The argument you said about the game being skill based is so true for example I played sword of canvalaria last week I thought the same thing and got really hyped for a skill based game but after some chapters you realize that no matter how skilled you are you can't beat a stage because of the time limit which limits the skill factor may be skill only game can't be a gacha game

    • @yria7255
      @yria7255 4 месяца назад +12

Rip to Alchemist Code, it didnt have turn limits and was the only good trpg gacha for a long time. However, i do think it is somewhat unfair to use this definition of skill based for the trpg genre, cuz of the nature of turn based games, where the number of possible scenarios of victory have been massively reduced compared to something like arknights. Theres a hard limit to the number of actions u can take every turn, whereas ak ur limited only by either the game engine itself or ur own actions per minute. Theres only so many tiles your lvl 1 unit can occupy b4 the enemy catches up, barring the scenario where u r ranged, have higher movement range, and the enemy is only using 1 tile range attacks. Put any elden ring boss fight onto a grid and only allow x moves/turn and the chance of victory becomes significantly more unlikely unless x exceeds the actions/min of the og game. Turn based inherently limits ur actions b4 any additional "clear in x turns".
Ofc thats not to say it isnt skill based at all. Its definitely more engaging than most mobile turn based. Each event also has stgs where a predetermined roster is given to u, so you are guaranteed that victory is not limited by stats, the skill is if you can figure out the puzzle (some of the extra conditions can be kind of tricky too)

Arknights is skill based, there is literally a culture of self imposed restrictions within the community called “nicheknights” , people will either follow or create their own niche and I’ve seen all sorts of weird ones going from only playing with characters of the same species or same class to stuff like only playing with characters born on a certain month or with art draw by a certain artist.

I've been playing daily since the global launch of the game and thought I'd give my 2 cents on the stuff you covered
The gameplay imo is really fun, and all the characters and weapons are diverse enough that it doesn't feel repetitive
The progression is worse than you think, the further on you go the more gank you have to deal with. In one of the latest chapters you have to survive about 2 minutes waves of enemies that spawn in around 10 second intervals. In addition to that, there are enemies shooting at you from a distance you cannot kill. It took me a few hours to get past that level and i only did it by ignoring the enemies that were spawning and trying to anticipate the long ranged ones i could not kill.
I get that they want to prevent players from reaching the end of the current story update and loose players until they update it, but by god that feels like a reach considering that the daily grind at minimum is 2 hours.
For instance and encore dungeons, initially you could've only spent 1-2 keys at a time f2p, and the subscriptions would get you up to 4. As you can see now they increased f2p up to 4, but then the subscription to 8.
The artifact grind looks bad because it is bad. There is a stat called "Healing Given Increase" for artifacts, and it does what the name implies, make healing skills better. The issue? The meta is pumping all your stats into strength for jin woo to maximize damage output since being able to tank any enemy hits doesn't matter if you only have 3 mins to kill them all. That artifact stat has been the bane of this grind's existence as it can make getting the perfect drops an RNG nightmare. It was complained about so much that the devs said that they will remove "Healing Given Increase" as a sub-stat entirely, restricting it to only come up as a main stat
Another thing is that all the rings are based on elemental damage, so if the main stat doesn't align with the character you equip it to, its basically useless
e.g. Light hunter equipped with a ring whose main stat is Wind Damage % will not add any damage, so you have to keep grinding main stats while keeping in mind that you are also looking for specific sub-stats
The separate weapon banner is a new addition from the last update, and are the rarest tickets to get at the moment so it makes sense to me that they keep weapons in the custom banners for now
TL;DR: This video perfectly describes the SLA experience, however, as you get closer to the end game the experience gets worse.

    • @randomcat1151
      @randomcat1151 4 месяца назад +7

Another arise player here and speaking of progression, I am still currently questioning the devs' decision of putting hidden chapter 1 and 2 in between the previous update's chapters and the new ones, it could've been made a side story of sorts and yet they decided to make put it in the main story. Whilst on the topic of hidden chapter, I might as well make an example of why progression is a problem in this game, the boss level of hidden chapter 1 has a huge jump from the previous level: if you were able to at least make decent damage to the enemy on the previous level, normal enemies in the boss level take "tanky" to a whole different level.

Microtransactions is incredibly aggressive but gacha system is fair and they are generous with pulls and currency, some events even straight up give you a S-Rank. As much as people shit on this game, I have to give credit where credit is due, this game is incredibly fun for the first 10-20 hours all the way up until progression gets severely hard capped to f2p's because your resource strained and lvl strained. This game also has a very high skill ceiling which not many people are willing to reach. Overall its not a "bad" game, its just egregiously monetized and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Need an update on this video:
Gate keys now are 15 and you can now refresh gates (no cooldown needed)
Encore and instance dungeons are both 6 keys + 2 keys from the shop (mana exchange shop)
There are also other dungeons such as Battlefield of Trials (spiral abyss version on genshin), Battlefield of Time (boss clearing), Battlefield of Chaos (where you get gems) ,Power of Destruction (can get multiple rewards base on your score), Workshop of Brillant Light (can get higher gears here that cannot be found on encore and instance)
Does the second rate-up guarantee carryover across banners as well? The answer is YES.
There's also another catch in the gacha system here. If a character banner ends, the character will go the standard banner after the next banner ends. Meaning you can have another chance on getting it (25% if you select it as 1 of your 4 rate up character/weapon on the standard banner) If you are a f2p like me, you can just get an A0 character on the limited banner and then get the get the other copies once they go to the standard banner.
Guild system was the latest update (typical guild system just like on every games)
Devs are also generous on giving rewards. Almost everyday they give rewards.

I think he was a bit too hard with the game. Netmarble is doing a great job with this one. I've been playing it since May (I think) And I was a f2p player, but I'm buying just 1 sub for 3 months. The game itself is pretty generous, it gives a lot of sources and it's improving by day. Now is way too easy to improve if you're a new player. It even gives free SSR characters. The subscriptions make it just faster to (complete) a day of the game. So it's great for people who don't have that much time to spend on games. Not to mention Partner Creator Plus, where you can get a lot of codes with essence stones and other stuff, also the staff gives codes sometimes. People really should give it a try. I really feel bad watching this video, it's like making people not play this game.

Netmarble is notoriously bad with monetization. I used to play one of their non gacha games, Marvel Future Fight, and it just got worse and worse over time. It wasn't as bad with 7 Deady Sins Grand Cross, but still definitely felt greedy at times even more than other gacha games from other publishers.
I also tried Solo Leveling and left because how annoying the monetization was. And endgame content also gets to a point where it requires not only good gear and leveling, but dupes in order to reach the Battle Power requirements. Feels really scummy when I need multiple copies of the limited characters to feel like I can progress properly. Maybe I just sucked at the game, but the Stat requirements made me feel otherwise

I've been playing Arise since it's early access launch and I couldn't disagree more with this review. Most of the points brought up are outdated information such a s gates NEEDING the subscription. they changed this really fast. The key system has been changed to a 12 universal key/day mechanic that can be stored up to 30 if you cannot play everyday.
The whole argument about skill based yes or no was insane imo. the game's timer isn't a sole agrument against a game being skill based. The example on not being allowed to take a lvl 1 character and beating everything is just childish. This still is a live service game, and they do need soft locks to keep teh audience engaged else they burn themselves out by blitzing the content. this whole segment felt like buddy here forgot this was a gacha. And as someone who had to beat Igris on Chapter 7 pre nerf and Bakura etc I had to beat them being massively udnerleveled and it was an extremly fun expirience fiddeling with skills and teams until you'd find sth that would work.
The take on gacha is pretty poor as well. Obviously so since he mentions eh has 0 expirience with gachas. the guarantee absolutely does carry over. It does so in 99% of games. The Pity at 80 is called hard pity as u are getting a SSR every 80 pulls 100% of the time. The actual pity is at 65 pulls as there the rate for SSR starts to increase dramatically. you'll very rarely go above 72 summons to get a SSR drop. the game also just dumps selector tickets on you like crazy. usually enough to get 4 to 6 SSR every patch. Paired with the fact that limited time SSR's get added to the selector after 1 month and the fact that your very first limited time SSR pity is guaranteed to be the featured unit it's very obvious that this segment was very missinformed.
The game has a reputation of being the most generous game and f2p firendly Gacha out atm, which is crazy for a netmarble game.
I'd give the guy the benefit of the doubt as it's clear he isnt usued to gacha games, as he compared some parts of it to mainstream games like ER. But it's still mind boggeling to me why someone would release a "should u buy" on a Game he doesnt understand at all.
I wish this whole monologe took longer. I still have 2h left at work T-T

However, it's leveling system is very F2P, no pulling for gear, lots of content, frequent events and updates, and the fact you don't need SS/legendary characters to progress. Some of the best characters are common/uncommon/rare, and all characters can be converted to legendary.

Make a good existing anime IP gacha challenge: impossible.
It’s too bad the most recent SAO gacha is down because it was a MESS and would make a good video. They shit it down only months after launch because it was just that bad. They say they are working on improving it with plans to rerelease, but that’s been postponed multiple times.

Ok how can you barely play the game and judge it? Also, the more you progress, the more keys you get for the instance and encore missions. I am completely F2P, and I have even stopped playing at intervals, yet I have access to 40 keys, which is yet another thing you criticized about the game before progressing far enough. Your claim on the auto function is also wrong; you can still defeat gates with the auto function even if you don't have a massive power difference as long as you have decent characters and a decent moveset. What is there to "micromanage" about the gates? Just do the gates you need by using the characters. Looking at numbers is not that hard. You make the claim that for new players, the RNG substats and the 8 equipment slots are too hard. So it is basically 8 equipment. Optimize the substats for your character, and you are done. It is just looking at numbers and looking at the characters' playstyle so I don't understand what you mean by hard. Saying, "They give out a number of standard banner pulls" is also not true. They are incredibly generous with their pulls and gems that they give out. Almost no gacha compares to the generosity that sla has. The pity system for SLA is also amazing. Most of the time (tested out through thousands of tickets, along with my guildmates), the average ticket used to get a character is 50. The "atrocious monetization" is actually you being atrocious. A game is made to make money. How will they make money if they do not advertise it. That's like complaining; you see advertisements everywhere you go while walking around Las Vegas. You get 2 ads when you log into the game. And 1-2 every hour. It takes 3 seconds to click the x button. That is not "shoving it in your face". The fact that they reward you for even checking out the advertisements is something no other gacha does btw, and it even rewards you with 100 free gems sometimes. Throughout the entire video, you keep on moaning and groaning on and on about how it shows you the possible money spent to gain extra rewards and blah blah blah. I stopped playing for periods of time, and before that, I barely played, and I am Ar rank 70 as a F2P. The monetization is not needed at all, and if you actually played the game, you would realize this. Then you talk about the subscription needed to buy tickets for 50% off. Have you ever bought something for 50% off with no strings attached? Probably not. Because it is an insane discount, I have never seen a game implement. And guess what? Even your ending point is garbage. If you did even an ounce of research before blasting this game because it is an IP based game, you would know that there is Solo Levelling Ragnorak, and it was announced it would be coming out. "Your progression will be throttled around chapter nine-ish". Hilarious stuff, claiming it is not a skill-based game, then claiming you can't beat the levels. Even with your power in the red(which gives you stat debuffs), you can win if you're good enough. Just look at PayneBlade and his F2P account. I love your channel as I have just recently discovered it, but I think you could have done more research before posting a video like this. I mean no hate, but please don't just trash a game because it is IP based. Sorry for the grammar errors. I wrote this kind of fast lol.

The amount of keys has been increased a few times ago. Before I think that you could only have 10 each day. Same things for the number of gates keys that has been reduced to 10 instead of 15.

You're right. Nothing Storywise is breaking the wheel. However between the Story have mega hype moments, and Studio Redice just absolutely NAILING the art; Solo Leveling made it to top tier.

I haaaate how they're clearly using AI art for the pretty girl characters. It's so obvious too. They have been cleaned up so there's no weird hands or whatever (that I've seen) but if the monetization wasn't so atrocious I still would never play it just because of that alone. The difference in art style is just so jarring.

been playing this games since day one, if you do it for fun only, not pursuing anything but to enjoy the vibes, story gameplay, graphics etc, it's a good game, this game is slow paced games, means you need to invest your time or even your money to be able to finish the content, yes, this is p2w games and not skilled based games, but overall it's good, don't skip it but Try it yourself, then you decide it's worth it or not.
me personally, thinks this game is good and I happily play this games everyday , the developer are very generous, the community is good and pretty active, the issue is this game has so many bugs yet the developer quickly addressing the bug and fixing it even tough there's still plenty,..
one last thing I can say, The developer loves this game I can tell

Player since launch day, while I can't say I'm fully F2P since I tried the 2 monthly subscription versions but after that month I stopped any thoughts of spending. I could say that progression is definitely steep, one must better buckle up to fail and fail some more. You have to grind for weeks if needed, the relic rng is just so livid. You have to also brace yourself in low rewards in some events/modes which whales flap around (understandable).
The game is good in bare minimum level and what keeping me is probably the gacha rate and rewards a F2P received, up till this point I have never gone down from 30k gems and I pull every unit. I give them credit with that, heck they even put a whole 10 pulls in codes or randomly give one in mails.
I know its paywall and fomo inducing but it really is decent, I run in auto and clear everything... well progressively (still farming to prepare in getting lvl80+ relics).
I know IP is also a factor I like this, watching my Cha get maxed Breakthrough and cleave enemies is great or seeing a celebrity turned hunter is also exciting.
It is also astonishing they gave 4 skins almost 4 months since launch, not saying too generous but they definitely know how to give carrots.
Anyway, overall if you are finding a casual game, this could give a few high (knowing that vertical progression is not easily seen pass Ch9), so gamer patience advised.
If competitive and f2p, well you can still try but know that it'll be a steep climb that allows few to no mistakes and a world of depression. The top rewards ain't that worth to pursue anyway.
if spending, heck no get the hell out if you can't deal well with FOMO or has zero financial stability. GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER!
Sidenote though this is just side gacha in the bg, I play Alchemy Stars, Path to Nowhere, Aether Gazer, Snowbreak, HSR, Rev1999 and WuWa with this (and yes I still get to have a life and work, heck I'm even studying in college).
Again, is it good to play?Maybe. Is it good to spend, no and NO!

    I have a question
Do you write your own scripts or do u employ somebody else to do it for u?
If so then they are 100% using chatgpt and other AI stuff for it
I'm not saying it's bad but if they're making it using AI then you can too 😅 don't waste money

I'm pretty sure it's genuine from his own experience with how describing how he feels and the fact bring into the Manhua and where he left reading it it's just a detail i don't think AI is gonna get, and he is very *Based* for sh-t talking gacha game, So there's no point using Ai when you can ramble how sh-tty this game is.
