    This was the first show to appear on The History Channel. I had a party at my house because I wanted everyone to watch my show premiere but the channel wasn't being carried in Detroit yet. So I ran a VHS (remember those) at the same time while we popped some champagne. It was great fun.

    Fall 1960, I saw the Stingray race at Laguna Seca. Sterling Moss won overall in the rear engine Lotus 19, all the rest were front engine cars.

    • @willsco76
      @willsco76 5 лет назад +1

      And the sinkhole didn't stop the corvette museum. They restored 3 cars and display the damaged cars, put a clear foor over the sinkhole and it's attracted even more people. Now the corvette is entering it's 8th generation with a mid-engine platform.

    The funny thing is, Corvette was never the best handling, most powerful, or fastest American made car, and yet it was often believed to be all of those things and more. .

      The first great Corvette was the 57 with the fuel injected 283 or 283 with 2x4 induction. The last great Corvette was the 71 LS6

    • @jeremythompson9122

      My favorite Vette's are the 67 L88(only 20 ever made) and 69 ZL1(only 3 ever made). But the best looking Vette is the 57 in my opinion and the 57 fuelie is the first really great Corvette. But id still rather have a 57 T-Bird with the supercharged 312 Y-Block 300 horsepower F-Code engine

    • @paulsmith7315
      @paulsmith7315 5 лет назад

      Not sure what average buyer or average car is but when compared to an 80k pickup or SUV a Corvette is not out of line. Rather than being a hater find a great loe mileage used one and enjoy. Most Corvettes never get high mileage until they are much older

    • @tommissouri4871
      @tommissouri4871 5 лет назад +1

      It is all about priorities. Back in 1976, most used Corvettes were around $2500, and that was about 27 weeks at minimum wage pay. Today, you can buy nice C4 Corvettes $5000 to $9,000 and fair C5 Corvettes $6000 to $14,000. If you buy a nice used one for $9000, it will take about 27 weeks of minimum wage pay to get one, same as back then. Hopefully, you aren't earning minimum wage, so you can probably cut that time in half. And unlike back then, you don't have to pay the same for insurance as the car payment today.
      How much did you pay for the car you drive right now? More than $9000?

      how about an in depth history on John Delorian. Especially about all of the development that he did for GM, like the still born SOHC Pontiac v8s, Sprint SOHC 6s, the GTO which was supposed to have fuel injection and disc brakes which didn't due to competing head of Chevrolet.
