- How to replace your NOx sensor on your Paccar MX engine and save a ton of money by doing so. It isn't a hard job (this is the front or inlet NOx Sensor). We will walk you through it step by step.

I am so glad you guys made this video 5 years later it is still helping people out just did this for my dad the mechanic who put one on for us before had the whole thing zip tied all the way up there couldn’t even find the yellow release button tbh I think he broke the yellow release button but it just slipped out once I cut the zip ties but my dad won’t tell him anything

Next time you guys remove a EGR value. Please do a video. I would like to do a emission tune up in the near future on my MX13. Thanks for all the information.
You can also test for voltage and continuity at the plug the make sure it is your nox sensor or not, pins 1 and 4 should show battery voltage, pins 2 and 3 should show around 55 to 60 ohms with the battery disconnected
The pretend-engineers did such a horrible job on determining the location of all these sensors and their connectors. It's ridiculously difficult to access so many plugs on these motors and the exhaust system. The engineers should be required to work on one of these trucks sometime to see how shitty of a job they did.
I saw a video on time saving tools and one them was called a Mini Ducter. You put the coiled wire end over a nut or bolt, etc and in about 30 seconds it's red hot and ready to come out. Great for working around fuel lines or fuels tanks that aren't torch friendly. ;-)

Ken Lye it’s not a hard job to do at all. If you don’t have a way to clear codes or regen your truck take a look at this video, it will pay for itself the first time you need it to get out of a derate vs going to a dealer and paying them and having to wait for a regen ruclips.net/video/o10jJYeeZ50/видео.html

How did he get "inside the little silver box" to unscrew the 2 bolts holding the electronic part....?????
Another problem in the system is the SCR doser because it stays open and plug the outlet NOx sensor mounted on the exhaust pipe after the SCR catalyst...
I find it funny how it is shipped in a super moisture resistant bag , buts bolts to side of the engine open to the weather .

Have a question. I have a 2017 Kenworth T680 that has a tachometer that was working fine and now it's reading is approximately 5,000 rpm higher. Can you please tell me where the tachometer sensor is located at on a Paccar mx13? Thanks for your video and I am now a subscriber.

Is this the ONLY NOX sensor on the Paccar MX 13 ? I saw another video where a guy was under the passenger side of the vehicle and to pull of a heat shield and some other parts to get to it....? Hope to hear back from you soon. Thanks for the great video!!!
Outlet nox sensor is the one you saw
I’m a NOx sensor application engineer. The NOx sensor comes with anti-seize already on the treads. Putting another form on anti-seize WILL POISON a NOx sensor causing it to read incorrectly.

I had a cam sensor code show up with my check engine light on. Not sure where this sensor is located on the engine. This happened after having an engine wash. Possible sensor connector loose. Any help you can pass on would be greatly appreciated.
The yellow tab just slides up, yeh right what you really mean is they stick like hell, then they break/chip as you lever them up, then you are stuffed!
Can you explain how to change a oil pump and how to clean the oil cooler pls
Is there an easy way to remove and replace the radiator in kw t680? My clutch fan exploded and sent the fan through the radiator.
It’s not that bad just undo hoses and unbolt it and get someone to help you sit it out of there or if you have a hoist or a cherry picker to help

Paccar and isx cummins engines are the same codes and in the dpf/scr outlet nox sensor fail too..
Is the lambda sensor the same as the nox sensor?

I drive a 2014 T470 with a PX 9 , I never see any information on that engine .

Do you see a normal millage those are failing at? Reason I ask, Like the 386 SuperTruckerDan has. And most have the Paccar engine. And if I get back to driving. May try one out. That or throw new rears under my old 1995 T600 with The Series 60. Its a single axle right now.
You never know with emissions the more they idle the more parts fail so ? Never know really. It’s very expensive just keeping emissions trucks going.
Went from a 99 classic xl Detroit 13spd and 3.55s to a 13 t680 with the paccar a 10 and 3.42s worst mistake I've ever made keep your t6 forever its not worth the headache and unreliability

hay clay peterbilt 2011 three indicators on one yellow check engine light the other red stop engine the third one yellow regen light with exclamation mark on it and i have those massages engine derated , noxlimit exceed due to quanttity ,aftertreat scr oprtate iduncement severity so what do you think thanx in advance
I just cut the wire after I power probe it ND confirm it’s bad if it’s good but I still gotta remove it I’ve cut wires and then spliced them back together lmao.
If a nox sensor is bad, will it cause exhaust fumes to get Into the cab.
Not in my case. The STOP engine light activated on mine and I ended up having it towed to the dealership. Still waiting on the part, btw.

Yes you will have to clear the code and force a regen
If you don’t have a computer to do it with take a look at this, super cheap and works great. For less than one tow bill you can usually get yourself out of a ton of jams and prevent de rating. ruclips.net/video/o10jJYeeZ50/видео.html

mechanicmike they do go out. Just one of those things with emissions trucks. I wouldn’t say they go out often just depends on your luck I guess.

That part is probably most likely made overseas and they still rip people off like you being a business owner or the weekend warrior. Those dealers see nothing but dollar signs when you pull in for any kind of service... awesome video guys...👍👍👍

Nox codes can also come from egr issues

Dont forget to pull the diesel doser and clean it with carb cleaner to keep her rolling
Next time get her hot and bump it with an impact it will bust loose.
If your going to go thru the bother of pulling the doser. Why would you put it back on. For an extra $260 I’ll take a brand new one please!!
$260 vs $10 ill think ill try cleaning first and if it doesn't help oh well cost me a burger haha

Scott Pierovich I don’t have it anymore. We don’t keep them in stock. It’s a dealer item only so we just call out Peterbilt or KW rep and order them as needed due to the cost of the sensors.
Koon Trucking Thank you. My local dealer had my truck in for a recall and said outlet sensor was likely bad but they wanted to replace both. I'll just get outlet sensor when I pick up the truck and replace it myself.

Anti seize pointless. With running and regens. It will burn off. Anti seize is good for alot but most after treatment components not worth time.

Yep and you have to add in time for the regen.
That’s why I do these videos. If you look in my video description you can see the discount code for the OTR performance tool that allows you to clear codes and force a regen super easy. It will also save a ton of money if you have issues and get derated. You can use it to get you to a truck stop or off the interstate. Money well spent for that! Well i can tell you this. You saved me $840 in unnessesary fees as a new O/O. Even i can do this and i have all the mechanical skills of your average drunken chimp with a head injury. Just need to go get the new sensor next time im near a dealer.
Also i actully have a diesel laptops system. Little more intense and lets me do a lot of dealer level commands. Bought it befofe i found out the OTR system was a thing
2 things. Never buy a kenworth. Nox sensor haha welcome to after treatment. Nox befor and Nox sensor after catalyst are going to cause you issues. There easy and quick to change. You can do it in less than 15 mins.

Hey Clay, I noticed there was a similar sensor right below the NOx sensor, is that another one, or is it for something else?
There is also a Lamba sensor (air to fuel) and a temp sensor all in the same wad there.

We would just have to look at it. Can’t diagnose stuff especially emissions issues without looking at them and seeing what’s going on
