The one positive thing I can say so far about Tiana’s version is I’m SO HAPPY they went with good animatronics instead of those HORRID projected face ones.
It’s one of their least profitable and popular princesses you’ll never see a little girl dressed as Tiana. And Spash Mountain absorbed crowds like a sponge. What are they going to do when people skip this or don’t come because the laughing place is gone?
I loved the music from Splash. Irreplaceable imho. This video reminded me of just how much they had let Splash get rundown. I too wish they had just retold the entire movie.
I agree! I know replaying the movie isn't popular for ride creation anymore, but it's a good story and a good ride. That comp would have really worked and it's a missed opportunity .
The song Friends on the other side would have been perfect for the final lift hill "are you ready" would have been a great lead into the drop.. just saying.
Disney (and more so Tiana) never had a chance with this ride. It was replacing nostalgia. It was replacing an Iconic Disney Mountain. It was replacing sing a long songs that are decades old. It was replacing a ride with wonderful storytelling. And it was replacing a ride that we enjoyed with our parents when we were kids, and our kids now that we are parents. Tiana was forced to fit a Louisiana Bayou into a mountain ride layout. And now her ride is forever entrapped in controversy.
Maybe I’m dumb but at least with Splash Mountain I understood the story… we were getting thrown into the briar patch. With TBA I dont’ get it. What is the point of us getting small and then getting big again?
The story of tiana’s is that tiana wants to find music artists for mardi gras (or however its spelled) and she and louis find musical critters which she brings to her mardi gras festival at the end of the ride
I have a theory on the ‘tiny’ part. I think the imagineers had a section of the ride with a very low ceiling they couldn’t change and someone came up with this idea. It’s fits with the original movie plot (leads turned into tiny 🐸). Not to mention it’s an effect used in other classic Disney rides like Adventure Thru Innerspace and Body Wars.
I will always have great memories of Splash Mountain but to be honest one looks as good as the other. Pirates of the Caribbean "Disneyland" will always be the best. Thanks to Disneyland Beat for their time, work and posting.
They should have used pocahontas as the new theme ride. Log flumes are similar to her canoe. There is a scene where she dives off from the waterfall in the movie. It could be used for the big drop
I’m gonna echo with somebody else said, splash mountain forever, Bayou never and I miss the cute little animals that sing the happy happy song when you go to the drop off and you know what song I’m talking about the only reason I’m not saying the name of it here is because RUclips will probably kick my butt.
