    Brent, for your steering wheel- I have used JBWeld! To repair cracks- it’s sandable and if your repainting your wheel you will never see the repair! And it’s strong!
    I did it to my ole 52 dodge pilot house pickup and my steering wheel still great!
    Love your work- love this project and can’t wait to watch you do the upholstery! 👍🏻

    • @Hoaxer51
      @Hoaxer51 2 месяца назад

      I’ve used bondo and had good luck with some sanding.
      Edit: The steering wheel I did was on a tractor that sat outside for years and the cracks were really wide, After seeing the steering wheel here with the narrow cracks, I’d get a grinder and widen the cracks so there’s more room for the bondo or JB Weld.

    You might cut the rear trim on the fast cut, 3/8 aluminum? Round the edges with a router, drill and tap it from the back.

    hi Brent...i've repaired a "too big of gap oops" before on pot metal by filling the gap with JB Weld. I'd put masking tape everywhere you don't want the JB Weld to touch on the top frame ends, the rubber behind etc. then bolt the top frame and rubber in place then bolt the bottom half frame and rubber in place and fill the gap with JB Weld. Just make sure you sand the surfaces clean where the JB Weld is going :) a cheap fix....then the next day take it off and sand it flush so it looks mmuuaaa! haha. Or make your own bezel from scratch like you said...peace and thanks again for your videos!

    Hello Brent: you are making forward progress. Almost never as fast as you want but it is better than going backwards. You may have tried this product already.
    I have repaired several steering wheels with it. For me Atacas seemed to work best. The bonding strength and working properties were very well matched to a steering wheel repair. They have a website so you can find product information easily. Whatever you did use seems to look good. Keep moving forward, and keep cool if you can.

    If I remember right, you used JB Weld for making cracks and shaping the trim, steering wheel cracks, just a lot of stuff. I seen it used on Kenworth trucks for dash repairs. Since they have sever roads and other bad road conditions.. just cost would stop a feller from using that instead of body puddy fixs

    Metal casting is a cool hobby / art / industrial process . When I was in art college - one of the professors did an afternoon demonstration of
    lost wax casting with bronze . This is the procedure where the artist designs a piece of jewelry or small statue or other small item . All of the
    fill tubes must be taken into account . The wax is then suspended in plaster and is allowed to harden . Once the plaster is cured , it is baked at
    a temp to melt the wax - then the voids are filled with bronze and cooled . Plaster is then broken off the casting and you have a completed piece !
