Ferret breeding part 1

- I was given my very first ferret as a young lad. It was a nicotine albino female called Whitey and, like a lot of ferrets of her generation, she was a real grafter. Possessing a gargantuan prey drive, she would work as if her life depended on it - unlike many of her modern-day counterparts, the majority of whom haven't a day's work in them, never mind a full season's graft.
To some, these comments may be controversial, but I think it is a realistic assessment built upon decades of rabbiting experience. I have had the pleasure to walk out with ferreters young and old alike the length and breadth of our country, which has resulted in this sobering conclusion.
And so, to protect and promote the future of ferreting we need to redress this weakness that has swept through many ferret lines and strains in recent decades. Only those who work their ferrets will know what a harsh environment these animals work in and the punishment they can receive in the "violent" lagomorphal world. Those handlers will understand how important breeding is.

Very interesting stuff simon !! Great vid
You have a lovely bunch of ferrets. Mine's 2year's old and he's both a pet and a working ferret :)
I seen a previous video of you saying why would U want to breed a pole cat back in to the working ferret but yet your holding a pole cat and breeding it 😂😂
I’m learning much from your very informative vids. Many thanks sir. Stay safe stay strong
Nice video mate nice to someone that’s talking sense just subscribed
Very true! There should be a working ferret gene pool syndicate to constantly improve the genetics of the modern day working ferret, i understand there used to be these in the 80s
Nice ferrets thanks for sharing just subscribed to your channel 👌
Good vid.
Good vid I have 2 working ferrets
I have a 2-3 year old ferret that believe it or not I coughs in a snere. I have been using him not for 1 year and he seems to get some rabbits. He is as tame as hell and a pleasure to work with however I never seem to come back with more than 5 rabbitts. I don't know if this is just the warrens I work with or if it's the ferret. I didn't know if you can tell how good a ferret is at rabbiting just by its everyday personality or behavior
bloody good video that wens the nxt 1 ?
howndid you breed them to be smaller ?
Hey, do you know any breeders down in Wiltshire? Nearest one I can find is in Wales :( I don't want to go through a breeder because I would prefer uneutered ferrets.
Keep watching Ryan...

If I could somehow find some decent patterdales also that would be great.
My eus are knobs but stunning I’m keeping eus full don’t cross
If only I could get a few over here in the USA, the pet trade has absolutely destroyed the integrity of the ferret as a tool for hunting. You won't find two good ones in twenty. Maybe a solid two out of one hundred. In the 80s there were still some decent and gritty little guys but no more. Sad sad day here indeed.
Key word PET trade your looking in the wrong place! Ask around with local farmers and pest control you'll find someone!
