I personally would LOVE to see a proper remake of the original Smash Bros, but _each and every character_ gets the DLC treatment. We NEED Mario (and everyone else) to actually have moves and attacks to reference their modern appearances instead of just the one game they were based on before. Actually, having set items locations in general on certain stages in general could be really cool, not just for custom stages. Like imagine you’re playing a star fox level and there’s a room you can go inside of to get a guaranteed laser gun every time, or like places to get swords in a fire emblem stage. It reminds me of halo
I've been having this thought myself lately too. I'm hoping for a new take on smash personally. Like the GG: Strive of smash bros. Remixed smaller roster, new style, new movesets, more emphasis on gamemodes and non-fighter content. Possibly even bring back ideas from smash 4 and implememt alternate movesets, that way people don't lose their favorites What I want most though is better content sharing and more in depth stage building. A smash you can customize for yourself and friends
The way the Switch works is that if there is a hitch in performance then capture quality is reduced. Lower visuals or in some cases reducing the length of the recording. I'm sure lots of stuff you mentioned, especially like the capture footage feature are due to performance. They don't disable such a basic feature for no reason. Smash is already pushing the switch to its limit or near it (depending on stage/characters/items present oc, but yeah). I have an old pc and sometimes I deactivate shadow play (which does the same as the capture footage) for performance and I can see the framerate increase
we need each stage to have at least a couple of extra song slots so we can add tunes from other series to a stage. i hate how the super mario world stage is a “yoshi” stage, while there are mario world songs available in the mario stages that you can’t use there. also imagine adding mad monster mansion or castlevania tunes to luigi’s mansion stage. or beach tunes to beach levels, etc
I also don’t really know how the legal stuff works for IPs, but what if the switch 2 was just completely backwards compatible and we just get like one or even two more dlc fighter passes
I think keeping stage builder the exact same is not a good idea. Like there are so many things you could do for quality of life. Add a copy and paste tool. Let each material have several color variants. Let people build above the camera when not on the stage layer. Fix platforms. There's a lot of things they could do to improve it, some smaller than others
i think the best way to add custom moves would be to add less moves but not limit them to specials, for example, ganondorf could have a custom up b, up tilt and down smash, while link has custom side b, down air and grab.
The things I would want from a new Smash game is to have a different team lead take a crack at it. I think Sakurai has done an incredible job and I wouldn't mind him going back at it again, but it would be interesting to see how someone else tries to interpret what's vital to the franchise. I also would for sure like to see a more robust online system. I hope the pandemic really showed Nintendo how vital online is as well as offline features.
@@itsmevarnami The online stuff I feel like was out of Sakurai's hands because all of Nintendo's online games are compromised in some major ways. I think Splatoon is the only game that people are mostly okay with the online being what it is. There's also the issue of the Switch being a mostly wireless system and it's wireless being kinda terrible. But the leaderboard stuff def could have been improved upon.
I honestly think a remaster of an old game is the most unlikely scenario. Nintendo and Sakurai specifically see the new games as basically the updated and refined versions of their previous games. They would never release a Melee HD when all of it's characters and most of it's stages are on Ultimate.
I think papa geno said it right when he said he wants just season 3-5 fighters passes. With Microsoft rumors saying they are putting their ip on other consoles, get master cheif and conker in smash bros. I think you could do the same like with smash bros remix. Buy that project and start selling it and add your own n64 characters. If not i really want smash to go to an arena fighter. I think sakuria could save the arena fighter genre if he wanted to. Make it like more of a king of the hill fighter
Anything would be better than an Ultimate Deluxe situation What I'd like to see is a hard reboot: a smaller roster of carefully selected fighters each one with the attention to detail of a dlc character Also more side-modes wouldn't hurt
I feel honestly more likely that Smash Ultimate is most likely, but there are more things I would appricate no matter what. 1. Adding the rest of stages that didn't make Ultimate cut would be nice, but preferably with Ultimate then of Everyone is Here as well. There are like 16 missing stages, or 14 depending how you wanna count them and I'm not counting in Flat Zone and Flat Zone 2. 2. Proper All-Star Mode feels to be a nice idea, rather than just All-Star Smash in Mob Smash Mode. I don't know how they would create a new one if it was the size of Ultimate, but any smaller sizes they could just re-use the ideas from Melee to 4. Nitpicking thought: More love for the Mii Fighters. Even if everyone isn't a fan of them, I wish they would be involved in like everything that the other characters are in, example Classic Mode. This depends a lot on if they will even return and if they still have the unique customisation of Mii Fighters, but I wish personally that to be a thing.
i think a better way of doing custom specials is the risk of rain 2 approach where not every special necessarily has an equal amount of alternate variants, just however many they can make or come up with also, hear me out: smash run, but instead of competing against other players or cpu's, its a roguelike that acts as the game's story mode also special unlockable alts would be cool
What I feel is most likely isn’t that there’s a true “ultimate dx” just that the next console will be reverse console and there will be an upgrade for the new system then extra dlc would be released.
I'm not much of a professional but a lot of times when it comes to big IPs like this they disable the switch recording ability because of copyright reasons like other big games that have a bunch of crossovers have that problem like dead by daylight on switch and their excuse was because of different franchises that they have if the contract on one or another goes out of like their system you can't record because then you're recording content that they don't have permission to show on there which is weird because a capture card does the same thing it's a weird legal mumbo jumbo
I'd actually like to have the whole remake/better textures thing. The other Smash titles are good in their own rights and a more streamlined way to experience them would be incredible. I mean, Wiis aren't expensive but "retro" tech and games are getting harder to find and setup nowadays. Unless you wanna emulate.
I don't think it's plausible to port Melee to Switch since Melee requires analogue triggers for a majority of the tech. They would have to rework the game to make that happen. It's more possible for them to port over Brawl which I would actually be down for if it included balance changes and some adjustments to the floatiness and tripping were removed.
Kinda hoping they add some form of Turbo smash into the next game. It's unlikely but it would be fun. It could be an option in special smash or it could be something like your final smash. I liked the idea of instead of a character having a final smash, they would go into turbo mode for a bit. Kinda like Wario in smash 4 if I remember correctly. I don't want this to replace final smashes, but be on option to override them if you want to.
Honestly i just want equality throughout all the franchises. Yes, some just dont have much to work with which results in limited features like Game and Watch. But, huge ass franchises like Sonic and Zelda are shafted so hard. The favouritism of certain ips too is maddening because you get barebones representation and then get Terry or Kazuya with so many music tracks and features.
1:40 To be fair there's a large chunk of pre-existing IPs that people want more reps from. Kirby is in a sore spot, Waluigi is missing, we have 2 Final Fantasy 7 (literally one game) Reps but only 1 Sonic character (Where's Eggman!?), etc. Don't get me wrong, people would be disappointed with ONLY First-Party, but there's plenty of room for downtime. I feel like instead of revamping the old characters, there's just other characters you can make in certain cases to represent what people would want from characters that are intentionally simple. Kill current Breath Link and Samus, sure, but Mario's varied powerups and moves can be represented by Toad and Kirby's many copy abilities can be handled by Gooey. I'd be fine without Trophies (or 3D Modelled Spirits) as long as they gave Trophy Descriptions to Spirits. 10:42 I assume that if this is a thing then its disabled nature is to help the performance of the game. Storing video data up to 30 seconds with audio CONSTANTLY seems like it'd lower performance of the console, right? 13:02 I hate that this isn't just Shiny Greninja
My guess is that the 30 second built-in capture feature takes too much of the Switch’s active processing to keep performance in Smash optimal. Fortnite disabled it several years ago too. No idea if that’s the case, but it might be🤷♂️
Idk why you say it's unlikely they'd make more single player content in a new entry. They've obviously learned from smash 4 and put way more effort into it in ultimate, i don't see why they wouldn't keep that trend going
In my opinion. I want terry bogard keep it in the roster in Nintendo switch 2 new console. Plus I predicted and dreamed SNK corporation characters all the time in my heart ❤️ and last also they have ADK (alpha denshi) world heroes one of SNK games. Have one fighter as hanzou, and hanzou’s echo fighter as fuuma with exact world heroes victory music.
As someone coming from Brawl, I'll say proudly what everyone knows but no one wants to hear about cutting characters: While everyone is eager to point out newer characters that can easily be cut for a post ultimate smash bros (and rightfully so), melee nostalgia is blinding some to the fact that Dr Mario and Pichu add nothing to the roster and should be echo-fied, alt-costumed or cut. Their inclusion in smash bros is about the only notable thing about them in todays gaming culture, Brawl was right to cut them. Not mad enough at me? I'll go even further and say this extends, in part, Ness and especially Jigglypuff. But I'll be realistic and say that those will stay simply because their appearances in smash bros make them notable enough -and more importantly easy to implement- .
Rule 1 when it comes to Sakurai... He _never_ plans on making a sequel. The man _hates_ them. So literally EVERY Smash Bros. game is made with the mindset of it being the last. The only reason he made more is because if he didn't, Nintendo would do it without him (and he doesn't think they could do it right unless he stepped in to help). Thing is, Smash Bros. is way too popular to die. Nintendo would never allow it. Its not a question of if, but rather _when_ will the next Smash Bros. come out. If they do, either Sakurai will come out of retirement (again) or it will be the first Smash game to not be directed by Sakurai. Sorry I made such a long comment lol. XD
I feel like the best games to remake are 64 and Brawl. 64 remade could serve as a new beginning for smash, updated characters with completely new movesets that better fits them, although i dont know what else youd do there. Brawl always was disliked for its gameplay, so a remake would not only fix that, but also brin subspace to a new system. Melee is beloved for its combat, so a remake would only be controversial. Sm4sh just needs some stuff ported over to the newer games and thats it really.
i wish moves were less safe/spammable. like smash attacks those feels like they are supposed to be the high risk high reward attacks, but most characters have really safe ones, which doesn't make sense to me. the same goes for lie big specials, alot of time their hard to punish
I really think “Ultimate Deluxe” is the most logical step forward (whether or not it’s literally under that name is 50/50, but I do think the content that title would imply is the most logical step forward)
I think they are probably already working on Smash. They probably want this game out in the first year or two of the new Switch which is probably 2024.
I Bet we will get Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe Edition Announced for Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 i make more Sense than a Reboot in the Super Smash Bros Series !!!!
Honestly it's kind of pointless to even discuss what the next game will be. For all we know Sakurai could somehow do the impossible again and just do "Smash Ultimate but bigger and better". Ultimate is lacking in certain areas such as single player content so they can expand on that. A lot of iconic/requested folks are still missing from the roster. They already have the perfect game in their hands, all that is needed is to expand and polish it. Smash isn't like Mortal Kombat in that they could just hit the reset button and start again from scratch. Smash is a Nintendo AAA game that is meant for the masses, MK as a traditional fighter is destined to be played by the kind of people who would play traditional fighters. I mean if you were a casual normie who doesn't keep up with gaming news that much, what would you prefer? A roster of 82 characters from all over the gaming world? Or Mario tossing Cappy for a move? The idea of old characters being remastered sounds cool but unless they strike a balance of old and new it'd be jarring for people who are accustomed to playing said characters, and it could potentially get in the way of newcomers being added. A port with minimal changes is not going to be convincing for the 30 million people who bought the game on Switch unless they get the roster to 100 characters or something, but then that could be done just by making two more fighter passes. If they can't get everyone back, I suppose the next best thing would be a compromise between the two. Have a roster of around 60 characters. Polish the characters that need it, do a full revamp only when absolutely necessary. Expand the single player content. Add new characters like Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, a Monster Hunter, Doomguy, Leon Kennedy, hell even freaking Saber from Fate or Reimu from Touhou, I don't know. Expand on the DLC by also adding new game modes, stages, skins, and cut characters periodically. Finally fix the goddamn online mode. Boom you have a game that isn't a full sequel to Ultimate but can stand alongside it. Or idk I'm not Sakurai, we just have to wait and see.
I wanna see trivia come back. Stuff like trophy descriptions, the chronicle, stuff like that. What ultimate has is a disgrace, like I can't even see what some spirits origin game even is or when it came out or how I can play it. "Tips" are nice but honestly not enough for the amount of content the game has.
The easiest thing to do is make Smash Ultimate Deluxe with like 8-10 new fighters and a few new map remakes. To me, theres still some major Game Titans missing in Smash Bros. Master Chief and Crash Bandicoot stand out immediately to me. Spyro would be cool. Lara Croft was one of the first big video game franchises to branch out into a...decentish film lol. Some Echo Fighters like Dixie Kong, Shadow, and the OG Female Protag Ms. Pacman. Tails OR Dr. Eggman should already be in. And the last slot could be literally anything. But probably another fire emblem rep 😂
Sakurai has said on his channel that he intentionally made some of the games slower to help casuals, so I really want to see what a smash title catered towards competitive players would look like. No way it will happen, but it would be cool
Yo PKBeats I have a fact but how do I submit it? The fact: As young link, if the timer item backfires and you are slowed down, if you do your down taunt, the milk will disappear in basically 2 seconds
His preferred method is Twitter but comments are sometimes considered. It's just he has so many facts and comments that YT stuff gets kinda buried and shuffled to the back of the line.
My prediction: the next one is just gonna be a generic Mario game. No Zelda. No Mine Craft. Just Mario. Just like those Sega crossovers. At least that might bring a huge probability of your precious Waluigi.
Icl just port ultimate with 2 new dlc waves. Rework some characters and get us used to the new series director. Gives him a nice easy job to get his feet under the table too
Literally all I want for the next smash game is a custom control’s overhaul (turn off buffered short hop aerials, customize buffer window, etc) less input delay (online and off), and patch PMLG. Do that, and I’ll pay another $60 for a game I already have.
I too loved customizing characters. especially since smash 4 made so many, _many_ characters unusable. Taking a floaty and way-too-fast character and making him strong and heavy felt great.
Here's what i want in a new smash game. Remove most of the fire emblem characters there are just to many of them. Also GET RID OF SPIRITS THEY ARE BORING AND DUMB and one last idea if they bring back the original characters you know mario, donkey Kong etc GIVE THEM NEW MOVESETS
(6:10) In that case, try to rethink how controls work. For example: Smash has tilt and smash. But what if that was removed in favour of a weak and strong attack. You still have 3 directions + neutral, but it would give you one more attack. The benefit is more reliable attacks with dedicated buttons, plus one more attack. More polish could be having an actual grab input, instead of it being shield+attack. This will solve some oddities in the game. Minor tweaks that I think would make it better.
I don't believe we are going to see a new nintendo console very soon because the switch is still selling great and it seems like a lot of new games are still being released.
They said the Switch will get support for 5 more years but I see it being like PS4. New hardware comes out but plenty of games still receive versions on the last one.
I support the theory that the next Smash game mght have a smaller roster. At least at the beginning. Then it might grow bigger thanks to a longer series of DLC. Things I want from the next Smash are: A story mode that implements the best of Melee's Adventure Mode and Brawl's Subspace Emissary, no more echo fighters, a return of the trophies and a better classic mode. The idea of a classic mode with a lore is cute, but could be improved by implementing different paths, decided by the player or by the way you beated the opponents.
Ever considered doing vids about Tekken or Street Fighter? I imagine that kind of content would look a lot different from what you normally do and obviously there’s a huge learning curve for both games but I love how much attention you pay to the little details in things and it’d be cool to hear what you have to say about those games.
I would love a custom character mode and custom story mode. How can you have all these characters and not have a custom story mode? I would love to see it and more in depth with the miis with Custom Characters. Like you see in Soul Caliber. Restarting the roster is dumb in my opinion. The roster gets bigger and bigger with each new game. Which I'm all for
It's because they have so many characters that story mode was cut. Needing to make a bunch of custom stages, cutscenes, writing a plot, all that stuff. It takes time and money. Money that they prioritized using to get Cloud, Snake, and Bayonetta in the game
First of all, I wish Smash would just take the route tekken has and just support the game for 10 years. Just continuously add more characters and some new mechanics or modes here and their. Secondly, I wish there wasn't so much of a reliance on Sakurai. Don't get me wrong he's great and all, but the dude is getting old and I'm sure there are plenty of people at HAL, Bandai Namco, and Nintendo that can make a competent smash game. If we get a new smash game and some of the characters are gone, it's honestly going to be lame because nothing can top what we have already other than adding more characters
Emulating games is hard. Melee especially requires analog triggers. And if you were to ask them to rebuild each game into one package, like 5 remakes at once, not only would that be so much work it'd be unfeasible. But the odds that it'd be 1:1 would basically be null. So many coding and hardware quirks from 25 years ago that they'd probably be completely unable to recreate every little interaction or bug.
A Melee HD that fixes all the jank (by "Jank" I mean stuff like Roy's attacks not working properly or Game & Watch as a whole, not L-Cancelling and other techniques) and adding Online play would be a great way to port the game to the Switch and bring it to a new audience.
My personal theory is that there won’t be an Ultimate Deluxe, but simply a fighters pass 3 and potentially 4 further down the line. The Smash team are clearly active again cause of the new spirit events, and I believe this would be the best outcome. If a deluxe version came to switch 2, that would divide the player base between two consoles, and so simply adding more DLC would mean that OG switch players could play it, while switch 2 players could also play via backwards compatibility. I also think there’s a good chance that there will be a switch 2 patch for Ultimate, with improved visuals and loading times and whatnot

Oh wow! I assumed it was made in a Picrew or something! Your friend is a great artist! That's so nice and amazing of him! 😊
i think the best way to add custom moves would be to add less moves but not limit them to specials, for example, ganondorf could have a custom up b, up tilt and down smash, while link has custom side b, down air and grab.
Yeah I kinda want someone else in charge of the online and leaderboard system tbh Sakurai did not cook in that department
It didn't. Nintendo has learned nothing from it sadly and hasn't really done anything to improve it.
@@Kamodomon GSP was Sakurai's idea
Anything would be better than an Ultimate Deluxe situation
What I'd like to see is a hard reboot: a smaller roster of carefully selected fighters each one with the attention to detail of a dlc character
Also more side-modes wouldn't hurt
I agree. No Hero - no buy!
i think a better way of doing custom specials is the risk of rain 2 approach where not every special necessarily has an equal amount of alternate variants, just however many they can make or come up with
also, hear me out: smash run, but instead of competing against other players or cpu's, its a roguelike that acts as the game's story mode
also special unlockable alts would be cool
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe would fare better sales wise than a Smash Reboot.
Im fine with anything they do as long as the community goes down under eventually
I’d like the replay feature a lot better if buying dlc wasn’t mandatory to convert matches you played against those characters to video
i still think for a new smash bros, it should just be smash run but more fleshed out with ultimate’s roster and engine
13:02 I hate that this isn't just Shiny Greninja
yeahhh new smash soon
Coming back to this comment when the next game comes out
My guess is that the 30 second built-in capture feature takes too much of the Switch’s active processing to keep performance in Smash optimal. Fortnite disabled it several years ago too. No idea if that’s the case, but it might be🤷♂️
Switch 2 or whatever should have that back for everything I bet
You don't need to cut half the roster to improve the movesets of older characters
As someone coming from Brawl, I'll say proudly what everyone knows but no one wants to hear about cutting characters:
While everyone is eager to point out newer characters that can easily be cut for a post ultimate smash bros (and rightfully so), melee nostalgia is blinding some to the fact that Dr Mario and Pichu add nothing to the roster and should be echo-fied, alt-costumed or cut.
Isn't it supposed to be the last smash game?
Although, brawl was supposed to be the last as well.
So was melee
Sm4sh just needs some stuff ported over to the newer games and thats it really.
bro you missed a golden opportunity to make a 20XX joke in the thumbnail (though with hax getting cancelled that may have been a wise descision)
Wavedashing and L cancelling were intentional but a lot of the other stuff about Melee wasn't. Still, I don't want Melee being "patched"
Reworking l cancelling would be great, since it sucks as it is
i wish moves were less safe/spammable. like smash attacks those feels like they are supposed to be the high risk high reward attacks, but most characters have really safe ones, which doesn't make sense to me. the same goes for lie big specials, alot of time their hard to punish
Nitpit followup video!
If they were to rerelease smash ultimate but bring back all old stages and give a couple brand new ones I’d probably buy it for full price…
I wish the custom stage mode was more like littlebigplanet
If i was nintendo, i would start looking to entering the public domain characters 😎
I want more unique spirits.
Theres no poison or self poison spirit.
So the poison healing spirit has been pointless.
What a way to end the school day
Bringing back CDs, now that is a hot take.
Sakurai has said on his channel that he intentionally made some of the games slower to help casuals, so I really want to see what a smash title catered towards competitive players would look like. No way it will happen, but it would be cool
Yeah I kinda want someone else in charge of the online and leaderboard system tbh Sakurai did not cook in that department
Yo PKBeats I have a fact but how do I submit it?
The fact:
As young link, if the timer item backfires and you are slowed down, if you do your down taunt, the milk will disappear in basically 2 seconds
His preferred method is Twitter but comments are sometimes considered. It's just he has so many facts and comments that YT stuff gets kinda buried and shuffled to the back of the line.
"Let the pokemon from pokeballs be shiny." The pokemon shiny hunters 😮
Should've put 20XX in the thumbnail instead of 202X :)
I think the new smash would focus on add new ip instead of bringing the new one
EASY.. REMATCH OPTION! PLEASE
i want pokefloats
My prediction:
the next one is just gonna be a generic Mario game.
Taking a floaty and way-too-fast character and making him strong and heavy felt great.
oh that's what I did with Zero Suit Samus
oh that's what I did with Zero Suit Samus
oh that's what I did with Zero Suit Samus
oh that's what I did with Zero Suit Samus
oh that's what I did with Zero Suit Samus
Hear me out...Smash Run 99
I want cooler alt skins, like actually unique appearances
I would love a custom character mode and custom story mode. How can you have all these characters and not have a custom story mode? I would love to see it and more in depth with the miis with Custom Characters. Like you see in Soul Caliber. Restarting the roster is dumb in my opinion. The roster gets bigger and bigger with each new game. Which I'm all for
It's because they have so many characters that story mode was cut. Needing to make a bunch of custom stages, cutscenes, writing a plot, all that stuff. It takes time and money. Money that they prioritized using to get Cloud, Snake, and Bayonetta in the game
runsafe?
First of all, I wish Smash would just take the route tekken has and just support the game for 10 years. Just continuously add more characters and some new mechanics or modes here and their. Secondly, I wish there wasn't so much of a reliance on Sakurai. Don't get me wrong he's great and all, but the dude is getting old and I'm sure there are plenty of people at HAL, Bandai Namco, and Nintendo that can make a competent smash game. If we get a new smash game and some of the characters are gone, it's honestly going to be lame because nothing can top what we have already other than adding more characters
Better Help steals and sells personal information
Why not Super Smash Bros Brawl HD???
can they just put all games in one?
Emulating games is hard. Melee especially requires analog triggers. And if you were to ask them to rebuild each game into one package, like 5 remakes at once, not only would that be so much work it'd be unfeasible. But the odds that it'd be 1:1 would basically be null. So many coding and hardware quirks from 25 years ago that they'd probably be completely unable to recreate every little interaction or bug.
Sakurai is only 53 years old, yet people think he should retire. Miyamoto is 71 but people get anxious when he mentions he wants to retire. Okay then.
sakurai himself wanted to retire. At the end of the its their opinion😶
digimon rumble 3
you missed the oppurtunity to have "20XX" in the thumbnail...
A Melee HD that fixes all the jank (by "Jank" I mean stuff like Roy's attacks not working properly or Game & Watch as a whole, not L-Cancelling and other techniques) and adding Online play would be a great way to port the game to the Switch and bring it to a new audience.
Lol Ridley will not be there😥
My personal theory is that there won’t be an Ultimate Deluxe, but simply a fighters pass 3 and potentially 4 further down the line. I also think there’s a good chance that there will be a switch 2 patch for Ultimate, with improved visuals and loading times and whatnot
i think that in the next smash game there should be:
no shield poking
no out of shields that kill
no kill throws
