I’m a pretty new player to Arknights so hearing everyone say that it has the best story and lore in all of gacha when I literally couldn’t sit through the first 3 chapters has me wondering if the story picks up at some point. I give Genshin a lot of credit for how great the character development, world design, and archon quests are but I hope Arknights will give me a similar experience.
Yea, the story isn't as good in the first couple chapters. At chapter 6 is when the story picks up, and is what everyone means when they say it's good.
@@Tsunul not only gets better after ch 6 ,reunión arc (first 8 chapters) is just a very small part of the main plot,It only introduce main characters and offers a few hints ,also the side events make sense into the main plot when you realized where It goes.....ch9 and 10 showed the direction and the means, lets see if they can manage the pace to make It amazing.
Both the pro and con of arknights story is that basically most of the chapters (both main story and event) are 8 hours of fictional political issues in fictional countries. Arknights story are mostly diplomatical and the local governments of the region are usually also apart of the story in one way or another. This could be a pro if you're into these kinds of stories that shows what happens in the background, below the surface. And also if youre a sucker for details. This could also be a con if you're not willing to sacrifice 8 hours every 3 weeks just to watch people talk non-stop about politics and strategies.
For story as long it's enjoyable it's fine for me..... FGO might be best story for me since each chapter has it's own conflict but still connected to other chapter....
just get the popcorn and wait for the anime the entire story of arknights is just a big wall of text like a light novel first couple chapter are mid but once you are out of that then goodluck cause you just waste alot of time from the first chapter who will get adapted as a anime
In it's current state I'd already say the games a masterpiece, but Arknights looks to be getting better and better with every new event, so I can't wait to see how to game is in the future. Also I plan to be doing a Library Of Ruina stream today at 11:15pm est ( Also will do an is2 stream same time on Monday ), gonna go through the turbulence office mod, and probably some other mods I have on my stream backlog.
With the implementation of ISR (Redux) the Golden Age has returned to Arknights imho as it now feels complete not that it wasn't great before as I always found a way to have fun when the sanity run dry lol.
"it launched with the absolute worst marketing" me: what are you talking about? the PVs were great! (shows cringe mobile game ads) me: no! NOOOO! I FINALLY MANAGED TO FORGET THEM! WHYYYYYYYYY
We don't talk about the ads. The ads don't exist. You can't prove to me otherwise. That aside, Arknights is *the best* gacha game ever. It's the one that's kept me around from launch to 2.5 years later. And everything you mentioned: the story, the music, the gameplay, everything is amazing. One highlight is the characters and the Operator Records. Those are the best part about the writing of the game. I have seen many people go from not really caring about a character to absolutely caring for them because the Operator Records opened up a part of that character that is just so good, Like, I used to not really like Catapult, but her Operator Record made me love her.
Sure, not everyone's records are paragraphs worth of story and lore, but they still explain the characters very well. And their Operator Records are the best part of it all.
Video is spot on and it does not even bring up some of my favorite points like all the events becoming permanent after some time. So that way they arent exploiting the fomo and you can go back and read / play the older content. Really feels like a bro move from Hypergryph
Writing and localization improved dramatically at the R6 event, and remains so while Kal'tsit doesn't have a speaking role... As to the gacha, once you have solid units to cover lane holding, sweeping and boss killing, new units become a toy to mess with, not a necessity. For now, power creep, while worrying, is in check.
Eh I think it would be more accurate to say that powercreep has long since gotten out of hand, but it just hasn't mattered since HG balances their stages with lower rarity in mind. Surtr remains a broken boss deleter, Chalter mixes far too many forms of crowd control with absurd aoe damage with an ammo system, ling can solo like 90% of the game with her fusing stat wall dragons. None of them are necessary in any right which is why I say it doesn't matter, but it's undeniable that they make the game radically easier.
writing has it's better and worse moments. I liked Kjerag's story, it was absolutely great, but i don't think I've understood that much from Ling event. And while i'm not a native speaker and English can still be tricky, it felt like dialogs didnt click sometimes and characters just sounded very unnatural. Still, despite it, i really like the writing overall.
The power creep is wildly out of check. The newest super operator Ling, can solo all but a few missions in the game. A few others like Surtr, Kaltsit, and altered Chen are super OP too, but at least they can only dominate one lane at a time.
The worldbuilding, Lore and Story is really good, when i first saw patriot he had a interesting yet awesome design for a antagonist but i thought he was going to be bland evil character but once i read chapter 7 & 8 with the background and lore of him that has been released, he's now one of the most badass characters in the game and now one of my most favorite villains in fiction.
@@AquaticIdealist So whats the point of your comment then? As stated an antagonist isn't necessarily evil, thus not a villain. Just because someone is against you/ the protagonist doesn't make them evil, yea every gets that its kinda unnecessary to state
For me, The music is enough reason to play. And I already did. I started to play a couple of days ago. And then, Adding the characters, World, Lore, Gameplay. I love this game. I love it so much.
Word, heart of surging flame and picking the dude with his hands in the air with the EDM track was one of my all time favourite moments with AK soundtrack. The grind on the other hands... the rerun fixed it thankfully
I started playing again since my friends convinced me to pick it up again after a bit. The barrier to entry can be a bit tough to handle but it is fun to play when you come up with strategies (or look something up cause you are to lazy). It is a fun experience and the waifus are pretty top teir; Feater, Blacknight, and Deepcolor being my favorite designs. Also I got Ling on like my 40th pull so I'm set for a bit once I upgrade her lol.
i feel that even the limited banners are justified, they ops are not needed for any content, and with the amount of generosity they give us, it’s a way to get money to continue to do so.
Someone did a statistical analysis of the limited banner's rates and concluded that if you do 188 pulls you have a 95% chance of getting both new 6 stars from the banner. Little solace to the people that have gone over 200 or even to 300 before but I think it does highlight how much propaganda exists around the 300 guarantee and how much it gets overblown. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have a safety net but for 95% of the players it won't be necessary anyway.
@@ian59 welp, that 5% is a lie, just want to share my pain, on the ling/lee banner i did exactly 207 pulls, and i got 4 six stars, the sad part is, i got 4 offbanners
@@soma179 I think when you read 95% you're thinking 100%. With 95% it means that 5% of the time you will go beyond 188 pulls. Arknights has had 40 million downloads so there are probably hundreds of thousands of players that went past 188 pulls. I agree though it does suck when it happens.
Not to mention that on a long enough timeline, they eventually re-run, so you'll have a chance to get someone you may have missed (Nian/Dusk/Ling, etc).
@@garrettvenn9022 mhm. and you always know when you need to start saving to spark because: they only sell summer limited united during summer limited banners, and the other ones during reg limited banners. its on a 6 month schedule
I agree with everything that has been told! Arknights is something special to me and it keeps getting better with each new event and update that makes the game even better. All I need to hope is that the game can keep going on for years, especially for the free-to-play players as I know for a fact is possible as I have tried it and who have 6 different accounts. I appreciate this video that you have made fam! Keep up with more great content.
Very very good retrospective/analysis on the game! I like how there's a good balance of comedy funny as well as facts, and that you're not afraid to put all the pros and cons down! Been a dedicated dokutah and sat through most of the controversies as well as the very good parts of arknights, very satisfied of my journey so far and I'm ready for more to come! 🍻
I regret not downloading this game earlier, I first thought that it's gonna be boring but it's actually quite fun and challenging, losing my Sanity IRL as well because some levels are hard asf
I seriously slept through the first 3 or 4 chapters because it seemed like just another generic mobile game where the story doesn't matter. Dear god, was I wrong.
Ha, happy to see that my Pluma solo is a clip here. Excellent video, by the way- you've managed to capture the essence of why this game has had me hooked for for 2.5 years and counting in a better way than I could ever articulate myself.
If I saw those ads it might just slightly change my decision to play it lmao, good thing was, I saw the game trailer instead and it got me hooked instantly. And now I'm still playing the game for almost 2.5 years and still enjoying and loving it~ as for the gacha bit, its pretty generous. I may not have all the operators but I can survive the story/events just fine with the ones I have. I only purchase the monthly card as my little support to the game and its been pretty fun really; with the lore, the characters, the designs, the freaken amazing music, and everything else. 💕
1 thing i love about the writing is that characters feel very human, hypergryph seems to take a lot of inspiration from the real world in not only the world building but characters as well that helps create a familiar world and characters that you can easily empathize with
Funnily enough I got into the game about a month ago after checking out a bit of your contingency contract gameplay and thinking it looked pretty cool. Been really enjoying it so far and I think you're pretty spot on with all of your points (phantom's english voice has no right to sound this good).
On music? I was in camp "I don't play gacha games" up until Max0r's video which hit me with Operation Pyrite. I was so blown away by the spectacle I looked up the song, saw Asbestos for the first time, saw she was from a game called Arknights, and that's what pushed me to finally give the game a try.
I could be one of the pioneer or someone be called a veteran of a the game if I didn't quit being a doctor in 2020 (I remember it was Rainbow Siege 6 event or something until Rosa banner until I quitted). No one guided, I refused to watch some guides, or I did watch but I can't process anything (Arknights being my first try of gacha taste). I was stuck, chapter 2, the grind doesn't feel rewarding and I was just lvl 16-ish. It's 2021 around November or December, I met my cousin who's also a Doctor. He mentioned Ceobe as her favorite character in Arknights and that became my eye opener to remember the game Arknights again. I installed it for another time unexpectedly enough, I loved everything after that. The reason being was because I got Chen, one of the main characters in the story who I fell in love with. That's when have the courage to use my sanity to its utmost capacity and eventually trying to understand everything to lead my operators to victory. Looking at the past, I felt like Rhodes Island rescued me in 2020, which I can't comprehend anything after that. I can lead them to certain battles but was afraid and needed more rest. It took 1 year or so till I'm ready with Amiya being at my side every since. She kept saying, "Until you're ready, Doctor, all of us will wait for you." And to that, it wasn't too late to start again, and the beginning of wonderful journey.
For a tower defense game, HG and Yostar really put their effort on the music. Each of them can be a banger. From Heavy metal, hip hop, jazz, etc. One of the best things of AK, imo.
@@omgstoptakingnames CC#1 Operation Pyrite is prolly the best example, that song is fire. Then there's a couple songs by an in-world female metal band called Alive Until Sunset, look em up. And then there's also CC#7 Operation Pine Soot, which may not be "metal" but it's definitely rock.
Nice review, hits a lot of points in the head, I just disagree with the tower defense genre part, as I played TD since they got thought up in Blizzard editors, but that even reinforces how good Arknights is, because even thought I know so much of the genre Arknights still blows everything else out of the water, thanks to their creativity with new gameplay ideas.
I love tower defense, and anime-waifu so the game hits home for me. Is extremely F2P friendly, and is the only mobile game I played for more than 2 years. Truly a masterpiece.
I suggest starting espiecelly now since the new event is extremely new player friendly! This might be your last chance to obtain Ling the amazing dragon lady her self!
On top of all other things there's something I'd like to add. Some gacha games have this thing where you have a X amount of storage for characters before you have to for example fuse them together or just delete them and possibly earn some sort of currency as a result. However, in Arknights the game has no limitation how many characters you can collect and any duplicates are automatically converted into tokens that can increase the potential of your existing characters (up to potential 6), and after pot 6 you can exchange the rest of the tokens into a currency that can be used in the shop to buy various materials and in some cases even 5 and 6 star operators. I've played various gacha games and some of them may start with 100, 150 or maybe even 300 character limit but this includes all the duplicates or even characters purely meant for as upgrade materials so the amount of unique characters you can hold is typically a lot smaller unless you expand the limit with premium currency. For example, Azur Lane was my main mobile gacha at the time before I started Arknights back in 2020 but at that point I was already getting burnt out from AL for a various reasons, and one of them being how after every few stage clears I had to go back to get rid of low rarity ships I got from the stages because I couldn't continue playing the game if the limit was already full (fyi I had increased the limit quite a bit over the years). Starting Arknights after an experience like that was like a fresh air. "No more worrying about how many characters I have?" was like one of the main problems already solved among gacha games. "Dupes are automatically handled?" was great because I didn't have to see 10 or 20 of the same characters and wonder who I wanted to keep and which ones I wanted to get rid of. All I had was some tokens I could either use for potentials or exchange at the shop. It was as if my eyes had been opened how much convenient that system was compared to what I was used to. I think many of Arknights players have already used to this part of the game so much that we may forget it's not something every gacha game has and that things could be a lot worse. I just wanted to highlight this because I think it is one of the best Quality of Life improvements that Arknights has over some other gacha games. I'm well aware that not every gacha game has a limited amount of character space but I believe that many of them still do. Another thing I'm glad about is how clear the game is about how to get more gacha currency. In some gacha games there might be multiple pools running at the same time each using a different type of gacha currency and you may not even have a clear idea how or where to get it in the most efficient way. In Arknights the basic gacha currency is orundum that works on all banners. Additionally there are 1 and 10 headhunting permits. Anyway, the main point is that there aren't actually that many places to get orundum from (100 per a day from daily, 500 per a week from weekly mission and 1200 - 1800 per a week from annihilation) regularly which makes it easier to keep track of if you got all the orundum you can get. And all banners (well, aside from cheaper beginner banner that disappears when pulls are done) have equal values for pulls so you don't have to worry about things like "can you get more pulls on this banner or that banner". I like how that simplifies a lot of the gacha mechanics in a good way. These are two things I kind of wanted to highlight.
so your saying other games are doing the same thing cause thats what i am reading don't get me wrong arknight is probably more generous but like you said you fuse charecters to make them stronger or get a currency that can or cannot be used in some ways. whilst arknight just give you currency outright.
I started playing a lot of gacha games during the start for the pandemic (genshin, illusion connect, afk arena, guardian tales, Arknights and many more). Arknights is the only game I still play today religiously. The music, the gameplay, the character design, the story, everything is amazing!
i decided to come back into the game after probably more than 2 years of on and off relationship and I gotta say, they really upped the quality of everything in the game. Really happy about it. can't spend a lot of money on it...yet. But there's not a lot to spend it on since I was lucky enough to get the units that are basically foundations of a great account, and pulling Ling off of the free 10 pull made it a lot more worth.
Beside the occasional wrong grammars, I never had a single problem with the story's localization, every philosophical anecdote and quote are understandable if one has flexible sentence knowledge. I remember when some English-speaking CN fanboys were complaining about the potential misquotes and misinterpretation of Chinese proverbs for the initial release of the Who Is Real, but after it ended, I never heard anyone pointing out anything. What was the controversy of Heart of Surging Flames in 6:42 ? Would you kindly provide the names of the BGMs you used in the video? This is to help those who are not familiar with the music to track down and listen to them. More power on their music, I'd say.
I wasn't playing during HoSF but from what I heard people were upset at how needlessly complicated the event itself was. Also I'll have to add the music later as I'm about to sleep.
@@Tsunul I've never heard anything about, but is that it? While yes you need to understand the rewards/shop mechanics, I wouldn't say it's complicated. And it has pros where you can get more originite prime compared to events nowadays (because the amount of stages)
i was around from day one, HoSF controversy was the fact that you need to grind a stage to farm tix (currency) and this tix currency is used to grind another stage, which you can imagine is really grindy and annoying, i didn't had that much problem because I'm an emulator player and just background it but you require double the time to farm shit and the HoSF rewards were random in the infinite gacha the Controversy even has a follow up when the rerun happens because thorns banner happened, basically releasing a 6* in a rerun event instead of an original event, HG received massive backlash and made a public statement about it this is why there's no longer new 6* released in rerun events now i need to remind you, CN players are fanatics, so even a little thing can blow up
Even though the english writing and localization has improved over time, you still get those moments where it almost seems like characters are repeating themselves but using differrent words/sentences. Thankfully they seem to get rarer and rarer. I fear this might be a hurdle Arknights will always have because I'm not sure if there's even a good solution to this since this seems (to me) like English and Chinese just can't convey the same writing/story across in those areas unfortunately. Also Arknights actually has a music festival even to celebrate their music and even another one planned.
wow I didn't expect the "Gaspard de la Nuit" I paused the video I was questionning my existance as a french dokutah hearing french voice lines but with no french subtitles and voicepack...
When I played Arknights for the first time it seemed boring to me because I had never played Tower Defense and I didn't see the action, but now, after two years of playing, I can say that Arknights is one of my favorite games of all time. The waifus, the music, the gameplay, the story, the design of the menus and soundtracks, the friendly gacha, for me a 10/10.
Millisecond I hear the release was in Jan 2022 3 secs I genuinely jumped when I heard what you said, I've been playing for 2 years at point and the second I heard that I immediatly knew it was incorrect, still good video
Trueeeee this game is the true f2p. U can play premium, but its optional and u can still enjoy it f2p. Really need to applause the dev team maintaining the game balance as it is and keep the game fresh with new mechanic once in a while
3 downside of ak 1.you became maso 2.you feel so much pain farming same map over and over just to get mat for your chars 3.you have to wait for many months more before the cn skip run weekly ori farm happens on english server
HG never said they'd have 2 limited banners a year that was CN assuming based on year of review type roadmp thing they had made during ani iirc. Also I do hate how limited banners have two 6* I wish they'd stop and just do two banners. They stopped doing the double 5* only banners for similar reasons (beeswax chiive, abestos deer mommy)
I played arknights for a year but quit when I didn't get Mudrock after getting 4 copies of whatever the other operator was. But your video inspired me to download it agian, thanks !
It's worth noting that the very first sentence has an error -- it says "Arknights had its global release back in January 2022" -- but the game released Globally on January 16, 2020. China version released 2019. I'm sure most people are aware of this, but just in case anyone saw the video and misunderstood/was misled, there you go
I start playing arknights because of my friend recommendation 3 monts ago, on Nearl Light event, and now its my favorite mobile game of all time, and i play a lot of mobile games, more than usual user. Story, worldbuliding, characters, gameplay, music, design, from art to interface detailes, this is all great, in this f2p mobile game developers put more effort, than big studios like Ubisoft or EA puts in their huge AAA projects. I fell in love to arknights and this is serious.
I can agree that the story feels like it drags on, especially Near Light and Chapter 8. I'm am also annoyed with the sheer number of typos and grammar errors I see in here compared to other games like this. Seriously, it sometimes feels like there isnt a single person on the translation team who has English as their first language. Still, it's just a minor gripe, and I really do still love the game.
I only have 2 gacha games on my phone, arknigths and PGR... I wouldn't trade these two for anything! It's good to see that you're enjoying the game so far xD
I would say the biggest barrier to player retention is the new player experience. The amount of resources they hand out at the start of the game can't keep up with the increasingly larger number of unique operators, and events stages difficulty tuning have been steadily ramping up so you need more E2 operators than in the past.
i got ling after 120 pulls :D, i was new player, constantly hearing about her so i saved a humongous amount for her. my favorite part of this game, or atleast as far as ive experienced, since im very new, is that almost every operator is very useful in its own right so while you can have your meta good against everything squad, you will have plenty of options to help you clear dificult stages. which is another part i like, u need strategy and going unga its for the most part not going to work. while that may sound a bit hard the auto-deploy also lets you farm with ease once you get there. and thats about gameplay, the only complaint would be that it may be a bit hard for a newcomer , or maybe im just dum. but now theres the story...... and the music...... sweet jesus imma blow up its so amazingly good, like that took me so off-guard. i was expecting yet another boring grind heavy waifu gacha but got a dark super interesting story and amazing soundtrack, just wow. also 0:55 as a costa rican, that hit hard but its very true im sorry if someone experienced that.
You didn't mention one crucial detail - almost all past events are available for replay at any time. So people who started playing later won't miss out on years of content. Contrast that to games like Genshin or Honkai Impact, where you do miss years worth of content and storylines.
One thing that i think should be mentioned is how good the characters are. Not only do you get decently looking character (Aka not female with oversized tits wearing super sexy outfit), these character also have all kind of interesting and compelling story and personality. It ranges all the way from a little girl bravely facing her life with an incurable disease and away from her family to a nobble ex school council president who's been held hostage by terrorist and has seen thing that'll scar her for life and include your share of sweet, light and funny character like a cute girl offering you a rock she found during one of her research trip. And the cherry on the cake, you also have awesome male character with just as much diversity.
Theory: Kinda like real life, It is not that there are few men in Terra but guys are too tough to see a doctor (aka rhodes island). "Hey that infection looks bad, you should see a doctor?" "I'M A MAN, I will tough it out, screw seeing a doctor."
I was already loving the video big time and then we got to the Summer Event Controversy you mentioned and I could hear Bury The Light playing behind with the DMC S/SS/SSS on the side and I just lost my shit xDDDDDD 10/10, brilliant material, thank you for making and sharing this video, mate. Made my day!
Actually making it 4 times a year is so big brain, it actually balances the schedules of Global and CN, we get a perfect 6 month delay to save while having an upcoming big event to enioy.
For the record, Hypergryph never said we'd get 2 limited banners per year. They actually never specified any number. The misunderstanding came from them publishing a timeline chart detailing the limited events of that year and it only having 3 entries, instead of the 4 we know we now have with Summer. The players looked at this chart and ran with the interpretation that we'd only have 3 per year, but it was never explicitly specified that there wouldn't be more. Just lettin ya know.
my only regret is not starting since launch even tho i downloaded the app back then and even created my account. ive been a player since rosmontis banner and have logged in every single day
One warning to give and always scream at every new player: 4 and 3 stars are the way to go for a very long time, DON'T fall for the bullshit of trying to go for the shiny new characters they show you, and don't invest into a 5-star without research, because that's how this game will ruin it's experience for you. And most of all: Don't. Try. Limited. Banners. Not unless you are HARD invested and want to waste weeks and months of saving up beforehand and constantly keeping your ear to the ground for chinese client news.
Honestly, I'm quite thankful with the ads shown on late of 2019 coz it was the reason I gave it a go in the first place: it kept popping up on a game I was playing back then
Literally the number one reason I play Arknights after almost 3 years is that, it’s clear that Yostar actually cares about the game and puts passion into it.
Integrated Strategies has been a game changer for lategame engagement with the game. It is the perfect fit and I never knew how much we needed it until we got it. That villain character you show when you talk about em went from "I don't care about her" to "best character of the game" mad fast once her arc started. The localization being a dice roll per arc/event is a bummer. Sometimes its not even easy to pinpoint what the issue is but its noticable that at some point the writing just gets a lot snappier. Near Light was another huge jump for the better I think. That felt way smoother to read and not as much people being aggressively vague and indirect so it was way easier to follow along. I have a bit of a hope now that they have more english voiced lines and thus more english speaking people working on parts of the game, that this will have a knock-on effect and fix up some of the more janky parts. Like some operators have lines or profiles with errors or questionable sentences, and if they get voiced in english those sentences will ahve to be fixed... right?
Arknights and Hypergryph are almost same as LoL and Riot Games were on their best days for me. They playing long term, make everyone happy and entertained and leave purchases as a choice, not really forcing anything. Becoming an adult i don't really have time and passion to play pvp and i'm happy that friend introduced Arknights to me, which makes me feel same happy and entertained as LoL did (great art, music, fun gameplay, endless things to try).
ive recently played this game in response to the new AK anime and my thoughts over the game are honestly way more positive than i thought. The biggest praise i can give are definitely the gameplay and ost, i already enjoyed TDs but this escalated the experience to be a fast moving game where stages become volatile and need flexibility, and the more thinking style gameplay fits my style like GFLs more strategic chess perspective in game. OSTs not even a question i can listen to that thing during any circumstance and would be in visual bliss, my favorite one this year is probably between Gavialter and Penances theme. The downside is definitely the writing for me. incomparison to how deep the world is in building its races to the complex scenarios each nation has, i found the dialogue writing to be the most dull due to how at times every character can speak like kal'tsit and at times i couldnt care for the situation due to the lengthened dialogue, from Ch0 to 7-1, i only fully paid attention for 0, 1, 3, and 6, whilst the rest felt long so i sped read it to get proper context. Granted they definitely improved from the recent Lingering Echoes event and im looking forward to Il Siracusano, as Lingering Echoes gave me a close feeling to GFLs recent halloween story (a genuine understatement how a seasonal event can have such a great story). Ingeneral im staying with this game solely for the gameplay and future events, never felt pressured monetarily and as of now got solid pulls (top op bagpipe, gavialter, poz, old well). My favorite characters are probably kal'tsit, blaze, and ironically enough faust (since i felt their story with mephisto whilst not as strong as frostnova, his whole interaction caught me back to the story even if they couldve executed it better than pity flashbacks for mephisto just before fausts death). The game itself has the best gameplay execution and loop for a gacha game whilst also being born because of daddy Yuzhong and MICA team, so automatic lowlight/10.
As a day 1 player, I initially came for the cool/dark character designs (Lappland) but stayed for that as well as it’s addictive gameplay and *more importantly,* its amazingly deep story/lore/world building! I don’t think any other mobile game comes even close to the latter except maybe FGO lol I played many types of Gachas but Arknights has become my all-time favorite. Every time they release a new story, I am always deeply invested into it. Every time they release a new character, it adds new gameplay to spice things up. Every time they release new music, it’s on repeat for the next month or so. It’s also important to mention that Hypergryph is extremely generous. They care more about their playerbase and the creative direction of their game more than most developers out there. I’m actively trying to get more people into this game so this video is definitely one that I’ll start recommending for those interested ^^
0:20 Finally someone brings this up. I had pre-registered to try it and the app was on my phone, but I got an insanely cringeworthy ad for it randomly on YT, and immediately decided to uninstall instead.
I was an avid Plants vs Zombies fan, and when I heard Arknights has similar gameplay, I tried it out and never stop playing since! I just love how it wasn’t a glorified waifu collecting game and has an equal amount of great husbandos as well. The gameplay’s actually amazing as well
I've been playing this since the beginning (though I late for almost one month because I didn't receive notification that the game is already released) this game is among my favorites mobile games.
Funny enough, I discovered this game because of OSU. I played a beatmap called boiling blood and it was the hypest beatmap I've ever heard in OSU. That's how good Arknights music is. Now I'm a 2.5 year player and amazing content keeps going. I feel like this is the most f2p gacha game there is cause I haven't spent anything. but the wwf to support the cause.. The only downside is I'm close to running out of storage.
Literally got Ling a few days ago, then another one after that, and as someone who followed Arknights for a long time, and only getting back to it recently, this game is just on point.
FGO might be best story for me since each chapter has it's own conflict but still connected to other chapter....
just get the popcorn and wait for the anime
the entire story of arknights is just a big wall of text like a light novel
first couple chapter are mid but once you are out of that then goodluck cause you just waste alot of time from the first chapter who will get adapted as a anime
One error right at the beginning, the Global release was not 1.2022, but 1.2020.

Legit the only thing I hate about this game is the fucking ads
That one guy who slurped after seeing Siege still lives rent free in my head and I can't get it out.
This! Hypergryph treats every character equally no matter the rarity, each getting pages' worth of biography, voice lines and a story record to boot
Sure, not everyone's records are paragraphs worth of story and lore, but they still explain the characters very well. And their Operator Records are the best part of it all.
The only ad I see is the Invitation to wine ad and Cesith pulling Surtr.
@@ayanu8962 Oh god, they're still out there...
@@Madcat1331 Oh no its more normal now like what the rewards you get and pulling.
Video is spot on and it does not even bring up some of my favorite points like all the events becoming permanent after some time. So that way they arent exploiting the fomo and you can go back and read / play the older content. Really feels like a bro move from Hypergryph
Facts. And if you’re not a veteran player you can grind all the event stages for like 80+ OP. Chad move from Hypergryph for sure.
Still, despite it, i really like the writing overall.
someone didn't listen to Ling words
@@Telimency yeah the ending was kinda confusing. I understood the general plot, but the ending was just...wanky.
Patriot are no villain dude... wym
Patriot's definitely an antagonist, but his motivations aren't really that of a villain's
@@AquaticIdealist So whats the point of your comment then?
As stated an antagonist isn't necessarily evil, thus not a villain. Just because someone is against you/ the protagonist doesn't make them evil, yea every gets that its kinda unnecessary to state
@@yusassin1449 The original comment was calling him a villain
He is not a villain, just an antagonist
For me, The music is enough reason to play. And I already did. I started to play a couple of days ago. And then, Adding the characters, World, Lore, Gameplay. I love this game. I love it so much.
Word, heart of surging flame and picking the dude with his hands in the air with the EDM track was one of my all time favourite moments with AK soundtrack. The grind on the other hands... the rerun fixed it thankfully
Happy to see Arknights getting more love and recognition as time goes on. It's definitely worthy of it.
Cheers!

Arknights took the Tower Defense genre and actually 'improved' it
It's like making chess actually fun to play
Chess is fun in its own way.
Chess is hella fun
Dam didnt know it was possible to make chess fun, now im interested.
i feel that even the limited banners are justified, they ops are not needed for any content, and with the amount of generosity they give us, it’s a way to get money to continue to do so.
@@soma179
I think when you read 95% you're thinking 100%.

I agree with everything that has been told! Arknights is something special to me and it keeps getting better with each new event and update that makes the game even better. All I need to hope is that the game can keep going on for years, especially for the free-to-play players as I know for a fact is possible as I have tried it and who have 6 different accounts.
That video is what helped me clear the second boss myself, so thanks for that.
This was the first video I've gotten recommended by you. It's impressively put together with a really nice flow throughout and vibe.
I was so blown away by the spectacle I looked up the song, saw Asbestos for the first time, saw she was from a game called Arknights, and that's what pushed me to finally give the game a try.
may I ask which video?

@@Cultured_Gamer Thanks, I haven't caught up with his Elden Ring videos. Good to know that Arknights' music just got a wider audience.
@@Fins-T you're welcome, and Burn Me To The Ground isn't the only AK OST he added, so there's a comment listed probably all the songs/music/OSTs too.
She kept saying, "Until you're ready, Doctor, all of us will wait for you."
And to that, it wasn't too late to start again, and the beginning of wonderful journey.
For a tower defense game, HG and Yostar really put their effort on the music. Each of them can be a banger. From Heavy metal, hip hop, jazz, etc.
One of the best things of AK, imo.

"three rolls and a thank you" - that was prophetic 😭💀

Defiantly, AK is a class on its own, not only gameplay wise, but also in how a company keeps in touch with their player base.
All over the world.
@@Tsunul "complicated" bruh then we get nearl alter event,Integrated strategies 1,and wolumonde event.
i was around from day one, HoSF controversy was the fact that you need to grind a stage to farm tix (currency) and this tix currency is used to grind another stage, which you can imagine is really grindy and annoying, i didn't had that much problem because I'm an emulator player and just background it but you require double the time to farm shit
and the HoSF rewards were random in the infinite gacha
the Controversy even has a follow up when the rerun happens because thorns banner happened, basically releasing a 6* in a rerun event instead of an original event, HG received massive backlash and made a public statement about it
this is why there's no longer new 6* released in rerun events
now i need to remind you, CN players are fanatics, so even a little thing can blow up
@@Ginko77 really? I thought HoSF was so much fun tbh. It was one of the first events where HG went all out with the content

Im actualy suprised that we didnt die from hearing phantom voice there
I can agree that the story feels like it drags on, especially Near Light and Chapter 8. I'm am also annoyed with the sheer number of typos and grammar errors I see in here compared to other games like this. Seriously, it sometimes feels like there isnt a single person on the translation team who has English as their first language.
Still, it's just a minor gripe, and I really do still love the game.
Yeah, I agree with the typos & poor grammar. As someone who likes reading, it triggers me.
I got into the game because my friends are into it. Defenitely a peer pressure I will never regret.

"You'll be sacrificing children to please RNGesus" damn I knew my orundums to pull for Gnosis weren't enough...
Grats. She is so OP that she can solo all but a few levels. You'll never need another operator.
You didn't mention one crucial detail - almost all past events are available for replay at any time.
So people who started playing later won't miss out on years of content.
Contrast that to games like Genshin or Honkai Impact, where you do miss years worth of content and storylines.
Came for the gameplay and got hooked on the story. I genuinely didn't think that I would continue to play the game for 2 years and more!!
The only, ONLY, problem i have with Arknights is its limited problem. That is amazing how a gacha game only irks me in one way.
I literally just watched two creations from ling and dusk have a conversation about the existence and freedom. Yup, it has a lot of lore
I’m so happy that this is finally getting the recognition that it deserves!
Phantom's EN voice is good but I can't let "UTAE UTAE UTAE" go.

This felt like a love letter to Arknights that's not blind to its downsides. Thank you :)
my only regret is not starting since launch even tho i downloaded the app back then and even created my account. ive been a player since rosmontis banner and have logged in every single day
One warning to give and always scream at every new player: 4 and 3 stars are the way to go for a very long time, DON'T fall for the bullshit of trying to go for the shiny new characters they show you, and don't invest into a 5-star without research, because that's how this game will ruin it's experience for you.
Honestly would have completely overlooked this game if it weren't for you. Thanks. I might actually get bluestacks 5 again cause of this :O
Like some operators have lines or profiles with errors or questionable sentences, and if they get voiced in english those sentences will ahve to be fixed... right?
Started playing after watching this video a year and a half ago
Still playing now
Thanks for the video 🙏
thank you for making this video....
Arknights and Hypergryph are almost same as LoL and Riot Games were on their best days for me. They playing long term, make everyone happy and entertained and leave purchases as a choice, not really forcing anything. Becoming an adult i don't really have time and passion to play pvp and i'm happy that friend introduced Arknights to me, which makes me feel same happy and entertained as LoL did (great art, music, fun gameplay, endless things to try).
ngl HG should make a running gag how having a conversation with kalt'sit is one of their torture method
I got ling on my first ten pull and it took me all until player lvl 38 to e2 her im very happy
"Limited banners will try to rob you like you're a tourist on Costa Rica"
As a Costa Rican I agree with that statement.

dont worry my dude ill get some clue 7s prepped for your reception office
people even challenge the game with 2 star and 3 star only for specific stage.
I played Arknights during its global launch but stopped early on. However, recently I have started playing again and I’m so glad I did.
ive recently played this game in response to the new AK anime and my thoughts over the game are honestly way more positive than i thought.
I don’t think any other mobile game comes even close to the latter except maybe FGO lol
I played many types of Gachas but Arknights has become my all-time favorite.
I literally downloaded this game just because they used Starset songs on their trailers.
Right now I'm not regretting it.
I was an avid Plants vs Zombies fan, and when I heard Arknights has similar gameplay, I tried it out and never stop playing since! I just love how it wasn’t a glorified waifu collecting game and has an equal amount of great husbandos as well. The gameplay’s actually amazing as well
I love playing FGO and Arknights. Their Gachas are rewarding and both are f2p.
I've been playing this since the beginning (though I late for almost one month because I didn't receive notification that the game is already released) this game is among my favorites mobile games.
1:15 hey pay respects to Plants vs Zombies bro 🧐
Funny enough, I discovered this game because of OSU. I played a beatmap called boiling blood and it was the hypest beatmap I've ever heard in OSU. That's how good Arknights music is. Now I'm a 2.5 year player and amazing content keeps going. I feel like this is the most f2p gacha game there is cause I haven't spent anything. but the wwf to support the cause.. The only downside is I'm close to running out of storage.
Literally got Ling a few days ago, then another one after that, and as someone who followed Arknights for a long time, and only getting back to it recently, this game is just on point.
Great video!
5:30 bro wdym your voice is godlike 🔥
Yeah I agree best gacha :D and most friendly gacha I EVER PLAYED litellary F2P and in 2 years I have almost 40 sixstar
