Good videos man, I'm almost buying a 2010 Alpha, I would rather have the hard to find with a 5 speed, the one I'm looking at today is automatic, don't think they made a Alpha with the adventure package. I live in Wyoming so I might reconsider buying the H3 after listening to your comment about the wind noise at the A pillar. I would also like the back window to go down for the same reason, I fish. I also have a $15K price limit. I don't like that dipstick either......
From what I understand, the wind noise is not as common as I thought. Also, I do know they produced Alpha models with adventure or offroad packages. Those models are more rare, but I'd definitely be looking for it. I can also add that the AWD feature is pretty nice on wet or icy roads.
They 100% made alpha with adventure package. If u don't findk one, there are sweet aftermarket kits that'll actually provide more protection than factory. All the adventure or off-road package is, is under body protection and larger tires.
@@DirtwalkerOutdoors omg most definitely! That's actually the only thing that matters IMO. Also, you can get an alpha with both lockers that is not an adventure package.
@@mnyhomieI really wish people that didn't know would stop claiming what the H3 w/ the Off Road/Adventure package has or doesn't have. The adventure/off road package includes the 4:1 transfer case (rather than 2.64:1), different shocks, and 33" tires (285 rather than 265). Up to 2008, rear locker, 2009 & 2010 got front and rear lockers. The locker(s) AND the 4:1 transfer case are the most important items; the bigger tires can easily be added, although the speedo will be off a bit on the non-adventure model.
My brother is a body man. A detailer taught him how to restore that black trim, especially the a-pillars. Use a heat gun, not a torch. Once the black is back? Use "Solution" black finish trim restorer. I've got a white H3 just like yours and it looks like it's almost new. I've been using Flood penetrol on the large black plastic areas like the bumper and upper cargo rack. Really love that stuff as well! Thanks for your videos and good luck. You'll thank me for that a pillar trick.
How much do u spend on gas a week? Looking to see how this would be for me and every day use. Just for work and I’ll pop out every other weekend but nothing too crazy I don’t plan on driving crazy amount.
I love my 3.5L i5! 220 HP 220 torque. That's more horsepower than the Bronco's V8 engine. The people who say it's not a V8 can educate themselves a little more. It's got more horsepower than my Windsor in my old 94 bronco. Better gas milage too. I take mine mudding, hill climbing and down technical trails. I have more than enough horse power than I need. Not enough to get myself stuck, too. Amazing rigs! There's nowhere I can't go in my H3 that a bronco can or a comparable jeep can go.
The back compartment dome light doen't stay on when you have the rear gate open and the heated seat turned on when I exit the vehicle, the trim gets pushed down causing the switch to turn on to the hight setting...
The dipstick issue is one that irritates me as well. Having to double and triple check sometimes to see exactly where the oil level is. Grinding or filing the knurled finish off until it's flat and polishing it, without destroying it by going too far, then scribing a high/low mark might be a solution. If I try it I'll let you know if it works or not.
Pretty minor gripes overall I would say. We have 4 of these. We just retired one of them. It has 384k on it. Been everywhere with it. Best vehicles we have ever owned for us in Wisconsin.
They are minor complaints simply to have any at all. This H3 is now just under 196,000 and I’m thinking of adding an Alpha to my fleet at the end of this year.
Do you still have it. I have 2008. I got it brand new in 2007 I still have it. I love it so much. Just use for regular driving and a little fun in the snow. I have a playlist of it. Yep at the bank window not good. Also it gets a lot of dirt inside the back door panels. I’m glad you like it. Great video 👍
Interesting. I actually like the "gunsight" windows, couldn't care less about opening the rear window, and like the look of the hood louvers. WipeNew works wonders on the fading trim, although yours is pretty bad. Oh, and the Alpha (V8) has a normal dipstick.
I actually revived the black in those pillars, heat gun style. It's still looking good. The windows bug me because it's difficult to see the trail or look out and see my front tire.
Ive not found a tighter from flip or whatever the hell it is. But your right. When the winds blows hard. I feel like the windshield is about to fly off. Then I learned same thing you learned. Its those faded things on each side of the windshield. Mine was replaced and it's time to replace them again. Passenger side no longer snaps on. I'm still searching for a better quality one.
I own a Hummer, its modeled after a military vehicle hence the small windows, other features, less of a target in combat. Why don't you just sell it or trade it off if you dislike it so much. It is what it is. My Hummer is damn reliable with regular maintenance.
With the pass lock problem usually get a new key made works great on mine. When you put key in ignition wait till dings turn the key on, not crank, wait till dings then crank, told my wife these steps, she has never had to wait 10 minutes for reset since.
Texas H3 Overland I put electronic spray cleaner inside ignition with the straw it comes with and let it spray until all the dirt and grime comes out... worked for me and less hassle and way cheaper that replacing a part... no hiccups since I have done it, and before it would for it 4 to 5 times a week.
I have a 08 - H3 Alpha. I love mine. I agree with all your points though. I have had a heck of a time with the sunroof leaking on mine. Good real world video.

Well at least it doesn't have the wind noise as a jeep you would really hate those I've owned 3 jeeps and that's why I've been driving a h3 for 13 years, the other stuff you'll get used to.
