montage the music into it. Always love watching your content
Is that the same group of Salmon that swim all the way towards the Sacramento/American river ?
Chicken of the woods is one of, if not the most, protein packed mushrooms there are. All of the other ones are water, maybe a couple carbs, some vitamins and minerals. But COTW is straight up a plant meat. It's awesome. Cook thoroughly. You found some choice fruits! Great vid.
Thank you so much for sharing your Alaska trip like this. What an honor to see those salmon fulfilling their species goal. The natural world is such a beautiful system
that was beautiful :')
Vegan teacher is triggered
I had just found some chicken of the woods. Went on RUclips to see about identifications and cooking preperations. And you had just posted this video. What a lovely day!!!
Ayyy that’s lit I just learned about a year ago how to ID and eat them sooo tasty! I recommend this style way to cook em like pulled meat sauced or I also recommend breading them and frying them can make a chicken sandwich so tender! Much puck and peace on your mushroom travels friend!🙏🏼
The reason why this is my favorite catch and cook channel. Fishing lessons, Cooking lessons and Nature lessons. Go 1M subs!
Congate in advance
You made 15 minutes feel like an educational documentary somehow! Loved every second of it!
Great job explaining that those salmon don't go to waste but are a huge reason Alaska is such a beautiful place! Everyone should visit it one day
I'd like to go to Alaska one day. I think it would be cool go on a boating excursion through there. I'd like to go to British Columbia too, and if I can go to Alaska on the same trip, it'd be awesome. Alaska does look stunning. Cheers!
I like how you used your glasses to make it more clear! Great episode Taku!
Yes great video
I am new to your channel. I started watching after you did colab videos with Chef Hiro. My husband is a hunter and I stayed home with the kids. Now they are almost grown and I go out with him. I bought a nice camera and while he goes hunting I take pictures. I just bought a book about mushrooms in my area after watching this. Thank you for inspiring me. We are hoping to do more fishing and exploring this year.
The shots of the birds and salmon were brilliant!
I enjoyed that David Attenborough moment 😆👍🏼
Same as me enjoy watching
Haha yeah it was great
I tried 😅😆
Yes thank you! It's amazing watching you enjoy my great state!
The scene with the salmon and eagles was incredible.
I love the foraging episodes. I found my first chicken of the woods last night… 8.5 lbs!!!!!! People aren’t kidding when they say they taste like actual chicken.
chicken of the woods cooking advice; in this vid he still had them slimy and when eatin at that stage its pretty the same as eating a portabelo sandwich but if you cook them till they're dryer they get crispy and take on the texture of chicken waaay more with a little crunch. if you put butter or like him some sauce on them after that is peeerrrffecctt
Everything you see and feel out there, including rain, makes life wonderful. The mushrooms look heavenly.
Chicken of the woods! Something I didn’t expect to find when I moved up here but it’s everywhere. I’m currently sat in my backyard here in Sitka smoking some king salmon on a homemade smoker. Your smoked pink salmon video inspired me. Thanks!
Wow what an amazing sight. I am jealous of your Alaska trip but happy for you guys at the same time. Keep giving us great content Mr. and Lady Outdoor Chef!
Come visit us my friend! .
I have watched many many of your videos but this one truly hit the top of the list for me. You and Jocelyn make an incredible team, you are both very fortunate.
Of all the folks making videos, Taku I know you are finding the real beauty and adventure of that great land!
Soon the termination dust will start to fall and you will have to leave or be stuck.... are you driving back or taking the ferry?
Keep living the dream.
Love chicken of the woods! Got some chicken of the woods, black trumpets, and some chanterelles minors in the fridge right now all the way over in Pennsylvania! Production value on this footage is through the roof! Thanks for all the amazing content! Loving vicariously through you guys and your Alaska trip!
@6:00 was feeling like a historical nat geo moment, great video
The way you opined over the life cycle of the salmon was excellent and true. Probably some people didn't know that. The stunning beauty of life. And all the ecosystem benefits from it.
I’m not a vegetarian, but with this episode, theirs a first for everything
A couple days late, But I really enjoy your forage videos.👍🏻 Mushrooms, seaweeds, crabs, clams etc. solid
I know 500k subs is nothing to sneeze at, but it feels way below what you should have. Great content, thanks for sharing your trip!
I agree to this. Taku is way underated but his videos kept on improving and honestly, I just feel lucky I have something to watch on Wednesdays. GMT +8
Thanks man, I’ll keep trying!
Sometimes, I feel like one of those salmon when I'm at work. Thanks for sharing another amazing Alaska adventure.
Probably the best footage of nature you've ever shot. Excellent work! Looked like an episode of National Geographic! lol
This is amazing to see the beauty of nature
Omg I love everything about this video! Thanks for a great content and being so considerate for the viewers! Thanks for explaining the salmon cycle for us to understand more about the nature! Love you and Jocelyn!❤😍😁
Thats one hell of a score on Chicken of the woods! Yummm!
Getting my wild mushroom dreams coming true by watching your mushroom hunting vids! Such beautiful specimens!
Salmon are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing Taku and Jocelyn!
I love your channel. I live in Northern Humboldt County California on the Klamath river and it is eel, sturgeon and salmon time of the year as well as mushroom season as well. Keep up the awesome work you do, I totally admire your presentation as well as passion.
Beautiful footage, and the reverence of Taku for the salmon and the circle of life was stirring, affecting. Well done.
When passing through Washington head to the beach it is razor clam time.
You should have a fishing pole out with a crab snare . Great episodes!
Awesome find with the wild mushrooms. If you didn't catch any salmon, you got something else, and the way you prepared the mushrooms looked great. Cheers! #TakuTuesday ✌️
B Roll was epic, awesome video!
lol the Sunglasses on camera lens looked and worked better than you think ALSO BRILLIANT
I'm so happy your channel is really kicking off. Love the videos and always have.

This is the 3rd time this week that I have first heard of 'Chicken of the Woods' mushrooms. Thank you for showing us how to use and cook these..
Thank you for an awesome video! Truly, the circle of life, giving your life for the next generation. Having an ingrained navigation travelling thousands of miles with no guarantee that you'll get back to deliver the next generation. Amazing, stay safe and healthy!
So glad you are enjoying your trip here in Alaska. These videos are great.
Salmon are literally the coolest fish. I think its so amazing what they do within their life cycle.
Great video Taku ! What a Special find on those mushrooms, Dr. Kevin would have Loved those and the Awesome recipe. The series has been a Fun one , Can't wait for what's Next ! 💕🎣🚐🌟👍
My favorite way to eat chicken of the woods is in curry....more mushroom videos please, Ive been hunting them for years, and want to see more people join in on this hobby
Definitely will do more this season!
Those slow-mo nature shots were so good!
great footage, great editing! thanks for sharing this experience with us.
Perfect! I was just going to suggest featuring some of our diverse fall fungi, and here you are doing just that! So pleased you are enjoying your time here in
Alaska. You have done a wonderful job of showcasing why we love living here. It's moose season, so perhaps you can get in on that before heading south.
This was very moving. One of the videos I will remember for a long time. Thank you.
I like the mushroom episodes. thanks for the salmon lessons
Stoked to hear your coming to Alaska again. Cannot wait to see the adventures you get into. Definitely need more SHRIMP!
Wow, that seriously looks like chicken. Looks good 😊
It makes me wanna leave the crowd city after watching your video.

Collab with land shark outdoors. You guys are both some of the best catch and cooks in my book. You guys are both in Alaska. That would be awesome.
So now everyone's gonna have a camera with a polarized film; and I think that's fantastic!
Fantastic indeed
My favorite RUclipsrs 💯love you’re content
One of the best series on RUclips!

Dopest footage of the year bro awesome awesome meal.
I do a lot of foraging you can actually take the forest floor, clean leaves, small branches, berries etc. (All edible) and roast apples pears etc. It's beautiful has a delightful fragrance and taste . Try in video
another awesome video. looks amazing
Finally subscribed! I am immensely impressed by your approach. You are the reverse of a lot of youtubers. You're not a fisherman trying to figure out how to sell merchandise. You have a great talent and let stuff come to you! Also, you are the one guy I wouldn't want to get into a knife fight with, lol. I would end up getting served on shari rice. 🤣
Bro not gonna lie this is your best video ever! soo much effort! from taping wild life to cheffing! good job king!!
Definitely one of the best ways to eat Chicken of the Woods is the pulled pork way. Number one is chicken strips or nuggets. My kids love the nuggets.
you found so much COW in one place in the perfect condition! so young, tender, bug free, and beautiful! i've only ever found one in that condition and way smaller in my 6+ years of mushroom foraging. what a gift from nature, enjoy!
Great photography. Thanks.
Freaking amazing footage Taku, ya'll nailed it, outstanding, many thanks!
A lots of fish
So that is where all my fish are hiding this year xD Circle of life. Plenty of fish for bears
Really good video guys 👍🏼
The editing keeps on getting better and better!!
Liked the educational monologue, worthy of a spot on NatGeo.

Guess Taku really likes bbq sauce lol amazing video ty
Ahh man I'm supper Jelly.. I Love Just giving it a good sniff when ever I find some I see you do as well lol Good stuff..
Honestly. You have such hard Bob Ross Vibes the way you talk and soothe your Voice down and sound calming. It's like watching a Parallel Universe where Bob would've been an amazing Chef and painted with Food. And I don't mean to offend, you're amazing. Like literaly. I don't know I just see so much Influence and Love in this that it really makes me smile. Thank you for that.
Great stuff as always!!!
The wonders of nature ... it's chaotic, brilliant and totally incomprehensible to our feeble minds.
taku tuesday let’s GOO!
Every time I watch your videos, I want to drink an ice cold beer.
I love how you called them zombies
living the dream... great vid
