"The worst Nintendo fuck up since the virtual boy." DGM: "What's the virtual boy?" Exactly but to give an answer it was the original 3D viewing game that was designed to be portable, easy to play, have a lot of games and failed at everything stated above. It was barely even classified as 3D.
9:17 The Power Glove back then was $75, through inflation, that’s about somewhere close to $160 nowadays. With that money, you were better off buying a game or two, instead of a motion controller that barely worked most of the time.
1:53 The Virtual Boy was Nintendo’s attempt at a virtual-reality console… in 1995! Here were the problems; 1. It was advertised as a portable console, despite the fact that it had to be plugged in to work. Plus, it didn’t even include a head strap, which doesn’t help with how bulky it was. 2. Most of the games it had weren’t even in a first-person, so what was the point in making it a virtual-reality system? 3. The graphics were in red & black, which, if you play for a good chunk of time, could really damage your eyes.
it was basically a 90's version of the VR, only most of the games sucked, and if you used it for too long, you could go blind. also, you could literally hold the entire library of the games that it had in one hand. THAT'S how many games it had.

The Virtual Boy was Nintendo's first big attempt at 3D/Virtual Reality. It failed for 3 big reasons: 1. The console was advertised as a portable, but it was a set of goggles on a STAND. Which you couldn't remove. 2. The games were all monochrome, but for some reason in an eye-searing RED. It actually damaged your vision if you played it long enough. 3. The console only had 28 games to its name, and only one of them could be considered good (Virtual Boy Wario Land).
I'm not sure which Tom & Jerry movie review Rob means, because there was "Tom & Jerry: The Movie" (v=74Ufi53RNqw) and "Tom & Jerry (2021)" (v=1_fX6-uASbE).
The Wizard is a classic movie. The story isn’t much to talk about, but the thing that makes it memorable is when they heavily endorsed Nintendo products. This is the movie that revealed the power glove and super Mario bros 3. That’s what made it very memorable. Plus Nintendo actually made a tournament in the 90s too. It called The Nintendo World Championship and this movie again promoted it too. The winner gets a golden NES cartridge when they reach first place.
Ya know, over the years especially when I was young, I knew that the Nintendo power glove was a thing, even though I wasn’t born when it was around. However I did not know they made an actual movie to advertise it, I honestly thought all the Wizard stuff was just a commercial. Also, have you either been or to a demolision derby.
The funny thing about people complaining about this film being a glorified Nintendo ad is that there were just as many people back then complaining that there wasn’t enough game footage in it and that it didn’t really give them an idea of how fun these games were.
And remember that this movie was advertizement. The movie making money is just a drop in the bucket on what they made by selling Powergloves and Mario 3 thanks to this turd
