When each of my three children turned two, I gave them the Holy Family figures for their own nativities. They were from Fontanini. Each year afterward, in Advent, we'd go to a store that sold Fontanini figurines and they would select one new figure for their nativities. Their selections reflected their personalities - when my son was three, he decided Baby Jesus needed a dog, so that's what he chose. The next year, he decided Baby Jesus needed another dog, so his nativity has two dogs! One of my daughter loved horses, so her nativity had lots of hooved animals. My other daughter chose lots of female figures for her nativity. Although the figures were not inexpensive, I thought they were worth it - each child had their own lovely nativity when they grew up and left home.
Love this!!! We especially love how you let them create their own sets without jumping in to balance them out. What wonderful memories you were creating ❤️
With the price of movies, another good one is to vote with your dollars and splurge on going to see wholesome, family-friendly films when they come out, especially ones that are faith-based. Same with musicians!
I would only add a Catholic silent retreat if possible (especially for mom) and an occasional marriage retreat as well. In addition, date nights for the parents!
I have a beautiful nativity set from Austria, hand carved and hand painted. I spent 15+ years building it up, buying another piece or two each year. I love it, it’s by far my most precious Christmas tradition to bring it out and set it up each year… Your haircut is beautiful Kate😊
That was a helpful list. Kate, your hair is beautiful. I have asked for some of these items as gifts. Two of my favorites I received are a beautiful miraculous medal necklace and a large statue of the Blessed Mother for my garden.
I would like a beautiful statue of Our Lady and some beautiful framed Catholic art! Thank you for your charming and important posts. God bless you both! Mary
I used to get the Magnificat, agree it is great, but I was not able to get to reading all the content. I invested in the Saint Joseph Missal set and it has been great for me, I’ve been able to enjoy it!
Oh this was just so awesome; so many beautiful things. Kate's bible is very nice (and her haircut). I just love stained glass & I dream of going to a conference/pilgrimage one day. Thank you for being here for us !
I was contemplating purchasing the Nativity scene at Costco for $100.00 but wasn't sure If I should spend that much money. I know now I should and can't wait to go buy it. Thank you so much!
Kate, your haircut is perfect. I love your pink rosary beads. Do you happen to know where it was bought? I would like to own one too. I would splurge on really good quality statues. ~ mainly the Blessed Mother.
@@catholicmomanddaughter Thank you. I looked on Catholic Company and WOW. I couldn't find one exactly like yours but there are many many beautiful rosaries! I'm going to get one but it's so hard to choose!! 😊
I’ve had several Gregorian Masses arranged this past 12 months through Missionaries of the Holy Family out of Missouri. They were very good to deal with and prompt to mail a card to the families etc.
Thank you so much for this video. My husband, my self and our son, have gotten the Rugged Rosaries. They are absolutely beautiful and worth the money. Ms Kate, love your haircut, its absolutely gorgeous. Continued blessings to you all ✝️🙏🏻💜
Your haircut is just lovely on you, Kate ♡ You have beautiful hair. 💐 I agree that a lifetime Bible is a worthy investment. And the TAN planner is a favorite of mine, too. Many times a group of my friends have pitched in for the Gregorian Masses. It's a really meaningful gift. Divided between 8 or 10 people the cost is not so daunting. All these are great ideas!
You had made a suggestion in a previous video about a Catholic To-Do list. I started one based on that suggestion about 2 months ago and I love it! It ensures I put aside time every day to spend with God. I think I am going to get that Tan Catholic planner.
Thank you for the video 😊. I bought a quite expensive bible with a zipper and I use it a lot. I like the gray Youcat book to pray too. Have a nice day!
Yes!! A nice Bible makes such a difference! I love that you can get paperback Bibles for free just about anywhere, but over time it gets torn and tattered.
You forgot to mention a nice crucifix for the wall. I got ours off ebay. Beautiful, and affordable. Currently searching for a vintage St. Joseph statue.
New watcher here and I am loving your videos! I just wanted to say that I've gotten the Magnificat for a few years now and it's worth every penny. Only comes to around $1 a week actually. My only problem is they're too pretty to throw away and I'm developing quite a stack!
Thank you for your kind words! We are so glad you are enjoying our videos :). Lol- we agree that it is very hard to part with our old Magnificats; glad to hear we are not alone :)
When I went to CATHOLIC grade school many of the .prizes given were very expensive rosaries and catholic books along with cameras cooking books etc I have spent money on . Pilgrimages to FZTIMA., LOURDES, HOLY LAND , AND OBERAMMAGEAU.. PASSION PLAY. .I.have bought HOLY LAND ARTICLES that come from. ISREAL MADE IN OLIVE WOOD. Another surprise was when attending figure skating in WASHINGTON DC I got to attend mass at the Pilgrimage site of the BASILICA OF THE VIRGIN MARY. The MASS and church is awe inspiring.
As Catholics our homes are suppose to be domestic churches. It baffles me how many do not know this and have so few Catholic items in their homes to reflect their faith. What happened to the home altars? Or even a crucifix over all doorways? Items throughout the house to remind us of who we are and how we need to be living. . where are they?
HI, Michelle- yes, Catholic homes do look very different on the inside! We made a video about that; you might enjoy it! ruclips.net/video/cqrNHwyB18A/видео.html
I *feel* this! Book recommendations usually from trusted Catholic podcasts. I cherish my Blessed is She Bible. Catholic commentaries was a splurge this year.
Love everything about this video. I’m always used a planner, started with Franklin then Happy Planner now using one from Amazon. I’m going to invest in a Catholic Planner. I also love decorating them too and get my stickers from The Hopeful Planner. I also subscribe to Magnificat (Large print 😀) and Hallow. Both worth the price. I use Magnificat when attending daily Mass or watching online. I would love to get a nativity set. I saw a nice one in Costco’s last year, it was to big for my apartment. It was about $200. I would love to have the blessed mother. I just purchased a Sleeping Joseph rosary holder for my bedside.
Hi. I had to come back for a recommendation. We’re honoring children’s wishes for Christmas. One child asked for a framed photo of St Jude. Any recommendations where I could get this? Thanks.
Hello- we knew that post Vatican II more scripture was included in the mass (the Sunday mass going from 2 Bible readings to 3) with more variety in the scriptures being read, but we can't find anything that indicates that the Bible itself changed in content post Vatican II. Is there a resource you can direct us to as to why a pre-Vatican II Bible would be better? Thank you!
@catholicmomanddaughter There is nothing written. It is just a known fact that since V2 the wording has been watered down. Our priest calls it the Coumba years. Even the Our Father was changed and that prayer should never be changed. It was given to us by our Lord.
Hello- it's very simple to ask the Blessed Mother for help. You can ask her to pray for you just as you would ask any friend to pray for you. She is our mother and delights in helping us!
What? But we saw your comment about buying BB's Bible series. Now we can't find it, either. This is very strange…. only the original poster, the channel owner, or RUclips itself can remove a comment. We have just read that YT can delete a comment with no warning for what it deems policy violations. Not sure why BB would violate any policies. We are sorry, Margaret!
Hello- what a good reminder that we all need to pray for each other every day. We pray for Pope Francis (and all our priests) daily. We hope you will join us!
What is your favorite Catholic item to splurge on?
❤
Gregorian Masses
Rosary beads
@@catholicmomanddaughter Rosaries
I would be ok with splurging on a Mary outdoor Statue if I could find the right one! I think it would be good for an outside grotto or shrine.
Completely off topic, but I wanted to tell Kate I LOVE her blouse and her haircut!!!
Ahh thank you!
