- The Beatles covered "Boys" on their first album released in the UK, Please Please Me. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios on February 11, 1963 in a single take, and is Ringo Starr's first recorded lead vocal with the Beatles. February 11 was a marathon day for the Beatles as they recorded 10 of the 14 tracks they needed for Please Please Me. The Beatles included two songs by the Shirelles on their first album: "Boys" and "Baby It's You."
The Beatles didn't concern themselves about possible homosexual undertones that go with singing a song about boys, although they altered the gender pronouns employed on the Shirelles' version (i.e. "My girl says when I kiss her lips..."). In an October 2005 Rolling Stone interview, Paul McCartney stated: "Any one of us could hold the audience. Ringo would do 'Boys', which was a fan favourite with the crowd. And it was great - though if you think about it, here's us doing a song and it was really a girls' song. 'I talk about boys now!' Or it was a gay song. But we never even listened. It's just a great song. I think that's one of the things about youth - you just don't give a shit. I love the innocence of those days." (The lyrics talk specifically about boys kissing girls, not each other.) "Boys" had always been the Beatles' 'drummer' song during their Cavern days, the drummer then being Pete Best. Coincidentally, Starr also sang this for his solo spot with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes; Cilla Black would sometimes join him on stage, sharing the same microphone. - Видеоклипы
"Alright George" love that part
They really were friends and it’s always great to see that
And George! What a footage, i really cry - so touching and like we are there and then ...
I know me too, it delivers the requirements they have of eachother
Me too!! 👍🥰
My favorite part. That lead on the studio version is perfect.
About 30 years ago I met Ringo and told him that I had been in love with him since I was in 2nd grade. He replied "I bet your mother was too! Still love Ringo1
ringo is smooth
Bruh AHAHAHA!
YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW
@@miguelmanzano3960 Nice. Bravo.
Ringo the smooth boi
Ringo is a smooth dude😎
That "Alright, George!" of Ringo, and then that George's smile and that happiness while he plays the guitar... is one of the most cute moment that I ever seen. I love them
Fantastic!
George is probably extremely happy to have his own mic for once
Hahaha lol
XD
i was gonna comment on that!
There was times when he did had his own but didnt use it
Hahahaha style at that times
1:53 John: *Makes a little jump*
The Audience: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Jajajajajajjaja
If you watch the videos from the Budokan shows (where they were so clearly done with touring), you can see them make strategically-placed waves and wiggles to make the audience scream over parts they knew didn't sound great live.
John: *breathes*
Audience: omg aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhAaAaAAaAAaaaAaaA
Playing the drums and singing and having that much energy?!?! I adore ringo
Ringo's hair flippity flip is flipping flipping fantastic.
Paul singing "Yeah yeah, Boys" while making those bluesy bass lines shows his mastery of bass playing.
Agree.
Truly though - you can see his fingers going absolutely nuts
flippin heck i didn't know ringo was that energetic!
Ringo is a good singer just like the rest of the Beatles
It wasn't that he didn't have a nice sounding voice, he had difficulties in holding a tune, so he sang in the band less.
Is something an idiot would say
Better singer than I am
JAJAJAJA, YA QUISIERAS
Ringo can sing well, he was the crooner of the group, that's why John gave him good night, good night which he did 25 years later when Disney redistributed the song, he also croons on only you.
It’s very hard to play drums that well and sing at the same time. You have to play the straight rhythm with all four limbs then use your voice to sing in and around the straight rhythm while being melodic. He’s insanely good.
was probably muscle memory for him at that point
Ringo did great on drums and vocals. he should've sung more often back then. but I guess things were still awesmazing when he only did drums
He was a background boy.
That's because back then people didn't think drummers can play the drums and sing at the same time. That is until Ringo showed and proved everyone wrong! 😉😏
I also think *(This is my thought and opinion only!)* John, Paul, and George wanted to be cautious about having the drummer to be shown to the audience like the guitarists after what happened with Pete Best. But knowing everyone loved them all, their amount of the spotlight stayed the same.
Ringo: Welll I talk about boys
George: Yey. B e M I n e R I n g o.
This was one of Ringo's best songs performed well here but even better on the Please, Please Me album where George's guitar section was better and more in key then he plays it here, live and yes just imagine you have John Lennon and Paul McCartney providing backing vocals for you. It can't get much better.
Kohl423 george was also backing vocals
It is. _Boys_ was actually my first song I ever listened to where Ringo Starr sung lead while developing to become a fan of The Beatles.
i love the way ringo flips his hair around! omg
What a damn honor to have John and Paul as second voices.
Treat them equally, dude : D
More when honor for them when lead is ringo
Nah an honour for ringo to sing lead
George also anyway
That's a great point - having those 2 as backup vocals (just makes ya smile).
1:42 Ringo going crazy!!
1:20 Oh!😂
Ahh ringo is just brilliant on this video .. just proves that the beatles were as good live as in the studio
My fav Beatle
Amo Ringo Starr
Me tooo
Me too (i am brazilian)
El mío también, incluso antes de que me guste la banda. Es como un perro, imposible no quererlo jajaja
This is why The Beatles are the legend bcos all of the members can sing very well
This is the Beatles having the most fun together, to be sure
As everyone is picking out their "favorite" Beatle try to remember these guys became close friend, learned life as young adults together and they worked as a team.
True words right there. When they were in Hamburg back in 1961 and Pete Best was their drummer, the boys knew Ringo more outside the music. He would even play the drums on nights when Pete couldn't make it.
Ringo even said in a podcast interview that John, Paul, and George were *(And still are)* like his brothers. 😍 💚💙🧡💖
They were so darn good. This is one of my favorite Beatle songs.
Fun fact: George Harrison was 19 at this time
He was 2 weeks shy of his 20th birthday.
No, this is in 1964 so he was 21. But he was 19 when they recorded the song in the studio.
@@wannes2888 that's right
Me 20 living with my mom and is lame
Fun fact: that’s just not true
Ringo : Meet my backing band ! John, Paul, George ! There pretty good you know !
@1:20 George smiles into the camera. Thank for that George.
Es tan bello 😍
Paul's backing voice here sounds like top tier of classic rock. Idk how to explain it's just sounds so classic and good. I love his voice whenever it's leading or backing so much.
my first childhood beatle record. this was tte b side to “i saw her standing there”. go Ringo!
I still can’t imagine how these guys played so well live without even hearing eachother!!!
They had several years of playing together before they were famous and could hear each other. Plus they were perfectionists, oh and they were brilliant savant musicians
I love Paul's 2nd voice here.
Right when I think the Beatles can’t get any more incredible I find this
Loving that Beatles font lol
I like the bop shuop 🤩
To think George was only 19 here. What a sweetheart💗💗💗
Of course the lyrics is about boys kissing girls. I am not sure everybody understood that. But is also showed four boys celebrating boys and that was not common at that time. The songs were a hit by a female group singing about boys. Then we see a male group also singing about boys. Though they changed the gender they kept the chorus stating they were talking about boys what a bundle of joy. That was great! They really broke a taboo. I adore they did it.
verdade
Paul McCartney: :)
John Lennon: :)
George Harrison: :D
Ringo Starr: :"D
The old times...
May John Lennon and George Harrison rest in peace. Also, let's hope that John's murderer never gets released from jail.
The way ringo bops his head while drumming is incredibly endearing and his floppy hair too :>
ringo interpreted this song very well, really sensational, really good 👍🏾
Id have loved to hear more songs like this from Ringo, its a great song, and its sung amazingly
Beautiful ,pure ,youthful energy in sync.Thankyou!
ringo yer rock!
Ringo can really wail on those vocals.
This video just made my day 10000000 times better
1:19 hello
Ringo's couple minutes of total fame ,and that's coming from a total Stones fan . Very nice Ringo 👍👍😎❗
The boys, the magicians, the legends! The Beatles❤
Great song. Love Ringo songs
Damn george is a fucking monster on that guitar
Don't worry my friend you are not the only one seeing this masterpiece in 2021
Ringo absolutely brilliant!
This video is in my favorites!
HAPPY 81ST BIRTHDAY SIR RICHARD "RINGO STARR" STARKEY!
I like the way McCartney sings yeah at the end of the Bop shuab
I like that GH never played solos the same way twice.
For me always the harmonies loved about the Beatles it was Paul's idea add
more harmonies to there songs so glad they did...
A prime example that simple is best
I always wondered what the "alright George" part was about
It's cause George does his guitar solo after Ringo sings that
There's another Ringo song where he hands it over to George. I think he says, "Play it George'. It might be What Goes On.
@@Firefoxy-rz1nw The song is "Honey Don't". Ringo says something like "C'mon George. Play for Ringo one time".
Ver Ringo cantando desse jeito levanta qualquer humor
Вот дал. Ринго😮 я в шоке
Com certeza. Esse vídeo me anima em qualquer dia triste
Thank you for sharing this ❤️
This song gave me loads of Nostalgia
GEORGE HARRISON GUITAR GOOD MAGNIFICO
Best song ever! Ringo is a 🐐
Esa pinche canción me eleva a otro universo
This is a joyful versión The Beatles with Ringo vocals are really Stars ♥️👏♥️👏 Love You Beatles!!!
Eso era algo que ningún otro grupo tenía,los 4 cantaban
Beatles ROCK! Thanks, boyher1.
great song
Dear God, I love them
The way he bops his hair is so cool and funny
Ringo forever!
Ringo Starr you can sing i never seen you sing until right now
Ringo cantando 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Rip George John
Tho every era, every decades have it's own trials and tribulations, but in my opinion, I would pick the 60's to last forever..Why?..Because The Beatles was in it..
All four could sing.
Ringo was the guy that made the Beatles.
I thought there's no video of these song.. Never too late 😅
Rock n roll !
The girls pee themselves when Lennon Lifts his left toward the end. 😂
1:24
George:Fuck you ringo I was vibin
Lovely.
I've always wondered how they came up with this song for Ringo. I mean it was originally a song sung by a girl group, explaining why they were talking about boys.
Fun fact. Ringo sang this song for years before he was in the Beatles. It was his signature song
You can tell why the rest of the Beatles preferred Ring o to Pete Best.
No offence to Pete , but Ringo was way ahead with him in the drumming skills . The swinging while drumming was an added bonus!
"ALRIGHT GEORGE YOU CAN STARRT YOUR SOLO NOW" 😂
George: *smiles* OH
Alright George!!!! Alright Ringo!!!!!!🥰
Bop shuop m'bop bop shuop
What a good r'n'r band they were!
This clip seems to be unique. I don’t think John always joined in on the backups for this song when they played it live. The backups sound extra rich compared to most recordings of this song that I’ve heard at least. 👌
I like boys too ringo
Given the Tenny this must be a bit later, it was George's main guitar in 65. Can anyone confirm the date this went to air.
1:04 Who screams that yeeeeeah
@Be Happy! I was thinking about Paul but I thought it might be John
It was definitely Paul.
[FULL HD]
Dig that bop shua bop bop shuop
2: 06 girl is my type. I mean the right one looool
1:24 shocked and upset joj
Ringo was the best singer of the four, and should've been allowed to sing lead on more songs than he did.
El solo de George es espectacular. Aguanten los 4 de Liverpool.
This is such is a rocker. I like seeing what all the Beatles doing on this with the live performance. I don't know if this is true or not, but I thought it was difficult singing while playing drums. Is this true? Are there any drummers who have an opinion about this? I do think Ringo''s voice is the best for this song. I do wish there was a video out there of him singing this when he was with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes as I'd like to compare the two versions.
Alright George!
The fucking Beatles!
