Thank you for this tutorial. I bought the pattern while I was on a girls trip in Lancaster PA with my cousins this autumn. I knew it was going to be for my mom for Christmas. I was just about ready to begin cutting my fabric and thought I would just see if there was a tutorial out there for it. I am much better with a visual reference. I appreciate the video. I have my pieces all cut out and will be assembling it this week. Cannot wait to see how it turns out.
The tutorial was great. I have been sewing for at least 60 years and was really struggling with the printed instructions that came with the kit especially since not all the pattern pieces were labeled. The video made things perfectly clear. I made the crossbag and love it. Just the perfect size for a petite lady like me !!!!
Thank you for your great directions Sally. You so easy to understand, & keep up with. The materials are fun to work with too. Cork material is not that hard on your needle, & machine. Thanks again, I look forward to seeing you again.
Thank you so much for this. Watched b4 I'm making. Glad I did, as I would have used even lighter weight interfacing. So glad I picked this pattern, great job, thank you
Another great tutorial. I love your teaching style. You explain each step so well and make the sewing process very easy. I previously watched your tutorial for the MIA bag and made one for myself. I love it and now I cannot wait to make the Charade Bag. I love the big size of the bag and the styling is just lovely. Thanks!! Today I was able to make this bag and I am so happy with it. I love the look and the size is big so I can get so much in it. Your tutorial is just great. So clear and concise so I felt very confident while making it. I was referring back to the video while I was assembling the bag and it made the process go so smooth. I previously made your MIA bag which I also love. I am looking forward to the next one. Thanks.
You are a great instructor and designer. One suggestion for future tutorials: try to use a fabric that contrasts with the interfacing so it's easier to see the difference on the video.
Jessica ~ Thank you so much for this tutorial. So concise and easy to follow. I am a visual learner and this tutorial was great! I wonder -- could the pocket pieces be reinforced, too, with a lightweight interfacing? I'm not a fan of thin pockets as I tend to put heavier items on the pocket. What do you think? I LOVE this bag!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but where did you use cork fabric? You mentioned it I think 2x in relation to the faux leather strap but I didn't see it in the pattern cutting or construction of the bag.
She didn't use cork in the sample she was sewing, but you can use either faux leather or cork for the accent fabric. There are 3 kits available and one of them uses cork for the accent. So she mentions both so it makes sense for all the kits.
Beautiful! I want to learn how to make a bag and this looks like a great place to start. Onthe video the thread looks thick (probably necessary due to the stress bags so through). Was this heavy-duty thread like button and carpet thread?
Love this bag and your great tutorial! I’ve not sewn with foam so I’m wondering if it slides easily across the sewing machine as your stitching, or there is a recommendation for something to help slide easily?? Thanks
You don't show how to use the pattern templates included in the pattern. It wiuld have been very helpful. I am having difficulty with the main panel pattern attaching with the bottom one.
The order was estimated to arrive in the middle of September but we still have not received the order with the patterns yet. Put your email on the green dot and you will receive an email once the pattern is received. www.missouriquiltco.com/products/charade-purse-pattern
There are multiple ways to do things in sewing just as there are in cooking .Once you see something done , you can change a pattern to suit yourself. I do the same with recipes. If you are a seasoned sewer or cook, you can change to suit your taste. There are people watching this video that may have limited experience making bags and this may be an easy way for them . A lovely basic pattern that has multiple possibilities.
You have some sort of a special machine that will sew over all that thick leather. Why don't you tell about the requirements for special equipment to sew these things? You are making it look like just anyone can sew heavy materials. We (I) can't even sew leather by hand!
You do not need a special machine to sew these bags. It is Faux leather. We suggest using a titanium needle. Here is the first video in the series. There is more information here on what type of needle and supplies are used. www.missouriquiltco.com/blogs/fridays-with-jenny/sallie-tomato-mia-bag?Social& ruclips.net/video/CyWpLza2iCU/видео.html
I find that some of the old Singer sewing machines are stronger than present day sewing machines. I have a Singer 201 and it is amazing! I bought it for $100 on craigslist.
I am curious as to why you did not turn this bag right side out thru an opening in the bottom of the lining. There is a lot of bag including the foam and the faux leather to pull thru the open inside pocket. I have made many bags and use either a side opening in the lining or an opening in the lining bottoms, but never thru a pocket . Very interesting .

A really great lesson!
Very nice bag. The video was great extremely informative 👏
Thank you great instruction 🥰👍
Great tutorial!! Thanks for all your tips!! I can’t wait to make one of these bags!
It is quite a bulky material, what needle number you are using please?
I use a Schmetz 12 universal. Sometimes for top stitching I will use a topstitching needle

I’m buying that pattern and fabric
Just ordered the kit! So excited ! Thank youuuu!

I use the Bosal fashion fuse. It works well for me.
This was awesome

Is the kit pre-cut?
Does anyone know the make/name of the blue fabric on the outside of the bag? It's so cute! would love to be able to make other items to match the bag
It's Rifle Paper Co Menagerie and comes in both canvas and quilting cotton weights
@@maureenmoorescheevel8360 Thank you so much!!!!!
she sells it on her website

I relieve some of the pressure on my presser foot with my machine. Sometimes I use a bit longer stitch.
will this pattern work ok with faux leather or cork?
or water proof/resistant canvas

When will this pattern be back in stock?

I like so much good luck
Are the zippers nylon or plastic?
Nylon
Nylon from Sallie tomato-easy to cut and sew over.
No pattern
You made that inside pocket installation way harder than it needed to be. Watch some Don Kim videos. The purse is cute as can be.

I’ve already “gone” and done it, not “went” and done it.
