What a funny, happy man. A joy to watch this guy.
Mark put a sieve over the bucket as your crushing it so your doing two jobs in one go..
I have been using the same crusher and I've discovered that placing a sheet of baking paper on the bottom underneath the strainer tube, base plate and honey/comb then another piece of baking paper on top of the honey underneath the pressing plate really helped with removing all the components after you've pressed it. When I did it the first time without the baking paper all the components where suctioned onto the wax and I had to soak it water to allow it come apart.
Obvious questions, from where and how much
why would you remove them? it's so stupid lol, why even press the honey if you want the "clean" stuff that is void of that important nutrients
@@ArdaiThomasPoker ... Wow your a special case , you obviously have no idea why a honey press is used do you , your not a bee keeper that stands out a mile , comment of things you know not what you don’t know , I’m sure if you got questions someone can help .
Oh, you are so right about the suction/glue effect of the pressed wax, especially on the bottom strainer plate. I now use a non-stick BBQ grill mat.
@@ArdaiThomasPoker I use the crusher so I don't waste any as there is a lot of honey left in the capping after I have decapped the frames ready for extraction.
You can put a paint strainer bag ( Bunnings) in first then the wax/honey. It makes much easier to pull out the wax cake later.
That dose a basic filter to start with.
Gotta be food grade
Seen people use the Bunnings paint strainer myself, if it's new there's no problamo
Over the metal container or inside it
@@carlosmario4460 oh inside you just till the bag then l wind the top down and start to press
What ever happened to your Flow Hive? Did you get any honey? Can you do an update review on it?
My old mans a dustman
he wears a dustmans hat
he wears cor-blimey trousers
and he lives in a council flat
he looks a propa 'nana in his great big hobnail boots
hes got such a job to pull 'em up that he calls 'em daisy roots
Lonnie Donegan 👍😂
Women just think they got it bad...Hey honey I just seen a great idea,"Im gonna bolt my Extractor to the laundry room floor so it don't dance across the floor and tear the hell outta your kitchen floor again" lol GREAT idea. ..😂😂😂😂😂
A little spray of vegetable oil on the press thread works better than allowing honey to get on it. Honey greatly increases the effort of turning after multiple pressings, (unless you intend to warm soapy wash everything between pressings.... Press works well with olives as well.
May I suggest using a pillow case to hold the comb while you squeeze out the honey with your press.
What I do is fill glass bowls with the comb. Heat in the micro wave. Fill the drum to the top. Then press out. But I really like the powered auger styled press.
Hi bush bee man just wanna say i love your videos. Your hella funny. Love from Trinidad and Tobago
I got one of these a few weeks ago and had the exact same "difficulties". I laughed all the way through your video thinking "that happened to me to". With mine I'm going to make longer legs so I can get a drum underneath the outlet but it will also stay on the floor rather than lift it onto a bench.
Mum the bee man swore. He used that dirty word “Directions”
LOL Good one
I would've loved to see the wax that was remaining! I am looking at going this route. Seems more traditional.
Lovely honey drip slo-mo John. Beautifully done as usual. However, now I've looked, anyone know the history of the family name deCaux? Wow!!
What a happy man. Thanks for the great video.
Great idea, especially for beginners with limited financial resources. I love the idear.
Weld a nut on top of the T handle and you could use a battery drill to spin the T handle in or out out. Cheers
I love it!!!! So much more efficient! And cleaner!
I love it so much more efficient and cleaner
I saw you video and You are more entertaining then bee keeper. Really liked.
Well I would say it worked pretty good and that was all you had I think it would get the job done. Thanks for sharing.
We used what we called a spindle press. Basically a wooden barrel with a cylindrical acme threaded spindle. The one we had was very functional and easy to use to. We would press the raw honey, into a strainer, then into a filtering. Directly into a jar. We would always harvest the most pristine comb and cut it to display proudly in the jar with the honey. When you was wondering the name of the part it made me think of this. Thanks for that
ai caint belive ya said "directions" damm near made me ears fall ta the ground,1000 thumbs-up fer the advice,,bee blessed an safe thank ya fer the video
I might consider putting an extra fine paint filter around the inner screen barrel to filter... one less step later
Great video, I think I will check in to this press
I'm not a bee keeper YET , but some sort of filter material between the press & the tap might work better. Maybe line the barrel with a brew in a bag bag. Made of nylon so would not absorb much honey & save the second stage filtering & time. Keep it up , love your videos . I plan on joining my local bee club very soon. Your videos have let me know what I'm in for. I want the honey to make mead.
Mrs.Bush Bee man going to get you for messing up her kitchen lol
Subscribed! Bush Beeman do you have a link to this particular model of wax press? I need one of these as having same issue of more combs & old frames. Diesel DS in the States
Got 1! Found on Amazon, cost nearly $400 w/tax! Removed outta box & 2 flanges were not even welded!!! Made in China crap!!! Sending back! Where can I get a good one???
Excellent.
This might be a good idea for folks running top bar hives who want to extract honey.
Absolutely top bar hives are awesome, this press is perfect for the job , I even cut out the comb on my langstroth hive because in my honey supers bee frames I don’t run wire in them so I can just cut the comb out in blocks to go into containers for friends and press the rest for myself , I don’t sell my honey I just have what I need and leave the bees keep the rest for there hives ,
So I tried both spin extractor and the crush extractor (press). I like the press one better, but maybe that's partly because the spin one wasn't well made and kept having the frames bump against the top any time you tried to make it spin.
So with the crush extractor after awhile it gets very hard to tighten the top. And it seems like there's still some honey in the comb. How do you deal with it, and what do you suggest for when it gets too hard to turn the crank?
And is it better to try to crush a big load? or to break it down into several small loads to crush?
I believe the crush works better for the bee keepers who have those box hive without the frames
That's cool might have to get me one of those
Another interesting episode, I do enjoy your journey as a bee keeper. Keep up the good work
As a side note you could try scratch build a drill attachment to speed up the cranking.
Great idea beekeepers have some pretty novel ideas sometimes 🐝
Great video again!
Wow. You got your ears lowered 😃😃😃👍👍
Square peg round bucket?
Makes me want to come to Aussie and have a pint with you
The guy is funny, but I just wonder how would he feel if in his next life he was a bee and remembered how much honey he washed off his hands. The bee in its lifetime collects 0.8g of honey.
What hygiene rating do you have?
Oh, my old man's a dustman
He wears a dustman's hat
He wears cor blimey trousers
And he lives in a council flat
He works all day and drinks all night
And I don’t know what else the song says
But anyway
LOL someone but a fire break round the BBM ears, nothing like being careful at the moment, everything wants to burn! That looks like a good way off salvaging honey from the lids. I'd feel guilty if I cut it off the frames and made the girls make wax all over again.
I noticed the new haircut wife must have commented.
Gday BBM and john happy new yer to you and family , this looks like a good idea i bought a extractor of a website and guess what ? its been sitting in sydney for nearly a month anyway , if you did about 30 hives at a time this unit should be fine id say anyway good video take care
I'm thinking if it was me I would use that for adventurous and cheese making
"Don't do this in your wife's kitchen... SHIT!!"
the bush bee man
I wish I can see you're home office

Folks that run top bar hives crush their comb to harvest the honey. Nice summer buzz cut. That will keep the girls out of your hair.
My Request to your company to supply such Honey manufacturing company in my place Bhubaneswar city in Odisha state in India
Honey press directly from China made from the finest used X-ray and nuclear shielding Steel still available
Mr Been
LOL. Does your wife know you made fun of her?
I like that - it looks like a great method for users of top-bar hives, who don't have frames to put in a centrifuge.
I'd definitely run the outflow directly into the strainer though, to do both jobs in one pass.
I'm rather ignorant when it comes to Australian geography, so I hope you are well clear of the fires - my heart goes out to all those affected, as well as (and I hate getting political) being appalled by the attitude of your government, particularly the bogan at the top and his equally loutish cabinet, who muST be replaced by his party if they are to stand any chance of future electoral success. Those putting their lives at risk to save others should be properly equipped with up-to-date equipment and getting paid (and well-paid, at that) for their service - with full pensions to the families of those who have sadly paid the ultimate price. Much more could, should and must be done, like remote monitoring of wilderness areas so that fires can be seen and dealt with early, including bush firefighting in all basic training for military forces so that any not deployed elsewhere can be thrown into the effort in more than a support role. I'm on a disability pension, but have contributed and will continue to do what little I can afford to support those charities that are bearing the brunt of the impact.
Phil Lee they are located in Loxton South Australia most fires are hundreds of kilometres away but still hazy smoke over all of Australia.
Thanks for your kind words us Aussie’s really appreciate it 👍
They’re all around Australia, not just SA! We’re getting hit badly in South East Victoria. Aussie spirit getting everyone through it. The worldwide concern has been phenomenal.
Katy O did you read the comment ?
Katy O he says he’s ignorant of Aussie geography I was merely saying where they are located not where the fires are
And you got a bunch of bee juice as well. At least remove the bees as a good apiarist should.
I am smitten with this man! LOVE IT!!!
Thank you 😊
