  • Hello RUclipsrs! A special hello to my fellow PRELOADERS! For those of you that aren't PRELOADERS yet, hit that subscribe button and become one. This video covers Practice session #13 which included the largest amount of riders to attend one of my practice sessions! I want to apologize for the wait. I had some serious editing issues and with a video this long, everything takes much longer. As frustrating as this process was, I wasn't going to stop until I got it out to my PRELOADERS. So I hope you enjoy it and most importantly, I hope you get something from it that will help you in your quest to be the Boss of your motorcycle!😊👍🏾
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
    PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
    What does PRELOAD mean?
    PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

    Practice Sessions
Practice sessions are held on a weekly basis (Saturday or Sunday) in Pooler, GA. These sessions are free of charge to subscribers (Preloaders) to my channel only. Notification of upcoming practice sessions are emailed 5-7 days prior to a practice session. Thank you for another informative vedio.. on the exercise in which the left foot goes up first and letting the motorcycle start to fall before applying power to the rear wheel is just for practice on balance and control. I can see new preloaders did not realize it in a previous vedio and do the same on the next exercise in which it wasn't required. Just my two cents. Finally, I'm getting so much better from watching your vedio, but I don't think I can get up to your skill level anytime soon. It's definitely a great challenge to practice slow speed maneuver. Thanks again Robert

A time saver I use is on the slow ride. I have them all abreast in a line with me in the middle walking, and tell them to try not to pass me. I start kinda briskly, and keep walking slower and slower. You find out pretty quick who has too little throttle (stalls) or has the clutch out (can't go slow).
I also tell them to practice this when coming to red lights, instead of stopping quickly, which is how I learned.

Hey Robert. So I took a motorcycle class last weekend bc you inspired me to do so. The class was very enlightening. Get this, the next day I went out to an open lot to practice my slow manuevers only to burn my dog gone clutch. I thought that a wet clutch wouldn't get smoked as easily as a car's clutch, when you keep it engaged in slow movements. Goes to show you how much more I need to learn.

    • @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
      @BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle  3 года назад +1

Hey Jesus. Sorry about your clutch, but the highlight of you message for me was you were inspired to take a motorcycle class and you went out to practice. That’s great! Keep it up brother!

Another great video! Guys, and gals, these practice exercises are invaluable. I’ve been riding a little over a year. My first bike. Last year I went to my first bike rally in Red River NM. It was very intimidating as I had my bike for about a month. (I successfully completed the MSF training in Durango. Great instructors)Red River is a small rally compared to a lot of others. After that I found Roberts videos and started practicing learning to “trust and believe”. I rode 8 hours to AZ bike week last weekend and having the fundamentals down has given me that confidence one needs when around 10’s of thousands of bikers. Great stuff Robert!

Mr? Simmons...I dunno if I told you or not, but in teaching the RLAP course, I went around to industrial parks, state parks, and different places that' had large parking lots, asking if they'd mind if we borrowed the lots. Every time, I got a solid NO, because we live in a sue-happy society full of ridiculous judges who support the insanity (remember the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit?).
What I found out when we had set up in a church parking lot one Saturday from the pastor who was jogging around the property was not only were we welcomed, but.even encouraged to come again (just not on Sunday)!
BTW, fatboy wheels on my Heritage made no difference in the wind at all, and I ride in all weather. The downside of them is 26 lbs. apiece, but I have the motor to push them.

Good stuff man... I just watched your traveling down to Florida video meeting up with ride like a pro guy... I will say this... I'm 58 and I've been riding since I was 18... Thought I knew all I needed to know... Just happened to watch ride like a pro before I went down to Tennessee to ride the circuits down there... The tale, moonshiners run, diamondback, blue ridge parkway, and the devil's triangle, and if I hadn't washed that, doing the triangle with three 180° switchbacks uphill, not knowing about the friction zone and keeping power to the rearwheel at all times... I'm sure it would have laid it down with tragic results. Keep doing what you're doing... Old dogs CAN learn new tricks! Later

I've watched and loved every video you've put out and will continue to do so. But in my opinion, I feel the session members should be limited to at most 10. This session seemed a bit out of control and as a viewer, some of those guys were getting away with things you normally would have called them out on immediately. But all that matters is everyone had the best of intentions and I'm sure a lot were just psyched to be there. Respect from Boston, MA sir.

Robert Simmons don't be intimidated by those fat boy solid wheels ... A good hard gust of wind from the side can blow you over whether you got spokes or not... It was about 1982 and Sturgis bike week was over and we were traveling East on the interstate and the wind was blowing from the south so hard our bikes were leaned into the wind about 45° angle going straight down the road... And then we would come up on an interstate overpass and guess what there's no wind blowing there and you're already leaned over to 45° angle to the right and you're off the road instantly before you can correct and as soon as you come out of that overpass which only last for about a second and a half if you just and you get straightened up a little bit it wants to blow you over to the left I mean it was it was scary and after the first couple ones we survived that and there's like I don't know how many more before we get back to Indiana but it was just total hell.... And you didn't want to go very fast you want to keep your bike and steady as possible so you can maneuver this wind deal from the south and so you're in the slow lane on the interstate and then when you come out of one of those overpasses it blows you over into the fast lane into the car is trying to pass you I mean it was it was dangerous as hell there was nothing else we can do was out there in the middle of prairie it wasn't wasn't any Town inside for miles and miles and we just had to stay with it

Awesome channel! Anyway, can you comment on the phrase, "keep it loaded?" I mean, I think I get it, maintain a constant "load" (pressure, wrist, twist, GAS) on the throttle. Is that level maintained sub 15 mph and then the work is largely in the degree of clutch, head and eyes?
I am a new again rider after 30+ years and Its been this "keep it loaded" concept I think I've been missing. I've been trying to work the hands together and a more elaborate dance than this "keep it loaded" idea would suggest. No?

It's about "the take-off". Keep a steady gas while letting out the clutch (from the friction zone) for a smoother controlled take-off from a stop.
Under ideal circumstances it would continue up to the next shift point.

I’m not a motorcycle guy, but watching George on a motorcycle doing maneuvers in a parking lot was pure poetry. He also would teach guys how to ride safely. George informed me that he was the guy that invented the V formation that departments use. I also met another retired highway patrol officer named Tony Augello. Tony didn’t do motorcycles. I've put 30 miles on my new bike and all of it was practice riding with Turn From Stop, Weaving, Throttle / Clutch control and Stopping. It seems that U-Turns just come natural for me since I'm not afraid to lean the bike. Anyway, watching your video was helpful for me. You explained the Turn from Stop very well and I'll be practicing that next weekend weather permitting. My Beginner Rider Course is in the first week of May ' 20.
