Can’t tell you how many games I’ve been in where the half the team is dead before we even hit the 10 minute mark. This should be mandatory viewing for anyone new coming to WOWSL.
Aaron sucks lol only thing I would dis agree with I like to reverse and turn my bb and get my guns turn ready for the direction I wanna go which gives me an idea where enemy is and where there going before I get spotted. I don't back up for miles just enough to get postioned in the direction I think I wanna go. Course every thing depends on spotting. Can't stress enough how important spotting is in this game its the most important aspect of the game.
It's soooo frustrating trying to play with so many people that have no idea what they're supposed to do. Videos like yours are GOLD bro so I really appreciate when guys like you do shit like this. Thank You
I would also like to add to 1b for DDs, just because your job is to capture the base/point doesn't mean you have to die there ("dying on the cross" as I say). Seen too many times where DDs get spotted then focused by enemy team and refuse to leave the capture point like they're a hard mounted turret or pill box. A A Ron has mentioned it before, when you get on the cap, turn around so incase you get spotted and need to escape, you can just Full Throttle it back to your side of the map instead of having to make a U-turn in front of half the enemy team while being spotted.
Good job keep it up! 😂 So frustrating to watch every match go badly. I actually got to play with you on my team the other day...I was a columbo and you were a Worcester. We won on 2 brothers...I had to take a screenshot of us being 1 and 2 on the team especially because I was 1...lol. Appreciate you trying to help the community I hope they are watching.
Great video. Best comment was the recommendation to play every class. This is by far the best way to understand strategy. When I started, I got really good at playing dd, but was I a good team mate, probably not. Now I am a much more rounded player.
as a destroyer main, counting on that team support is genuinely so depressing half the time. I wish I could physically drag BBs away from the map corners
Sadly these sorts of videos are needed, and thank you on behalf of the community for doing this. It's not that the player base is bad, it's more that it is largely unlearned. Since WeeGee has no intention of having anything IN the game to make players learn it and improve, then it falls to people like you to try. I mean do mediocre players spend more trying to "get gud" than the better players who can make Tech Tree ships "work"? - I dunno. Many players probably think they're "pretty ok" at this game, not realising that getting blown up broadside, yeeted early, gunned down in crossfires, while that may be common gameplay, is not actually GOOD gameplay. It's a horse and water scenario though, a player has got to WANT to improve to seek out CC videos, many don't bother. There will always be the "who cares, it's just a free shooter" cadre of players but many players may want to improve but don't know where to go. I think as a community we should all be directing newer players where possible, to videos like this. Great effort and thank you, Ronmeister!!
Tactics in this game are multi-dimensional. Encourage headset and mic usage. Encourage comms. Become one big Division. Divisions talk to each other and leave the rest of the team in the dark. Plenty of wasted tactics there. Good video.

Thanks A Ron, I've been playing for a long time but only able to play a few days a week and 2 hours or less at a time. I love the game, but I can't even dare to count the messages I get, "dude wtf?" Or "you piece of s#!t player, just quit!" Those are the nice ones. Inmessage back, not defending my play, but try to explain that I lack experience even though I have higher tier ships and have limited play time. Some understand and shut up, but I'd rather take the criticism and have someone teach, so I could learn what or where I should do or go. Thanks for clarification, I know some of these points but I'd definitely benefit from detailed single ship type videos. Thanks again for the video man, maybe I can be an asset in the future due to it!!
thanks! it certainly does NOT suck, great info. been at it for almost a year, i used to watch other players play so that I could 'learn' some things, but as it turns out i have to unlearn some of that.
Each of us has our own strategies and tactics and mine are not the ultimate end all be all but I win a lot more than I lose. Picking up things and learnings as you go is the best way to go about it
@@whereruaaronyeah, certainly true. your video pushes the way i feel it should go ideally. the biggest thing to me is never forgetting about the minimap, and adjusting your position and shot availability based on where your team is and where the red team is pushing.
Great video. I am not the best. But, certainly I am not the worst. I totally understand what you are saying. For the most part I do a lot of what you are teaching. Yet, sometimes the Vaquero in me comes out and I “Yippee ki-yay!!” In an effort to catch the opposing team off guard. Sometimes it works. Other times not. Like you. Hey man it happens, we all do every now and then but if you do it in a way advantageous for the team it works so much better than just blindly rushing in
Good to see some strategy videos! Many good points. Hammering in that this game is all about positioning and playing your ships role can never be done to much. Just one thing I don’t necessarily agree with. The complaints about cruiser versus battleships main battery ranges. I don’t think you should oblige to that. As you know (as you have said yourself in some videos) a good cruiser player will not put everything into range. 15-17km range (depending on the specific cruiser) is plenty. Meanwhile, BB’s at high tiers will generally have a range around 18-19km, sometimes even more. But more is not needed. Only bad BB players reversing to the back of the map and not positioning well will ask for (or need) more. I play both classes myself (and dd’s) and I’ve never had an issue with MB ranges in any ship types. I maintain that people who do have an issue with it, needs to learn how to play more actively (mainly positioning better and not sit idle at spawn or go for the back of the map while trying to fire at the reds who do the same on the other side).
I admire your dedication in trying to improve the players but... There s always a but... I don t know how many of the players will apply your tactics. Love your videos!
Situational awareness and retreating won us the game. Not retreating to the back of the map, but away from threats and towards objectives. Repeat 4 times and you have the map.
We all make mistakes, especially as new players There's plenty of youtubers around that will claim that they perhaps once or twice lost a game in AI mode and even then it was because of a bad team, because their BS doesn't stink. I've seen AI ships hitting 90° of the time, well ... if they aren't on your side. If you have AI ships on your side you can have ships that shoot left, right, before and behind a ship that is barely moving and does so in a straight line. The times that I try to be a teamplayer... only to end up being all by myself because the BB goes backwards and sticks to the side of the map, the DD doesn't move until 5 minutes in the game only to then be blasted out of the water and the CC starts firing constantly because he hasn't a clue that it gives away his position Anything that helps educate some people should be applauded. Keep up the good work.
aaron sucks jk lol but Its to bad WG doesnt promote vids like this to the general player base cuz a lot of people need to learn this type of stuff and it pisses me off that WG does nothing to help the problem unfortunately i feel the only way they would do that is if the game ends up on life support cuz to many guys like you and me quit so wargamming needs to do more for the player bases education of the game and worry less about money cuz at this rate of decay in player iq no one is gonna want to spend money on this game just to have to deal with idiots. As a DD player, at times I am guilty of trying to defend/take a contested cap and trying to kill the enemy DD in the first few minutes. Will try to back off more. Great video! Thanks.
You definitely should but don't sacrifice too much of your health for it! like if the enemy DD is not leaving and has support don't die trying to get it, does that make sense?
@@whereruaaron Took a calmer approach last night and smashed it winning five times in a row, first in the results table 4/5 times! I’ve never had such a good run with high scores. Cheers again.
I suspect many people play on a desk monitor or close up bedroom TV. But the mini map is too small for regular main TV use. Needs ability to scale up bigger and adjust translucent. These tips are tough to pull off when the vast majority of games are just a clockwise shuffle.
I’ve been strapped for time lately and have been running bureau dailies in AI, I’ve noticed the players there mimic the bad behaviors of the AI bots more often than not. I can’t help but wonder if a guide covering the differences in strategies between the two modes would be helpful
Question… what if you spawn near a cap and there’s only one destroyer in c cap and it’s just two battleship. I am a battle ship also. do we stay in a cap without having any spotting? Or is this a reason to leave the a cap area? Thanks
I've been playing this game since it came out on console. I only have 600 battles because I just can't seem to get into it. Granted I'm not a great player but I don't think I suck. My win rate is 57%. Is that fairly decent?
I ain’t even gonna lie, sometimes I’ll get a spawn on a certain map where the ship I’m in is fairly useless, at which point I knowingly play like crap and just get it over with.
So finally someone make some sence discussing the DD.s role now I hope 10 million DD players actually take note and WG help out by taking the consealmeant mod out of BB.s it might shock some players that they actually needs to stop backing up there BB.s to the end of the map being absolutley useless in the battle.Crusiers might even use there Radar to spot a DD and kill them.If this happen the game might even be fun to play.and for god sake do not abandon you spawn base play for helping the team.
@@whereruaaron Not really surprising to me. I don't see a ton of newer tutorial style videos out there so I think there's a good amount of people who like watching something that's not 3 years old
All of us probably fixate on the worst play of the class we main, so...I get the most eye twitches from seeing terrible dd play--zero spotting, not even pressuring caps, going on Gilligan's Island sightseeing tours along the map edge, but watching a cruiser and battleship sail off to the other side of the map, away from the cap we're right in front of makes me want to just say PHUCKET. It's great the game attracts people. Totally sucks so many don't want to learn the minimal basics.
A lot of players that make videos like this never mention a few things that matter. 1. Traveling angles to map design and opponent players along with team player access. 2. Leads to supportive stability from cruisers and battleships for DD's and objectives. 3. Firing sequences. 4. Maintaining flanks is more important than objectives in 1st 5 minutes of the game. 5. Range and distance parameters to fellow teammates 6. Creating false angles. Forcing opponents to make mistakes 7. DD's main objective in any game, objective game or non objective based game is to create a flow of the game. NOT TO CAPTURE 1ST. 8. Use of mics! There are a lot of more to this discussion. However, the above list needs to be dedicated to play.
I mentioned about half of these things in basic format. It's impossible to try and get advanced tactics to a player base that doesn't even comprehend staying on their own spawn
@whereruaaron it is hard to inform a player base that is like this. Fair enough. Not trying to contradict what you have done as I agree with about 95% of what you said.
Came looking for this video and several others because I’m frustrated with getting wiped out quickly, been trying to apply some of the strategies I’ve seen, and sometimes they seem a bit hit and miss… Guess I can only improve myself so much if my teammates are also getting themselves steamrolled by the enemy team…. Oh and when the carrier isn’t spotting anything 😫
Good video, my problem too often is that I go up to A in my dd, and my Cruiser and BB behind me are hiding behind the back island so I have no support at all while the enemy dd has full support from its radar Cruiser and BB! This game is getting less and less fun!!
Or you are getting better and better. Time to step up. Stepping up for me means knowing I have a great game plan but wrong timing, if I don't have the support, I go to plan B, C, D. These don't have to be big plans sometimes I ask myself what can I do for my team that only relies on me. Eg/ spotting ships screening for torpedos or assisting Bravo or Charlie team.
@@ligh7foo7 I am a somewhat ok player. I will do my best to spot, try to capture a base, and use torps to redirect the enemy away from the bases. But after a while what is the purpose of working so hard for your team when they are hiding back behind islands? Heck, I have even watched them just turn and run away from the area they spawned leaving me by myself! Another problem I have is that I am a little too aggressive at times. I don't want to hide behind an island I want to engage and play and that costs me at times and I take responsibility for those times. It just seems that there are way too many games when I am 1 on 4 and getting the snot blasted out of me and if there is a Carrier in the game he will make sure to hang over me spotting me for the whole game! I have been playing the game since the beginning and it is loosing its fun!!
I'm the dumoss your talking about but I'm learning. Thanks for the tips. I am posting some videos on my RUclips page you are welcome to use them as do's and don'ts for noobs videos. I've got thick skin.
At the end of the day it's just a game and people are going to play how they wanna play it might not make sense to you but it's not supposed too so relax and if they are playing awful in your opinion so be it if they are having fun then that's the main goal of playing a game so relax it will be okay
You're allowed to have that opinion but when the outcome of your game affects other players as well you have to follow a set of "guidelines" in order to support your fellow man
I never said I didn't agree with you I actually do enjoy your videos they are helpful but most players don't stay long-term which is sad people should kinda learn there strengths and weaknesses in the class of ship they command great vids.
Not to make excuses for poor team play, but I think a lot of the ‘poor players’ may be chasing mission objectives in campaigns, like obtain 20 capture defend ribbons or set 75 fires, and such. I know I’ve neglected team play in order to grind out mission objectives and tasks to gain currency towards promoting commanders and ship upgrades.
Aaron if u look at the arena picture when loading on the game for legendary it says IX for the tier I’m not saying it means anything but I’m not saying it doesn’t
I literally had a dd reverse behind me in B spawn and sit there. Meanwhile, the left flank folded the right flank retreated behind me in B. Hello crossfire!!! I finished with 2200xp the rest were 600xp and below on a loss 😢
Not sure why exactly, but these past two weeks I’ve been having some fantastic games. Maybe it’s because all of the potatoes are on the other team for a change 😂
The German BB mains tend not to understand that playing in a way to survive until the last 5 minutes of the game and then full pushing low health enemies seems to get more secondary hits and kills
I see you didn't talk about one class. Well, here's the most concise explanation of carriers there is: SPOT! You have the most maneuverable and fast spotting apparatus there is. Use it to find DDs,. There is nothing I love more than a carrier player who does nothing but spot the entirety of the enemy team all game. Sure, less xp, but the satisfaction from your team 2ill be worth it.
I was watching this video how ever...3 mins into the video I got hit with Domino Pizza ad....2 medium 2 topping pizzas etc... Also.....you said... "The enemy is forced to come into you." Quote of the year! *sighs*
when you come across a good cruiser player (in a higher tier)that supports DD, please don't hesitate to let me know. Heck, when you come across another player in the game that supports each other let me know(6.7.8.L) I have better games tier 4 and 5 than 6,7,8, and Legendary. I had a Kamakazie game the other day with 214k damage, kraken, and 3 caps with all the other stuff because the whole team I was in worked together and we mopped the floor with them. A vast portion play for themselves and they don't give a shit. People are people and they don't change.
I play radar cruisers at tier eight, had 20 odd games yesterday and had five wins because of this exact thing. Top scoring in ten of these games. Here's the joke, in most of the matches we had three to four destroyers.... Go figure..!!

RU A A Ron sucks...hahha Actually learned a lot as a new player. Great video!
Lmao thanks brudda
yeeeeesssssss. more of this. i neeeeeed more
thank you as always, destroyers are my weak point.
Good video sadly anyone getting sunk in 90 seconds isn't watching any warships videos.
lol
A lot of players that make videos like this never mention a few things that matter.
1. Traveling angles to map design and opponent players along with team player access.
2. Leads to supportive stability from cruisers and battleships for DD's and objectives.
3. Firing sequences.
4. Maintaining flanks is more important than objectives in 1st 5 minutes of the game.
5. Range and distance parameters to fellow teammates
6. Creating false angles. Forcing opponents to make mistakes
Came looking for this video and several others because I’m frustrated with getting wiped out quickly, been trying to apply some of the strategies I’ve seen, and sometimes they seem a bit hit and miss…
Guess I can only improve myself so much if my teammates are also getting themselves steamrolled by the enemy team…. Oh and when the carrier isn’t spotting anything 😫
Agreed that you can still lose following some of these. But sometimes, even a loss is fun if you do.
Oh no you are very correct
I know it's getting rough but please don't stop making videos about this game you're like one of the last ones😢
aAron, we should set up a regular schedule of training room games so ppl can get used to it.....
Aaron if u look at the arena picture when loading on the game for legendary it says IX for the tier I’m not saying it means anything but I’m not saying it doesn’t
90 seconds? There girl friends would love them to last that long....😂
I literally had a dd reverse behind me in B spawn and sit there.
Self improvement is an interesting concept; however I don’t think this player base appreciates it for the most part
I got to the point where I only play ai battles because my teammates are so bad
I see you didn't talk about one class. Well, here's the most concise explanation of carriers there is: SPOT! You have the most maneuverable and fast spotting apparatus there is. Use it to find DDs,. There is nothing I love more than a carrier player who does nothing but spot the entirety of the enemy team all game. Sure, less xp, but the satisfaction from your team 2ill be worth it.
How do I get my winrate up it’s at 47% it don’t matter what I do I can’t get it pass 47%
Like and comment.

Yes master 😂
I was watching this video how ever...3 mins into the video I got hit with Domino Pizza ad....2 medium 2 topping pizzas etc...
Also.....you said...
"The enemy is forced to come into you."
Quote of the year!
*sighs*
when you come across a good cruiser player (in a higher tier)that supports DD, please don't hesitate to let me know. People are people and they don't change.
sorry i forgot to tell you I admire what you're trying to do and it was an excellent video. later bro.

I feel like the insurgence os mobile players has a bit to do with the new poor player base.
What’s DPM?
Damage per minute, fast reload, etc.
I play radar cruisers at tier eight, had 20 odd games yesterday and had five wins because of this exact thing. Top scoring in ten of these games. Here's the joke, in most of the matches we had three to four destroyers.... Go figure..!!
Wait 90 seconds isn't fun? Damn, my wife has been lying all this time....😂
WHEEZE
I’m sorry. I’m going to link your video while I’m being toxic
