- Join me as I walk you through the joy of ownership and driving impressions of a 1988 3.3 liter Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe. Having owned this 930 for almost 15 years, it's been a dream car in the stable and I'm fortunate enough to share the experience with others.
Watch as I show driving footage as well as all of the important interior and exterior details that make a 930 such an interesting, beautiful, and iconic exotic sports car of the 1970s and 1980s. From the whale tail, flared fenders, and opulent interior, to the staggering performance for its time, the 930 is an icon in Porsche history and all Turbos that followed were based largely on the groundbreaking efforts of this car and platform.

Totally agree with you comments about the skyrocketing price of these cars. A black on black '89 930 was the poster I had above my bed as a kid. I was lucky to buy a pristine 20,000 mile one 6 years ago for $35k but the skyrocketing prices made me afraid to drive it anymore so I ended up selling it for $125k last year. Wish more people could experience this car - it was so fun to drive.
We had one in 1986. White. Really fun to drive and compete in races. It did hydroplane on me a couple of times. Got it up to 160 in 1986-87 on a straightaway on the way to Atlanta from Huntsville Alabama. I'm missing our 930 turbo whaletail right now. Cops mostly pulled us over because they wanted to see the engine!
I rode in the back seat of one of these when I was a kid. Been hooked on the Porsche ever since.
Superb synopsis for a legendary iconic car :)
Man that thing needs some telephone rims. Sick ride brother.
Awesome car Chris!!!
I think this is a underrated channel, lots of interesting videos
Thanks my good friend had a 78 930 black on black car he bought new we pulled many hotties driving around in that car 0 to 60 in 1st gear 😃
Hi Cris I'm Ace I live in California High Desert Victor Ville. My lifelong dream is to own one of these beautiful automobiles and park it in my garage and just see to its every need. So, if you ever know of even just a shell of this magnificent I would love the opportunity to grab one. Thank you for your informative video, I need to have a 930 turbo. I'm 64 years old but I still want one.
Ughh I wish my dad kept this car, he had four 930's around 12-15 years ago, but he sold them all and now he has a 1988 911 turbo look, I miss the 930 so much.
My favorite Porsche ever. Thanks for the video for those who dont know this car is a monster in sheeps clothing with all the bolt on's.Headers, tubo, intercooler, prob alot more gives u 100 hp plus.Great car and still a great investment.
These air cooled 911s, are becoming serious investments.
Just imagine if you could turn the clock back to 1973 , and purchase one or two original Carrera RS models.
Collectors are paying huge money for them.
Good on you for getting the car in the early 2000's. Enjoy it.
All true:
I’ve an 88, 930 Cab, also guards red w/cashmere inside.
Basically bulletproof, beautiful, and if disrespected, a bit dangerous.
Great video, thanks.
tom rojas sounds like some women I have known! !!!!😄😄😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😎🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Our car ! If you want to check it out! ! ruclips.net/video/Q7H6T2FWPZA/видео.html
Easily the best looking 911 of all time.
Brad Miller it is pretty nice , 😎😎😎 we like ours !!! It's nice for 24 grand 😄😄 you agree ?? ruclips.net/video/Q7H6T2FWPZA/видео.html
These cars very well built.
Grandizer 45 you got that right !!! Our 85 has 168.000 on it and I can't believe how solid it is. !!! Thoughts?? ruclips.net/video/Q7H6T2FWPZA/видео.html
Loved this car. Congrats on being able to own a piece of supercar history. Yours looks great too! I'd take one of these over almost any of the newer Porsches. though my personal favorite was the 935 slant nosed. Do your mods hurt the value of it or is that something you weren't really that concerned about since you actually drive it. I totally agree about newer cars having too many gadgets. I love the simple dash that has all gauges you need (and analog too). I'm having to add gauges to my STI to get the essentials like boost and oil pressure. Nice vid thanks for sharing!
The mods are probably a wash. Dont hurt value but don't help it. Some want bone stock originals, but there are so few bone stock 930s its almost expected there have been some bolt-ons done. These cars were choked from the factory and once driven with another 100-150hp on tap, I could never go back to stock. Looks and drives like a stock 930 w/o your foot into it, but a missile when you stomp. These cars are 2950lb so 425-450 feels like 500 on modern pig. Car beats me up though. Hot, loud, hates idling in traffic. More of an occasion car.
Very clean example
"Lewd and Crude" Yeah!
I believe someone in my neighbourhood owns one of these, I've seen it drive by twice now. I got about 40 houses where it could be, I'll continue the search 😝 I'm a car photographer and I want to photograph it
My '87 is relegated to the garage.....not a queen....but out of necessity as the snow begins to fly. Been a part of my life for over 10 years. I do all my own work and have her cranking out some serious HP. 282 from the factory is great - initially - but there is so much more to easily be had on these classics. I'll have it 'till I die, or die having it..
The engines feel like choked lung cancer patients until they are opened up. I know the car isnt technically twice as fast with the mods, but dammit it sure feels like it. The torque is what I noticed most.
Also Cris, get some Fuchs on your car ASAP. It will increase the value of your car way more than the cost of the wheels.
Fuchs are hanging in the garage. Just need to refinish them.
My Daily is a Shelby 1966 Registered/Superformance RHD RIGHT HAND SILL SHIFT GT40 MKII with a 427SBF/ZF QUAIFE 6 SPEED with a Gurney Bubble and Moody/Hutcherson #5 3rd place Le Mans car Livery of Gold and Coral Pink...
What state are u in? I would love to corner carve..My 88 is slammed!! handles like a slot car!! quite big turbo;) I DONT toss specs on online. Hit me up..oh one is Cassis Red..love it!!
How does the handling compare to the Cayman?
cool car wrong wheels
Exactly. My very first thought when I clicked on the vid.
Chis, I would like to get a 911 (2005-2010) to keep for the long run and have it possibly go up in value. With the IMS bearing problem in the years mentioned, is that a good period to get into? What is your opinion, or would you recommend a different year. Thanks.
IMS issues mostly relegated to 996 Carrera. 996 Turbo used a different motor. 997s are pretty safe and out of flavor right now with the 991 being in production. Of a 997 Carrera or 996 Turbo, Id go 996 Turbo. Way underpriced right now for what the car is, reliable, fully depreciated. Get in while others are looking elsewhere. Probably a year or two left in the window.
Thank you very much
DAMN that's a badass car!!!! I'm fucking jealous!
I love the porsche. I've owned a couple of the 911's, but doesnt make sense as to why they would put a 4 speed in the 930's when the standard 911.
Loose the BBS LMS, to modern for that car.Great car though, I had a white 87 930 with the 505 option (Slant). Currently have a Turbo bodied SC.
Time has moved on. I drive a BMW M2 and it has modern tech and is a joy to drive. I tip my hat to the older cars but I want those creature comforts.
i have a 76 UR-TURBO 930,84 930 TURBO AND AN 88 930 Turbo..ALL ARE EURO AND U.K. Spec.. my dad bought them all new..the 84 was banned in the U.S. NEW...We are from England and all but one are RHD....BTW IT WAS BANNED BECAUSE OF SNAP OVERSTEER...NOT EPA..They are all here in Vail with me and have had all work done by SHARKWERKS...
nice car. what did u pay for it?? :) curious to know the profit margin
He paid 32k for it in 2003 :)
would it be possible you to give me the model of the steering wheel you have. I am in the process of buying a 87 mercades cosworth 190e 2.3 16v, and quite frankly the steering wheel is so dull from factory and I would love to possibly get that steering wheel for me car. Thank you - cody
Momo Olympic in zebrano wood and leather. Not to be confused w/the slightly different Olympic 2000 which has an oval center cap instead of round. I believe it was a JDM wheel only and is no longer in production. I checked my service records and a previous owner installed in 2001 for $425 new from a local rim/wheel dealer. When I got the car I bought the matching shifter for it. No idea on fitments. Check Ebay. Hope this helps.
1 minute in, nothing happened, im out peace
Jet damn even 3 years ago people had non attention span
I would kill to just drive one of those much less own one
You deserve a "subscribe" for just the use of the word "sycophant"!
Nice car but insanely overpriced these days
Agreed go for the 3.2 carrera 86 to 89, they are 'bullet proof' by most in the industry. The 3.2s are also way easier to drive, better torque and power curves at lower RPMs and also the performance is not much different about 0.6 of a second 0 to 60mph and a slightly lower top end... is 150 mph fast enough?
Very well done! It is a very very cool car...I agree, hang onto it as long as you can, until that kidney transplant...haha!
'cars - guns - poliitics' haha - i dont' even need to know any more - i can probably tell what your 'politics' will be
Why of WHY do people have whale tails on daily driver cars? LOL....just a TOTAL joke ....making themselves spectacles of stupidity to other people ....I mean okay IF you actually track your car at levels where it actually helps at all. I know a woman who droveSOslow scared todeath to drive ANYTHING approaching fast EVER and yet she paid so much extra money she could not afford to have the turbo performances diction Only because of the looks! Imbecile!
Dougie Quick not a fan of the wing ,? Us either , check out our car if you like! !😎😎 cheers 😄😄 ruclips.net/video/Q7H6T2FWPZA/видео.html
I disliked this video for one reason, there wasn't any driving.
