This is awesome Scott ive always wanted to learn this song!! my goal is to learn every Skynyrd song by Ronnie and the guys b4 i leave this walk of life!!! Been my favorite band since i was a kid!!! these guys was took from us way too early for what they had to give us!!! ive got a 17 yr old and 15 yr old both boys and im passing these wonderful songs on to them i wana keep Skynyrd alive thru them as we do playing these classics!!! thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with us on here and keep on rocking those southern tunes!!! Fly on Freebirds!!!! you will prob be hearing more from me as i subscribed to your channel as i hope you do mine!!!! thanks again my Freebird brother!!!!🦅🎸🦅
Ed King, not only write the music, (guitar work), but play it over and over as smooth as he did over the years. its really something. i love it all. you tube makes life great. THANK YOU SCOTT RAINES. YOU GOT IT !
Wow man thank you so much nobody's doing the under rated Skynyrd stuff I appreciate it bro I will most definitely be incorporating this one into our setlist for sure. You da man Scott thanks again.
I think Scott just became my favorite YT contributor. Have always loved Ed, and Scott seems to have inherited his touch, and he can actually sing without auto-tune. That's a rare thing in this day and age. You never know, ol Charlie may be Right, the South gonna do it again
Since the late 70's, when I started playing as a kid, I learned and played a LOT of Skynyrd songs. Never learned this one - until now. Thank you, brother! 😎🎸👍
@@seraines It's an honor, man. Artimus is a good guy. I know he chooses quality people to work with. I subscribed and will be using more of the tutorials to learn stuff I haven't before. A new SG (a white Epiphone Muse) is joining the other SGs in my arsenal in the next day or two. Will definitely have to do some Skynyrd with it!
Man you are awesome & one of the best in my book. You have helped me. To learn how to play railroad song. I was in living in Kent wood Louisiana. On oct. 20 of 77. The song writeing of Ronnie van Zant . He was a one of a kind songwriter. I was born in 1961 I was 16 in 1977. I was heartbroken. I fell in love with Gary & Allen. & the band. They were the best. & still are in my book. The unforgettable Best Band ever. A.T.B. & Ed king. I watched where you played with ed king. What a good man. You are. & I look up to you. & the band. I listen to you. On RUclips. & have learned a lot from you & the A.T.B. Thanks for sharing your good rips. From the goodness of your guitar lessons. I don’t have much. But I really like your guitar playing skills & again you are the best. Hope & prayers to you & the Band. Live forever. Scott rains.
Scott, thanks for the video, this is a great song, too bad they never played it on the Radio, according to classic rock radio, Skynyrd only did 4 songs , what a shame, Rock on Brother, Cousin Figel
when you guys do that live with the APB do you know offhand what key harmonica the player uses when you do that or do they not use the harmonica with it? sounds like an A of me but I wasn't too sure
Jerry does slide guitar for those fills, so no harmonica. I’m not sure which it would be. I saw a guy in Nashville play 3 songs in 3 different keys and he used the same (small) harp and killed it. He was like John Popper good. Just mind blowing.
So nice to have these videos! Quick question.. Isn't there a bit of a rhythm change once the drums kick in our is that an illusion caused by the particular rhythm of the drums?
Wow - another of my favorites . Do you know Randy Heron ? I knew him at Southern Railroad . I lost touch with him and would like to find him again . If you know him - ask him to post on my channel and I will be able to connect through that . I know You Ain't the One, but I bet you are Double Trouble - you know when a black cat cuts your trail - LORD they come in pairs of two ... Were you a Simple Man before Tuesday left ? You probably have a lot of Things Goin' On now that you are a Free Bird . Take care of that Mississippi Kid and stay away from the Poison Whiskey . If you can, please Gimme Three Steps for learning how to resist the temptations of going to the Jug and meeting up with Linda Lu . The Little Brown Jug was a bar, not far from the high school . Swamp Music - LYNYRD SKYNYRD . Hey - it's a simple song as far as lyrics but the band churns out the rhythm, bass and side riffs so busy and non-stop that it is very hard to concentrate on any part because there is so much goodness going on from each member . I promise if you listen to this song on headphones you will want to play it over and over at least 100 times . It is my favorite song of all time : The reason why I like this song so much is that every member of the band is steadily slamming out the jam during the entire song . I can taste strawberry, peach, apple, raspberry, grape, cinnamon, cherry, banana, pecan, watermelon, avocado, persimmon, and fried bream . ( with salt and black pepper ) I would very much like a ' Second Helping ' ( Their Second Album 1974 ) I just listened to it 5 times after making this comment . Make that 6 times . I went to the same high school they went to - 10 years after them . Robert E. Lee High School They named the band after their gym teacher who kept bugging them about their hair . ( Leonard Skinner ) I have about 8 thousand mp3 files of about 40 rock groups from the 70 ' s . That is the only song I play - over and over and over - sometimes more than 10 times in a row . In 1975 when I was in 12th grade - we skipped school and stayed on the bus . The bus driver - an older black man, Mr. McKenzie ( we thought of him as similar to Curtis Loew ) took us to his house and we installed an old 8 track tape player and speakers on the bus . Of course the first tape to play was Pronounced . ( don't tell anyone - but - he gave us a beer ) Another of my favorites of theirs is ' Railroad Song ' and ' Made In The Shade ' . I worked at the railroad in ' 78 and worked with an engineer named Randy Heron - he was friends will everyone in the band and their families . I got to meet Gene Odom ( Security and body guard for the band - survived the crash ) one evening at The Jug . Gene Odom - on working with Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones and Plane Crash/ HOWGO ruclips.net/video/kFTLK0RP7DE/видео.html Another time, he introduced me to the singer of the Allen Collins band - ( Jimmy Dougherty ) Which reminds me of another of my favorites of his : Chapter One ruclips.net/video/dayMpivPlCk/видео.html I have seen lyrics that show - ' sounds like ol' Son House singing the blues ... I think he says - sounds like oh some how singing the blues - when the hound dogs start howling - it sounds like they are singing the blues If you ever heard a hound dog howl - is sounds sad and lonely
just put it on top of the somewhere on the headstock here guitar if you got one of those trigger ones from Keyser.. or keep it in your guitar case all the time when you're done playing when you put the guitar away sticking in one of those little cubbyholes where you can put like your pics and shit like that.
chromeplatedcowboy biggus dickus It is physically impossible to get that voicing without a capo. Here you go. See the video. And Ed’s comment below. We also jammed on it together. ruclips.net/video/Pk-Y3Ks2u_M/видео.html

Thank you!
Capo. Thanks for this, I've struggled with this forever, the capo being the missing link!
Love your tuts
Great job...sounds just like. It's not hard once you get it.
How is it I'm just seeing this lesson. Dang glad I found it.
The note you strike at the 1:41 mark reminds my of the beginning note of the LS song, "Cheatin" Woman" from the same album.
Right on Fabulous job thank you 👍

So nice to have these videos! Quick question.. Isn't there a bit of a rhythm change once the drums kick in our is that an illusion caused by the particular rhythm of the drums?
It’s a bit of trickery due to where the 1 falls when the hi-hat starts. Good ear! 👌🏼
👍
