well done demonstration. I haven't heard about this material before. I think that sometime in the future it will be helpful. right now I am just starting to re-learn working with metal. I had taken several classes in college in silver jewelry making but that was a millennium ago.

The trick of putting it inside a little plastic bag will help me with bezel setting stones on earclips. I had a heck of a time yesterday removing the jett sett from inside under the leaf in the earclip (for non-pierced ears) mechanism. Next time this will save me an hour.

Can I use a heating gun to release my peace ?

+trekranger I don't know. I haven't tried it. I would guess it would be too hot, and a hairdryer would be a better bet, but I really don't know.

A word of caution when choosing a strainer. Do NOT use one with plastic mesh! The Jett Sett gets stuck to it and it doesn't come off. A metal strainer is a must.

I only see Jett Basic for sale on your site, is Jett Sett no longer available?

Can food coloring or paint, or some kind of colorant be used to change the color while still maintaining the ability to become solid? ....and then can it again be reheated and reshaped as it can be done if used in the original color?

    Hello Mark
Do you think this compound can replace cerrobend to fill tube before bending as cerrobend is toxic with its lead and cadmium content?
    thks

I'm curious where that ring clamp can be found. I'm guessing it's a good one if Mark chose to pull it out for the video. I don't see it on the site, though.

Hi Mark, what are you heating that in? Also I see that the product available now says "Jett Basic. Is this what you sell now? thanks!

Hi Dharlee, Correct, the Basic #118221 is what we are now carrying, it takes a bit longer to cool down than the white version but I like it a lot. We are using an electric teapot to warm up the water. You can typically find these at general stores, and they are great for regulating the heat to the required temp. Having a thermometer handy really helps keeping the water temp just right www.riogrande.com/Search/thermometer
I hope this is of some help.

Yes, this is good for any type of fixturing so it may come in handy for holding stones while drilling.
