As a Thai and American citizen, I have a Singapore bank that has branches all over Thailand and two branches in America (Los Angeles and New York City, where I opened the account), UOB. It’s convenient and has FDIC insurance of $250,000. Also Capital One debit cards carry no foreign transaction fee.

Great video spot on advice. Exactly what I have been doing here for 6+ years. Bangkok bank was too hard for me, they wanted so much information I simply couldn't provide them (because I didnt have access to that). Krungsi took 25 minutes and did it all with a passport and proof of address. Very simple process for me

    Hello Mr.Tony.
My advice - if you permit - to you is to use some of your savings in America to buy one or more condominiums in Thailand then put them to rent to maintain reasonable value of you saved money .. Banks in the west facing hard times which divers flew of money to Asia & Africa.
Investing in Silver " Bars " is good too to avoid cash value uncertainty .
    Best of luck.

Lot of condos especially the new one are empty and owners struggling selling or rent out. Poor isolation etc makes hard to rent out for long term. Short term rental like Airbn is illegal but people do it anyway.

@@anna_m59just a small clarification , Airbnb is NOT illegal in Thailand -you may rent out your unit on a MINIMUM 30 day stay ONLY as per Section 15 of the Hotel Act, B.E. 2547 (2004) which states that renting out a property on a weekly or daily basis without a hotel license is illegal. Simple as that. Don’t concern yourself with whether a Thai national can rent out short term or not.
Just focus on what is acceptable for foreigners and I promise you it can be extremely successful-

I always look forward to your videos and insights. I’m coming to CM in late October. It will be my 5th time there. There are hundreds of videos covering the coffee culture of Chiang Mai - wonderful coffee shops, coffee carts, coffee gardens, etc. I have interest in expanding that to how expats and travelers make coffee at home and in their hotel rooms. For health reasons I can only drink one cup of “real” coffee each day but that doesn’t satisfy my taste so I need two additional cups of decaffeinated coffee. I’ve had a bit of difficulty finding shops, vendors serving decaf - it doesn’t seem to be a popular drink. Occasionally, I’ve found a shop that makes a decaf Americano but these seem to be rare, on the expensive side, and not as tasty. I plan to make my decaf in the hotel room with a small portable pour over system. Will I be able to find decaf coffee sold by the kilo at the larger supermarkets? What types of creamers are available? I’m lactose intolerant so I user Carnation Coffee Creamer in the USA. Keep up the good work. 😀
