my brother made it 20+ years ago. i have to redo some of it, it is getting a little worse for wear. Stove is great.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Tracy
If all else fails read the directions. Lol. Got my old peak 1 out this morning and made a cup of coffee. I done the same thing. When you go awhile without using one you forget about the second lever. I had to find my glasses and read before I could have my morning coffee. Not good. Lol.
Me,, it was the pump..Too stupid to look at the arrow and the word "closed" Good thing i got instructions with it.. Did you ever work on any of the Coleman kerosene house lamps? I got one i want to try and run. Thank you for watching and commenting, Robert
Dogs were happy to have someone outside with them.. They would have not refused food but there was none.. Harper was outside in -9* for an hour waiting for me to come home and walk them.. i thought it was a good buy.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Mr Huple
5 bucks is a great deal. I still have a couple of those. Funny at that time they were concidered light weight camp stoves but they sure are reliable. I sent Native Tearz one a couple years ago when she though she was facing living of grid.
I remember you sending it to her.. Dee was pretty pleased.. She is starting to make videos again.. One thing they have is more power than any other kind of stove, and a lot better cold weather performance. I have 2 of these now, and two M1950s.. plus some 2 burner stoves. Thank you for watching and commenting, Tony
That's a great stove! I picked up a couple of vintage Coleman lanterns at yard sales last month - they are some projects for this winter when I'm stuck inside. Thumb's up!
i have a bunch of lanterns to fix. i do not have good shop to work in.. my lanterns go from the late 30's on up. i have a Coleman house lamp to work on as well.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Danny
What a deal Sean 👍🏻 and in like new condition 🤩 Gosh 1988 doesn’t seem all that long ago until ya do the math. Appreciate you sharing and getting to take a look at it. Have a great week
That was a sweet find! I'm glad it works well! We had a lot of yards sales this weekend but I've been home with a stomach virus for the last 3 days! The last time I ate anything was Wednesday night so I'm gonna try eating something today! Enjoy your Sunday my Friend!
Tough when you cannot eat anything.. you really do not feel like getting out and about. i went back to this sale and picked up a few more little treasures.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Ed
Yes, some of the older ones can be a bit different.. They still make a similar stove.. They have lots of power and work well in colder weather.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Gavin
Factory trained Harley mechanic.. i had a few.. out of it now.. Only took a bit of remembering to get the stove going. Thank you for watching and commenting, Tony
it should do some cooking.. snowing up here this morning when i was walking the dogs. Make sure you check out cast iron wednesday this week.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Mart
I love Coleman. How did you get the name Shovel Head 8? Just wondering. Striker should have started it easy. Wow, a 88 model. Everything looks good. Got the plastic case and all. Open is open 😃 closed is closed😂. She is a good one. Thanks for sharing. SH8
Shovelhead is a Harley motorcycle from 1966 to about 1986. "8" because "shovelhead" was already taken.. i was in a hurry to make a name many years ago and it was the best i could do at the time. Gas was a little old and there was not really enough in it to make the stove start easy. And operator error. Maybe i should use the excuse that "shovelhead8" comes from being struck in the head with a shovel 8 times.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Calvin
it needed some old guy to remember "Righty-Tighty, Lefty-Loosey" to fix the problem. Stove works great.. Now to find a place to put it. Thank you for watching and commenting, Doug
I have that EXACT same little stove and I've had it for 25 years! Mine is called the "Dual Fuel" model as it takes either regular gasoline, or "white gas" stove fuel.
This one is only good for Coleman fuel, but i have two M1950 stoves that run regular gas if you want.. If you take care of them they are hard to beat. Thank you for watching and commenting, Ken
Great stove Sean i have one just like it , after years of use it needs a seal kit , but always worked great, and you can find the cases for the anymore maybe eBay if your lucky, great find indeed! atb john
i would have paid more for it , but i paid what they asked.. i was going to make a case for my other one out of a plastic coffee can but never got around to it. Thank you for watching and commenting, John
Operator error for sure.. even on old gas it worked well.. Now for the other stoves and lanterns that are in the garage waiting. Thank you for watching and commenting, Mitch
This one is only white gas or naptha. They clog up with gasoline. But i have two military M1950 stoves that were made for gas.. and they sure are powerful. Thank you for watching and commenting, Mark
It is a nice little stove.. the dogs were happy to have someone outside with them. Just came back from our walk.. Thank you for watching and commenting, Ken
They were happy having someone outside with them.. they are pretty easy to please. They make sure that they get their share of when you are cooking. Thank you for watching and commenting, Fernbark
yes.. they are not as exciting as an M1950 stove when they act up, but it can put a scare into you. Thank you for watching and commenting, Tom.. been awful busy lately
Even earlier video is a single burner in the original box. With the funnel that was bought with it. I think I paid $15 for that one. Thank you for watching and commenting, Steve. Stay safe and stay cool
i was really happy, especially in the case with the wrench and instructions.. i threw in a bic lighter and now i am set. Thank you for watching and commenting, Steve
I try friend, LOL. Spent most of the day, between jobs around the house, here, catching up on others reviews. I am caught up, finally, for one day at least. By next weekend, I will once again, be A week behind. Peace, John.
I had just started using ferro rods here. And when the camera goes on, you forget all the things you were going to try. Thank you for watching and commenting, Gary. Stay safe and stay warm
good old reliable..... when it's cold and propane pressure goes away and you can't cook, the gas will work anywhere from 120 degrees of desert heat to -40
I have a couple of these stoves. And a couple of M1950s that really put out the heat on regular gas. Maybe a few full size stoves. And maybe some lanterns. Thank you for watching and commenting. Stay safe and stay warm.
@@shovelhead8 I had none but grabbed a couple within the last day from people selling them local. Scored a decent 2 burner, and a like-new 508, both for just over 40 bucks. They both work great but I got backup parts for the big one and will be fixing its pump with the leather inner piece. Should last me til I'm dead now
Nice stove for 5 bucks, but maybe you should see if Coleman has an electric model out now. It was so painful to watch you try and light that thing that a took the liberty to call Mark at Adventure Time Outdoors, Instructs for the ferro rod are in the mail. This explains why there is a missing badge on your Boy Scout vest, never passed fire starting 101. ;) Just kidding,,,,, loved the video. Magic 1
Hard to beat that price. They are a good little stove. i have a case for this one but my other one might live in an old coffee can someday. Thank you for watching and commenting, Arthur. Stay safe and stay cool
Dang Sir, that was perfect to learn every way not to try to light the stove. I personally benefit by this method of learning. Thank You Sincerely...
i had the instructions right there as well. Used to learning things the hard way. Thank you for watching and commenting, Tim. Stay safe and stay cool

I am always envious at all the great yard sale items you come across! Very nice find the 508 Stove!
i was pretty happy especially for $5.. i only needed to read the instructions 5 or 10 times to clue in. Thank you for watching and commenting, Chris
We had a regular pump Colman stove (2 places for cooking), when I grew up, it was mom’s favourite stove! Thank you Sean, good memories!
