      @@Napalbe I need to save up money for the OBX8 so i'm having a bit of a studio clear out. The Rev2 went last week and my Summit is also on Ebay. It's very hard selling such great synths but i know that i can always buy them back at a later date.

      Luke, what do you think of the sound of the Take 5 vs the Rev 2, and which one in your opinion has more depth, movement and rawness? Any preference on which one you preferred programming sounds on? Would love to know your thoughts. Thank you

    • @lukeneptune3820

      @@theredfaceofficial the Take 5 is deffo fatter and a bit more vintage sounding but not by a great margin. The Take and Rev2 actually sound quite similar. If the Take 5 had the features of the Rev2 i think it would be the better synth but it doesn't and that's what makes it a difficult choice between the two. The Rev2 having more voices, splits and layers makes it a bit more fun to make sounds on. But if you don't mind 5 voices and aren't bothered about splits and layers then the Take 5 may be the way to go. Another plus the Take has over the Rev2 is that you can have two FX on a patch where as the Rev2 can only have one FX which i've always found a bit of shame.

    Morning luke. I have had my T5 for about a year now. Love the interface and simplicity however I find the sound a bit too bright at times and it lacks a bit of depth compared to the p5 and p6 videos on RUclips. Do you think the P6 is a worthy upgrade to give that creamier Sequential sound? When I look and the p6 demos it definitely has a bigger sound to it. Cheers.Dave

    • @kujumz806
      @kujumz806 2 года назад +5

      T5 is bassier and the filter is “creamier” than the P6s. T5 may have a tad less high end than some of the other Prophets - but I mean just listen to the patch here at 12:15. youve got the whole frequency spectrum here.

    • @evryordnryprsn

      Plus the T5’s filter doesn’t step like the higher end sequential synths?

    He luke , I hade a prophet 5 rev 4 , loved it , but I traded it for a
    Rhodes mk1 … love that 2 . But miss my analog cream on top . So I think the take 5 would be superb, but would the rev 2 come closer to the p5 sound ? Also I like the idea of a compact synth in top of the Rhodes … but man the p5 sounded so fat … and if I could I would buy the new obx8 haha but I can’t … maby one day . But my question is take 5 ore rev 2 …. Just want to know the one you would pick ✌️

    • @SebasAdamo
      @SebasAdamo Год назад +3

      Same for me, although I maybe also would choose the Prophet 6 or OB 6. Note that the rev2 is DCO, so it sounds more narrow because all oscillators are at the same frequency and do not drift. You can make them drift with a trick, to get that more analog sound (VCO). For that, see Creative Spiral's videos. Also keep in mind that the rev2 will not get any new functions/firmware updates according to Sequential.
      The Take 5 sounds so warm (good low and the VCO helps a lot). As Luke demonstrates, you can use it to come close to the Prophet and Oberheim sounds. Currently the Take 5 is on top of my want list.

    Luke..you are in my opinion on of the greats right now. Does this synth sound good? It sounds like a VST. Maybe a little better. But not a lot. Your honest opinion.

    • @kujumz
      @kujumz 6 месяцев назад

      how on earth does this sound like a vst? the vcos and vcfs are the real deal. listen with your ears.

    • @productamadeus8745
      @productamadeus8745 6 месяцев назад

      @@kujumz Ku, let me rephrase this. I just feel like VST’S are getting better and the analogs are getting cheaper. You have to remember, these things used to cost as much as a car! Corners are being cut somewhere. To me it does not sound as good as the top tier analogs. That’s not a bad thing. Just that VST’S….the good ones…..and especially the Seventh Generation Super Synth…make these cheap analogs not as appealing.

    • @kujumz
      @kujumz 6 месяцев назад

      @@productamadeus8745 I’m a fan of Roland and GeForces VST offerings so I understand what you mean on that.
      However, the cost savings of the Take 5 are because it does not have analog envelope generators and the build quality. The former is very costly and ironically it does not result in differences of sound by comparison to their digital counterparts these days. The analog feel of a synth primarily comes from the freely running vcos phasing against each other when played and the vcfs.
      The Take 5 100% actually sounds better than the P6 and OB6 and holds its own with the P5 and OBX8. Those are the only 3 new production analog synths I would personally bother with.
