Imagine being a Sheikah monk and seeing the hero of the wild complete your challenge normally, then go into the bonus challenge in the back, do it completely wrong for hours, and then blow himself up

Lmao I love how on the second attempt, because ant used the balloons instantly and didn’t even think about it, you can tell that after he failed the first run he prob spent hours trying to figure out how to do it and he came up with that strat
Best part is that he didn't come up with that strat, in fact the person who did was chastised by him for suggesting that during his first playthrough.
Fun fact: In this shrine they forgot to place a piece of floor somewhere, and with some maneuvering you can actually fall through it into a never-ending abyss. You can see it under the water at 1:51
In my playthrough I saw the hole and thought it was a secret so I fell through and had to reset Lmao

I just watched this without reading what the challenge was, so when I saw that he died from the bomb arrow I thought 'oh that sucks, the ball would've been reset'. Then the camera panned down to permadeath and my reaction instantly changed.

That dude was unnaturally calm when he bombed his run. He definitely killed something off camera.
He wasn't calm. He was just dead inside.
My first thought was suicide when that happened. But all in all, I would have just given up on the run for good.

honestly the fact that they knew the optional part was incredibly hard and thus put an amazing reward behind it made me happy when I first completed this shrine.
Also, Ant's reaction was perfect.
Is it even worth it? I already have 2 giant ancient cores and I don't know whether I'd even need a third

@@seadragonyt5391ou can sell it, or use it for Robbie's Ancient stuff, which requires ancient parts alongside a fee. It does cost an arm and a leg until relatively late game, but it serves as a consistent source of powerful weapons if you have the rupees and ancient parts for it.
@@geodescent Giant Ancient Cores are INSANELY hard to find in the game. You need one to make the Ancient Bow at the Akkala Ancient Tech lab and even me with how much I play the game, I only have like 10 of them.
You need every single Giant Core you can find. Guardians have a chance to drop regular Cores, but not Giant ones.

@@Hpmanenz I think he might have been thinking seeing as weapons do double when they break, that they count as two hits on a stasised object or he just can't count.
My reasoning here is he only seemed to make the counting error when the weapons broke so who knows.
The second part of this shrine made me SO MAD. 6 hits was too many but 5 wasn’t enough even when I was PERFECT in my aim. I almost yeeted myself into space
The trick to this shrine is knowing that a two-handed weapon imparts twice as much kinetic energy as a one-handed weapon. The second puzzle requires 5 hits with a two-handed weapon combined with one hit with a one-handed weapon, OR 11 hits with a one-handed weapon.
For everyone saying cryonis under the ball: Cryonis happens on the surface of the water so it wouldn't pick up the ball. The reason why it works in other places and not here is because the game devs purposefully made the ball sink in water in this shrine.
He can't use the hammer and refuses to use his weapons because his rules for this run is no repeat tools

This has to be the perfect example of over complicating a problem with an easy solution.
No its the math lesson last week. The question was on which day you cross the sea the best at 14:50. When the sea level is the lowest with 0.60m on 11:37 or when the sea level is the lowest on the other day with -0.20m on 14:07 and we were supposed to find that out through a×sin(x+x0)+d and you have to get x0 through p and and 2 Phi, this, that and that. What might the solution be, mmmmmmmmmh...

The second part is actually so god awful that his solution is of comparable length. Most have to restart their game since multiple failures will have all your weapons destroyed.

For those wondering, the intended solution is to hit the first ball 5 times with the hammer, and then the 2nd ball 5 times with the hammer and once with a 1 handed weapon.
That sounds stupid. Imma do it since it's my first time playing and I can't actually say shit though lol
@@Person7503 hitting the ball 5 times is not stupid, it should take like 5 minutes to figure it out if you use the weapon you're given.
the other one you just do by experimenting and its meant to be an optional reward. i just use a one handed weapon for all hits

I figured out the power needed okay, but spent sooo long because I could never get the accuracy right. Watching this guy's perfect aim every single time is melting my brain.

I thought he only died once during this challenge, so this came as a shock to me.
Didn't even know this was part of the Nuzlocke until I saw it in the Nuzlocke playlist.
I wondered why it said 3 videos when there were only 2 parts. This is why.
I passed this shrine first try on a complete fluke And I never realized how hellish it actually is lmfao
It's not hellish. You just golf it both times. It's extremely simple actually just takes a little bit of patience lol.
Me too took me 5 minutes
It actually only takes some trial and error golfing. The bonus section to get the chest is a little harder, but it boils down to "if hitting ball x times with sledgehammer is not far enough, but x + 1 times with sledgehammer is too much, what can I do to get the middle ground?"
I'm literally confused on how hated this shrine is. I saw a lot of unpleasant reactions on this shrine from both comments and videos, then when I did it my own, 90% of the time I was savescumming to modify the Iron Sledgehammer for the Stone Taluses' exterminator. And for the optional challenge for the giant ancient core, It didn't even take me more than 5 tries using the same sledgehammer.

I hated this shrine with all myself, and after a tedious amount of tries I've managed to complete the way they intended to do it, omg it's a totally new form of masochism
There's the major test of strength.
But then there's the major test of luck.
It's 5 hammer hits and a sword hit, with the right angle
and then theres the major test of biffing it all.

No, the last hit is considered as double the DAMAGE and in stasis the damage doesn't matter its how many hits which counts (if its the same kind of weapon, e.g two handed )
to clarify more, when you stasis a ball the savage lynel crusher acts the same as a woodcutter's axe when you hit it.

After all of the trial and error at this shrine I found that 4 hits with a large 2 handed weapon (Iron Sledgehammer) followed by a single hit from a one handed sword usually does the trick.

I literally had to glitch myself between the bars to get high enough to jump over the barrier. I put a octopus balloon thing on the ball and shot arrows at it to make it move out of the barrier into the water. Once I glitched myself on top of the metal bar, I used the ice thing to pick it up and throw it all the way to the whole. I had no clue you could hit the object while it was frozen to make it launch until I was almost done with the game. I thought it was just for freezing stuff lol.
Don't they literally force you to move an object with stasis in the tutorial for stasis though?

in a casual playthrough, if playing in handheld, the one that requires gyro is the worst one. Nothing says "good design" like having to tilt the fucking screen away from you.
I just lay down on my bed. But yeah, even then it was a bit of a pain, lmao. Rolling around, looking stupid, praying no one walks in on me, all to solve one shrine challenge.
Lmao I just turned the controller over so that the platform would be upside down and made the ball roll directly in the right direction first try since it’s perfectly smooth underneath
That one shrine in champions ballad during Daruks Ballade! I always need an hour to complete it! Screw that damn 'tilt-that-thing-to-finish-the-shrine' puzzle at the end of it!
Edit: I play BotW on the WiiU because I don't have a Switch. That doesn't make the puzzle easier!
That was clearly designed with the Wii U in mind
If you were playing on the normal switch you could just disconnect the joy cons and use them remotely. Way easier. Pair that with flipping the thing upside down and you got it down in like a minute.
I spent many hours trying to accomplish the shrine’s second part. I screamed. After these hours, I watched a tutorial with which I accomplished it.
i'm dying this is the funniest and most ridiculous way to do this. the way you threw away the hammers that would've solved this puzzle in like 5 minutes. you made your life so hard for yourself for no reason 😭😭😭 very unique technique
if you look at the challenge run conditions on the bottom, he wasn't allowed to use a weapon more than once.

I literally spent 5 hours on this exact shrine yesterday! Going back for the extra chest...
*First attempt:* One hour 5 minutes 30 second attempt of the intended strat.
*One week later:* 4 minutes 52 second successful defeat of Ball Blight using a unique big brain strat.
A 92% reduction in time. _THAT_ is how a pro speed runner improves their game. Good job, SmallAnt. Mad respect.

Also the second and third smartest all count to the collective intelligence of chat so even the smartest person in chat will usually not be smarter than all 4000 people in chat.
Anyone could come up with the solution to a problem. That doesn't make them "smart" or anyone else "dumb." There's no real single definition of "smart" that applies to this situation at all, so I'd say "being smarter than anyone else in chat" is a completely meaningless concept.

It is only in this context that smart has a very clear meaning.
I'd even go as far as to say that restricting it to a specific situation like "problem solving" is the only place where the use of smart as a comparator has any meaning at all.
This is just semantics anyway.
on one hand this dude commitment is commendable and way over where i would have pushed myself, on the other hand i was let down by the octobaloon strat, once the chat clipped the "pick up" line the mutual agreement between streamer and viewer was imposing him to actually keep trying to defeat ballblight with that strat

I have never beatwn this shrine normally. Its so frustrating and terrible that i genuinely found it easier to learn how to wall clip and finish it like that
Worst one is the ones where they make you rotate the switch to move balls through a maze. Frustrating

Me and my sis struggled so much with this shrine. We really did break most of our weapons on it the first time around and didn't even complete it. Second time around, we had to reload at leat 6 times. Trident/spear worked pretty well on it, but it's still HARD.
This shrine at least taught me how to use windbombs since I thought I could cheese it by fishing it out behind the gate

i unintentionally moved my switch for a second and somehow launched the ball, i felt so bad for completing the shrine unfairly.
I also just today got the hint in the loading screen that you can use octorok balloons like this, but didn't know they work that well and just magically attach to things X) Haven't tried them yet myself
This is nice to see because I spent over an hour on this shrine yesterday.
