Great video! We started backpacking with our daughter 11 years ago and back then we couldn't find any resources on backpacking with a baby, so the hardest thing for us was everyone telling us we were crazy. Sleep was probably the second hardest - she just wanted to party all night, especially since there was a full moon!

@@marthamontague3294 :-) I'm glad you got to prove the people who said you were crazy wrong - though people still think hiking families are crazy often. I hope she sleeps better now she is older (this is my hope with our little guy)

Thanks for this video. My husband and I are hoping to introduce our seven month old son to backpacking soon, but I have such anxiety about it- the sleeping, especially! This video was quite encouraging. Looking forward to seeing more from you! :)

So glad you found it encouraging. I hope you have a great time. And remember, if it is hard the first time, try again, it gets better and better. Good luck

Oh my gosh. Hands down the most useful video on this topic I’ve ever seen. Thanks heaps!
Also very relatable about finding it hard having your baby cry when there’s other folks around!

I’m a much more avid hiker then my wife, and I hope this video inspires her to hike with our baby once he is born.

I hope so too. It feels so wonderful to share your love for the outdoors with a little one. Start small and good luck

Thank you Danielle for a helpful video! My son just turned one year old and I've been thinking about hiking in summer. We done some hikes when he was 4-6 months old, but haven't slept together in a tent yet. Your attitude is inspiring, now I'm more earer to try!)

if youre carrying the nappies anyway, why not use cloth so you can clean it off by the watersource that you say to make sure you camp close to. Let them dry and it will be less waste and less weight.

I really wanted to be a cloth nappy mum but we never had much success with cloth nappies, bad nappy rash and had to change them so much more often that disposable.

Ty for great video! I'm worried my toddlers don't get enough time to play/freely move around when I take them on a backpacking adventure. Any tips?

What backpacking tent do you use for the growing family? I’ve had an ultralight tent for a long time, but it’s a two person and I don’t think it would be wide enough for sleeping with baby.

Hey Rhetta. We have a 4 person Marmot Tungsten. It’s really great and lots if room for changing nappies ect. But there are lighter ones out there I think

Hi, just watched this and love seeing a fellow Aussie ❤️. Quick question, I'm 20wks pregnant, taking our 2 1/2 yr old on our first family hike (seasoned campers). Any suggestions on how to wear your pack to accommodate a baby bump?

Go you! That’s awesome hiking 20 weeks pregnant and with a toddler.
I wore the hip belt lower when pregnant and not too tight, more weight on the shoulders but couldn’t be helped. Good luck

We tried using the big mo last night with our child and he hated the the sound That the bag was making. He also didn’t like going into the tent. We weren’t able to settle him and we had to abandon our first car, camping trip and go home.
    Do you have any tips?
We even had our pack and play and slumber pod set up inside the tent, so it was completely dark.
