"So I laid some nights beside her/In a bed made for a queen/She said I kissed her different/That all the men her age were mean" This song is so fucking well written.
Conor is so sexy. It doesn't even have to do with the way he looks, just the way he handles himself onstage and pours his heart into his music. It's beautiful.
This was such a great performance! And Gillian & Dave! I love checking back in every once in a while with this video. Thank you for continuing to share this treasure FOREVER
@klarolivia I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I believe that's Rachel Blumberg. She was the drummer in the Decemberists for their first three albums...she's fantastic.
Love it when I see a female drummer :) It's misunderstood that only male drummers will do, because women are just as good ! And it's such a cool band, Bright Eyes, she's lucky that they have enough perspective to join her in their band :D
@klarolivia She's Maria Taylor, and she also sings, plays guitar and makes very beautiful and unique music. But, seriously, there is a lot of great female drummers (see Quasi or The Velvet Underground, for example) in a lot of genres. They're great too, and they can be better than the men, the drum is not about strong, is about play an instrument and about feelings. So, I love it too, but I think that this is not a strange think. Female drummers rock a lot, and Maria Taylor is just fantastic.
Moe Tucker (Velvet) was dope. Malkmus commented on her 'un-ironic drumming [,]' and, as you all surely know, Malkmus is rare to praise. What was it he said about The Fall? 'No one ever got rich off of ripping them off'? Which is a great comment, because Pavement cited both The Fall and The Replacements as being their primary influences.
@klarolivia Oh shit, I said it wrong, she's Janet Weiss from Quasi (I though it was Maria because of the Cassadaga era and this shows...). So, Jane Weiss is a very great drummer, just see in Quasi, Quasi really really rocks. Sorry for the failure.
Sorry if this has been asked, but does anyone have any idea as to why Conor looks over at Welch prior to her vocal parts? It is, in a way, obvious, fitting, and all together proper that he would do this, but it seems as though he is reminding her of when she is supposed to start. Any idea? Thanks.
@Musicmaster182 not true at all. the last time he refers to was road to joy inwich he gives conor respect only. also, letterman has had them on many times and he had them play when the president talks to god when bush was in office and it was relivent and very dramatic. i dont think that performance is still on here but if it is you should watch it.

"Never trust a heart so bent, it can't break". Conor fucking Oberst. Genius of a musician
Literally my favorite line of all time
I can't believe I never saw this before. One of the best Bright Eyes songs, with the best special guests ever.
One of my favourites. Beautiful performance.
Conor is so sexy. It doesn't even have to do with the way he looks, just the way he handles himself onstage and pours his heart into his music. It's beautiful.
+Jess i completely agree
He spit on my friend. On purpose. For no reason while he was out of his mind drunk or coked up but probably both. Beautiful indeed.
Love Conor!
He kinda stands like a weiner. Dont get me wrong hes awesome.
It's a lil bit the way he looks too.
I always feel like this song is 12 minutes long..but its just the best four minutes of my life.
This was such a great performance! And Gillian & Dave! I love checking back in every once in a while with this video. Thank you for continuing to share this treasure FOREVER
i love the way conor looks at gillian as if to say ''okay, we sing... now!''. their all such talented musicians
Wow, I love this song so much. It gives me chills every time. I can't wait to see him perform at the belly up tavern in october (:
Who is this talk show guy? He's the only guy I've seen who has actually given Bright Eyes true respect. I love it (:
I always love to watch Conor interact with the musicians on stage...
@klarolivia I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I believe that's Rachel Blumberg. She was the drummer in the Decemberists for their first three albums...she's fantastic.
Best country singers died in the back of classic cars.
Well, to be fair, she WAS in Sleater-Kinney, one of the best bands ever.
Gillian and Dave! Legends.
There's an awful lot to choose from... Among his best songs anyway
nice melody
gillian welch is amazing...cool mix of bright eyes and the dave rawlings machine...hmmm

Love it when I see a female drummer :) It's misunderstood that only male drummers will do, because women are just as good ! And it's such a cool band, Bright Eyes, she's lucky that they have enough perspective to join her in their band :D
You like Scott pilgram huh
I'm disappointed there's no falling minor piano part right after "it's a room I'm renovating" I always listen for that on the album.
@Musicmaster182 Craig Ferguson, he's the best late night talker there is.
Play with anyone, if you can jam you can jam.
Coo Hair.

WHY DONT I HAVE THIS ALBUM YET!!! Dx

Bright Eyes has its own nice pace, I'm always amazed though how similar his voice is to that of Elliott Smith. Diffident styles, similar feelings.
@DavidHallermusic It's Rachel Blumberg. She looks a bit like Janet Weiss.
That was on Leno, actually.
@LILTRUCKER123 Oops...I didn't see female "drummer". Yea, I know she's the singer...my bad.
@TomLindstromRV That's not Maria in this clip. It's Janet Weiss. :)

Ryan Ortega Idunno, He May just be anticipating too much. Well I just answered a six year old comment.
@pascalzifffhume I'd fucking love to see that cover :P
She isn't just a female....she's Gillian Welch!
@Musicmaster182 not true at all. the last time he refers to was road to joy inwich he gives conor respect only. also, letterman has had them on many times and he had them play when the president talks to god when bush was in office and it was relivent and very dramatic. i dont think that performance is still on here but if it is you should watch it.
is there a video of when they wrecked fergusons stage?

@pascalzifffhume Would have to marry that girl instantaneously. Unless she had hulk arms ofc
@klarolivia except shes a bad drummer haha
This video was filmed with a potato
Fucking exgirlfriend stole this cd from me.
ex introduced me to bright eyes. I thanked her by burning her a copy of every album from Connor I bought, even though we don't talk.
@klarolivia Cmon, everyone knows girls cant play drums silly!
@klarolivia this drummer sucks though
@LILTRUCKER123 Oops...I didn't see female "drummer". Yea, I know she's the singer...my bad.
