Great to see a K12 being given the Project Nigel treatment. I run one alongside a 25, and for £400 2 years ago the K12 has been comfortable and reliable transport. Can’t really ask for much more.
I've had over 200 cars @ 41 I bought a 2006 1.6 SR 1.5 years ago and it's one of the most reliable and good handling cars I've ever had love the car ..... With fog lights white dials electric sunroof colour coded mirrors spoiler 16" alloys factory fitted body kit 280,000mkilometres and still going strong ..... It's not the car that's the problem here it's the F#4KING owner
@@ProjectNigel I've put a stainless steel exhaust polished ported K+N Iridium spark plugs high performance HT leads and remaped it's shit quick around 130bhp I rag it but service lt regularly and boy it takes the abuse no end
I Had 2005 from new it was never away from the deal for repairs just after the warranty was up there crank end oil Seal went after having it repaired it went again 12 months later so I traded in for a Vw Polo which swooped after 12 years wouldn’t touch another Nissan again or traded in for a Vauxhall Astra
Very tinney car but funky and practical. The issue is the none Nissan built engine that has timing chain stretch causing MIL to come on and eventually won’t start. The chain is a faff to change and needs an engine out so do what I did and change the engine 🤩
Most of us have been there, bought a right Lemon that’s going to cost more to put right than you could ever hope to sell it for. Not a huge fan of the K12’s looks, much prefer the K11 and the K10 before it. It’s those lights up front that give it that Frog Eye look that I dislike the most. The inside of that car reminds me of an old mate who’s car was almost as dirty as that one. Thanks for the funny review Paul, great as usual.👍
I drive a 2004 1.2 se and its a nippy little thing even though its 79hp from factory lol only downside for me is the clutch feel is horrid and light and I always stall does anyone else think the same?
Second car was a K12 Micra, had a K11 before and never put a foot wrong so I thought a K12 would be the next step up. How wrong I was day 1 of ownership I could not get into the boot, then it had a flat battery, then had several issues with the ECU, flashing Airbag Light, ignition barrel got sticky, sometimes the car would not fire up straight away, more ECU issues and then one day the starter motor packed up, but the AA managed to start it be poking about under the bonnet. Think I had the car a year and a half and I sold it for a Y Reg Focus. Drove a K12 recently that belonged to my wife's friend and it felt horrible to drive, my mate through has just bought a Japanese import Micra called the Impul so I may have another go in a K12 soon!
I do agree that Japanese designs are rubbish, but Micra K12 is a legendary car, the stability on the road, the engine, the speed, it's just amazing, i do 160km/h and it's stable as a BMW!!! the real terrible cars are the new Micras with the 3 cylinders engines .... yuck
My partner's 2003 1.2 petrol is still going strong. Only done 58k mls and beaten up a bit but still reliable. As said above the electrics and sensors are an issue but there are solutions.
Just got a ropey 08 1.2 K12 for too much money... I'm enjoying the crapness but also unironically I enjoy the gear change feel and the responsiveness of the engine compared with modern budget cars.
Why would it be terrible? I had the pleasure the use one, and it was a very reasonable little car perfectly serving all our mobility needs. I also liked its design, although I generally prefer large and elegant cars. It's cute.
Did you scrap it Paul? It was very neglected and filthy. Mr partner has a 2003 Micra and it's still going strong, been a great little car. It's taken some licks but nothing like that one. The electrics and sensors are an issue but the nissan engine and gearbox very reliable.
Name a better small cheap car than a k12? You can't, show me a small cheep n cheerful that can do 200k with min of servicing, OK had a few issues early doors but mostly they were top of pile in cheepncheerful sector.
Lots of sensors to go wrong, and once you know about the PS warning light steering failure.. see how much thats going to cost to put right.. I read somewhere Nissan basically say once the steering goes the car is good for scrap. Anyone buying one of these second hand is taking a big risk. I had a K11 for years I loved the car, I only wanted someting to run about in, nothing flash just four wheels on my wagon so to speak... That airbag warning light, is usually a ECU Module, Nissan main agents I read somewhere were quoting £700 to repair and that was in 2012. Second hand costing anything from £60 upwards and the chances are the second hand one you buy won't last so you will be replacing it Status Quo Again, and Again. I'm going to sell the one I have for spares or repair.. It has a ridiculous fault like perfect cold, soon as it's at Op temp messes about holding back flat as F*** rest it for say an hour its all good again.........Time to get rid. The majority of cars today are shite anyway all with hidden things to go wrong that would cost you an arm or a leg or even your sanity. And don't get me started on Electirc cars I'd rather buy a mobility scooter!
it's not a renault engine in k12 unless it is a diesel....but, yeah, I would agree that k12 in normal condition is still decent city car with good petrols and great gearboxes combined with very tight turning circle. the shittest thing in their interiors is their tendency to wear out in really ugly way....
Good build quality rofl.😂😂 lol door handle missing bonnet won't open air bag fault broken spring all parts that can be replaced. Lol that's some car there is less wrong with my 800 lol 😂😂
Don't talk shit. You don't look like a mechanic . You don't know what a good car is. . I've had 2 Micra's. X they have been excellent cars. . . What do you expect for 400.00 pounds. A rolls Royce . Get of the air

(bought with 80.000KM)
This car gives me great nightmares! The state of its interior causes me anxieties
I love driving Mumsy Shed's K12. Had it a few years now and the bugger just keeps on going. Proper go kart...But with no go.
petrol engines are nissan made or more specifically from the Aichi Kokuki division..problem is most of the electrics and ancillary bits are renault..

any idea why my k12 2003 petrol micra is turning off sometimes on cold weather or the rpm are getting below 900
No idea. I don't work on these cars. Sorry
@@ProjectNigel damn bro sad
It could be the timing chain. The '03 models had a lot of problems with them!
Funniest car review yet !!! Many thanks
Thank you. 🙂
That Micra looks like its delivered more take aways than you've eaten cold pasties. Had many a good curry delivered by a battered Micra.
It was owned by a woman. 😅

I gave it back to its owner who did scrap it
i see a tug o war between this and the shitreon.
This wins easily.
great and original review! would you say the fiat 500 is more reliable than the k12
Probably not, but I have never driven one
