Subscribed! And THANK YOU! Quick short videos like this is what we need sir. I changed the bulb once by turning the wheels completely on one side but that is still a PAIN. Though it looks like a lot of work, I think the bumper removal method is easier, cleaner and safer. Had I known this method before, I would have removed the bumper. My windshield fluid reservoir is leaking and I am guessing it is easy to remove once the front bumper has been removed? Once again, thank you for being very articulate, to the point and showing the whole thing from start to finish. Thank you.
DIGITAL CANADA PRODUCTIONS Thanks! I’m glad you found this video helped you out! I haven’t replaced the reservoir on this car yet but from the looks of it, yes removing the bumper will likely be needed.
Pretty good tutorial I dont kno if it's just me but I dont usually pick such long videos for something as simple as a lightbulb change but cars like this or my Audi (German cars) seem to need it though I would appreciate making the videos shorter but still concise. We can rewind if need be.... so anyway I made the mistake of thinking I could do it without taking off the bumper and cracked the piece in between the grill and lamp. Argg super upset especially after realizing it took only an extra 4 minutes to do it right... 2 lessons learned so thank you, thank you; I got her done!!
Sorry to bust your bubble but I have a 2004 Cadillac SRX for about 7 years now... I never, ever had to take off the front bumper to replace the headlight assembly or to replace any of the bulbs. I even added HID headlights to replace the factory bulbs... never pulled off the bumper!
Larose Royce my bubble is not busted. If you actually watched the video, I mentioned that people have done this without taking off the bumper. No skin off my behind.
When you turn on the lights? If you have HIDs the. Chances are the ballast underneath the light housings are shorted out. This actually happened to me on this same car in the video. I replaced the bulbs because one was bad. Then the lights worked for about a week. Then right after the car went through an car wash, that night the lights would NOT work. Kept popping the fuses. So I removed the headlights again, and sure enough all that water went into the electric ballast that are screwed to the bottom of the headlight housings. When you turn on the lights, it then shorts out inside those ballast and pops the fuses. The ballast need to be replaced. When I pulled them off I could pour water out of them. They are really in a bad location as they can catch a lot of water when the rubber seals go bad on them. They are easy to replace. Just follow this video to remove the lights, then take the ballast off the bottom of the housings and install the new ones.
andreu molina Did you check your fuses before you replaced the light bulb? If not pop into the fuse box under hood and look at the diagram underneath the box lid. Look for your respective side. RT light lo beam LT light lo beam ^should look something like that. If they are blown replace them. If they keep blowing then you most likely have a problem with the light control module attached directly to the bottom of the headlight housing. Going through car washes that spray high pressure water straight up and rain also will seep into this module and short it out.
Elijah Huber I have not made a video on this particular item. This failure is quite common on most GM Bose equipped models (srx, cts, sts, etc...) Unfortunately the amp on your SRX is located behind the driver side tail light. You will have to remove the interior rear most side paneling. Also you may have to move the automatic hatch motor as well. I can see if I can find a car to demonstrate this procedure on but honestly I am not sure if I can just find a broken SRX that I can pull apart right away.
Jesus, just to replace a headlight bulb. No wonder these cars are garbage. Same thing with chrysler and lincoln. Honda and Toyota are the easiest cars to work on and way much reliable.
Unfortunately yes. Quite a bit of work just to change a bulb. Others have found easier ways around the correct way. All cars will have something that is far harder than it could have been. Including new Honda’s and Toyota’s. Good luck.
All of this is not necessary. I have changed this bulb myself and I have let some on else do it on a 2005 cadillac srx more than once without moving the bumper. The three screws are challenging once you remove the protective wheel well but it can be done. This looks like an HID bulb which I don't have.
Hello, I m from France and I have an SRX4, thank you for this Video 🙏🏻🙂
You did a great job explaining each step and making a seemingly big job an easy one
The engineering is pure madness.
Lol yes this is ridiculous to change a bulb. However, many newer cars are like this so I’m pretty used to it by now.
Its intentional. Its to dissuade or deter self repair.
I had a burn't out amber turn signal bulb and watching this video seems to lead me to the same procedure to get to the lower lighting unit. Thanks

Thanks for this Video. It`s help me realy good.
Thank you very much, you explained well very helpful
Great Job nice Pace
Thank you for sharing this video, everyone will appreciate it. 👍
No problem 👍
Would dropping the engine be easier?
Probably
I guess the trade in market goes crazy when a bulb burns out. Thanks GM.
Thanks for the info

Shindo Style I make the videos as short as they can be while trying to provide as much as information as possible. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful video..... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Is it necessary to remove the bumper to change the bulb in the position light?
Does bulb replacement solve the notoriously dim headlight illumination
issues with 2004 srx or do I need to replace the whole headlight housings?
If you’re headlight lenses are all cloudy and oxidized then you might need new housings.
i replaced bulbs at my old srx twice (left & right) by my own and didn't have to take off the whole bumper... D/A/G
Man U said it wasn’t difficult 😅
It’s not that bad. You got it.
It's cheaper to just get a ticket imagine the cost at a shop😭😭
That’s why you just do it yourself at home.
Pretty much huh Pablo?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷🏾♂️
Is there moisture drains? Trying to locate as my headlight has moisture and trying to not take out the headlight and see if it’s clogged.
There aren’t
I did by just jacking up the SUV and taking inside fender cover out:) easier faster
That's my plan!!
You cannot get to the headlight bulb through the fender liner. The only bulb you can get to is the corner marker light and the fog lamp.
I was just told I have to replace the whole case they said the fog light and turn signal was one unit 😅

OK COOL!!!
Was it the same headlights, though?
How did you do.that
Larose Royce you should make a video, and show us an easier way.
I did this without taking the bumper completely off . lower fog lights yes bumper off
Okay had my light bulb changed but now car not moving in drive or reverse is it something he unhooked to cause it do that
No.
Do I have to remove my bumper to change my right signal too? Or is there another way to do it.
You might be able to get at it by removing the plastic shields under the bumper and see it.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair thank you i appreciate your answer i will try today.
What is a single small square on the passenger side of outside bumper cover?
If it is anything like a European car, I believe it is a tow hook cover. Remove it and then screw in a tow hook.
Will my hid kit plug n play on the 06 srx?
TheRealDjMonsta That depends on the kit you buy. Most kits will have a harness that plugs directly into the factor harness.
Hard to believe a gm pickup has 2 pins and the headlights and turn signals fall out, takes about 15 seconds to change bulb
Facts.
Need to know how you start jumpstart a 2006 Cadillac SRX
Like any other car. Nothing special. Battery is up on the passenger side near the windshield.
What if the light blows the fuse each time?

I replaced the light but does not want to work that something else can be. Thank you

The bulb harness is corrided. Clean and put diastolic grease on bulb contacts.

The ones I ordered came and the end of the bulb is round instead of square like his. Does anyone know what ones I need to order?
Kimberly Rose. Just go into your local parts store and tell them you year and they can get them for you.
They will do it for free to because your gorgeous
Bro did you really just take the whole front clip off with headlights to replace the bulb ? Cmon man overkill
👍🏻
My 09 two or three 10mm bolts and wrestle it ouy
Can you, or have you, make a video on how to change the amp in the SRX 07 V6 model

Just take the wheels off and that will make it a whole lot easier on yourself. Then you don't have to take the whole bumper off

MrDCJSr. If it wasn’t necessary Cadillac’s service manual wouldn’t put this as the correct procedure
WRONG...
just remove a tire man.🤦🏽♂️
This is friggin' ridiculous. Disassemble half the car to replace a headlight?
It’s definitely dumb.
