Out of context, you would think this was an uplifting song from a Disney film instead of a sweet if ironic ballad dedicated to a serial killer with a God complex...
And poor Sayu, singing this, has no idea. She's also a huge MisaMisa fan in the musical; imagine finding out that the two people you look up to the most are BOTH mass murderers.
@@clarelabellerose Exactly! I think he really was a good guy at the start, he just started to lose himself after he found Death Note. It's a shame they didn't show him with his family. They could focus a bit more on his changing from someone seeking justice to wanting to be a God and could use his family to show these changes. For example, how he treated them before & after finding Death Note when he decided that he's going to do everything for the new world, even risking his family life. I think this show focused mainly on L vs Light while they could show more of what was going through Light's head. I would really like to see Light interact with his sister & being her hero, his dad that gave him that strong sense of justice (which started that whole thing), his mother and even Misa because I think deep inside him he cared about her & she was the only person to care for him until the end.

Sometimes I wish Death Note was just a heartwarming, non-murdery story about a genius kid detective with a little sister and a quirky rival and an idol girlfriend. But I'm fine with Death Note the way it is now. :')
Sayu definitely needs more character development. I always thought it would be interesting if Light's main motivation was creating a better world for his innocent little sister to live in, one where she could walk home in the dark without fear. It'd make the consequences of Mello taking her hostage have all the more of a tragic impact.

Yeah, the japanese version is a beautiful duet between Misa and Sayu, and you even got a comment from Ryuk about how wrong Sayu's understanding of her brother is XD
@@clarelabellerose I asked the creator if they were planning to release instrumentals of the songs, and he said no. :( So we're going to have to make our own. Hurricane has one but I don't think any of the others do.
The singer for this track is Laura Osnes.
(My original comment identifying the singer vanished along with my account.)

K. B. Soichiro & Sayu's songs are my personal favourites because it hits me in the feels that they genuinely love the little mass murdering git...
thank you
And the irony is strengthened tenfold when you watch the musical and see Ryuk reacting to the song in the background.
