Thank you. I learned from a video out there somewhere to use the plastic that separates the hoops, place it under your project to stabilize your project while taking it to your machine ...
DIME has a tutorial that shows to lift the top portion up over the machine without removing. Them you can adjust your quilt and then just place the top hoop back on. Prevents having to completely remove the hoop
Awesome video thank you I have been looking to purchase a magnetic hoop but was concern about the magnetic next to my embroidery machine thank you for answering that question.
Thank you, Bonnie. I love your video. The title of the video is “Magnetic Hoops for Em,broidery - Yes or No?” and it certainly answered my question and then some. There are many other videos going into greater detail on other embroidery subjects which I most certainly will seek. I particularly liked the part about handling and hooping quilts and want to return to it. So in this comment I’m giving myself a hint as to where that begins: 12:26 Hooping.
Bonnie, I so agree about the tape not being already attached! It was not the easiest thing to get perfect and I wrote to them that at the least they should have a mark for the center of each side.
I just found you video and I wish I had seen it earlier, lots of good info. Except for the measurements, I’m very happy with the monster hoop. And don’t be afraid to leave the base on the machine and moving the quilt, it works very well! 😊
Bonnie I just learned about this monster hoop I have to get one super nice ,.Listen my husband cut out a large piece of cardboard box to fit underneath the dream machine to make it easier to move closer to me when I need it.it works great .
Thank you, only got my machine in November so still very new! I know I have to keep my sissix magnetic platform well away from the laptop so thought it worth asking the question!!
I'm glad you did this review. I don't quilt, but I do Machine Embroidery. I have been curious about this. I have a Babylock Aventura. I probably don't need the size you have. Thank you for showing this.
Bonnie, I really enjoyed your presentation and I’m going on eBay this week to buy myself a monster. In the meantime, you could put your dream machine on one or two dollar tree cutting mat. Makes it move around a lot easier.
I went to Babylock and asked for magnetic hoops. I was told they do not make them for their machines! I found one on a Sew It's For Sale and the lady was great and shipped it---no problem! Thanks for this tutorial!!!
Check with the company you order from to be sure the largest shown here is compatible. The website said the one she is demonstrating with was compatible with my Dream machine I but it wasn’t.
The one I used in the video was used on my Dream Machine so I'm not sure what happened with yours. Completely agree that you need to check with the company to make sure the hoop you order will work on your make and model of machine.
ENJOYED THIS VIDEO & HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT THE MAGNETIC AROUND THE EMBROIDERY MACHINE NOT BEING AN ISSUE I am not seeing the link for where you purchased this & am wondering about the site you found it at
In Emily’s instructions she tells you to use two sided tape on the top hoop and stick it on the top of your quilt sandwich exactly where you want it. Then it is perfectly aligned and won’t move and from there you can more easily slide the bottom hoop to where it should go. Kind of hard lining up that bottom hoop just right by feel only. Did you try her method? Looked pretty easy in her video.
Yes I did use her method (her instructions are easy and very clear), but I still had to feel the bottom hoop to make sure the two hoops were aligned if that makes any sense. While the double sided tape allows the top hoop and fabric to be aligned perfectly, if the bottom hoop isn't just under the top hoop things won't be where they should be. =)
I have one of these with with about one dozen magnets.I have used it once.I did not have the patient for it,it is on the top of my wardrobe. If any one wants it, your are welcome to it,for the cost of the postage. Brother machine.
I, too, was so confused-still am on magnetic hoops. Bought 5 x 7 and then 8 x 8. I ask Dealer of Babylock for the Monster 4X's Magnetic and she said it was but nowhere on the box does it say 4 X's as in DIME pictures of the box--just says Monster but floating towels etc. It does still 'scoot around' a bit and yes, you have to hold that hoop if you have to change your bobbin or remove it before you are done embroidering. I, also, am disappointed that for the cost of those thoops it comes with 'paper' measure you stick on and hope you get it right. I did extensive online searching for this product and it comes down to the Letter and Number of the product that will fit whatever machine you're looking for. Again, one came from dealer of my machine and the other online Amazon during Prime deal or Black Friday deal.
You definitely want the "4X stronger" on the packaging for the Monster hoop for thicker items like quilting and towels. It holds things the best. I talked with Designs (you can call them and get your best clarifications there) over the phone. I Googled it or found it on the DIME website. I thought going directly to the source that created the Monster magnetic hoops would be my best source of information of which style is best and what to look for in packaging. I was told the "4X stronger" replaced the older models.
Thank you for your response--yes, I realize now that it should have said 4X's stronger now, but, emphasized my question to my dealer 'was this the new one that is 4 X's stronger and she said 'yes'. It was the only one she had and I think wanted to sell it and she knew I wanted it. No where did it say 4 X' strong but had the new picture on packaging. Hope someone else reads this and realizes to make sure it says 4 X's stronger right on the front picture. I bought 2 heavy magnets and use it at top and bottom to help it.
Thank you for the review i've been wanting a monster hoop! I have a Babylock Ellisiomo BLSO and wanted to know if I can use the the largest hoop because I'm getting into quilting and would like the convience. I suppose you could; however, I think I'd prefer to use a standard hoop for applique as moving the hoop in and out of the machine raises the risk of fabric slipping.
The board between the hoops is probably to keep the hoops from warping when not in use.

Just wanted to give you some feedback. The whole point of me watching a RUclips video is to actually see how something is done, and not to pretend and imagine what you did off camera before. This video wasn't helping me at all.
Thank you for the constructive criticism and feedback.
I thought it was a good review of the magnetic hoop. You talked about the difference between the hoops which answered several of my questions. I don't have a need to watch someone put a hoop on their machine and stitch. Very helpful for me. Thank you.
I usually feel the same Frieda but as I'm considering purchasing a new larger embroidery hoop I found this video extremely helpful ,
@@SewInspiredbyBonnie Thank you for your great video. You touched on all the questions I had about the Monster Hoop - I have a Bernina now and I have been waiting a long time to buy the magnetic hoops. Thanks to your video. I will! I just found your channel so I will be here alot!
Is there a magnetic hoop for the Brother PE770?
JacqueLyne Jones I’m not positive. I would contact your dealer or the folks at Sewing Machines Plus to see what they recommend or if one is available for your machine. 😁
