- Vid of me waffling about Smash, kind of forgot that plant exists while making the video lol.
Shouldve probably been next to the other mario characters in the video but whatever rite.

Game and Watch out of all 5 of the "obscure" characters is probably the only one with a 100% chance of returning since he's been in every game since melee

Yeah! Some characters are more iconic in Smash than they are in their own games.
Mr. G&W was basically created for Smash. Before Melee he was basically like the criminal silouette in Detective Conan.
He topped Captain Falcon as surprise character, but was topped by R.O.B., who was topped by Wii Fit Trainer, who was topped by Piranha Plant. I wonder who or what might top that. Maybe the polar bear from Ice Climbers? Assumed the Ice Climbers wouls stay. Maybe the Arcade Bunny, using his transformations as moves. Maybe Dr. Wright from Sim City, using his wand to rise buildings, create tornados etc. Maybe even the N64 logo. Remember that time it was walking in the intro of Banjo Kazooie?
In my opinion I think Snake has a strong chance of returning considering the collection of Metal Gear Games that we got and that he literally got into Fortnite
Starting at the first few seconds, the editing is surprisingly good! How come this man doesn't get a lot of views?!
I feel like there's a good chance that instead of jigglypuff appearing in the next smash game, they'll add scream tail, who's basically the same thing but with a little bit more of a unique moveset and is faster.

Nice video and list. There are a few characters I’d like to discuss after seeing the video. First are the Xenoblade characters. I do think Shulk is gonna return 100%. He’s like Marth, being the first protagonist and face of the series. Smash even uses the Monado as the Xenoblade logo. As for Aegis, I do agree there’s a 50/50 chance. Xenoblade 2 did bring the series to new heights with sales, though I could see them getting replaced with a Xenoblade 3 rep if they can’t fit them in. A Xenoblade 3 rep seems guaranteed regardless though because of the nature of the series and Xenoblade 4 probably being far off. Either way, I don’t see Xenoblade being removed at all from the roster, since it’s a major ongoing IP for Nintendo at this point. Another character is Bayonetta. She is 3rd party, but her series is like a Nintendo series at this point, since Nintendo has been publishing and funding the games, making them exclusive to Nintendo since 2. I just don’t think she’d be cut when her series is like this. I’d even go farther and say that there could be another Bayonetta rep, whether it’s Jeanne as an echo, Viola because of recency, or even both.

Good video with great editing! Personally, I think the video might have been better if made in a tier list format. You'd be able to sort through each character and by the end have a full image to show off at the end of how they are placed. Regardless, I'm glad I subscribed and here's a comment for algorithm.

You put Bayonetta as an Atlus character and Joker as a Platinum Games character when it should be flipped, which doesn’t matter that much, just a teensy mistake. Bayonetta is also owned by Nintendo unless I missed something after the release of Bayonetta 3, so I’d think she has a higher chance than Joker.

Bayonetta isn't owned by Nintendo. Sega fully owns the franchise but Nintendo has the publishing rights.

Mario Wonder is a huge boom for her, and her being less effort than Rosalina and BJ gives her room (even if they gave her some differences)
At the very least shulk is 100% staying. Xenoblade is a big hitter for Nintendo now and was right next to BotW for major titles that kicked off the switch. Not to mention have you seen how many switch titles are developed at least in part by monolith soft(Xenoblade devs)? Pretty much every major title minus the mario games were in part made by them.
I'd also like to say something in regards to Square Enix. They were never difficult to work with. Sakurai has even been on record they were the easiest company to work with and you can tell it's not just pr because looking into the coding of ultimate the first 3rd party put into the game was cloud. Sakurai explained the reason cloud didn't initially have a lot of music or artwork is the different rights holders for those aspects. Square Enix don't solely own the art or music of final fantasy 7. If you ever get copyright claimed for using say, one winged angel, you'll likely see the id came from Warner Bros or Sony due to both companies(and about 20 others) own that track. Same deal with the artwork. The only reason they were able to fix that was Square Enix sold Nintendo the license for sephiroth at a discounted price meaning the money they would've spent on Sephiroth went to getting some more music and art.
And one final thing, I actually wouldn't be shocked at all to see Sora back next game. Not only was he the #1 most requested fighter ever, but Disney and Nintendo go way back. They've been working together since the 60's and work together very often. In interviews the only complications that arose when making Sora in smash was series director Tetsuya Nomura wanted Sora to be lore accurate. The process to actually obtain the license was easy and now that the design approval has been dealt with for Ultimate they could skip that for the next game.

lowkey i think wolf has a better chance of staying then falco this time around, Wolf is FAR more popular than falco nowadays and bringing back falco just because its what they always do doesnt really make sense especially when youre trying to downsize the roster where you can.
tbh i see dr mario returning, he was only cut from brawl due to time constraints... they seem oddly intent on keeping him in the series for some reason

I've never been fond of the "original 12 have to stay" argument. Literally why? If you cut Jigglypuff from the next Smash game people wouldn't care after the game's release. People want her for the sake of wanting her just because she's part of the original 12.
Personally I don't think her being one of the many Melee icons is enough of a reason to keep her and that's pretty much all she represents. Her moveset is also very bland and she's not a popular character to play
I'd consider cutting Ness too but at least he's more popular to play, is the main representative of a whole (but dead) franchise and is very unique. He's a casual icon as well.
Captain Falcon and Fox would also be on the chopping block but as with Ness they are the main representative of a whole franchise and are faces of Smash.
Well I'm not expecting a Resident Evil character.
