One thing that is known is that in certain aspects such as events and of course the most important characters in Vinland Saga are based on real historical people and events that occurred and things that this people done in those times. So 50% fiction/50% true historical events.

Yeah there’s a story about it from the Eddas (the texts that tell us just about everything we know about Vikings, most of which is corroborated through other historical accounts. They also include their mythology of Thor and Odin etc)
If I remember correctly, the story paints King Canute in a more arrogant light, suggesting he was so arrogant that he thought he was strong enough to stop the approaching waves with a wave of his hand, only for the waves to continue. That’s the end of the story in the Eddas, but it’s really cool to see how Yukimura incorporated that into this story. Rather than Canute being arrogant, it was a show of how weak he is against the will of God.

KARLSEFNI. The character of Thorfinn is loosely based upon a real-life explorer named Thorfinn Karlsefni, whose attempts to reach the New World using Leif Ericson's routes were recounted in many, many Scandinavian sagas. "Karlsefni" is not really a surname(last name), but an -- epithet that others gave to Thorfinn. English Translations of Karlsefni are “the makings of a man" to "auspicious boy" to "a real man." In any case, Karlsefni suggests that the people at the time viewed Thorfinn as as likely to achieve great things, hence Thorfinn Karlsefni.
Scandanavian last names started with father's first name and "son" or "dotter" at the end of it. So Thorfinn's real, official, certified name is Thorfinn Thorsson. Example: The full name of John’s son, Adam, would be Adam Johnsson, etc, et cetera.

This is the only reaction i have seen that makes fun of how thorfinn looks after being punched a 100 times by a Drott the Bear slayer. But for the middle-part insult, going back to season 1, every time thorfinn insults people even as a kid its always about their hair. He even did it to Thorkell, which is funny because as much as he's grown, in other ways he's still 6.

I think Einar’s anger is justifiable. From seeing his mother and sister murdered, his home/village being plundered and ravaged, then getting beaten and enslaved, then he finds some form of peace and motivation with camaraderie he finds on the farm, only for one them to be taken away in very cruel way. Then he finds out the war is happening just to stroke egos and gain more power. I think if most people were in Einar’s situation, they would be very angry and bitter too.

    A masterpiece unleashed
What an amazing episode. Easily one of the best in this season and maybe the second best in the whole show. It has a really intense and powerful confrontation between Thorfinn and Canute.
The characters are so well-written, especially Thorfinn, who is fighting his own inner battles and taking responsibility for his past mistakes. The relationship between Thorfinn and Canute is really interesting because they have different ways of thinking and living.
The visuals in this episode are really great, with beautiful drawing and attention to detail in the characters designs. The voice acting and music are also on point and add a lot to the scenes. Its not just Thorfinn who is amazing in this episode, but also Canute and Einar. They all have fantastic moments. And the background music is just peak!
