The thing is that the main character tried to deal with her trauma alone. Her "solution" to the curse was literally to isolate herself, which is not what people who suffer from a traumatic experience/mental illness should do. Every time someone mentionned the passing of her mother, she's changed subject. During the whole movie she's refusing to let her family/boyfriend/boss(friend)/psychiatrist help her. Imo in makes sense that the monster wins at the end.
The entity was so deep within her mind and her trauma was so strong and had been within her for years growing and the entity grew and became even stronger once she tried to face that trauma, the entity showed no matter what that trauma will always be there even if you think you've overcome it. I hate movies for example it were they are just like " yeah I don't believe in you anymore" yeah that's not how it works.... This was actually really good portrayal of mental illness and trauma
This movie reminds me of movie back in the 90’s called “Fallen” with Denzel Washington and John Goodman. Basically a demon would jump into peoples bodies and would terrorize them.
Gotta say, I much prefer Fallen to Smile, Fallen is kinda a low key classic imo. Smile is fun, but …. it’s a massive pet peeve when people try to convince people they’re not nuts, while acting nuts, and aggressive, then seem surprised when people don’t believe them, and that seemed to happen quite a bit in The Smile. If the main character wasn’t a medical professional in a psych ward, I’d be more sympathetic, but she’d know better than most. Seems like within the movie’s rules, killing yourself is your best, (maybe only) bet of stopping the thing.
@@RustinChole As I recall, "Fallen" ended with that... except, unknown to the protagonist, the demon could also jump to *animals,* so it was able to continue the cycle. And with this one, like Frictional Games' "Penumbra: Black Plague", we know that the entity can alter your perception of reality - so who's to say it couldn't show someone their committing suicide while alone as a trick?
What 'Mrs. Movies' was saying at the end struck me as so , so true. I deal with mental illness and also had substance abuse/addiction issues for many years. Ive been in recovery (for both issues) and doing well for many years now but there is definitely a level where you cant escape, not only just the stigma of mental illness and of addiction but even more than the stigma, is being unable to escape the things you've done. mental illness can make you behave erratically and do things that can be hurtful to others. There are so many things ive done that i wish i could take back.. treating people you love poorly and neglecting relationships due to addiction or just being in a bad place mentally... even when you 'come back' from that, the people around you dont look at you the same... whether its broken trust or people just being wary and walking on eggshells around you, the way you behave when you are dealing with mental issues has long lasting effects. you can just say 'hey im better now so forget about all this shitty stuff i did because i wouldnt have done it if i wasnt dealing with _____" mental illness doesnt give you a carte blanc on bad behavior ... not that it should, we all have to be responsible for our actions of course, but it DOES make it especially difficult to deal with in the aftermath of a struggle... its hard enough to get your head on straight again and actually recover and maintain wellness when you have mental illness, and then at the same time the difficulty is compounded by having to pick up the peices of broken relationships or even if the relationship is able to mend ok you may still live with the shame and guilt of your past actions. (sometimes you feel even more guilty when people DO forgive you when you know they really shoulnt for all you've done)
Very well said. It can make it so much harder to make amends when people you care about sometimes keep reminding you of your past and the most shameful parts of it… but I’ve also been on the other end and it’s challenging to forget when someone really hurts you too, even if they’ve changed for the better. It gets better with time but things are never really the same a lot of the time, and that sucks.
I still kind of hate the ending. It makes you feel helpless like no matter how hard you try, you're doomed. I wish the ending was more realistic where life isn't all rosy but also not all darkness, it's always a mixture.
I concur with Mrs. Movies on the ending and the mental health angle. Good call 👍 I think I've figured out current day horror, though. Go ahead and give me the same money from the studio...I'll just put you in a quiet, boring room for 2 hours and yell a few random times 😂
I actually loved that they went with the super bleak, depressing ending. Usually with horror movies, most of them have the "happy ending" where the main protagonist finally overcomes the evil or rises to the occasion to become victorious in some sort of way. In this movie, I fully was expecting the ending where she did overcome her own trauma and lit the demon on fire and then she broke the curse or whatever and the credits roll when she is safe and sound. However, that definitely did not happen and left the theater quite grief struck. I had sort of the same feeling (not as intense) after watching Speak No Evil (if you know you know). For me, there is definitely a new sense of feeling from watching certain horror movies nowadays (especially from Ari Aster) where being scared or frightened is actually the least of problems. The feeling of grief is such a far scarier thing for me because it hits on a different level. I can't say that I enjoy it, but I suppose that is what a horror movie is supposed to do, make you uncomfortable. And for that I can respect it.
Same here. The ending worked because the writers didn't go for the cliche "monster defeated by the protagonist" happy ending. It was a hopeless scenario from the beginning. When I they showed her "defeat" the entity, I was like here goes another unexplained copout happy ending, but thankfully the writers didn't go that direction.
NGL Rose was asking for it Joel could help her out a whole lot but she didn’t tell him the whole story and she couldn’t just stay with Joel Joel was friendly with her and he was really nice and Joel was the only one who believed her
I love this movie so much and it is one of the rare ones that was able to scare me when seeing it in the theaters. The audio part is scary cause she is hearing it saying her name Rose and everytime she puts it up it gets louder and louder until finally the face shows up and yells her name. The part with the cat was expected but still kills me as specially because I have cats of my own at home. Glad you both decided to react to this movie and happy new year.

The woman who you-know-what herself in the session, was gagging beforehand, that was a breadcrumb to what was going to happen, she too was being entered...
Great horror film, one of the best of the last few years. Rose being doomed was a good ending, imo. I thought her defeating the entity with fire would have been so cheesy and cliche. Also, the movie hinted at Rose’s fate in the early scene with her paranoid patient Carl. The irony of her reassuring him that he wasn’t going to die and it was all in his head, then she spent the whole movie trying to convince everyone what she was seeing was real and everyone was telling her it was only because of her trauma as a child.
Mental Illness is a theme in the movie obviously but the movie itself is more about trauma. The demon forces people deal with traumatic experiences & then it torments them until their as mentally weak as possible & it causes them to become a traumatic experience for someone else. I was hoping Rose really did beat the demon in the end but the actual ending makes more sense
When I saw this there were two girls in probably their early twenties sitting a seat over from me talking and laughing during the trailers. When the movie started they quieted down and were fucking terrified the whole time. The jump scare when she's at the computer listening to the audio caused them both to jump out of their seats and they held each other the entire rest of the film. Definitely surprised me how good this was since I really didn't think too much of it from the trailer but took a chance on it anyway.
This movie was definitely a surprise of how good it turned out to be. I expected it to be a really cheesy horror movie but no it was sm more than that and was actually pretty scary. Especially the ending truly horrifying.
@@jesterssketchbook cause I saw the smile and thought of truth or dare which is a cheesy horror movie. Then the obvious inspiration of it follows with a hint of the ring. Truly a movie I wasn’t expecting to be good but was actually a really damn good horror movie.
I watched this movie with my cousin and when I tell you this movie had me holding my breath, covering my eyes, and screaming is an understatement. I haven't been that scared in a movie theater since I watched insidious or even hereditary. I actually had nightmares and I'm a 6'3 dude. Funny story, a coworker recently poked his head out of a door and was looking at me and smiling. And the scream I scrumpt was that of a teenage girl lmao! This movie terrifies me.
honestly i cant remember last time i liked a "modern" horror this much. great noisy ambient "soundtrack" and soundwork in general. that being said, the first suicide is absolute highlight of the film. that one creeped the shit out of me.
I recently finished my PhD and saw this in theaters with my grad school friends and we all cracked up when the girl said, "I'm a PhD candidate I'm not some lunatic." Lmao I can attest we all become a bit crazy by the end
They’re mostly low budget, fun movies with creative marketing and a core lesson to take from it - idk how people can be bothered by that. They can always go watch a bajillion dollar Marvel or Avatar movie instead lol
I can't recall if it was mentioned with the one survivor, but it appears that as the days go on, the reality bending powers of the demon get stronger. By the day that Rose attempted to outwit it, it was futile as she couldn't trust her senses. In this sense, the movie is very similar to Oculus. Other films similar to this one include The Ring, It Follows, Hereditary, and Truth Or Dare (2018). It seems like the writer(s) just took the best parts of those films and crafted them into their own film.. and it really works here. It's a similar writing concept to A Classic Horror Story (2021) which basically took plot elements straight from classic horror films and positioned them so that they flowed as one continuous narrative and it worked well there, too.
Oh hey guys also I know y'all realized that's Sosie Bacon but also do y'all remember the 2010 remake of Nightmare On Elm Street the kid who played Quentin, Kyle Gallner, that's who plays the cop Joel in this.
Oh that's who that was I was like I know him from somewhere that would have really bothered me until I figured it out and who knows how long that would of taken thanks👍
Loved your interpretation. Being bipolar there might be a reason I latched on to this movie the way I did. You made it click for me thanks! Love your reactions!
I think once they begin to look at the the smile creature take the person over, they seem to become entranced, like they can't look away even if they wanted to. That's why I think its so effective at spreading, because all it takes is a glance of it to spread to the next person.
This movie was one I felt needed to be seen in theaters because in the theater, it really freaked me out. I've never cried from a movie before Smile. Edit: I think the point of the movie is to say you need to deal with mental illness, but you can't just do it all in one big "hero" moment. It has to take time. To be clear, I agree that her living past it would have been much more interesting. Edit Edit: In the advertising for this movie when she's listening to the audio, they changed the scene a bit to just have a face, so I was expecting just that in theaters, but when they switched it up to be a big ol jump scare, I got freaked out.
that trauma has to be confronted and not supressed has been my experience, the people I have known who confront the people who caused their trauma have actually gotten over it. I knew one person who was going to a therapist who was telling them to not confront their trauma causer. They were getting worse and worse so I recommended confrontation. Now they are slowly pulling out of their downward spiral. Obviously this is not always possible since the causer might be already dead, if the movie had ended in front of the burning house it would have been an amazing representation of those cases ending well.
Except in order to beat it you kill yourself with no one to witness the sacrifice . Which would be ONE BIG HERO MOMENT which goes against your paragraph about healing. 😂
This is my favorite horror movie of last year. Great performances all around, beautiful cinematography. The jump scares are f'n insane. Near the end when the entity entered into rose is very unsettling.
Loved this movie, watched it on new years eve and it really delivered. My only slight criticism of it is it falls back on the old horror trope "person is seeing things but no one believes them" trope of western horror cinema. Otherwise it is so well put together
I think the ending is appropriate. It’s less about mental illness in general and more about trauma in particular, and how trauma perpetuates itself. The ending wasn’t a studio mandate, that was the planned ending.
I like the ending, I understand about making it about mental illness, but I think what is more creepy is we don't know if she imagined it (based on the Mother's condition passed down) or if it was a demon.
I’ve decided I’ve come around on “smile” (the movie) as depressing as the ending is, and definitely could be interpreted as “mental health bad and will always get you” it can also be interpreted as “the past always catches up with you, and it doesn’t care if you’ve changed” idk, i definitley understand why some people don’t vibe with it, but I think it just have different ways of being interpreted.
I love scary movies, but i had to leave the theater after the birthday party scene. That happened to me as a kid. Our cat died in the winter, so my mom kept him in the barn until the ground thawed, and he could be buried.
I think the ending would've worked much better with just a few small changes: 1) She realizes she needs to be alone while still in the middle of the hospital (rather than in the parking lot) so that she has to run and dodge through a ton of people on her way out - with more and more of them showing the Smile face. 2) She needs to NOT call her cop ex, but instead he starts calling her (because of her speeding away from the hospital), and she keeps ignoring his calls. Crucially, she never TELLS him about needing to be alone at the end. 3) He shows up at the cabin at the end NOT because she told him where she was going, but because he was worried and had a friend in the police department track her cell phone location. This way, neither she nor he come off as idiots who could've avoided this final fate. Instead, they both do what they think is right, but tragically it's not enough.
The car window scene got me so badly. I saw a jumpscare coming but the way it happened messed me up. Reminded me of this horror story I heard as a kid called the knocking girl.
I usually hate modern horror movies since they lean intensely into cheesy jumpscares and not the actual dread and fear of the situation itself, but this isn't as bad as the other ones since it actually has uncanny and psychological horror. Babadook Is a perfect example of an actual good "modern" horror movie
mrs had an amazing take on this movie being a kind of social commentary. her version could have been like the serious oscar contender version. really impressive take.
I really don't know why she lied to the widow in that scene - she should have prefaced *everything* with "The girl he committed suicide in front of a week or so ago? She committed suicide in front of me in a *very* similar manner, and now I worry I may be next, as I suspect a pattern is at play. Could I get more information from you to either confirm or assuage my fears?" Oh, for another great horror movie, watch "Lights Out" - you'll *love* the character dynamics in that one! The ending, though, was a focus group ending that didn't like the original one, which is also why it's also a fairly short movie.
Great reaction as always you guys! Now you should probably react to "The Dead Center" (2018) and "Fallen" (1998). Those seem like just as much an inspiration for this as "Ringu" or "It Follows" in their own way.
See, I can see why you feel like they ruined it at THAT point of the film, but where they ruined it for me was revealing what the “entity” looks like. It was much scarier not knowing what exactly this thing was.
speaking demonic personification of mental illness, you should really check out the babadook! i loved smile but the babadook pulls the metaphor off way better. it’s one of my favourite horror movies of all time
*35:50** if unwrapping a dead cat on your 7th bday counts as "trauma"; then, yeah, i guess we all have a little "trauma".* i dont think that counts. _happy bday to...me..._ _JC
My fav channel/podcast Dead Meat talked about the mental health elements in this movie. But they also talked about how problematic and short a sequel would be because Joel could easily kill someone as a cop and escape the curse/get away with murder 😂😂
This was a great cinema watch. In terms of being stigmatized by mental health, it depends on the individual. I speak as someone who suffers with mental health issues, who felt like checking out this year. I'd had enough. I'm lucky to have a support network including my doctor and social prescriber.
Haha Mrs. Movie would've been a perfect cast for the movie. Very creepy smile but beautiful at the same time of course lol I don't know anything about the movie. Saw a few trailers but didn't understand it. But willing to watch it with you guys
I was drawing a picture while listening to this reaction, and when he said something about checking the christmas presents for dead animals, I laughed so hard I messed up my pic by accident.
You guys should check out "Mirrors" next. It's from 2008 and has Kiefer Sutherland within and comes up with a pretty interesting story. Actually it's a Hollywood-Remake of a japanese Classic, but I like it! 🙂
The thing I can’t get over is the fact that everyone assumed that she wrapped the bloodied, dead cat. Like, why? She was clearly horrified. If I was the sister (I don’t remember anyone’s names, sorry) I would’ve been asking “oh my gosh! How did this happen? Did you know he was missing?” Instead of “what is wrong with you? Why did you wrap a dead cat?”
I love the thumbnail photo on this one, pretty funny. It looks like you've just won the 200 million dollar state lottery jackpot or something along those lines.
Had they added a tiny kernel that all of the people had pre-existing trauma they refused to face then the mom plot would have made sense as a resolution. The cop knew enough to get up outta there when she started smiling.
"Fair to say lots of PhD candidates are lunatic" Scarecrow in Batman was a psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecture was one, heck Sigmund Frudd projected a lot of his weird fetishes on to his patients.
Trauma is the metaphor that the horror it's built on but in the story this monster is very real. It's not even identified as a demon and if it is actually a demon then it's still physical in some way. I'm pretty sure the Thing thrives on murder just as much if not more. The man in prison is alive but he is living it 24 7. The monster doesn't make people commit suicid it just kills their body in front of it's next target. The scariest part is the only way to escape it appears to actually kill yourself, which it might just let you do because i doubt it would stop it and probably would just make it stronger like it might get from the murders.
That wasn't a "breath" in the audio recording before the jump scare. It was her name "Rose" being whispered. That's what you should have watched with subtitles. You might have noticed.
I remember another film years ago with the same body hopping demon plot. At the end of that one the lead killed themself but the demon jumped to a cat that was in range.
You can’t feel the bumps on camera Jason !! Lol jk, Anyway what a great time to join yinz at anytime for real !! Love you guys ✨❤️happy new year to you and your families
First 25 minutes of this movie was genuinely unsettling, after that it is just 'okay', like most modern horror imo. I would say this movie's strong point is the soundtrack, it is truly terrifying, and fits the setting of the movie really well.
I think the movie would have been better if it ended after the boyfriend said "I'll stay with you forever" as she slowly realizes the trauma of her mother and the demon would stay with her forever, and she would have to live never knowing if it would come back. Even the name of the movie "Smile" makes sense with her having to live a life where she has to force a smile to fit in and appear well to others. Mrs. Movies opinion of this is basically similar to the one I have on Hereditary. I would have thought it better if all the fantastical elements in that were not real and it were just about a schizophrenic person.
This movie was very creepy and I loved that about it. I have never been scared by a movie but this one almost did it. That box cover sitting there was unnerving during this reaction.
That demon face rip at the end is one of the scariest things I’ve seen in a very long time, they gave me so many willies
It didn’t scare me so much as really gross me out, but yeah, horrifying.

This only works for the metaphor. She can’t get their help because they don’t believe the monster story.
@@j0j01192 I see too often people making scary things relatable to trauma. Then the monster disappears and its all deep or something
Yeah, but even with the first girl or even in the original short film where they are trying to seek help it seems that it wins regardless.
Had that nailed that home it would have worked.

I recently finished my PhD and saw this in theaters with my grad school friends and we all cracked up when the girl said, "I'm a PhD candidate I'm not some lunatic." Lmao I can attest we all become a bit crazy by the end
"Madness is like gravity, all you need is a little push."
Joker??

Fun story, my friend told me that every time he sees the poster for the movie it reminds him of me XD good times
Happy New Year and here’s to another great year of content from Mr and Mrs Movies.
Imo the message of the movie was more about suppressing trauma and how you have to face it at early before it's too late ..
Anyway love your vids💜
The real villains in this movie: her fiancé and her sister.
Honestly. They were both pretty awful. Very self-centered.
If someone close to you started ranting about an entity that no else but her can see, would you act any differently?
@@kamenyake5708 I would try to help this person? they literally were mad at her so yes, I would act diffrently.
@@kamenyake5708 uMMMM YEAH... I would not abandon them or make them feel insane. I'd stay by there side and get them help
Saw this three times in the theater! People complain about the dominance of horror films at the box office, but I love it.
Me too 💜
They’re mostly low budget, fun movies with creative marketing and a core lesson to take from it - idk how people can be bothered by that. They can always go watch a bajillion dollar Marvel or Avatar movie instead lol
HA! Ok - I love the commentary here. "I would believe you... buuuuut I wouldn't be with you!" That got an audible laugh for me 🤣
Never thought “she’ll be smiling when she dies, though” could sound so dreadful 😂
I agréé 💯💯!!! Same thoughts!!!
00:02 I usually don't "jump" at jump scares, but that one got me when I saw the movie.
I think I would've done a lot of Joker quotes haha "Let's put a smile on that face"
I hope Barbarian comes next. That movie and Smile are considered the best Theatrically released horror movies of 2022.
Pearl was really good too although I'm not sure if it was in theaters.
Barbarian was alright... nothing special
The Mrs. even had goosebumps on her butt. 😂🤣😂🤣
Oh hey guys also I know y'all realized that's Sosie Bacon but also do y'all remember the 2010 remake of Nightmare On Elm Street the kid who played Quentin, Kyle Gallner, that's who plays the cop Joel in this.
Mrs.- Is she dead ?
Mr.- No she's sleeping with her eyes open.
Me- Oh, she must have kids.
Great reaction as usual. If you want another recent F'd up movie, check out Barbarian (2022). I watched both these movies on Halloween, bad move lol.
Why? Are you a child? Adults don't get scared from films.
I had no idea that A-Train was in this movie! Love the work that actor does on The Boys!
I didnt have the same experience but I love cats so the birthday disturbed me. I'm sorry about your cat
I think the ending would've worked much better with just a few small changes:
1) She realizes she needs to be alone while still in the middle of the hospital (rather than in the parking lot) so that she has to run and dodge through a ton of people on her way out - with more and more of them showing the Smile face.
Same on the car window
I usually hate modern horror movies since they lean intensely into cheesy jumpscares and not the actual dread and fear of the situation itself, but this isn't as bad as the other ones since it actually has uncanny and psychological horror.
Babadook Is a perfect example of an actual good "modern" horror movie
mrs had an amazing take on this movie being a kind of social commentary. her version could have been like the serious oscar contender version. really impressive take.
as far as i know, she said in one video she got a majorin psychology
Try It Follows. It similar in tone, though a lot less jump scares. It is beautifully shot and the score is fantastic.
Love that movie.
I was pleasantly surprised with that one. Thought it was just gonna be a cheesy teen horror. Nope it was actually pretty darn good
Good suggestion! Similar vibes to this
I really don't know why she lied to the widow in that scene - she should have prefaced *everything* with "The girl he committed suicide in front of a week or so ago? She committed suicide in front of me in a *very* similar manner, and now I worry I may be next, as I suspect a pattern is at play. Could I get more information from you to either confirm or assuage my fears?"
Oh, for another great horror movie, watch "Lights Out" - you'll *love* the character dynamics in that one!
I would like to see they react to The sadness.
@@scluciano Yes!
Lollipop was played at the end because the entity's nickname is Lollipop.
When was that established? Is that an inside joke?

Wow, the scene with the sister at the car actually made me jump. I hate jump scares, but that was pretty good.
Loved the reaction 😂, watch Insidious next I'm pretty sure you guys will enjoy it😏
See, I can see why you feel like they ruined it at THAT point of the film, but where they ruined it for me was revealing what the “entity” looks like. It was much scarier not knowing what exactly this thing was.
speaking demonic personification of mental illness, you should really check out the babadook! i loved smile but the babadook pulls the metaphor off way better. it’s one of my favourite horror movies of all time
Smile Reminds me of that movie Truth or Dare where the entity would make a personal Smile unnaturally wide.
Imma need her to stop looking away 😂😂😂😂
*35:50** if unwrapping a dead cat on your 7th bday counts as "trauma"; then, yeah, i guess we all have a little "trauma".* i dont think that counts. _happy bday to...me..._ _JC
What’s brilliant about this reaction is that the first shot is closing of eyes during a frightening part. Just saved me 48 minutes! 👍🏽
At one point Rose prepares a bowl of wet food for the cat, and in the next scene the bowl has dry food.
"They ruined it."
Yeah you're right. I totally agree.
Literally got a Smile Ad while watching this reaction to it. A little too much Smiling for me, thanks!
Haha Mrs. Movie would've been a perfect cast for the movie. Very creepy smile but beautiful at the same time of course lol
I don't know anything about the movie. Saw a few trailers but didn't understand it. But willing to watch it with you guys
I was drawing a picture while listening to this reaction, and when he said something about checking the christmas presents for dead animals, I laughed so hard I messed up my pic by accident.
I just watched LME's video on this. Perfect timing
You guys should check out "Mirrors" next. It's from 2008 and has Kiefer Sutherland within and comes up with a pretty interesting story. Actually it's a Hollywood-Remake of a japanese Classic, but I like it! 🙂
the bluray case of smile is haunting me
They can make a sequel no matter the ending. The world could blow up at the end and we'll get a prequel.
34:20 🤣
The thing I can’t get over is the fact that everyone assumed that she wrapped the bloodied, dead cat. Like, why? She was clearly horrified. If I was the sister (I don’t remember anyone’s names, sorry) I would’ve been asking “oh my gosh! How did this happen? Did you know he was missing?” Instead of “what is wrong with you? Why did you wrap a dead cat?”
It's a mix of The Ring and It Follows and probably another movie
I just got this for Christmas and I heard it's a pretty crazy horror film!
I'll be watching it tomorrow night!
Have fun. :D
Oh hey it's the Sheriff from Stranger Things
How does it feel to be the best in world. Your voice is unprecedented.
32:40 Awesome Creepy Smile Mrs. Movies....glad the girls didn't walk in with you making that face 😈 lmao!!
"Fair to say lots of PhD candidates are lunatic"
Scarecrow in Batman was a psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecture was one, heck Sigmund Frudd projected a lot of his weird fetishes on to his patients.
Started the new year with a banger. Smile was in my Top 3 horror movies from last year.
The scariest part is the only way to escape it appears to actually kill yourself, which it might just let you do because i doubt it would stop it and probably would just make it stronger like it might get from the murders.
the most awesome movie reaction channel you guys are great!!!!
" Smile 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on October 18, 2024."

You can’t feel the bumps on camera Jason !! Lol jk, Anyway what a great time to join yinz at anytime for real !! Love you guys ✨❤️happy new year to you and your families
This was the scariest movie that Christina has ever seen!
First 25 minutes of this movie was genuinely unsettling, after that it is just 'okay', like most modern horror imo. I would say this movie's strong point is the soundtrack, it is truly terrifying, and fits the setting of the movie really well.
in theatres that title card was one of the most uncomfortable moments of the movie lol
Dude you are so in the dog house 🤣
I think the movie would have been better if it ended after the boyfriend said "I'll stay with you forever" as she slowly realizes the trauma of her mother and the demon would stay with her forever, and she would have to live never knowing if it would come back. Even the name of the movie "Smile" makes sense with her having to live a life where she has to force a smile to fit in and appear well to others.
Mrs. Movies opinion of this is basically similar to the one I have on Hereditary. I would have thought it better if all the fantastical elements in that were not real and it were just about a schizophrenic person.
I didn't know Carla from Scrubs was in this movie!
The birthday scene 😭
This movie was very creepy and I loved that about it. I have never been scared by a movie but this one almost did it. That box cover sitting there was unnerving during this reaction.
When I first saw it wasn't that scary because it just people smiling at you but it super creepy 😁💯
