  • Hello friends and welcome to my channel, I am glad you found me.
In this video I wanted to talk about banking in Thailand as a foreigner living in the Kingdom. I share my thoughts on a few of the major banks here in Thailand and go over the process and documents needed to open a bank account in Thailand, I hope you find this video useful.

Just wondering how many times u said the word bank in that video...as it gives you a headache as it is researching these things... your information generally is very helpful but it could be condensed into a 3 minute video not 17.. hopefully you see this as constructive criticism.. thanks for your work

Nice informative Video Ben, ..... yes, that's true, if you go to a bank to open account where they not often see Farang, they got panic and say we can only open bank account if you have work permit ....., quite funny but that's the reality, while same Bank Branch you go to visit where more Farang population, they will take care easily

If we have to deposit 800k baht in a bank, which Thailand banks that would accept foreign retirees to open accounts have the best interest rates ?

If you are in country with a non immigrant visa then I am sure many of the banks would be happy to gain you as a customer. I would want to recommend the best as that will come down to your specific needs.
If you find a bank with a good interest rate out here please inform me.

Yesterday, I dropped by Kasikorn bank at a shopping mall in Bangkok. There was a lady staff standing near the entrance, so I asked her if I could open an account as a "tourist". She went in to ask another staff and came out with "no". The other problem that many others on Trustpilot have mentioned online is the OTP requirement and phone issues & closure of account without permission once you're outside Thailand for some time.

Can you please UPDATE your fake video. You can no longer open a bank account on a tourist visa. Nowhere in Thailand. "YOU SAW IT ON THE NETWORK" and "I HAVE HEARD PEOPLE CLAIM THIS FACT AS WELL."...What a rubbish...

Not rubbish at all. I opened one three months ago on a 30 day stamp. Had to try at a number of banks but I did it.

Hi l have a Bangkok savings account which works well when l am in Thailand, however l am in the UK now and trying to get information regarding transferring funds to my UK bank account before l return to Thailand. I do online banking but finding it very hard to get info on this transaction impossible to contact them they do swift but my bank in UK does not do this. I have looked into joining Dee Money when l am in Thailand which is something like wise. Do you have any knowledge regarding transferring funds from Bangkok bank to UK bank account

One thing I've read is that your deposits are only guaranteed up to one million baht PER INSTITUTION so if you need 800,000 baht in a bank for retirement you can max that out pretty quickly.

Your encouraging revelation that some banks (or at least some bank branches) allow tourists to open accounts contradicts your statement that all prospective account openers must show "proof of address" as proof that they'll be staying in Thailand long-term. Most tourists are unlikely to stay longer than 30 days. So, which is it? Do some banks waive the proof-of-address requirement for tourists (and maybe even non-tourists with non-immigrant visas), or not?
