- Our Catholic Cooking this September has a fun twist! We're trying a recipe from a Catholic book of spooky short stories called "Shadows Visible and Invisible". The authors at Catholic Teen Books have created this wonderful collection of tales of Hallowtide (Halloween, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day) and all the traditions that go along with it- including a recipe for a very special Halloween treat. We'll also be trying out a seasonal drink and a very interesting dessert to go along with that. It could be a frightful time in the kitchen... or will we be cooking up a feast? Join us for another fun round of creating Catholic cuisine to find out!

I, also, have never had a pumpkin spice latte. Not a coffee drinker, but I'm open to trying one to see what the big deal is. I think, like Kate, I may find they don't live up to the hype.

Oh the soul cakes & pinwheels sound & look just so yummy! I thought that you did great; your efforts are certainly to be admired. I just absolutely loved your blueberry cornbread from last time & plan to make it again. I have been making homemade ice cream w/ salmonberries & blueberries that I picked out on the tundra.

(In England, we would call those soul cakes “biscuits” rather than cookies - it’s very confusing that in the US biscuits are something quite different!)

Who is this visiting Cardinal? Maybe I missed his formal introduction in another video? 😸
The Cardinal is a large man who belongs to Kate's grandmother. He has nothing but love for all his fellow creatures and is spending a week here at the rectory with us while she is out of town. He's also checking up on some other clerical doings here in our domestic church, so stay tuned for more details to come :)
Have you ever tried to bake Pan de la muerte ( Dead bread)? Most of these are baked for honoring the dead in Mexican cultures.🎃
We have not, but it sounds like something we need to try. That would be a fun addition to the All Saints party!
