    Quinn Ewers had 358 yards on a good Georgia defense and threw a perfectly placed ball in the bread basket in the end zone that was dropped. Quinn Ewers is not the problem. The red zone play calling is the problem.

    Sorry.... It wasn't "toughness" that led to Georgia rushing the ball better in the second half, it was the schematic advantage that having a QB run threat from Stockton provided to their run game.
    The backside edge could no longer crash on Etienne on the handoff because Stockton demonstrated he would pull and move the sticks with his legs (something Beck didn't provide).

      @FanaticPerspective  Месяц назад +1

      I’m not discounting the gap control with having Stockton in. That’s part of the adjustments that needed to be made when he came in. I’m saying toughness definitely matters though bc Etienne was not 100% in this game playing with the rib injury that had been holding him out and he still got his versus us in both games. First game with Beck he had 87 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs. Plus production in the passing game. Great point on the scheme impact with Stockton but we have to give Georgia their credit too considering we have had a tougher time stopping them in the run game in both matchups.

      @@FanaticPerspectiveyeah, but that's too simplistic. This game wasn't lost because of "toughness." This game was lost by the special teams. It's that simple. AND YOU CALLED IT. Please stop with the "they're tougher." They are not. We missed two fieldgoals and gave up a fake punt.

    • @FanaticPerspective
      @FanaticPerspective  Месяц назад

      @@drew7155 These are two of the toughest teams in the country. I'm not saying Texas isn't tough, I'm saying Georgia is a little tougher than we were. Literally talking iron on iron here. Not saying that's the sole reason for the loss either. Tough teams lose games all the time, it's not end all, be all. But there's a reason our running game has been stonewalled in two games this season while they were able to run the ball effectively in both games. LOS and trench play matters. Many factors go into winning and losing, we can agree to disagree on how we assess Texas vs Georgia.

    QB: B- (Can't have a negative TD-INT ratio to get a B, lack of Arch in the RZ was a mistake, but 350 passing yards makes me give him a B-)
    RB: D (partially coaching and play calls but we also didn't attempt to run between the tackles enough and we didn't call the right types of runs to exploit their weaknesses)
    OL: B- (Missing Banks really hurt us, but we gave Quinn time to settle in and have a better game than the 1st, but we also had too many penalties)
    WR: B+ (too many drops and uncharacteristic drops, but our best unit on offense and we had two standout performances here)
    DL: B (fine, but it seems like the run leaks given up were not great at the end of the game, didn't stand out like the WRs)
    LB: B (run leaks late but the unit was solid)
    DB: A (can't give an A+ unless its a win, we bottled up Carson Beck and Gunnar Stockton pretty well, we can't ask our defense to work miracles because other groups aren't pulling their weight)
    ST: F (2 missed FGs in regulation caused the only points left on the field by both teams, found ourselves backed up inside our own 20 less than the game in Austin but still our mindset at the start of the game was off)
    Coaches: C (they improved upon the first game but still committed some of the same mistakes that lost us the last game. Georgia is too fast on the outside. Push the ball down the field and run north/south, the east/west plays were drive killers, and the penalties show a lack of discipline which is coaching. However, we were prepared to out-play Georgia, but we just didn't out-coach them, so they can't get a B unless we win. I gotta commend the fact that we were better this time than last, but going 0-2 to one team in a single season is unacceptable) Defensive coaches get a B (can't give an A to any assistants unless we win the game), offensive a D. Defense was ready to play. Offense was too pass happy (we are 1-7 now when throwing over 38x) and we didn't try to establish the run and were not patient like Georgia. They had a terrible 1st half running the ball but they REFUSED TO GIVE UP ON IT LIKE WE DID! They kept going back to the run and Etienne eventually ripped off 2 TDs. Sark needs to trust Wisner more or we will lose another game to Georgia should we happen to find ourselves in Atlanta again on the 20th of January. Run North/South to set up play action. That's how we beat them. That's the formula. We have it. I might send Sark an email about that analytical point as well.

    I used to hate Sark always going for it on 4th down because we are worse than we were on it last year but now with how bad Bert has been this year I can understand. He just does not trust Bert. I hope the man is ok. Because he's not played like he did last year. Hopefully no nasty breakup with his girl or something.

    I give Quinn a C
    Reason why
    1. Not recognizing blitzes
    2. Changing plays to shortening routes to attack the blitz concept.
    3. When he receives pressure his head and eyes go down.
    4. That side arm throwing motion too many passes get knocked down.
    5. Stare down his receivers you can tell he is pre determining where he is with the ball.
    The QB can make the offensive line look good or bad.
    You are right Special Team is horrible.
    Sark needs to get out of his own way. These the middle of the field is wide open. These blitz is leaving the middle wide open. Why are we not attacking the middle of the field. Just play calling in some points of the game no are like why.

    Playoff options to consider:
    All teams in the Power4 conference championship games (8 teams) get a bye.
    The 2 best teams that played in a G5 conference championship game (2 teams) get a bye.
    This makes playing in a conference championship game matter.
    The winners of their conference championship games get a home game for their first match-ups game. This will make winning the conference championship games matter.
    During the byes of those 10 qualifier teams, the next best 12 teams play to get 6 teams for wildcard selection. This way, everyone plays same number of games going into the Sweet 16. Only teams that might end up playing an extra game are those in G5 that ranked lower than 12 like say Army but at least they will get a chance to compete for a wildcard spot rather than being left out. Also shorten the regular season to 10 games and no scheduling FCS teams. Power4 teams must schedule 1 game from each of the remaining Power4 conferences and 1 game from G5. G5 teams must schedule 1 team from the remaining G5 conferences and 1 team from a Power4 conference. This means everyone will have at least 4 games in the FBS that is against another conference that can play spoiler in rankings even if you schedule the other conferences bottom teams.

    Offensive line(Connor, Jake, Williams) Get a B- for the fact we never ran at Georgia (for the real football heads Base) because toss sweeps and counter.
    WR A because a lot of them were open again downfield and on a lot cross routes
    RB- C But up graded to B- only because of play calling, which was a C- . QUINN EWERS 👨🏿‍🦯 👨🏿‍🦯 👨🏿‍🦯 👨🏿‍🦯
    D LINE C+ and my eyes are always in the trenches, and man Sark was right, but we couldn't generate any chaos when it mattered. LB B- I think 🤔 they were ok, but just like the Dline were fine just not dominant. NOW the secondary was A+++ THEY dominated the whole game( except PA not blocking on Jahdae Int). Special teams I don't remember us punting much, but I do remember Carrot Top missing 🤘🏿🤘🏿. So, over all, the team gets a B- because even with Quinn being 🗑 and play call, Carrot missing fg, PA not Blocking, Sark yelling at the halftime reporter, the line getting smashed and no awareness that a one armed QB ON THE FIELD 🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿we still almost won.
