Arknights, a gacha Tower Defense game. It just had its 5 year anniversary, and I just recently started playing, So I decided to share my new player experience.

BGM: • 100% Orange Juice - Kr...
With the whole story thing I completely understand why it’s not voiced. Cause there is totally not a side event with like a 200k word story or anything.
Yea in hindsight I realized it's not a reasonable ask. Maybe in a perfect world haha
There's a book reporting everything about Terra till chapter 8, and it has 600k+ words....... meanwhile Lone Trail only has 450k(?)
So cruel
@@Jarediann Arknights audiobooks stocks about to rise
@@GoldTheAngelofficial audiobooks would be very cool! Even with a single narrator and no voice acting besides that would be fine
@@minhho5458 Erm, actually, "450k" is the number of Chinese characters, the actual EN word count is only around 67k, which is a few hundred words shorter than the first Harry Potter book. 🤓
I love reading the story, but sometimes I'm just too busy with work so I look up a video of someone doing a voice-over reading of it and then just listen to it at, like, 2x speed
That's not a bad idea 🤔
do you listen to mozart and/or the bible dubbed in chinese on the left or right ear?
4.5 year veteran here
2:10 Oh man, Surtr even that powerful compared to actually broken operators nowadays, i'll tell you that
2:17 And Quartz is maybe weak but not as useless as Windflit.
4:22 That's technically impossible to do. Imagine how much audio files needs to be uploaded into the game at least for the main storyline. The game would skyrocket in terms of weight. And also not everyone even wants to listen to 30 minutes long dialogues.
But anyway, Welcome to depressing world of Arknights. Feel free to ask questions.
Thank you thank you 🙏🏼
Another 4.5 year veteran here. I feel like savage is even more useless. HG literally made it impossible to ever full pot her. As someone who prereg, I only have her at pot 5. At least windflit can somewhat help with sp regen.
Also, the event story is usually there to tell us about the featured characters, so it's a given they'd be very long. They're essentially introducing us to a whole new faction. Take Iberia, Laterano, Siracusa etc. They were only ever featured in events, so they have to introduce and build up in a few stages a whole new storyline.
@@shijo427don't worry. Savage alter will fix that problem so you can have that version to pot 6
@@shijo427 would argue if savage is that bad, cause some cautus niche or rim billiton enjoyer would love to use her over and over and over again just like how i would always use my santalla over and over again :)
@@shijo427 Savage has the 2nd highest sustained dps among all AOE guards, second only to Blaze.
If that's bad to you...
Yeah she's squishy, and her talent is very situational, and her power strike is the 4 star version on a 5 star. But those are just minor drawbacks, that lots of other ops have (besides 4 star skill).
A bad operator is purposeless.
Savage can be used as a laneholder. That's a purpose. So she can be niche, underwhelming, flawed, but not "bad".
Just thinking about the absolute quantity of audio files needed to voice Ak's story gives me headaches.
cough cough "Lone trail" cough cough
200K letters are WILD
@@시바견-j4i From sources i found, it says 380k letters, 68k words.
A WALK IN A DUST
@@SoilworkWTI heard english has 380k letters and chinese version have 200k
IIRC Lone Trail has more words than LOTR Return of the King
The shop pity is understandable however you can always hold onto certs because they will eventually come back
However the thing hoyo doesnt do is that on LIMITED banners the rate up is 70% and on true limited the guarentee is 120. Not to mention the 30+ free pulls for every limited banner
My favorite story event from AK that never got me bored from start to finish is Jessica's event.
I always do find myself complaining about the main story because the way they introduce the characters are often used so minimally. A good friend of mine once told me that he had issues with Dobermann and Nearl because ever since Nearl was introduced, their character roles are starting to sound the same as one another. He told me that good character writing comes from knowing who is speaking just by text alone.
That's what I realized what Jessica's event had that I really love. I love that all of them has different character roles and especially how you almost dont need much background information to get the story (other than she works for blacksteel I guess). I also love how it was about Jessica's own personal growth from start to finish and how much they emphasized on her feelings. Idk maybe I'm more of a character-driven story enjoyer but because of that I put Jessica's event the best one from what I read.
@@sumjester That's a perfect way to put it, the idea of knowing who is talking, and having different character roles.
@@Jarediann Mhm! I'm actually been getting into more media with big worlds and been trying to compare these media to each other. You'd notice right away that gacha games tend to have those big worlds. Ironically enough, the thing that ends up appealing or makes me focus on the most are the characters.
Like - there are character-driven stories and plot-driven stories. You'd think that in worlds with vast amounts of lore you'd want to focus on how much the plot moves to deliver that information, but reading AK and comparing it to HSR's writing made me realize how HSR manages to balance both character and plot really well.
I want to be a writer and I noticed that my ideas for a small setting is way more rich in what I actually want to do than when I try to think of a big world. That's why I've been looking on these medias more to learn how I should go about approaching bigger worlds. From what I learned, you should use your characters individual roles to represent a certain attitude or mentality towards a situation. That way, they all have a different perspective to show when other characters cant.
ONE OF US!
😎😎
Imo, AK gacha honestly isn't that bad because of how much orundums we get (about a ten pull every two weeks from annihilation and weekly/dailies). The gacha rates are better then other games (AK has 2% for 6* compared to other games like HSR having 0.6% or FGO 1%).
Also, never roll kernal ever. Yellow cert shop is infinitely better, Operators rotate quite a bit in the shop, so you'll eventually find the one you're looking for appear, and yellow certs have multiple uses unlike the kernal certs.
But I want Broca
those games you've mentioned don't have once in a lifetime rate ups and single run limiteds though
You can't lose 50/50 twice in a row in HSR. So worst case you use 180 ticket, and you have to be insanely unlucky for that to happen.
There's units that you can only get from Kernel banner so a new player has to pull on them.
FGO has an actual rate up so losing 7 50/50 back to back is almost impossible.
@@Kyle81290 Pretty sure every unit you can get from kernel banner you can recruit them.

Beware of the white owl
Regarding the gacha part of your review: Your first mistake was pulling on the Kernel Banner lol
That's for older players to get older Operators that they never got before, it's not intended for newcomers (Kernel Banner has a separate roster of Operators from Standard). Also, you probably just weren't aware at the time- but you could've set Hoshiguma to be the shop Operator. But again, you probably didn't know about that lmao
Also also, pulling in Kernel Banner sucks because it gives you blue certificates instead of the usual green and yellow
Yea i knew full well that pulling on kernal was bad lmao i mostly just wanted to have operators that i actually liked cuz Waifu > Meta.
And yea i had to buy hoshiguma from the shop, i did indeed choose her to be in there cuz i wanted there to be a guarantee no matter what.
@@Jarediann Oh okay. At least you knew what you were getting into and how to plan around it. And true words indeed, Waifu > Meta
Can relate so much on a lot of your points, especially regarding the story on the first chapters. I used to not care much about the story but oooh boy, once I started paying more attention to some of the sidestories… Especially with Near Light, Il Siracusano and Lone Trail, I felt as if I was watching a goddamn movie.
@@masamuso0 I might consider coming around and reading some stuff again, who knows. Glad you came around to it!
You are absolutely right about the story. The problem is its delivery. There was this event, "Here a people sow", and I liked everything - the characters, the music, the map mechanics, the story... however, for a new player, there was just too much name-dropping and chatting. I cleared up to 6 missions and like - is that it? That's all I can get? So, without YT or Wiki, it's impossible to get the full picture. You get bits and pieces here and there, among so much chit-chat that you cannot care anymore. Only stand-alone stories seem to work well enough. And there's no way of fixing it.
Regarding gameplay, it's not a tower-defence game - it's a resource management game that uses TD mechanics. Whaling your way through the early game or letting "support" characters carry you through the main content takes away so much of this aspect.
And, well, it's a gatcha game. In its purest form, with gambling addicts and waifu baits. But I'd say it's probably among the most generous gatcha games. 3* and 4* are absolutely playable and even good, 5* and 6* can be obtained from the shops, recruitments and other pity mechanics, daily and weekly missions yield enough rewards for you to actually save something for pulls and get what you want, even as a free-to-player. It just takes time and persistence.
i’ve been playing for 2 1/2 years and personally i’ve enjoyed the game and honestly i totally agree with the story it’s like 30 minutes of reading to 5 minutes of actually playing witch is stupid but i’ve enjoyed it apart from that (Frostnova arc is peak) and me personally the gatcha system i don’t really have a problem with (probably because ive gotten lucky with the characters i like) and also my introduction into the game was Texas bc my friend was crazy abt her 😂
Amazing vid btw
@@visuallyjacob9025Hey thanks man I appreciate it! I think the the storytelling just isn't for me which is totally fine. And actually Ive also been getting incredibly lucky with my pulls as of late, so maybe it's making up for all the bad luck I had when I first started playing
@@Jarediann lol there you go! and yeah the story can definitely be ify
Platinum has been with me from the start, and I still use her till' this day
The damn extra range is so convenient.
I’m reading all the dialogue for the main story, and holding off on the events. I just started this year too, so I am very aware, I won’t understand nearly anything in the event dialogue, but the Lake of Silberdeherze event dialogue had me laughing my a** off still.
Honestly I used to love Arknights story back when I had highschool student freetime. Now that I am getting ready to graduate college, I can safely say I havent read any story in 3 years. Still love the game though.
It should be noted any non main story that any story involving Khal'tsit beyond a passing mention has a tendacy to be horribly confusing. If you're feeling brave you may want to read Lone Trail despite the Khal'tsit involvement just simply because it's the only side story that actually gives any concrete details on the doctor's past beyond some generic strategist mentions so far on the global side. Also they avoid being too messy on on the main story in general.
Avoid being too messy on the main story? Ain't that aged like goddamn milk, act 2 has been pretty jank ever since chapter 10 and 13 specifically has about as much structure as a glass of water shattered on the floor.
If this game had voice acting for story, I wouldn't think it would fit on most people's phones. It would balloon in size, like at least x5 times what it is now.
Story also varies heavily. Some events have a very clear and relatively simple story, and some have incredibly convoluted and hard to understand story.
Lone trail *cough*
one of side story with a awesome plot
For a player who started the same month as me this year, you sure knew so much more 2 months ago when you posted this than I know now. I might just be too casual to even look up guides... or a dumb- I only even learned about modules recently. Maining Thorns since Day 1 and I rerolled 6 times for him simply for his design. Yes, he is really great. And yes, the story seems nice but it's packaging is so bad that I didn't even bother. Will watch lore videos soon.
@@redfoxakame I'm fairly casual but I always attempt to learn as much about a game as possible as I play it, because I don't wanna feel like I'm missing out on things. It also kinda helps that I've played games all my life so I pick up on things faster I guess. But you're not dumb, you're just enjoying the game in ur own way and that's totally fine :)
@@Jarediann You are missing out on at least 30% of the game by skipping the story. High barrier to entry, extremely high payout if you put in the time.
In terms of the issues with the pulling you mentioned, I think most people don't really mind it at all. As someone who got used to Genshin's system, I actually love how much higher the rates are for arknights, not to mention the 5 star or above pity at 10 pulls. Plus nobody does kernel or standard headhunting really, and hypergryph really spoils players when limited banners drop so it really compensates for a lot.
Watching this very late but man, I really understand your point when it comes to the writing. I'm a veteran doctor, playing since week 2?? of release, who came back to the game a month ago or so after almost 8 months of not even opening it. The thing is, people is right, voicing is hard considering the writing style-- but the truth is still that the writing style *is* very convoluted when its not always needed to be so (Kal is probably the biggest proof of this).
After coming back, I read chapter 14 after years of not touching the main story (since chapter 8), and I have to say... the writing has gotten better, and its much more comprehensible now which I'm glad for, but also extremely funny how even in-game they acknowledged this yapping fault with one character who spends a big part of chapter 14 looking at Kal and Logos like 'the fuck you say? you mean (simple explanation)?' and basically tldr'ing all of it.
That being said, I'm also a Reverse 1999 player, and thats the perfect example of how writing can have deep tones, specific terms, AND still be easy to understand and not take a hundred years to deliver certain lines, all while also being fully voiced which is a huge pampering to me (I also play hoyo games, but thats a different bahamut so I never tried to compare them). Still, AK did get better and I'm glad you're enjoying, I hope you will keep doing so!
Also, wow, a Hoshiguma fan, best taste proved
Welcome aboard Dokutah! I hope you are enjoying the game. I do agree with the story part as It's gets boring sometimes and it like an endless monologue. But once you push yourself to read it, you'll be surprised on how good some of these stories are. Lonetrail being my favorite story released thus far
Thank you! Dokutah!
When I started playing arknights, I was also impressed by Hoshiguma's design... like yoww whos dis mommy ✪ ω ✪
Arknight is my favourite series of books. Legit, some of the best long-term storytelling and character writing. Of course different events are at different levels, like Come Catastrophies or Wake of Vultures was kinda meh, but Lone Trail was like one of the best things I've read in a while.
But I love how characters change and develop, like the real MVP of Lone Trail was Ifrit and that was the payoff for years of listening to her be a violent brat in her voice lines and yet still looking to help her grow up and develop. Or like Lapland in Il Siracusano actually had a resolution to her long term obsession with Texas - and it was such that reflected not just her, but Texas's developed over the years.
Speaking of broken ops

omg the way you play this game is how i play battle cats like i try maybe 3-5 runs of strategic timing based gameplay, fuck up my rock tining ot whatever, and then look up a guide and drag Dasli and Izanagi into the lineup
Finding a random battle cats enjoyer in the wild on an Arknights video is really interesting lol.
4:56 well they do have tons of money because Tectone and Vifer spent thousands of dollars just to pull for operators back in the day
About the banners: if you want to maximise your currency usefulness, and the banner has 2 featured 6* - get one of them, and stop. You will get the other operator later, or just buy outright for gold certificates from the shop, but this avoids duplicates. Continuing to pull trying to get the 2nd character is a trap for you to potentially waste all your currency. Its a bad system designed to trap players into making bad decisions, but doing what I described sidesteps it.
I may be late but there is a youtube channel that voice acts the story if you want to look out for that, I won't link it since I don't know, may be disrespectful but yeah, I found that pretty cool and he has done most story and events as far I'm aware.
I’m happy you ended up having fun with arknights
It is unfortunate you stopped the story when you did because the events are very much written as if you were up to date when they released and Arknights in general has one of the best stories I've ever read. But yeah I do agree vocie acting or just generally more graphical feedback during events would be great. I've definitely been there where I am reading the same chapter for an hour and a half because they just won't stop talking lmao.
But if you do get immersed and engrossed in the storyline then those massive dialogue segments are actually hugely revelatory. (usually) so it's kind of a hard balance to find
some of the stories are great, some are just confusing, it's sad that one of the most confusing stories was the one that made you stop reading.
honestly, the writing started getting good at chapter 6, and chapter 8 was so peak. i'd suggest you read the main story, and then any events that looks interesting -i havent even read half of the events cough cough-
lemme say again--THE STORIES ARE GREAT. Walk in the Dust in particular (and stuff related to the doctor's past, etc) just likes throwing lore points in the story for you to remember and then theyd reveal later. But most of the events are pretty self contained, so you can pretty much go in blind and get something out of it
Garbage writing though.

Well, late is better than never! Glad to see another doc joining.
Also, the story is really, really arduous to figure out in general, and there's so much (like... novel-length long), where each event could probably be shoved into a book. (You can always find somewhere with a somewhat chronological list of when things happen anyway lol)
I am playing for almost 3 years by now, i played many gachas but the arknights stayed and a gacha that have bus that comes to nowhere to save my life.
AK its one of the few gacha games that skin its tecnically free.
AK mais story skyrockets in level of epicness in cap 5 and forward.
There more word count in AK than Harry Potter saga of books if im not mistaken so yeah put audio now its a litlle bit too much.
AK is very F2P friendly
Different game modes (IS and the base construction like mode)
Characters design trully is peak
And always arknights trully is a Game music with an tower defense like Game within.
The bad thing is
The contents for AK is very limited for YT.
Burnout has a higher chance to happen
Ah yes the 1-7 Grind is crazy( you will need this rocks for operators or to transform in pulls (Not worth it but i do anyways its a gacha game, the orundum will not farm itself).
Welcome aboard dokutah, surely the story that has the doc tends to be better (PEAK TRAIL(LONE TRAIL), chapter 5 and onwards, the last CH in EN doc its a Gigachad)
Walk in the dust is just so slow and long, also iirc you need the context of Vigilo and some reading on the main story so i dont blame you. Personally i enjoy the more light-hearted or shorter snippets of stories of arknights like the Ursus Children and Gavial Chief Returns(and by extension, Ideal City). I have heard good thing about Lone Trail, but i havent read it yet so i cant judge it.
Quibai may not be meta, but she has been on my roster since the day she released and never lost her spot. Her design is just perfection.
@@_rayzen I couldn't agree more
Late or not the important thing is we experienced it 🥂
Good points though I have to say, I don't understand how the gacha is bad compared to a Hoyo game. The sheer amount of bs cramed into Hoyo gacha systems vastly outstrips Arknights.
Only hoyo games I've ever tried were Genshin and Star Rail and getting gacha currency as a f2p felt like pulling teeth and then you usually only get useless items, i really don't get how anyone could consider this better than Arknights gacha
When it comes to the story, I very much cherry-pick which story content I actually read myself. I basically only care about certain main story chapters and if it grows too tedious, I stick to reading the chapter synopses. The only event stories I really pay attention to personally are the Abyssal Hunter ones because I love that faction. The rest I read recaps or watch RUclips summary videos. I would normally read through them, but they're just too time consuming. I don't really have time for it these days.
Once you reach a certain level and 6* agent count, you just want to finish a stage ASAP so you can enjoy the 5-10 minute lore dump *coughs in Lone Trail*. On that note, strategy gets thrown out of the window if you can strong arm most stages with Surtr/Chalter/Ling. The only stages you look forward to for theory crafting are Contingent Contracts/ Integrated Strategies/ Event Boss Stages
There are 2 types of content.

Based Hoshiguma fan right heree! I got her as my first 6 star in the game, and I didn't reroll a new account or anything, I just kept it and went on. I didn't like her E1 design, and it certainly took awhile for me to get to E2, though I was still building her along with my 3stars as I progressed. I'm pretty sure that the very first character I E2'd first was Hoshiguma, and I even went as far as to max out every single aspect, lvl 90 M6 skills for s2 and s3, and maxed modules as well, have only done so for a few characters. She's without a doubt my go-to frontline every stage! She grew on me because, of course how good she is, as a pseudo AOE guard on s3, of how much of a chad character she is, her relationship with Ch'en, and her place as L.G.D. captain, she's just really cool.
@@Chara-yp6zj Holy, I couldn't word it any better than this 😎
I recommend only reading side stories that you might find actually interesting depending on the characters that are featured or just wait until you finish the main story and have 6 months of no extra stories to go through.
Main story is the the best story, just takes a long as time to get through in later chapters-
Ps: The anime is different than what you read in the game, some things are cut out likely to safe time (I only watched season 1 of the anime).
@@yokoplayinggames7019 yea I noticed things either being cut or changed in season 1, but I really liked the clarity and context it brought to certain situations.
Hoshiguma uh? I tip my hat to you a man of culture to another
Also, a thing to keep in mind - new operators are balanced only with regards to recent content. So if you get any new operators, most of the story and earlier events become a complete joke, new operators will annihilate everything with incredible ease. This can be either a positive (get through story quicker) or a negative (removes challenge)
Arknights gaccha is the best implementation of gacha I have ever seen in terms of generosity of Devs with giving pulls and 6* pull rates.
Ahh yes fellow Hoshiguma_dommy_mommy_tall_gentle_bazingas_enjoyer is always a welcome
ANOTHER HOSHIGUMA ENJOYER, HUZZA!
I undestand not reading the event stories I skip some of them too, but I'd suggest reading the main story, I think it's easiest to follow and you only really need to read a few of the side stories to make sense of it.
Act 0 and 1 are, for the most part, entirely self-contained. (You can pretty much skip Ch0-3 tho just watch the anime for that.)
As for the Victoria Arc, the only context you need is reading "What the Firelight casts" after Chapter 9, to get context on Dublin and Reed.
Honerable mention goes to the entirety of Lonetrail holy shit was that peak, from it's writing to it's setting and it's music and you only really need to read Dorothy's Vision for context. (You can read Mansfield's Break as well but it's just vaguely related.)
Hope this helps you enjoy Arknights' story as well!
Best way to enjoy arknights story for me is listening to frostbyte's AI narrated summary. You can't pay me to not skip all the cutscenes.
Gameplay wise I love that its an actual game with actual mechanics and thought put in. Especially the Contengency Contracts era was peak Arknights gameplay. Hard but also fun asf especially the lobby themes which are still in my playlist.
Character wise it has the best character designs for me. Their E2 arts and skins are top tier. Charcter themselves are great from their stories to gameplay.
I definitely agree with you gameplay wise! I also love many of the character designs, they really kill it in this game!
Played the game since 2020 and i've not spent a single dime on the game and now I have 220 PO with 100k orurus. I only need to spend like 5 mins in the game and I can easily clear the daily + weekly missions. Farming for pulls in this game is indeed god sent
Arknights story is absolutely maddening because it honestly has very high quality writing but it's almost always buried behind a long buildup. Events generally suffer from having half an hour of cutscenes before you're even out of the first combat node just so they can establish where you are, what's happening, and all the major players. It's a shame because there surely must be a better method to ease players into the given arc without drowning them in meandering exposition.
@@innenkosnarukami2450 I unfortunately agree, more words does not equal better engagement
I think probably the best story you should read is the R6S story (the one with ash that is rerunning, not the 2nd collab coming up). I didn’t know anything about Rainbow 6 and knew very little about Arknights lore when reading it, and I loved the worldbuilding accomplished using the difference between Earth and Terran technology/biology. It’s my 2nd-favorite event in the game. (My favorite is the Who Is Real event.)
Sadly I got so disappointed and mad at the Invitation to Wine event that, with the exception of Lone Trail, I have yet to read another side story. Ling’s character was so absolutely _boring_ and uninteresting that it killed all of my enjoyment of Lee and the story itself. Unlike the R6S event, I don’t ever want to read or even think about that event ever again.
But yeah, you’re 100% right about A Walk in the Dust. I’m still not sure what even happened. I’m pretty sure I finished thinking Folonic was Priestess’s daughter, which is definitely NOT true.
But I did ship Kal’tsit with Heidi for a bit, because their interaction together was cute.
3:47
I think the requirement to enjoy that event is to get curious about Kaltsit.
I was day 1 player, and when the event was out, I'm digging into the event story.
I believe, it's due to the fact that player interest in Kaltsit is high on the moment the event is presented. And how she have expectations buildup on the story and events prior to "walk in the dust" event.
Which probably late player could miss.
4:22
I believe some visual aid would be more proper (event CG, simple one is fine, as long as it does the job), considering voice line would just bloat the game unnecessarily.
It's been 4 years+ I've played Arknights, but I only got Exu last year in my main account and my 5th Arknights accounts (for reroll purpose)
As for the gacha, in all fairness, they give you a lot of currency. You get 614.32 orundum as a daily average (real number is probably a bit higher), assuming you have annihilation cap raised to 1800. That's over a pull every day.
I started in early july but im a returnee and wanted some of my old ops back. So reroll 160 times until i got my favorite Hoshiguma. Then rolled 200 times. Which got me back, everyone, but saria and ifrit who i miss.
I'm still planning on grabbing ifrit as soon as i can, but honestly, i like shu design story and Design More, then saria. So kinda drop her now from future plans.
I played ak since day 1 (not exactly day 1 but pretty close)
I was dumb and prioritizing waifu over actually usable ops (i love skadi and maggie) because of that i learned the hard way
Even more difficult I never got either blaze, eyja or schwarz
Playing maggie for 4 years now giving me ptsd of losing her drone, making me grow some braincells
0:50 my preferred strategy is deploying hot Sarkaz ladies or pink-haired global attackers
One of these is bound to work
For me, I’m here to have a fun time & use bits of my brain to strategize…if you could even call brute forcing through the missions until I get that Originite Prime from said missions.
I enjoy the gameplay and also the absolute banger of character designs. The Gacha system seems fair, in my opinion, but that could be because I’m a lucky mf; always getting the 6* I want. Also, Arknights is kinda a f2p friendly game where I’m coming from…
*(The only thing I paid for was for Gummy’s Operator pack which was just $.99 & becauseI believed she was unobtainable unless through money. I was wrong…) *
The Lore of the world and characters are interesting, however the story is not. I’ve tuned out of the story after 1-10, because I ain’t reading all that. However, I do read the Side Stories(sometimes) and do read the red highlighted important missions.
I started playing Arknights since Mid-2021. But, stopped playing it until the beginning of 2024, so even though I’m a “seasoned veteran”, I still play like an amateur. I also got severe whiplash once I noticed I had like 45,000 Orundum just sitting in my account from the last time I played…
With the story being voiced, it can reduce the word count to the efficient level.
I was doing IS while watching this video and I got a Hoshiguma for free, so thank you.

Thank you for being so welcoming!
Story presentation has been something people have been complaining about forever and I agree, good story but It can be a slog to get through.
The issue with the gacha is a little wild to me, I also play hsr, along with genshi, fgo and a few other galahs and outside of azur lane (and maybe limbus company) Arknights is far more generous with its gacha then hsr.
I tried to clear dragon lady from act 1 about 80 times combined, forgot about story lvls, obtained 8 more 6 stars after 3 months, cleared all available lvls (mudrock and mlynar carried me)
@@RedFish-nz3jc that completely checks out 😂
Quartz is far from unusable. Just don’t expect her to solo everything. But she’s still effectively a 2 block centurion with hard cc and good damage. Very useable. Account for her being a HP stick, and make up the lack of defence with people who buff defence or simply a decent healer n that’s it.
i dont consider coming from hsr as spoiled, thats just the baseline of what the playerbase deserves for playing the game. genshin historically is what i consider being a fucking slave, u are mistreated on how small anni rewards are, the resin cap is only fucking 200 still and u actually feel like ur climbing up a mountain and getting stuck and frustrated. these are massive red flags for a new player to ever experience and this game is funded by hope and sunk cost fallacy. thankfully wuwa has amped up the competition which is why we even have better qol updates this year compared to the 3 years, 3 pulls incident. there is a lot to learn from hsr, wuwa, zzz and even hi3, people like better rewards and feel appreciated for supporting the game they like
A fellow Qiubai enjoyer? The cult is growing
Ye, the powercreep made the game quite easy, but still fun. Gacha is fine tho, the shop makes stuff easy. I started 2.5 year after release and my roster was fully stacked with limited/meta units within a year
I don't really understand your complains about the story though that sounds like some typical entitled ''i cant read'' nonsense gen z's suffer from
Yes the story is bloated at times. No, voice acting wouldn't be needed because it would be way too much. And most in the story is actually explained if you pay attention.
The only issue I have with the story is that the font is just too small. Even on emulator I sometimes wish I had a magnifying glass~~
Huh, odd bcs A Walk In The Dust was part of what got me back into reading the story, since I started skipping after coming back in so long. I had no context about Kal'tsit, Passenger, or even Heavyrain & Sesa at that point, but I greatly enjoyed the story. The ancient powerful being that is now reduced to a senile old grandpa, the sacrifice & massacre of Passenger's people, Kal'tsit's mysterious & fascinating background especially regarding the ancient civilizations long lost to time. But most important of all: Kal'tsit in both a maid outfit & a butler outfit in one event ehe
One story I really didnt mind too much and was on board with was Punishing Gray Raven .... it was pretty good. Also Azur Lane has a shit ton of story that is insane to try to get into without a video guide but the writing is really cheeky and I have actually laughed at how clever it can be - they arent afraid to use modern internet culture to their advantage (which should be obvious for anime girl gacha games which thrive off internet culture)
I play 6 gachas now and fully lost the time to be playing arknights to the fullest. It's mostly to fulfill my gambling addiction through gacha and the satisfactions for having great luck in pulling. I watch guides whenever I play now just to fit my time. Worse of all is I'm still in college and have schoolwork to tackle before having my fun.
@@mionmilla7300 There's no problem with using guides :) I was just poking fun at it for entertainment sake. As long you enjoy that game, that's what matters!
Silence is my best girl!:) she has my favourite design
Myrtle is the reason why we have so many broken operators. She was the first. The DP Generator ensured we could deploy everything as quickly as possible. She's a 4-star that stands above all ye peasants with more or less stars than her!
Another ones of us, we welcome you XD
If you ask for this game's story to get voiced you'll be looking at an addtional 10gb+ worth of data maybe even more as more events get added into the game. This game also don't remove events so they get put into permanent mode eventually.
Look at Genshin, 70%± of their stories (main quest and most side quest including some events) are voiced right? Guess how much data you download to change the dubbing? The game itself is pretty big (10gb currently) adding voices to their stories will just bloat the crap of the game.
Hey, hey! Fellow late to the party partner. I'm 5 weeks in.
@@denissejasso1364 Hello hello fellow late partner! Hope you're enjoying the game so far! If you need any tips or wanna add me up just lemme know!
I still need to fill some maxed out friend supporters. What do you have? Tell me you have fiammetta :(
@@denissejasso1364 I don't have fiametta.. I actually really want her though, I've got Typhon if that's a good alternative? Skill 2 is maxed out, and she's LVL 90
Just checked. I already have one friend with her at max level.
I can still add you if you want, but I have nothing to offer. I have Specter, Mountain and Archetto as supporters... and far from being maxed.
@@denissejasso1364 That's no worries I just enjoy adding people! I'll drop my name, you can add me if you wish. :D Jaredian#6229
Katits' yapping made me stop reading her event too.

Remember, you can always consider doing some niche challenges. +90% of the game is not balanced around 6* at all, so depending on your choices, this game may not feel so challenging after all.
Bro, i started to play almost 2 years ago, i check tg, yt, reddit for the news - and i RARELY see any new players there, asking questions and shit, everyone is old players with fat rosters who faceroll any event without problems. I feel a bit sad because of it, there is no new blood. New blood left for mih*yo because it looks pretty. Thats it.
Dawg you can't slander my quartz like that, she's the reason i got 20k lmd every time she's on my trade post
I can understand about the story being bad in some ways and I respect that
Walk in the dust was nightmare to read but some stories like the rainbow six event and under tides saga were beautiful.
Arknights tend to give context and lore not through story but other methods like collectibles and some extra source material.
Which in my opinion is fun cause i get to know this world without the need of dumping it on my face everytime
That's completely understandable!
A fellow Tower Defense Player that hates guide

You're right about the story, and that's too bad. It's a cool story. I just wish there was a way for a working adult to experience it other than watching summary videos on RUclips
As a year one player, i do agree with you. However if you want to continue to play arknights long time, gacha might not be as sucky as you think. You have the benifit to know 6 months into the future so you can save for specific operators.
As anew player you will stuck with clearing story and old events, farming to level up your operators. After that your can actually farm orundum (avg 360/day in 1-7). Limited events give you 10x at start and 1x daily for 14 days in aditional to avg of 500 orundum daily.
I would rather watch an animated movie if Hypergryph make the side story into one than download 2TB of audio file just to hear them yapping
Yooo more Arknights content, immediately subscribed
Thank you!! I appreciate it!
While I don't have the same issue with the abhorrent story pacing as I've started day 1, I gotta say you're truly missing on so much good stuff. While the pacing is really bad, the overall story and worldbuilding is one of the most amazing ones in all gaming (maybe not even gaming but fiction). I thoroughly encourage you to look up ways/mediums to get into it; just ask around in bigger arknights gathering places - there's plenty. The understanding of general or even very narrow lore plotpoints helps you enjoy both the game and the characters exponentially which is why Arknights is most likely my favorite piece of media to date (and I don't even particularly read VNs)
welcome, as for how the community feels about kernal it depends
do you have all the operators on the banner, if yes you love it (cause it removes those operators from other pools)
if no you hate it
so yeah
kernal is a scam and the only reason it was accepted at launch is because "i benefit so shut up"
Rate up on kernel and standard headhunting means that you have a 50% chance of getting one of the 2 6* you choose when you get a 6*. In other words, each chosen 6* has a 25% chance of being the 6* pulled if you get a 6*. Event banners on the other hand, guarantee that the first 6* you pull will be one of the 2 featured 6*.
Funny you should mention how you lost interest in reading the story, because my experience was similar after trying to read the dialogue in the Monster Hunter event (I'd just started playing a little over a year ago) and I found myself in the same scene the better part of an hour later. That was where I decided to just skip everything, that was ridiculous.
Arknights story with voice acting is pretty much an audiobook. Quite frankly I doubt it’ll ever happen.
If you can’t sit through reading 50k+ words, I suggest watching a story summary(FrostByte262 is pretty gud for this) or reading the wiki(not the fandom one)😊
I was late to the party too, started playing in 2022 lol
The writing of Arknights in term of world building and interestingness is extremely good and probably among the best a gacha, or mobile game in general, can offer. But, and this a huge but, the writing team, or teams, tend to fall into the issue of dragging something out for too long due to alot of useless dialogues and drawn out plots diluting the stories to the extreme. I genuinely have to skip all events stories and watch recaps later if I want to actually have a life. The main story is no different, I'm still stuck at chapter 10 first stage because I can't bear to read another 4 hours long of dialogue to slog through the next 2 chapters. This is a fact btw, if you read the story of an event with added stories from characters files, related stories and overviews of other events related to that events, it will be almost, or even longer than the bible total words count. The other aspects of the game is mostly great though throughout 3 years ( 4.5 years if I count my first account playing on and off, then switch to another 3 years ago) of playing.
@@Mutualititve Arknights is the new bible confirmed 😂
The best way to get Year 1 units is through the shop but not with blue certs like you likely did but with Gold certs. Kernel headhunting is really just bait.
The shop is arguably the best thing about arknights. Since you buy out any 6 star non-limited character you want. No RNG, no fuss. I got so many characters from the shop, 6 stars and 5 stars.
about story,i skip and read the mini version of that when pops up and watch video of someone explaining it
I'm so sad that you based every single story as the same annoyance of "Walk in the Dust", everyone in the community knows about what makes that story the way it is, and that's just Kal'tsit.
She's the one character that just talks and talks non-stop, such that even in the main story the Doctor just gives up reasoning with her, because anytime we ask "What are you talking about?" after she speak an entire book of words she essentially replies with "Die."
There are good stories, but personally I've stopped reading side stories because they're sort of their own thing.
The one thing I won't forgive myself for not reading is the main story, it's extremely memorable together with the respective bossfights and all the storytelling about who are your enemies and who you're actually fighting, how those you defeat massively influences the worldbuilding.
Entering a stage after understanding your the enemy can fill you with sadness, conviction, anger or even pity for what's about to come.
I also like how they're planning to go 1:1 on the anime, altough it might not influence as many feelings towards the characters as the game does, those who play the game will definetly love to see those scenes animated, how the fights actually went and how they'll implement extra stages and multiple endings.
I personally hope they at least go to Chap.8 where the main plot ends, and then I can start hoping for Chap.9 production where the real shit begins.
I might give the story another shot!
