I bought one of these knives about 3 years ago and it really is a do-all knife. This thing can really take a beating and is super easy to sharpen. Love the channel! Keep up the great work!

I can't remember how long ago that I purchased my SRK in VG-1, but it came in flat sabre grind with a slippery coating. It's one of my favorites. I also recently purchased the SRK-C in SK5, just because I enjoy the model line & have had an allegiance to, & confidence in Cold Steel in general for decades.

The SRK was around before the Fallkniven I believe. Also I took the edge down to a 20 degree per side. It’s now really good at carving stuff. Mine was like 25-30 degree before.

Just ordered one of these yesterday. I've been eyeballing it for months while looking at reviews on all the good budget friendly options out there. I kept circling back to this one though. Can't wait to get it!

Actually the original steel was carbon V which was a 1095 cro van made by camillus, very similar to what ka bar still uses. It was made in USA starting in 1984, I have that original version and it's great, flat saber grind, takes and holds a great edge

2:00 I began buying Cold Steel S.R.K.'s since ~1990. They started in Carbon V. If one is the follow-up or the copycat, it's NOT Cold Steel S.R.K.; it's Falkniven.

Yeah, remember them old Cold Steel sheathes?🤮 I used to instantly replace all my Cold Steel sheathes with custom Kydex, from Cutlery Shoppe!
But, hey! How 'bout that Carbon V; eh?! Them's was the day's, Brother! Their original, Carbon V Master Hunter was the knife to beat all knives! It wasn't a dedicated chopper (Trail Master), but, that knife could do it all and it still stands above any S.R.K., to this day.

Regarding the "lemons" most knives I've seen break was due to user negligence using a knife for what a knife is not made for or with delusional expectations, or in destruction testing. Overall an incredible knife. I would make a full tang version with micarta scales tho.

good video. i love the srk but just recently got one when it came out in sk-5, i did not want the aus-8 version. couple of corrections, its actually a 6" blade. first introduced i beleive it was in "carbon v" steel which was cold steels name for whatever high carbon / spring steel they happened to be using.

Just got mine from Amazon, right at 40 dollars. It looks like a nice knife. It will be tested this summer when I'm hiking. I also have the Cold Steel Recon Tanto, that I got back in the 80's. It cost more back then :) It is a hollow grind, but its very subtle. Now my Buck 119, that has a serious hollow grind.

Glad I came across and subscribed to your channel. Probably one of , if not the best no BS knife reviewers . Recently had my rush12 EDC/ go bag stolen . Had my kabar , my mora and bahco in it unfortunately. Im In the process of kitting out a new one and this is the knife im Probably going with . I'm also drawn to the esee 6. Part of me wants to get another kabar just because I've gotten familiar with how to use it in the woods but its definitely not optimal. Not that I ever had and real problems. Off topic what are the pants you're wearing in this vid ?

I had a Carbon-V SRK and Trailmaster when I was stationed in Fairbanks in the early 90s. I let a friend talk me out of the Trailmaster when I was PCSing. I still regret that. I gave the SRK to my dad when I left AK The SRK saw a lot of use on the Mississippi River where my parents were caretaking an island in eastern Arkansas and even more use later in other outdoor locations. I got it back eventually and later gave it to my son. I was kind of jonesing for another not long ago and picked up the SRK in SK-5. I liked it so well that I picked up a second one. They were $42 and change each. I have everything from Rough Rider to Randall Made (Models 14 and 10-3) and many things in between. The SRK is still a darned good all-around belt knife or even on MOLLE. Not too big and not too small. Let's get real. If I'm really going to tramp around the bush I'll either have my Skrama 240 or a classic tomahawk along too.
Btw, what river is that? Definitely looks glacier fed from the silty look. I miss Alaska. Especially, with the hard drought here in SW Texas near the border.

My knife wall is TINY now man , I got rid of everything but there is a couple more blades I want on that wall that I've wanted for years . One is the Kabar Becker BK10 and an Esee 3HM or 4HM I'm still deciding, its gotta be with a kydex sheath . I've never had an Esee so it's gotta happen someday 😆
