New York appeals court delays collecting massive judgement from Trump

- Former President Donald Trump will not have to come up with a $454 million bond on Monday after all, a New York appeals court ruled.
The court gave Trump 10 days to come up with a $175 million bond to satisfy the judgment in the civil fraud case.
New York Attorney General Letitia James was prepared to seize some of Trump's assets prior to the appeals court's ruling.
Trump's attorneys argued before Monday that forcing Trump to give up assets could have damaged the former president.
"Obtaining such cash through a 'fire sale' of real estate holdings would inevitably result in massive, irrecoverable losses - textbook irreparable injury," his lawyers wrote in a court filing last week.

Tax payers of NY got hurt because of his fraud. By Trump deflating his properties, he ended up paying less taxes and when he over inflated the properties he got better loans where otherwise he wouldn't have qualified for such higher loan limits. Don't tell us nobody was hurt.
NY’s consumer fraud statute doesn’t require damages. It’s contrary to typical fraud. That’s why no one should do business in NY unless they want to be next.

The case was heard in a court of equity where the law has to be fair to both sides. The losing party has absolute appellate rights. A reasonable bond or pledge to not divest his interest in his real estate w/out court approval during the appeal period is reasonable.
