Nice progress. I was surprised to see so many parts done. Hope you have a nice winter holiday break and that the house project comes off perfect!

Thanks Kevin, I'll be glad to be done here and back to regularly sleeping in my own bed :-)

Great work and beautiful ribs. I'm sure you have seen some folks use clear packing tape on parts you don't want epoxy to stick to! Very nice work indeed!

It looks like you're making good progress. I'm using the West System epoxy on my Fairchild 24 restoration. It appears to be lower viscosity than the glue you're using. One thing I have to be careful of is when applying glue to end grain. The end grain absorbs the epoxy in one application, so I have to be sure to apply a second coat. I'm wondering if you have seen a similar problem on end grain. The wedge part at the trailing edge of your rib is the type of end grain part that I'm careful of.

I've not noticed a difference but I will check those pieces and do a test piece of end grain when I'm home. Ta for the heads up :-)

Hi Matt, Where are you physically located? I'm in Hamilton restoring a '46 Nord Stampe. Could you let me know what engine you are intending to use? Cable or streamline wire flying wires? /Cheers, Russ Ward

Hi Russ, top of the south, but I get around. No fixed decision on engine yet. Due to space constraints I was going to start with building a 1/3 scale 160hp Gnome to build up skills and had a lathe purchase lined up out of China, but found trees. Spruce being harder to come by, I pivoted. CAMS do a nice 100hp Gnome. I'm pretty sure I have you on my list of locals to contact later, specifically for flying wires and seeing if you can roll the threads on strainers. I'm a way off needing those though and haven't yet made contact as it seemed a bit premature at this point. I have your three vids bookmarked under your oldschoolaero account :-)
