This is the way how anyone should play a game, you set a goal then ignor it because you saw something interesting
Exploration in a nutshell
TOTK really is "hey what's that" the game
took me two day to finish my queue of things to do before heading to one of the four areas with dungeons. Among other things, sumbled on the final boss room before doing like, the first thing in the game
Literally like any other open world. Nothing special
Ignore
9:37 just to be clear, this was answered in BotW. In the final cutscene, we see the spirits of the champions (and the king) disappear, so they can no longer offer their assistance with their powers. So no Ravioli for you in TotK
In case anyone was wondering like I was, they also dismantled all the ancient technology like Guardians and Divine Beasts
@@R0b0SquidHDMC i did, but like how and why? The plot hole is pretty big and i am kind of disappointed at that
Edit: Also, they didn‘t bother to rebuild central hyrule one bit but dismantled every ancient technology for whatever reason?
@lYcronix its a major point that they we're rebuilding all of Hyrule. The Castle and Castle Town are nothing but ruins, the cleanup would take a very long time so they just built a new town outside of Castle Town. I'm not sure how, but they dismantled all the Guardians for parts to better their society, SkyView towers being one such example.
But at the end of they day, it's Zelda. There are some assumptions you have to make, and it's not going to make perfect sense from our perspective
In the true ending of Botw, Zelda and Link journey to Vah Ruta. It's said that something is wrong with the divine beast. Perhaps the ancient tech just went back into the ground.
@@smangaming8104 wdym the true ending? How do u get that?
"Zora's Domain we will do that tomorrow, have a good night everybody, bye bye!"
And that was the last that the video crowd ever got to see of Smallant's TotK playthrough.
Well at least his first play through
@@Gatorboy5678 yeah you are right, but I want to watch zora’s domain
Tulin is literally a shonen protagonist, saving the world with the power of friendship at the age of 10
His 'Power' is totally busted too.
Best utility ability by far, and his combat skills are also better since he can headshot and the others can't
He is also voiced by the same person who voiced killua in the english dub of HunterxHunter, so the shonen comment is not far off LOL
@@realcupojoe Yep, I mean I dunno how many people miss Revali lol but for sure won't be missing his Ability with a basically infinite replacement We got now. It literally turns Link into Superman!
@@netweed09 Just wish it could be aimed upwards
It's unreal how many shrines can be solved with Time Reverse. It may not be efficient or proper, but it makes me feel like I gamed the system.
Man I solved about 5 of the 30 shrines I've done with the time rewind just because I didn't know how to do the shrine the intended way. Such a fun ability
also long stick solves many things, can't wait to get the game myself lol
@@logangomes2922 sometimes that is the intended way.
It’s called “shenanigans”
RTgame forgot the power existed at all so i just watched him trying to solve the shrines in the most smartass way posibble
So... We just never gonna see the final part?
Fun Fact: If you completed the Champions Ballad DLC for BotW and hung the photo of the Champions in the Hateno House in your BotW save, it will also appear in this game. It won't appear unless you do these things.
Me having factory reset my switch😭
And not on master mode 😥 I 100% master mode and have nothing on normal since I wanted to try some speedruns
Just like how the horses carry over from the past game!
Me sad because the Hero’s Path Mode and Travel Medallions come with the game ☠️☠️😢
@@coltforceplayer hey, at least we know we're getting some crazy new stuff for dlc
I really love how big the space and possibilities are in this game. It really puts the “open” in open world.
Compared to TotK, BotW is closed-world
Add the seal to the master sword and you get the sword that TRULY seals the darkness
r/angryupvote
I feel like I am one of the only people that didn't use arrows to fight Colgera. When it starts shooting spikes from its back, I just dived through the weak point that got exposed.
^ EXACTLY THIS
I did that too and felt dumb when smant just shot it
Same
diving thru it felt sick as fuck
@@committaxfraud115 no idea is stupid if it works and all that but personally i think it’s kinda dumb to waste arrows and weapons when you can do the entire fight without using a single piece of gear except a paraglider 🤭 im on team “dive through the ice spots”
Fun Fact - Rock Octoroks repair weapons and give a random buff to items thrown on the ground but is limited to once per a rock octorok and is new to the game
Rock Octoroks could repair rusty weapons in the first game, too. It's just that EVERYTHING is rusty now.
That explains why those buffed weapons count as different entries in the hyrule compendium, there's a reliable way to get them to show up! Good info, thank you!
Once per rock octorock per blood moon cycle, so it's not entirely finite
@@misirtere9836 (first off, i like your pfp)
but like no? they don't restore the weapons to a purified state. also the weapons are decayed and not rusted.
it's a different function
@@misirtere9836 the random buff is new
For the gibdo assault I just used fallen tree and braces them against the outside walls, indestructible by gibdos and prevented any gibdos from even making it in the town at all
Funny thing about the lightning temple, I just never saw those ultrahand blocks next to the elevator, so to get to that battery i backtracked all the way to the start of the dungeon and used ascend to get into that room, thinking the grate was a door and it would open to let me out.
The facepalm when i realized was legendary
I've been looking for someone who did that exact same thing I thought I was a genius when I figured that out and then realised how easy it was to get into the room hahaha
Bro straight up went from the easiest dungeon in the game to the hardest right off the bat 💀💀💀 love you bro
Imo fire temple is hardest, and thats the one i did first cos i said fuc what the game is telling me
@@chargegarg8234 bro the game deadass gives you the order whenever you talk to Pura after you do one (Wind->Fire->Water->Electric) lmao
You can also see the difficulty scale with the Zonai tiers, Fire has tier 2s when Lightning is full of tier 3s
Lmao I literally ended up doing them in reverse order. I did spirit, thunder, water, fire, wind kekw.
@@nickchan4462 LMAO nice job
@@TDEnderPlayz I've done it Water- Lightning- Fire- (am going to do) Air
This Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts reboot is great! Love the revamped vehicle builder mechanics.
YUH-HUH!
I wish it was as versatile as N&B/BP steering stick should have given us assignable controls for devices.
okay okay, jokes aside this game has proven itself more then just a nuts n bolts clone. case in point: its actually fucking good
The difference is that TOTK is still a Zelda game on its core. Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is not even similar to Kazooie, Tooie or Grunty Revenge
@@NL-X TIL that Grunty's Revenge exists. I did not know there was a gameboy B&K title. it looks fun
I'm so sad for Smant that he didn't get to experience the sheer awsomeness of just diving straight through Colgera's weak points. Even when refighting the boss I always make sure not to shoot arrows because diving's just too cool (pun intended)
its amazing how link managed to do all the shrines and everything before being sapped of his powers at the start, but he didn't find a single korok
They're all new koroks bro
nah, im sure hestu got mugged while link was recovering
Hetsu literally says he got robbed again
@@thedeviantguy he needs to get a gun or a knife so he doesn't get robed
Im loving this series. I hope it continues until ant finishes the game.
He is considering to 100% this
I have a few issues, mainly the dungeons are super easy. All the ones ive done are easy asf.
Every zelda dungeon is easy - the reason why its a problem now is bc ur not a kid anymore
@@blu5021 All of them are easy tbh! If u want good challenge, try to beat the game using minimum bow & use it only when necessary. Game is actually too easy right now, we need ultra master mode for a good soulslike experience
@@priyanshumaurya007 yeah it’s annoying. You shouldn’t be able to rush the castle as soon as u get off the island
I missed Smallant uploading Zelda. I even rewatched all old ones before TOTK came out xD!
and we still wait for part 3
Using the scaffold for the Gerudo portion is the smartest thing I've ever seen someone do in this game
Tears of the Kingdom single handedly destroying the presumed lore that Skyward Sword Link and Zelda founded Hyrule
Then again, it could just be that Demise returned again and they rebuilt hyrule... again
Yeah like, didn’t they create hyrule? It may be that they created a village and the zonai created the kingdom.
We need a The Legend of Zelda: Timeline explained
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 yeah, if you think of it logically, they never stated they were setting up a Kingdom, just that they should name the land after the events of Skyward Sword. It would for sure take a good amount of time to get to a state where a political structure could even be implemented.
Though that begs the question...
If TotK's past takes place after Skyward Sword with the literal first King of Hyrule, then this Ganondorf predates OoT Ganondorf (and was sealed away while that one kept returning). If this is the first King of a rebuilt/reborn Hyrule then it's a new Ganondorf regardless, but one long after the other one.
My personal theory is that they are retconning the Downfall Timeline to not be based on an arbitrary Link death in OoT but instead this backstory, making it a completely separate branch where TotK's ancient past is the events that happened instead of OoT. This making the two Imprisoning Wars the same, and this Ganondorf the source of Calamity Ganon, which is also simply the Ganon from the Downfall Timeline games.
Basically, Skyward Sword splits to either OoT or TotK's ancient past. OoT leads to WW, TP, MM, etc while TotK's past leads to A Link to the Past, Oracles, the original Zelda, then eventually BotW and TotK itself.
Of course I could be wrong and this game simply serves as a soft reboot/makes all the old games only partially canon by making them literal legends.
The Zelda timeline literally never made any sense at all once you stop to think about it, Nintendo just acted like it did after some underpaid intern was probably tasked with making one for Hyrule Historia.
the fact that he kills easily a gleeok basically at the start of the game when i'm at the end fighting them while having trouble reminds me of how bad i actually am at this game
In fairness to your skill, I believe the game scales as your items / EXP does. Might be exceptions however
to make you feel worse and for no other reason, i feel the need to inform you that gleeoks do not scale with your level
It's okay, smallant has put many hours into both botw and totk, he has lots of experience and knows a lot more about the game than most people. (It took smallant 12ish minutes to defeat the gleok by the way)
The 100% speed runs of this are gonna be crazy 😂
The first good 100% run is going to use a million glitches we don't know about yet, come out a year from now and still take 50 hours.
Six years from now the record will be 19 hours and movement will consist entirely of some weird Ultrahand/Recall physics glitch that doesn't get discovered until 2027
a week speedrun
yeah, considering you have to get every bubbulfrog, every well, every korok, even lightroot, every piece of armour maxxed and fight 10x the amount of bosses as you did in botw. all without blss or btb
I’m so happy that at least someone else got stuck on the move the wall puzzle in the gerudo temple. I will say my light puzzle solution was a lot weirder though: I reflected it up from the basement, took weird angles, and manually used mirrors for all but the last one cause I died and so my mirrors de spawned.
I also completely missed the broken wall. Ended up backtracking to the entrance of the temple to use ascend to get into that room, and then saw the broken wall from the other side.
Huge respect for the effort Smant is putting in to get these up 🙌
Love this series! Hopefully there's a lot more parts to come!
I've binged all of your BOTW videos multiple times, and I love all the weird challenges you do! Can't wait to see what you come up with for TOTK
I already can't wait to see him 100% speedrun this game in 20 hours
Im super grateful for the quick uploads !! Enjoying watching the gameplay ((:
I just figured out in my play thru that the shrines on the ground (not the ones in the sky) are linked to the lightroots in the depths so that way they'rr really easy to find
These highlights have been perfect. I usually can't make it to a stream so thank you for posting these :D
6:44 this is actually one of the things I hated the most about Breath of the wild, that you couldn’t climb things when it rained was the most annoying feeling. Since this is fixed this will be such a life saver.
"Fixed" isnt the best word choice, it still exists, and even with the effect, its annoying but i like that its there
you still slip even with level 3, but it's much less frequent and only really affects longer climbs. also jumping up walls still causes you to slip as well
The extent of "fixed" is up for debate. In BotW, the timing was consistent for climbing in the rain: 3ish grunts then a jump that took about double the stamina compared to clear weather. TotK on the other hand still forces a slip after every jump, so sticky only helps with slow climbs. Then on top of the slow climbs being the only benefit, the timing is inconsistent even with the same level of sticky. If you call it wrong, you still risk losing progress, and if you call it too early you run out of stamina from slipping. Maybe it wont be so bad after i spend more time playing around with it and find a consistent timing, but from my limited experience, i would argue adding a solution made the problem worse as they had to balance the game around the existence of the solution.
The real problem is that clear sky rain still exists. When people complained about the rain, it was not the telegraphed rain that was the problem, but the unplanned "you will fall now" rain that would happen despite the forecast of sun or riskier overcast (clouds). The type of rain that exists just long enough to screw a player over for trying to climb at all, before disappearing as quickly as it showed up. That is what sticky fixes, but only if you juggle a balance of sticky insurance and climbing gear (including ravio's hood). Since climbing buffs only come from equipment (unless i am missing some new additions), id argue sticky food/elixirs are better than the inevitable armor set with the same effect.
@@cullenlatham2366 i am unsure whether or not to consider this a spoiler, i personally wouldnt, but the level 2 set bonus of the slip resistant armor is "slip proof" which does completely negate the rain effect, as well as ice climbing
@@coffeecrispy2673 fair enough. the sticky armor takes so much effort to obtain and upgrade that despite beating the final boss with a mere 9 shrines unaccounted for (or one of the following: 1 shrine, 2 unaccounted for heart containers, 5 shrines, 1 unaccounted for heart container), i only have the chest piece, so i wouldnt know. It is still debatable if "slip-proof" is worth giving up climbing gear unless climbing exactly ice, though, and that also comes from the unpredictability of clear sky rain.
Holy mother of god it's the best game ever. I limited my expectations so hard and now I'm just dumbfounded by the fact that I pretty much couldn't have overhyped it if I had tried
I bet whenever OG’s saw the Water Temple they shed a tear in Nostalgia and Fear, don’t worry though as you don’t need Iron Boots
thank you for not spoiling it with the thumbnail, ill save this and watch it later while i wait for my copy to arrive on tuesday :(
having watched it now, very cool
Watching so many play through a and I think I’m the only one who fought coldera the intended way. Fly above, he shoots ice off his back revealing those purple spots. Then you just dive through. Sooo cinematic
I just realized that in the wind temple ost you can hear a bit of good ol' Ravioli's theme as a motif! Honestly makes me love the game even more.
I love this game so much, definitely on my Top 3, it’s so good, expansive and took everything that I loved about BoTW and made it 66% better, because there’s 3 main maps: Depths, Surface and Sky
So what the hell happened to the rest of the series?
I just finished this part earlier today. Great game
Nice to see another TOTK vid from you so quickly! Would love to see more of these, but do don’t overwork yourself with the editing; I imagine it takes quite a bit of effort to get these out so fast.
He doesn't edit his own videos lol
@@MediumDSpeaks he actually does edit these TOTK ones himself, so he gets them out that quickly after the streams.
@Spieleckecker really? That's insane, how is he capable of that after a full day of streaming plus whatever business and personal stuff he has to do in the rest of the day! I feel like he'd definitely have an editor by this point, he's for sure making millions from youtube and twitch
@@MediumDSpeaks in the stream he said his editors are busy playing the game themselves, so for this release he edits himself after the stream. It's an insane amount of work, really appreciate it :)
@Spieleckecker damn that's insane. I wish I would make myself do something like that. I want to get back to making videos but I never actually do the work. It's just so difficult to edit
29:25 I swear we have the same mind, fusing the sand seal toy to a sword was the first thing I did upon arriving in Gerudo Town, after which I also fused the statue to one of my weapons

That wind boss fight looked so cool!
when i first played the wind temple, i missed with tulin's gust on the first one, so i just assumed that tulin's gust wasn't how you were supposed to activate them and i spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out alternate ways of getting wind through the receptors before i realized tulin's gust works i just missed the first time
I love how there is the regular way to do a shrine and then there’s the SmallAnt way
Hey SmallAnt, this is just a small request but would you consider putting a number on the thumbnails so it's more accessible to people who want to view these in order? At a quick glance I wasn't sure who the video was by or the context and could have missed it!
Or at least in the video title
To SmallAnt this request is normal sized

Are u gonna post the next videos of TOTK??
I keep trying to not watch these videos for spoilers I just got off the first sky island. Hope to watch these videos soon!
i have the same problem . i LOVE watching him play any game but at the same time i dont want to get spoilered .
41:45 I like how someone in chat said “ur a pro” exactly when he died
Hry smallant ! Thanks for the more frequent uploads
Man, my favotite way to do colgera is to just dive through the crystals. Ant didnt even get to the attacks that open it up from above to dive through.
When I saw hi with a seal hammer and a seal shield I realized, Smant plays TOTK better than any of us.
22:44 Don’t know if you noticed or this has happened to you on the surface but when it does the whole sky goes red and it’s absolutely TERRIFYING. You just hear the blood moon music or what ever it is and the sky goes red like the blood moon and it stays that way until you kill it or it looses you.
Smant: Eights A Lot Of Floors
Me: Have your Heard Of The Phantom Hourglass?
Ant being freaked out at the implication of Zelda's furry ancestry makes me chuckle.
Did he just not do Part 3?
Keeping hope he will 🤞🤞🤞
This eyeball quest took hours for me because i had to repeat one of the journeys 4 times because the eyeball kept despawing, in part because im an idiot. I can tell this is a good game because it still didnt feel like the massive waste of time that it was lol
I didn't rlly love the wind temple's puzzles but the asthetic and everything leading up to it is so cool!
Where’s the rest?
The character designs are so good. It was also really funny that he could hurt the boss with the mirror shield.
Loved watching Smant take on the lightning dungeon
Ants on the grind keep the totk vids coming
Does anyone know if the final part will be uploaded from this play through?
Were hoping
smallant: queen gidbo boss fight is long
what he did: shines light on him the whole time that does a lil bit of dmg
Please upload part 2 of you finishing the remaining dungeons ! 😍
22:30 "What was that sound?"
The sound of impending SUAVEMENTE
No Part 3? :(
Love the edit at the end where he’s done with Gerudo town then cuts to him in Lookout Landing with 7 more inexplicable deaths
I was waiting all day for this post
bro wheres the next ep?!
I just found the underground and it's amazing, a day and a half of having this game and it's already in my top 3 favorite games
I didn’t know you could shoot the Colgera’s underside, so the way I beat him was by waiting for him to shoot his icicles at you, which reveals his ice sheets and then I dove through them from above. So it was definitely not as easy, but was way cooler lol
The Flux construct he fought early in the video reminded me so much of the bowser fight in mario party ds
the boss keys episode on this is gonna be so good i just know mark brown will cook
new vid coming out for tears of the kingdom?
23:10 - I lighted up both this torch and the castle pair with flint and the secret trigger didn't work because of that.
I almost missed the shield (only found it thanks to a guide) and the tunic ones triggered on wandering out and back inside the castle building.
eating these videos up fantastic
the glitchless speedrun seems like it’s going to be such a fun route
just beat totk. the temples were definitely an improvement from botw but still hold up very short compared to all the other predecessors. The game makes up for that with the pre-temple shenanigans, those were some of my favorite moments of all zelda games.
Just 10 more years for the perfect Zelda game
Idk I don't really care if the temples stand out when the whole map is the temple now
"Are we gonna have like an army chasing us by the end of this?"
Yes.
13:43 I cheesed this a bit my first play through and used gust through the gate to the left
15:40 Smallant actually just called that boss a Steelix when it's clearly a Gliscor.
With colgera the intended way was to stay above it, wait for it to attack then dive through the ice, but your way works to
I did it his way too 👀 like last night lol
i think the boost that the kid gives you in the air, samples part of datrix's cry from pokemon
Can’t wait to watch this when I get home

What a perfect time for a smant vid. I was litteraly just searching for a tears of the kingdom video after seing your first one :)
I somehow got onto the wind temple before getting to the cave with Tulin. Spent half an hour confused running around it
I know everyone and their mother is streaming this atm, but man do I appreciate your edits, it's so dynamic and fluid
Is... is there no part three?
I’ve been playing since release and haven’t done almost any of the things he did in the first half lol. I spent like 5 hours in the depths just finding brightroots, killing monsters and then I found the mining pants and left to spend another 20 on the surface not doing the main story
I did the same exact thing in the lightning puzzle with being so confused what the last one was, just for it to be the easiest one xD
Love how he thought the 1 hp enemy was a miniboss
