Steam cleaner will work well and can blow out areas that you can't reach without further disassembly. Brake cleaner will work great on oil based grime on the inside of the typewriter, just be sure to use it outside.

Simple Green is the go to. I have a 50/50 SG/water for general cleaning and a 100% bottle for grease.
