My husband just bought a motorcycle and while he was working a I was researching videos that could help him. Thank you he loved your videos, he said he learned a lot. The best.
Your a good wife! Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my RUclips channel!👍🏾😊 I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile!
Robert, this is much more beneficial than the MSF class I paid for. Your thorough explanations make it easy to understand what the MSF instructors tried to cram into 2 days. Thank you. ✌️
On point brother, it was in the MSF class that I picked up the habit of grabbing the front brake in slow speed turning, wow, I’m amazed looking back that I passed the class!
I'm in Brazil and I started to follow your channel. Although I don't speak English very well, I try to understand the exercises you perform with your motorcycle.
Thanks for the props! Watched all of the Ride like a pro videos, and Jerry is a great instructor. Really enjoying your way of teaching and a lot of the things you are teaching have made the techniques make more since to me. Thanks so much for what you are doing!
I'm in ohio and I've seen all three of your practice sessions they are amazing, the weather is almost perfect there, I can see now that I'm living in the wrong area...
Your instructions are very easy to understand. Thank you for that. Best slow riding practice videos I have seen. I'm 68 years old and still learning. Been riding since I was 10. I still have an awful lot to learn.
Glad to see you working the guys through 90 deg pull throughs and pull outs. It amazes me how experienced riders struggle on that exercise. I believe that exercise alone - if you were only allowed to pick one - is the best one to help your street riding abilities.
Really you’re such a GREAT trainer... Others are publishing just a few min. of their sessions to push trainees to pay or buy. But you’re totally different. Giving from your heart. Am following your directions and tips and practicing every day. By the way... I’m living over seas in the Middle East... JORDAN 🇯🇴 Please keep going with the best of luck.
This was exciting for me to watch. I didn’t realize there were motorcycles without a clutch! Now I know for sure everything you are teaching can be done on my little 170cc scooter! I’m completely new at riding and I’m practicing session one and two. When I first went out on my brand new scooter I was told to keep my hand OFF the brake and learn how to control the throttle. Well. That was a complete catastrophe! I couldn’t even ride straight without lurching about. I felt like I was never going to be able to ride and even thought I’d have to sell the scooter. I tried preload and it was heaven to me! Thanks so much. I have a longgggg way to go but with your videos I’m encouraged.
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile!
Really enjoying your videos. Definitely not a waste of time. Your viewers are getting a real education from a professional. Thanks again. Time for a Patron page. Your time and efforts is worth some donations .
Greetings Robert from the Philippines! I'm going back over all of your videos. Watching this video again allows me to listen to your instructions with information and practices I've learned from you over these past two years. As a graduate of the online MSF course and the HD Riding Academy I feel so "at home" following your instructions during my practice sessions here. Thanks. Keep on keep on ✊
Mr. Simmons, I sincerely appreciate these videos and your teaching style which is personal and thorough. These are absolutely THE BEST motorcycle skills videos. So, if you ever decide to take this show on-the-road, I would actually pay to take a class and spend the day having access to your knowledge. Again, thank you. Glad you are now here in the Southeast!! Be blessed.
I recently purchased my first bike, 2016 street glide. I appreciate your channel and the content you are putting out. This is exactly what I need to build up my confidence. Today I had my first practice session in the parking lot and while there's room for improvement I felt better after I finished. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Congratulations on the new motorcycle and more importantly, on your first practice session!! You’ve taken the first step toward being the Boss of your motorcycle!!👍🏾😁 It’s my pleasure. 😊
Thanks Coach and to anyone who help make these videos. And yes!! I do practice here in Colorado even when it's cold and snowing. Lol. A shirt idea for you!! Preload! Preload! Preload!
For this type training it would cost you $200-$300 from a skilled Instructor but its FREE !! Anyone who's a motorcyclist in the GA area should be riding to take this course !!
@@chrisnavarro2362 I am in Pooler, GA. If you would like to be added to the email notification list of future practice sessions, send me an email stating, "Please add me to the list." The extended bags won't be an issue because even if you can't lean the motorcycle as much, the other slow speed skills that don't require leaning the motorcycle much at all still need to be mastered.👍🏾
I have been watching you from firts practice i just bought ultra glide clutch ,throttle rear break techniquie is working ,watching you from South Africa❤❤thank you so much

The closest Ride Like a Pro class to me is 5 hours one way and have done it 3 times! So I guess I am dedicated to learn this skill! :) Keep up the excellent work Robert!!
i must say i watch all your videos your details of clutch and throttle and a little back break is the best. i don't have a bike yet but my plans is getting a m109r as my first bike and following your teaching i believe that bike won't be a problem. Thank you so much for teaching and may GOD BLESS YOU..
Definitely applying all the techniques while out on the road. Practice, practice, practice. Thanks LT, another great video. I think you need to come on back to Florida.

I sent a link of your account to black dragon. I’m probably not the first to suggest it, but I think a good many of us are dying to hear about your experience as a bike cop in NYC. Fire content
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle sorry, just saw this... Black Dragon (John Bunch II) is the former national president of the Black Sabbath MC and host of a popular biker news/mc protocol channel here on the tube. i am certain you two would eventually cross paths being as one of your group (WoodJr) has already bumped into members of FHO (dragons tight with them), and all of you are in the Atlanta area. good luck, and I look forward to learning of your time in NYC
Hi Robert, I enjoy watching your video series. I own 3 Harleys. A Road Glide Ultra and two Fat Boys. I have a natural fear of leaning, but getting better at every practice. I have gotten down to a 19-foot radius on my new Fat Boy, but have only gotten down to 24-foot radius on my Road Glide. I wish I lived closer to your Georgia location because I would attend your class in a flash. I like your step-by-step method of indoctrination and desensitization to slow speed riding. I am sending you a video of me riding my Road Glide and making 24 foot circles. It is rare that I can get down to 24 feet, but when I do, I feel proud of myself. But, I want to get down to 18-feet with my Road Glide, like you and others in your class. Because I still have that fear, I rate my slow speed riding at a 5 or less.
Hello Robert, I’m 50yrs old, just brought a bike and I haven’t rode since 2006 since my msf course. It’s intimidating my problem is I’m jerking my bike. Taking off to fast. When riding starting off slow, speeding fast and vice versa. My bike is a 2005 Kawasaki 1500cc. Im definitely listening to your exercises.
Man I blip the throttle. I have to try holding it steady. And get better at using the back brake. I hardly ever use it. LOL. Gotta practice. Riding 50 years. Always wanted learn. Now I need practice. Thanks for the help 🙂 what free . Really!! Your kidding right ?
Hey what's up. Yeah that back brake is key. But I like hearing that you you're going to practice. And yes, it's free! I'm not conducting a class (I know it looks like that.) A class cost money. Practice is free. I'm just going out to practice and who ever comes out can practice as well. If someone needs some help, I'm happy to give it.Think about it like this... If I was going out to practice my free throw shots at the park and some people showed up to practice as well and wanted some help from me, I wouldn't charge them for that... Same concept.😊
This was a great session Robert and company. I also noticed Wood Jr. Had no pillows this time out. That is a step in the right direction Mr. Wood ! 😆 Keep up the good work. Really looking forward to getting a practice group together here. I usually wind up practicing alone. I'm amazed at how many motorcyclists don't understand the importance of skill improvement in general or slow speed skill improvement in particular. Thank you for doing this Robert. I'm just glad to see people be honest with themselves about how well they actually handle their machines and how much better they can handle them with some quality instruction and practice, practice, practice !!!!!
I’ve been walking around the house preloading, clutch in on the tight turns and off coming out. Just can’t practice using the back brake. Awesome information Robert, I’m already getting excited for the spring. 👍
Randy, when I read your post it reminded me of the Blue Angels practice sessions before the fly, they are actually sitting around a table with their eyes closed visualizing what they will be doing in flying formations. I did the same thing you did & is was awesome! Thank you
I ran across your channel the beginning of winter (florida winter aka spring) and I gotta say listening and following along i took out my victory magnum and said its time... I cam from riding sportbikes and moved over to this big boy and theres a HUGE difference in riding a cruiser to a sport/sport touring motorcycle especially when it comes to turning. I practiced exactly what you were doing with the guys for about 3 hours... when i started i was a level 1.5, now i feel like a good level 5.25 and improving. I recommended it to my buddy who i ride with who shortly after we went on a ride and i saw that duck walk when we got to the slower section and was killing that front brake....we pulled off in a parking lot and i started schooling him on preloading and using that rear brake .I had him watch me and mimic me and i must say his slow riding looked alot better today. Picture's coming soon, ill shoot them over to your email. Ill try to get some video as well so you can help correct anything you see that we may not be doing just right. I appreciate you for what you are teaching. Just as Mike said below, this is more informational than the MSF classes that I went to. One thing I would like you to touch on is tar snakes and uneven pavement, the huge ones that change your direction and make you get squirrely at some point if you havent already. Recovering from those can be instrumental, especially on the highway when ur running 60+ and encounter that immediate shift.
Hey Oz. I have to say I loved reading this! Yes of course because it’s complimentary towards me, but mostly because it’s a prime example of the “each one teach one” that I always emphasize and encourage! Good for you!! A Preloader at his FINEST!!!👍🏾👍🏾 And a 1.5 to a 5.25 is just outstanding!!!👍🏾👍🏾😊😊
Im wondering if whats hurting you is your bars being to far forward , because you seem to lean forward more it looks like to compensate. Try gettinf your bars tolted back a little more like the other guys.
Thank you very much! Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my RUclips channel!👍🏾😊 ruclips.net/user/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! I’ll be here!👍🏾
Thanks for Every video, I've been subscribed for a year, practice Every time I ride, so far push ups 3 times, I have a 15 street glide and I've been riding motorcycles for 50 years, both street and dirt, 1to 10, probably 2 1/2, Gary Richards, Ohio. Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
*Very glad to see a DCT Wing out there!* DCT drivers are at a distinct disadvantage here _( because they have less tools in their toolbox ),_ and no one teaches the specifics for low speed maneuvering on DCT bikes.
I hear you. If they already know the techniques with a clutch, they just need to practice using just the throttle and rear brake. It's definitely a different feeling, but with practice, it will work out.
Just finished my MSF class ...witch cost some money but I did learn a lot from it ! with that being said .... I have been watching your videos .. the riding skills videos The info is great !!! and being able to see mistakes and why there mistakes with the pointers on how to do it better...ITS JUST GREAT INFO ! Thank You for what you do ! As a new rider with an old 79 Honda CB650 I need as much help to keep myself safe and the others around me ! THANKS AGAIN !
Good video. Hope to view more in the future. On turning your head a technique I learned was to think "Put your chin over your shoulder". Once you do this your shoulders are turned and the turns get easier.
These guys are lucky to have these practices... 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾I jus but my first few miles on my bike in my neighborhood but ima find a parking lot and do these... new rider I have 8 miles on my RG now 😂
Hey Tom! That’s fine. We all have to start somewhere. If it makes you feel any better, there are people that having been riding for years that if you looked at them during slow riding, you would think they only had 8 miles in their motorcycle. And that’s what this is all about. So don’t worry, we’ll get you promoted to the boss!
Thanks from Canada for this other great video! I can't wait to take my bike out for practicing, practicing, practicing.... And pre-loading! A special thank to Anita for the wireless microphone! That makes these videos wayyyyy more enjoyable! Take care down there!
Once again very informative. I've also seen all of your practice sessions and I will send you video of me attempting the slow speed maneuvers. I say to myself PRE-LOAD continually and you know what ? it works my friend!!
Hi Robert, Great video and very helpful. I will email a photo soon. For now I just wanted to say how helpful the information is and send a G'day from Australia.
I live in San Diego, Ca. I just got a Harley Davidson 48 Sportster! If you were closer to me I'd love to attend your weekend class!! I have no doubt that after a day with you I'd be a solid 4 from a zero!
Congratulations on your new motorcycle! Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my RUclips channel!👍🏾😊 ruclips.net/user/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
Oh man..... you that a great guy! I love to watch your videos and i promise to practice, practice, practice............. It gives me a way different look on my heavy goldwing...... Thanks so much! I will raise up my skill level in the next month, as soon we havebetter weather here in Germany. It should be better than 1...... If i would have the chance, i would be the first on that parking place to take your course, believe me!
Robert, you have showed me so much in just one night watching mostly all of your sessions 😄 I’m in california, road with the wife today 107 miles l.a to Simi Valley mountains then seeing the pacific coast beaches then back to la city stressful traffics and splitting lanes whenever I can turning on tight turns around vehicles AND using that preload applying your slow techniques remembering most of your exercises 1-8 those have put more confidence in my riding so I just wanna say Thank you man I really appreciate you for sharing your skills making everything made sense I bet it’s even more fun to practice with you. Now I’m not just riding to ride my normal ways, now I’m all about preload! My other bible is your channel. Thank you 🙏
Hey Joe. Man that's awesome! Who said binge watching RUclips videos was a bad thing?😂 If you don't know this about me, words mean everything to me, so none of your words in the message you sent me are taken for granted. I don't think I've received a compliment of that level! I appreciate it and I'm very happy that I was able to help. I have to say I was envisioning the sights of what you were seeing during your motorcycle ride. It sounds very nice!👍🏾
Rode my wing from Boston to Pooler in one shot in 2018.. nice vedio.. my 08 wings are tough to control on 1st gear.. I do slow speed maneuver practice on 2nd, but its either too fast or I'm afraid it's not enough torque.. I practice when weather permits. I agree that the right turn is more challenging also..
I met Roy in Augusta, GA at Waffle House this morning.I complimented him on his bike and asked where he was headed. He said Oklahoma City. Wished him safe travels.
Another informative video👍👍 Im like the guy with the goldwing as i have a dct as well. Its a completely new learning curve as it all seems odd.but after watching you i feel more inspired. 😁 From the tri-state area.. thank you again..like always.. be good,be safe and cover the six brother.
Hey buddy! Thanks! Yeah it definitely will take some getting use to, but if I had it for about a week, I would be leaning that baby nicely. It has a great lean angle. I've always liked Goldwings. Be well.
The first and only time I got a little nervous was on my new 2001 ultra classic and I went into a death wobble. I locked my arms tight and very slowly dropped my speed down and it stopped. I guess I must have done it ok, I’m still here. I now have have a 2015 street glide special which I Purchased New I have been very very happy with it. I feel that I am one with that bike. Years ago I took Jerry’s class and I’m glad I did. Thank you for your class. By the way my older brother was on the job In the 60 Precinct Coney island and Manhattan Beach.
That damn wobble! You handled that correctly Cliff. Good luck with that Street Glide! I hope you're showing it who's the Boss!😊Thank your brother for his service for me please.👍🏾
I will tell my brother Al you said hi. By the way I had a large stroke when I was 44yrs. Old and it took me 5yrs to ride again. I started with a Bicycle to get my balance back and I rode the bike till I was really sure I could do it. From when I had the stroke. I got a used 94 fxr Harley and I traded that in for a new ultra which I had for my favorite bike which Is a street glide special. It’s a 2015 and I have everything on that bike so I one with that bike. I feel I’m about 90% back to the way I rode before my stroke. About 6 months a go a young biker came up to me at a light and said I was watching you and I was very impressed at your riding for an old guy. I’m 70 years old now. I live in Port Saint Lucie Fl and I would like to take your class with you. About 5-7 years ago my buddy and I road up from Port Saint Lucie Fl to Hicksville Long Island non stop. That’s last time I’ll go that far non stop.
@@cliffordperanio9929 wow good for you Clff! That’s amazing and I’m very happy to hear that you’ve recovered and riding again. I would love for you to come up here and practice with me.
I subscribed last week. I like the content , maybe I'll head up from louisiana when I get my touring bike... I have a 05 fatboy but looking to upgrade soon.
Another great informative video I really look forward to getting out and practicing some of these techniques but will have to wait until next year's riding season with living in south western PA not the ideal time to be trying to ride, one last thing Roy and I have the same bike which I thought was pretty cool.
Excellent video Sir!!!! Thank you for what you do!!! The wife and I get to the parking lot by our house here in NorthTexas every chance we get. You’re giving us more cone drills to add to our practice. Thanks very much!!!!
I like your attitude and the pace of your course. You gave the riders enough time to practice and grow. I have years of bad riding to unlearn. You are helping me. Thanks.
Your Comment about Left Turns Being easier, Here is our Theory. Every week when we train a new batch of students to ride as beginners. I write on my hand a prediction and put my glove on before we begin training. Then I reveal my prediction after the exercise, asking, "which direction was harder to turn". So we immediately have a new conversation why this is! Here is our conclusion. Both Breaks and the throttle are on the Right. This makes a decision to giving up your breaks to put a foot down or hand down and relinquishing control, this mentally influences your confidence and increases the feeling of vulnerability making right hand turns. Although this "is" usually the case, we still see about 10% of new riders to have no preference and it doesn't seem to matter if the rider is Left or Right Handed.
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 Thanks for that. There are several theories out there. Who the hell knows. 😆 I changed my bars and now my right turns are better than my left and I never thought I would say that.
If i remember correctly you wanted to go 12 or 13 inch to give you clearance with your knees and bars... I had 12 on my softail fatboy but i am not that big (5'7" 135lbs) so they were at the limits of my comfort level. I have 12 on my street glide also but i don't have to fight the wind, better but my hands are at shoulder level, a tad high. pushup level is the best position.
Ooooo brother the love for riding has gone up a few Levels! Man wish you We're up North near Colorado😅 I guess I will have to put my own cones up in the school parking lot🤣 But seriously Been riding since I was 12 years old And always felt like I was missing a few skills Thanks to you have learned more than just a few but have also gave me more confidence and love towards riding!!! Great personality, attitude And glad I found your channel tyty😁 oh yeah and preload baby preload and keep loaded😁🤙
Awesome content! I am so glad i found your channel. Just a suggestion and i understand if it would be a hazard..... you should try a cam on your helmet with a mic when your going thru the course, it would be great to see and hear exactly what your seeing.
Hey Izzy! Thanks for watching and hopefully subscribing! I won't rule it out. However, in my opinion, I think it looks cool, but isn't really effective for learning. I find walking the course with the camera to be more effective. Especially because you should always walk the course prior to riding it anyway.
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle i agree your method is very effective! i did subscribe and sent an email as well. I am 2.5 hrs away and would enjoy meeting you on you course soon!

Excellent video Robert. It wasn't until watching your videos that I realized I wasn't preloading enough in my turns. Now I constantly tell myself to "Be The Boss" of my motorcycle 👍😎. By the way, the music at the end reminds me of Escape from New York....it's pretty cool.
Hey Mike. Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful! What are you riding my friend and are you the Boss of it?😊 If not, it’s just a matter of time before you get promoted. 😊👍🏾
Curiosity question.... covering your brake. I looked in the comments to see if anyone asked. So when you say, "cover the rear brake," are you wanting us to apply pressure to the brake? In slow speed situations, (traffic, green light timing, etc) I usually have my heel on the floorboard and the toes of my boot hovering over the brake, ready to apply pressure. Is what I am doing correct with what you are saying? Thanks for all you do.
Good question. Yes it has been asked before. Covering the rear brake simply means resting your foot on it. You’re not necessarily applying pressure unless you need to. The reason you cover it is because we don’t want to do anything herky-jerky so if you need it right away, you won’t be abruptly trying to get your foot to it and maybe applying to much pressure. Your foot should be on it and ready to use it when you need it. Unless your rear brake is super sensitive, you should be able to rest your foot on the pedal without the brake being applied. No need to hover. 👍🏾
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle thx for clarifying. I think I rode too much rear brake today. So little taps to control speed seems to be the deal don't just ride it.
Awesome content! Big props to all, especially the Honda rider. Hopefully I can practice with you one day. One, question, do you teach emergency stopping?
Thank you very much! Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile!
Another great video Rob! My family already thinks I’m not so walking around inside saying pre load won’t be a big deal lol. Question. On the hard left turn from a stop, how wide is the tuning lane? The drill where you had them turning left from 3 diff positions. And that is a massive parking lot you found !! Perfect !
Where are you located? Where are these practices? Are you still doing them? I love your videos and instruction! Outstanding work! I’m in TEXAS! How far away are you? Sincerely Russell Best
FYI!!! Your instruction is by far THE BEST of any I have watched! You teach as it should be taught! See it! Smell it! Taste it! Breathe it! Like a coloring book! It all becomes real and ingrained into your heart! Truly Thank You Russ

Absolutely love your videos. Please let me know if you are ever in VA. Question: During the MSF Course, I was taught ATGATT: All The Gear, All The Time. Do you have any suggestions regarding what someone should wear when operating (or in my case, "trying to") a motorcycle?

So, if you ever decide to take this show on-the-road, I would actually pay to take a class and spend the day having access to your knowledge. Again, thank you. Glad you are now here in the Southeast!! Be blessed.

Hey Shaneo. You’re welcome! 😊 It’s just me. And it’s funny you should mention that because I was just talking to my wife about that last week. 😊
For this type training it would cost you $200-$300 from a skilled Instructor but its FREE !! Anyone who's a motorcyclist in the GA area should be riding to take this course !!
Hey Pat! You’re not wrong.... That’s all. 😆

Hi Robert,
I enjoy watching your video series.

Thanks Donald! Well said my friend.

@@masterkilla77 Correct. Use it as needed. Sometimes you will ride it, but do so lightly.

@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle street glide special it keeps your hands below fairing height which is great for bad weather riding
Ok that's what I want. I don't want my hands above the fairing. Here's the main question.... Did they have to relocate your mirrors?
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle some look under the hands and keep stock mirrors but I relocated mine to the top, also you don't have to get longer cables with thos bars even though Harley says you do.
To turn their heads all the way when making tight u-turns without a doubt they need to become one with their bike.
I mean that’s how I feel.
I agree.
Great job out there
Thank you very much!
I'm watching all these videos, and I am wondering, where are the Goldwings? Lol
Hey Tim. Did you watch this video? There’s a Goldwing in it.
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Lol, yes, I did finally see one.
@@bubblehead7680 definitely a different experience. After about a week, I think I would be good on it.
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle i have a 2008 so I wouldn't have to deal with DCT. Some of these techniques I actually work on while riding around the city. Looking forward to doing actual practice. I hate doing it with all my winter stuff on so when it warms up I'll work on it.
@@bubblehead7680 I hear you brother. I don't like having on a lot of clothes either. Feels restrictive. I am very happy to hear that you are looking forward to practicing though!😊👍🏾
Mirrors
New harley come with the short arm mirrors
I always get the long mirrors
What do you like short ones or long ones
I think because in calif we can split lanes a lot of guys want the clearance between car mirrors and their mirrors
I just feel visibility is more important than looks
I agree. I try to find the middle ground.
