Funny story, when I was 16, back in 96, my friends and I flew out to Anaheim to see WrestleMania. Of course we went to Disneyland acting like goonies. While on Splash Mountain, right before the drop, my friend jumps out of the log, and starts dancing with the animatronic robots. Before he knew it the log was going over the ledge and he got left up there. We were scared he was going to get kicked out, but then sure enough, the next log in line came floating up and he was sitting in the back acting it was his family. We didn't get kicked out, and I love telling that story anytime someone mentions this ride.
They have cameras up there so don't know how he got away with it. After enough craziness like this, a few years ago, they used to have someone stationed at the top of the lift hill just so no one would do anything crazy (like hold up props for the photo.)
As much as I’d love to agree with your comment, having moved from Florida and now living in San Antonio which apparently has one of if not the best Six Flags park the only thing I’ll say is that I really miss the Florida parks.

100% agree. I guarantee if Disney actually did this, the park would be packed. Obviously, this won't happen and Disney will just call us the R word for rejecting it.
This ride does not look horrible however it does NOT live up to Splash Mtn. Tiana deserves a ride, well Dr Faucilier deserves a ride. It’s ridiculous that this doesn’t have Faucilier in it.
Ditto to that. The animatronics themselves are quite nice. But how they are used? Not so much. What it should have been all along was a restaurant, complete with a Chuck-E-Cheese style animatronic band, with Tiana herself doing some of the singing.
Guests: "Wait. Didn't you just make a boring version of Splash Mountain?" Disney: "No. We made it better by making it less problematic!" Guests: "But, we liked Splash Mountain better." Disney: "Then you're all (redacted)s." *_Note: (redacted) brought to you by YT. Worship your censor overlords._*
I was definitely not a fan of redoing splash mountain but I do not think this is a more boring version, after watching the ride through and expecting it to be bad considering all the previous comments I was actually kind of thought it was pretty good. Especially apart where they where you were shrunk down to the frog size. I think it was probably more immersive than splash mountain was especially considering that most people under the age of 50 do not even know the story of song of the South. I do miss splash mountain and was glad I got to ride it before they shut it down but I don't think this is any worse and actually maybe a little bit better. I'm glad to see they didn't use the projection face on Tiana
@@jimeagle1155 I very much agree with you. I was so upset about it closing but this doesn’t look too bad. Score for me would be 7/10. I love Princess and the Frog AND Song of the South both.
Honestly it feels and looks like an insincere replacement of Splash Mountain, this would've been a whole lot better if it was a new ride BUILT SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE PARK because we all know how phony, disingenuous and pretentious Disney under Bob Iger is and this just embodies his pompous out-of-touch delusions of grandeur and anti-consumer attitude
Did it not ever occur to these lazy idiots to clean and repair the Splash Mountain ride instead of changing it after listening to a bunch of crybabies from Black Lives Matter?
That's because it is insincere. Some people on Twitter used the "knee incident" to get all kinds of popular things cancelled and this was one of many victims. They literally told Disney to make it based on The Princess and the Frog and they obeyed to keep their ESG satisfactory.
From a storytelling perspective this has a very kiddie show feel. I half expected someone to pop out and say "Olá!, I'm Dorra. We need you help to form our animal band!"
I thought the exact same thing too. When I was watching it this morning, I was like, this honestly seems like something I would watch on Disney Junior, or Playhouse Disney. It definitely gave a "toddler" ride feel.
Honestly, your Dora joke is a better idea for the ride than what they did. That sounds a lot more fun than what I just saw. And I don’t even like Dora, but I can hear the voice and see the energy that this just doesn’t have.
I was thinking the same thing . . . But worse as it’s the bland silliness Disney thinks toddlers want. But a dimwit at Disney has said they made it this way because little girls don’t like scary thrills. . . . Or adventure apparently. Which is wrong. Again, their very low opinion of the people they think they’re catering to.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought it was going to be like. Completely underwhelming. With no real conflict or villain, this couldn't really work.
This would've been a fine addiction to the park. But they didn’t have to tear down Splash Mountain to build it. It just leaves a sour taste in people's mouths.
I'm glad that Disney is doing everything it can to make Universal the better option. Reach for adequate, that way you can be somewhat financially viable.
I don’t get the logic behind the exclusion of Dr Facilier from the ride. Just because he dies in the movie doesn’t mean that he couldn’t have returned as a spirit. Lord Farquaad died in Shrek but returned as a ghost in the Shrek ride. Disney could have done something similar here.
It was being developed during the Black Rights Movement out-roar so I guess the group they hired to develop it didn't want any negativity but only positivity. And now we're stuck with Care Bears on Ice for eternity. "Wow, isn't everyone great and talented? Now get to the party!"
All they had to do was make it ride where you get pulled into the Otherside and this ride is you trying to escape. That would’ve been scary and they could’ve had a cool drop where you escape. Then you didn’t have a mountain and waterfall in the bayou
I think Disney KNOWS this ride isn't good and it's going to disappoint. Which is why they're promoting the crap or of it on their marketing channels right now. Gotta convince the sheeple masses is actually good, right?
It is not dead. It still lives as seen in Tokyo. Besides the more bad receptions that the racist retheme gets as it already did, it may get shut down sooner or later, just like what happened to the Starcruiser hotel.

"I wish they'd just based it on the movie." It's weird. Disney wants to make these movies/shows based on their existing attractions, and create new park attractions to reflect their movies/shows, but continue to make attractions and movies/shows that don't resemble the original product that people love. It just barely resembles it. Why would anyone want a tour of a garden with jazz music in the bg with a P&tF veneer?
@@mjbull5156 They wouldn't have to. They could have treated it more like a "sequel" story. Like Dr Facilier wants revenge and has come back from The Other Side or is reaching out from there and wants to use you, the passenger, to help him escape and accomplish this for a "great reward". Or maybe he transforms you into a frog (sitting on a log). Or maybe only Naveen turned back into a frog temporarily. And Tiana asks you to help her instead and promises to help you escape from Facilier. Facilier could be upset that you betrayed him later and Mama Odie helps you make a quick escape (final ride plunge) to escape Facilier's power. If they didn't want Tiana and Naveen to be frogs, there were ways around it while still feeling like the original. It would have been far closer to living the movie than what the ride currently is.
Song of the south should be a reminder that western civilization ended slavery for the entire world, aside from the millions of black on black slaves still in africa today.
Well taxpayers are the new slaves. We're literally forced to pay income tax to a government that doesn't represent us at all and they in turn treat us like trash.
Like they could have set up and awesome sequel of Dr. Facilier trying to comeback from the shadow realm and have his creepy shadow following you throughout the ride. And then had a cool thing for the big drop like trying to escape his friends from the other side. That would be an awesome sequel movie and work so cool for the ride. But yeah, a lot of this I don’t mind too much, I don’t like Avatar so all the Navi references are lost on me, but it doesn’t seem kind of meh? Like Splash Mountain had a story and this I kept forgetting why we were there. Looking for ingredients, oh right right, totally forgot.
The regular Midas Touch actually works perfectly for Iger, his single minded pursuit of profit came at the expense of the essentials. Just as King Midas belatedly realized his golden touch would make his own food and drink inedible and undrinkable, Bob Iger neglected to realize what actually appealed to Disney fans, causing the company’s current downward spiral.
I will never waiver from my opinion that they should have left splash mountain alone and built Tiana her own new ride. It's so lazy to re-skin a ride, especially one that was much beloved and popular as is. The first time I ever rode Splash(07) I wasn't at all sad it wasn't from an IP of my time growing up(Disney Renaissance). I just got to learn about the new characters(to me) of the Briar Patch. I also loved the "scary" element of the story that culminates in the big drop. They sanitized it completely. Kids don't need to be patronized. That's what I loved about the Renaissance as a kid, the darker movie themes. My favourite movie from Disney is Hunchback.
There was never a plan to make a Tiana ride. This was literally concocted by Twitter lunatics who used the knee incident as a means to get something popular cancelled. The same fringe kept saying it was problematic and should be made a Princess and the Frog ride. Disney is so pathetic they literally did just that!
They did it because people said 1) Splash Mountain is racist, and 2) change it to "The Princess and the Frog" to bring a Black character into an attraction for once. It was deliberately done to get rid of Splash Mountain as if an attraction starring a bear, fox, and rabbit was mean-spirited somehow.
Splash Mountain had a great theme to it. I remember being in awe with all great animatronics. I don’t hate the Princess and the Frog but they should have made a different ride.
It looks better than I expected! But the Tiana’s food “employee owned” banner feels so weird given the Disney corporation’s history of union busting. This ride celebrating a minority/employee-owned company feels performative.
No joke, and with Epic Universe opening soon, Universal is going to obliterate Disney in Florida. This is the best they can pull off? Looking forward to your video trips to Epic!
At least the original Journey has the excuse of Kodak ending it's sponsorship and having maintenance issues, but this abomination was based on a fringe of Twitter users crying and maintaining a high ESG score for Blackrock.
I like The Princess and the Frog, but Disney destroyed the beloved Splash Mountain. They should NOT act like Song of the South never existed. Buy copies of Song of the South in droves, everybody, whether it be Amazon or eBay.
Imagine hearing Dr Facilier and the ghouls ominously sing, “Are you ready?” As you take the plunge? Such a wasted opportunity for a truly mesmerizing experience.
Plus we could have had the tunnel before the drop decorated with blacklight voodoo masks and dolls. The hanging bottles don’t even have lights in them!
Of course they destroyed Splash Mountain. It was a ride based on stories from African American folklore, which means it was racist in the eyes of the woke. So in turn they now based the ride on a movie based on a Russian fairy tale, but blackwashed so they can still pander to black people.
Um no, the african stories were used in a movie about an enslaved black man who was happy to be enslaved. Thats one of the main issues, how did you butcher all of this?
Biggest issue here, even more so than the empty space: There's no TENSION. And that's bad news for a thrill ride. Original splash the entire ride was building up to the last drop, to the point that almost the last third of the ride could be described as scary. Here, its the same low-stakes scenario the entire time, which makes the last drop less foreboding, and makes the following celebration scene much less cathartic. They NEEDED Facilier for the post second-drop area. Put him in spirit form using the last of his power, whatever. But putting him in, darkening the mood, finishing with a climb to the final drop to a refrain of "Friends in the other Side"...just that ONE addition could have done so much. I've been saying since they announced that not including Facilier was dropping the ball.
If splash mountain was racist, so was the whole structure of the ride. How could Disney let the confederate splash mountain building with all the racist slavery history still stand. They should have destroyed the entire structure and started from scratch, because all I see is racist rocks
Sorry, most of those aren’t animatronics. They’re animated figures that barely bop around, like the possum show in “A Goofy Movie.” Those are even more noticeable next to the impressive animatronics of Tiana and Louis.
It's so bizarre how at the same time universal figure it out that it's lame to just keep using screens for all the rides, Disney decides to start using screens for all their rides
The ride doesn't tell any story, it's all just "Look there is a river in a swamp with a band of animals making some New Orleans style Music". In this configuration it could also go as an Alice in Wonderland ride by changing some animatronics and the music. It looks fine but there is nothing special or exciting about.
They managed to disrespect both the original and the movie the revamp is based on. Wtf is the point of this shit? It's not even tied into the plot of the movie or anything. And now you gotta have a reservation to ride it? As if I needed more reason to go to any other park in fl besides disney
The animatronics are great, but I wish they weren't used for this. It's very criminal because the actual technology for it is so cool, but the ride just doesn't live up to its name from the looks of it.
Dr. Facilier was the only good thing in the otherwise pretty mediocre film that was "Princess and the Frog". And they don't even put him in the ride. Typical of The Bob Iger Company. I can't name you ONE great villain that Disney has produced since Iger took over. Dr. Facilier was the last one and that was mostly because of John Lasseter being involved with the film.
I agree. The fact they changed all the human characters into frogs and made us follow a bunch of amphibians around for the movie made it boring. But Facilier and his villain song were the only redeeming parts. Now we get an even worse attraction without the one good part. I'm liberal but this nonsense is grating because we lost a perfect attraction because of it.
The other fallacy used is "it's the same ride, it's just nostalgia you're seeing". When you call them out on the nostalgia fallacy, they usually just call you the R word for liking an R ride.
If a park can do whatever it wants without criticism, or else you're not a Disney fan, they sure can half-ass everything and up-charge everything. Good thing there are delusional fanatics who think the best way to support a company is to let them destroy everything without complaint.
Unfortunately I ll never go back to Disneyland it's too expensive. But I'd love to hear people go on this ride and just calmly ( not obnoxiously) sing zippity doo da. If they do nothing hateful, and get kicked off the ride, theres an obvious message.
As someone who never rode Splash Mountain (or any of the thrill rides because of my handicap disability), this really looks like a huge step back from Splash Mountain. Yeah, the lighting & animatronics look great & it's going to look nice at night, but that's about it. Music is vastly inferior to SM's, some areas do feel like they need an animatronic, & I can already see the screens (& animatronics) break a lot; which will make the ride even more hollow. Also, the warning before the drop really gives me vibes of a doctor telling a kid that they're getting a shot or blood work & the drop's the stabbing part.
This looks suspiciously about as exciting as some of those opening day Epcot educational rides. Living with the Land has better pacing and dialog. Ellen’s Energy Adventure had more thrills and excitement.
Would have been cool to keep splash mountain and have the princess and the frog characters thrown in, kinda like it’s a small world with the disney characters. Having brer rabbit and tiana sing zip a dee doo dah would have been amazing!
So my question is when did they abandon the storyline about looking for ingredients so Tiana could cater the big festival? Now they're looking for members for an animal band? This whole thing was a mess from the start.
Whats also sad is the whole point of splash mountain was that eisner wanted something edgy for the teens to ride, now its just a plain boring kiddy ride resulting in another loss for the teens, imo they needed to overhaul space mountain, the track is so shakey it desperately needs an update.
The Gran Fiesta Tour with Donald Duck is more exciting and with a better soundtrack than this. . . this. . . this. . . Thing. That's the best description I have of this it's a "thing".
Um no lol. Gran fiesta is ALL SCREENS and 3 animatronics. Tiana has way more going on. Quit being a grumpy Disney adult. It’s a kids ride. It’s not for you.
At 5:35 it's weird how none of the musical bear's eyes move. I'll never forget my memories of Splash Mountain. Maybe someday I'll visit Disney Tokyo to ride it one last time.
it feels alittle off. Like I give it a "meh" pass but Idk about the while ride journey of this, it's like they wanted to do a different telling, and while it's been so long since I've stepped into Disneyland by CA, most area's and rides usually keep a familiar standard of what they're based on or just have fun with it. To me, I never saw anything wrong with Splash Mountain, and it just feels very alienating to remove it and replace it with something else after how long it has been there.
Because of how short and skinny I was, almost 20 years ago, the only time I rode Splash Mountain, that tension build up to the drop terrified me. Thought I was gonna slip out of the log and die. But afterward, I realized how fun it was and wanted to go again, but the line grew too long.
nothing of this is deserving to replace Splash Mountain, they either could've turned it into a separate small dark ride since it didn't have much material to fill up the space from this at least or put the animatronics in New Orleans with only the Celebration sign at the entrance of it and theme aspects of it instead, shame, but not surprising
I didn't even think about this until you basically brought it up, but ya, Splash Mountain was in Critter Country, not New Orleans Square! Splash fit the theme of that land! It's like the Imagineers of the 70's, 80's, 90's knew the assignment and nailed it. Disney is so bereft of talent now. It's crazy.
Wow… that chopping vegetables wall art really doesn’t belong there. That was obviously a directive from above to “add something more from the movie” and there was literally nothing to add that would make sense.
The one thing I really love about this is the animatronic characters. Like their detail and movements are so nice, free and fluid. The Imagineers did an impeccable job on them. That’s like the only thing I really give credit here
The screens aren't even the problem for me. A lot of Universal Studio's park rides rely pretty heavily on screens as well, and they're fun! The problem is the lack of adventure and danger. This reads as the plot of a cartoon for preschoolers. "Go search for all our friends so we can have a party" type thig. It's pretty bland, and has nothing to offer anyone over the age of 5 as far as engaging content. Sure it's pretty, but it's horribly forgettable. I went on the original Splash Mountain when I was about 7, and I still have pretty vivid memories of part of it: especially the end. Was I a little creeped out by the themes of the story? Yes, but not enough that it makes the huge change necessary. It didn't ruin my experience at the parks or anything.. I just don't understand why companies think everything needs to be "safe" nowadays. It's kinda insulting when you think about it.
Just wondering. Have Disney completely got over with their alligator and crocodile fear? I remember after that two year old got attack by that alligator Disney went complete hysteria and removed every alligator and crocodile reference of anything in their rides. I see Louis is being used for Splash Mountain, have they returned alligators and crocodiles in their rides since than?
When the Tower of Terror in CA Adventure was replaced with the Guardians of the Galaxy ride, I was livid. However, that new ride -- despite me still very much loving and missing TOT and having zero connection to GOTG -- is pretty darn fun. A worthy successor, although I still want TOT back to this day. This Bayou ride, however...Tiana deserves better. I enjoy Princess and the Frog, so I had hoped that MAYBE this new ride would be at least enticing when POV videos were out, but I feel empty watching this. The Winnie the Pooh ride next door to Splash Mountain has more personality to it than this. I've certainly outgrown Winnie the Pooh, but the one time I rode it (because we had one small child in our group that day), it brought back memories of the heffalumps and woozles from the 70's film that I saw as a kid, and it was a nice feeling. I need to save up for Tokyo to keep singing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da going forward. My laughing place is now on the other side of the world.
Barbara Bouza was also creative lead of imagineering for a lot of the ride and she was a misfit for WDI. She was a Chapek hire and left in March- probably because Disney realized she was part of the problem.
This is what happens when you put a parachuted-in corporate hotel designer in charge of Imagineering. (For extra irony, the former head of Imagineering ended up in her old job and is being hired out to Universal)
It looks nice, but story wise, it's boring. I remember a commentor mentioned in the POV video mentioning why Disney added Cuban music in the ride and when I looked at it a second time, I hear the salsa music. Isn't this suppose to be the music of New Orleans? The climax of the ride was also boring. They couldn't get one of the light bugs to tell the riders "hey I know a shortcut to the party, follow me!" Up you go and when you get to the top he finshes off "Trust me, I know where we are going" Fall from there.
My question is... why didnt they get rid of Tom Sawyers Island and build a whole NEW ride there? Then they could have had New Orleans near the Haunted Mansion. They would have also had the space to build a Coco attraction I'd imagine. Tiana just deserved her own ride to be made; not a reskin where Disney is forced into a box as to what kind of layout it can have. She deserved a story with stakes and build up!!! Imagineers stayed rediculously surface level with this storyline when they should... ahem.... "dig a little deeper." ❤
Worst part of this is. The doctor is Literately the Best part of the movie. He is the thing that drives everything forward. And in a way he is a bit of a tragic character. As he isn't really driven by greed, more a sense of self preservation. He isn't trying to sell out the souls of the city to gain power. He is trying to sell out the souls to Save his own soul. A conman trying to do one last con before everthing falls apart. A tragic tale about making deals and the consequences that come from it. Instead they focus on Tania who shouldn't be in the swamp to begin with. Like swaps are not really known for producing flavors and stuff like that. And call me racist, but she most likely should go to a farm. Seems like the best place to find new taste. Combine this with the old fat women, who only existed in the movie to act as a Micguffin and guide the characters along. Hell she just exist to shrink you....for no reason.... then make you big....for no reason... other then hey we need to fill in 1/3 of the ride. And we can't get away with posting dumb walls with painting that is going to chip in like 3 months. Worst part is this is as expected. A update that adds nothing and is just a waste of time. Maybe they should just tear this shit down and replace it with an actual rollercoster like most budget parks do. As in the end that is what they want to become. A budget park for the Stupid rich people.
I remember before splash mountain was even being discussed about being revamped, people were saying they could change it to Princess and the frog and have the drop be friends from the other side. People were begging for that drop before Disney was even mentioning replacing splash mountain. I honestly didn’t really like the original splash mountain cuz it just creeped me out but I think the story telling going down into the scary area of splash mountain was always perfect for how the ride was set up. I can’t believe they made a thrill ride like this so underwhelming.
Destroyed! Splash Mountain was more than an excellent water attraction, but also an important life lesson our children, their children, and so on, need to learn if they believe their home life has brought them nothing but trouble. You can't run away from trouble. There ain't no place that far. And they have ruthlessly stripped the innocent attraction of it for false reasons and a senseless, pointless plot with no tension, suspense, excitement, or satisfaction, leaving us at the mercy of too many things that have been keeping us down, that we never wanted in our lives. So Splash Mountain, Song of the South, especially Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear, need to come back.
To be fair the Dinosaur area is kinda lame, but at least it's thematically appropriate. I only watched Encanto once, but were there a buncha animals in that movie that I forgot about?
They should of had "The Shadow man Returns" and its up to us to help save Tiana. The drop is the "Are you ready!"

This ride does not look horrible however it does NOT live up to Splash Mtn. Tiana deserves a ride, well Dr Faucilier deserves a ride. It’s ridiculous that this doesn’t have Faucilier in it.
Probably because his voodoo magic is seen as "problematic"
Isn’t the old lady’s magic voodoo?
Tiana has no place in Frontier Land. She belongs in New Orleans Square.
@@KetsubanSolo How is it problematic when it is completely accurate?
Ditto to that. The animatronics themselves are quite nice. But how they are used? Not so much.
What it should have been all along was a restaurant, complete with a Chuck-E-Cheese style animatronic band, with Tiana herself doing some of the singing.
Guests: "Wait. Didn't you just make a boring version of Splash Mountain?"
Disney: "No. We made it better by making it less problematic!"
Guests: "But, we liked Splash Mountain better."
Disney: "Then you're all (redacted)s."

Hilarious comment!
Actual Black American folklore replaced with SWPL version. Did they keep the tin-eared Avery Island, Louisiana connection in the end?
@@ultimatedisneycruiselinefa5112Expectations are everything. This is a total downgrade compared to Splash Mountain.
Honestly it feels and looks like an insincere replacement of Splash Mountain, this would've been a whole lot better if it was a new ride BUILT SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE PARK
because we all know how phony, disingenuous and pretentious Disney under Bob Iger is and this just embodies his pompous out-of-touch delusions of grandeur and anti-consumer attitude
Didn’t they plan to replace this when it was chapek…?
@@SirBuzz "Knee incident"?

From a storytelling perspective this has a very kiddie show feel. I half expected someone to pop out and say "Olá!, I'm Dorra. We need you help to form our animal band!"
I thought the exact same thing too. When I was watching it this morning, I was like, this honestly seems like something I would watch on Disney Junior, or Playhouse Disney. It definitely gave a "toddler" ride feel.
All it needs is a giant mouse curser and were good to go XD
Exact thing I thought! It feels like they tried turning it into a kiddie coaster…
It might be okay but it wasn't worth destroying Splash Mountain for it.
dr facilier should have been in it with the best song for the prelude to the drop.
That would've been sick. "Are you ready?" Right before the drop. Little bit meta.
That and have us enter the mouth of the big Voodoo Mask right as we take the splash?
So they eradicated Splash Mountain, but also desecrated Tiana and Princess and the Frog. They had well over 70 animatronics on Splash, this has 17
disney getting rid of zip a dee do da, is absolutely sickening. seriously we live in hell world
This would've been a fine addiction to the park. But they didn’t have to tear down Splash Mountain to build it. It just leaves a sour taste in people's mouths.
I wouldn’t even say that…to be honest I see this ride and I can only think of how this ride could so easily be better with the same IP. Just a shame.

I'm pretty sure he was excluded because they didn't want people to complain about his voodoo reinforcing negative black stereotypes or SOMETHING
Yeah, if they made this ride scary, it could have been a huge hit. Instead they made it G-rated.
Tiana fits a kids ride a lazy river for under 5s NOT splash Mountin' They need to put it back and all quit
I think Disney KNOWS this ride isn't good and it's going to disappoint. Which is why they're promoting the crap or of it on their marketing channels right now. Gotta convince the sheeple masses is actually good, right?
They need to get fired and replaced for such a terrible attitude like that.

It's weird.
Because then Tiana would have to be a frog for much of the ride.

Bob Iger has the anti-Midas touch.
@@colbystearns5066Midas realized his error though. Iger has yet to do so and likely never will
@@elvickRULES You’re probably right, good point.
@SirBuzz Oh I know the back story. My suggestion would have been a nice compromise but I guess the one side just wanted their way or the highway 🙄
This ride celebrating a minority/employee-owned company feels performative.
and some of their recent releases complaining about things like capitalism scream irony to this ride for running a business when you think about it.
It not really Splash Mountain anymore wow
Yet CMs will still praise this part of the attraction. Irony.
The whole reskin is performative bro.
The biggest downgrade Disney has ever done.
On par with the figment ride
Journey Into Your Imagination has something to say about that, but this is a close second.
I dunno, I still kinda miss seeing the exterior of The Golden Girls' house at MGM Studios.
Ironically, SotS had the 1st black actor to win an Honorary Oscar, yet Iger wants to pretend it never happened.
Can you buy it? I know it can be bought in Japan because of the copyright expired, but it's banned in the US.
The last time I saw a copy for sale it was like $600.
@@exodous02 It's not banned. Disney just refuses to sell it again.

The Special Spice song sounds like if the songwriters of Disney's Wish tried to do their version of Jump Up, Super Star! from Super Mario Odyssey.
Imagine hearing Dr Facilier and the ghouls ominously sing, “Are you ready?” As you take the plunge? Such a wasted opportunity for a truly mesmerizing experience.
Indeed
It would have made for a FAR better dark ride
Plus we could have had the tunnel before the drop decorated with blacklight voodoo masks and dolls. The hanging bottles don’t even have lights in them!

@@chrishood2144 Right? Epic. The NEW Haunted Mansion. If only Disney cared about integrity (ie profits, to them).
They murdered Splash Mountain for this…..
Of course they destroyed Splash Mountain. It was a ride based on stories from African American folklore, which means it was racist in the eyes of the woke. So in turn they now based the ride on a movie based on a Russian fairy tale, but blackwashed so they can still pander to black people.
They are trying to turn those who mug families at gas stations into Disney customers
It was never racist. That was a bullshit lie.
And changed all the character names...which means they can be Trademarked and locked down. Forever. (Cue "Walt Disney Pictures" logo whistle)
Um no, the african stories were used in a movie about an enslaved black man who was happy to be enslaved. Thats one of the main issues, how did you butcher all of this?
I'm black and I hate how these woke idiots just assume I want only black themed projects and tell what's racist and what's not....I'm sick of it too
Disney: "We are storytellers". Also Disney: This shit.
1:42 I think that’s Disney’s problem in a nutshell nowadays, they’ve been playing things TOO SAFE for TOO LONG.
If splash mountain was racist, so was the whole structure of the ride. How could Disney let the confederate splash mountain building with all the racist slavery history still stand. They should have destroyed the entire structure and started from scratch, because all I see is racist rocks
Hah. Good one. For those who don't know Song of the South had no slaves and was set AFTER the Civil War.
So ... a rabbit, bear and a fox are racist. Gotcha.

So true!
Sorry, most of those aren’t animatronics. They’re animated figures that barely bop around, like the possum show in “A Goofy Movie.” Those are even more noticeable next to the impressive animatronics of Tiana and Louis.
Lester's Possum Park has a lot more character than this. They were still kicking even when the animatronics were malfunctioning XD
This would have been a cute 4 minute mini flume in Fantasyland maybe. As a splash replacement, it’s terrible.
It’s not bad tho
Truth.
What hasn’t been destroyed by Great Horned Mickey?
Yeah, he was the best part of that movie.
I like the beginning and end of Princess and the Frog, but idk why it just feels like the middle of the movie falls flat for some reason
I thought Mother Gothel and King Candy were good villains.
@@classicalrenaissancerebelcuz they're frogs lmao
It’s a strawman for someone to say that you’re not a true Disney fan for not liking the ride.
The other fallacy used is "it's the same ride, it's just nostalgia you're seeing". When you call them out on the nostalgia fallacy, they usually just call you the R word for liking an R ride.
Those people lost credibility a LONG TIME AGO. These days, I'd say TRUE Disney fans are the ones trying to get Iger out!
If a park can do whatever it wants without criticism, or else you're not a Disney fan, they sure can half-ass everything and up-charge everything. Good thing there are delusional fanatics who think the best way to support a company is to let them destroy everything without complaint.
They feed the customer pablum and demand high praise for it. They want "fans" to be unthinking and uncritical.
Those ppl who say that are NOT real fans, just sheep. Every company has put out a stinker or two

Unfortunately I ll never go back to Disneyland it's too expensive. But I'd love to hear people go on this ride and just calmly ( not obnoxiously) sing zippity doo da. If they do nothing hateful, and get kicked off the ride, theres an obvious message.

Yes they did🤣🤣🤣
Universal is looking better and better. Only good thing to come out of disney parks is how great Universal looks in comparison 🤣🤣
Why couldn’t we just have had a brand new ride altogether? The Br’ers and the PatF characters can coexist.
Disney: No, Song of the South is racist you bigot!
Disney wants to erase Song of the South.
When Iger gets kicked out, they may not when a real leader, who would respect every work, can end this foolishness.

Next time I go back to Orlando, I'm going to Universal.
it feels alittle off.
Lackluster is the norm for the Disney brand since 2016.
nothing of this is deserving to replace Splash Mountain, they either could've turned it into a separate small dark ride since it didn't have much material to fill up the space from this at least or put the animatronics in New Orleans with only the Celebration sign at the entrance of it and theme aspects of it instead, shame, but not surprising
It's crazy.
Much as I'd love to embrace this new ride (Tiana')... and despite incredible music, animatronics and effects.... it seems a fraction of what once was.
For an attraction based around a character whose speciality and passion is food, it sure is flavourless.
That’s like the only thing I really give credit here
Shanghai Disneyland had the tech first
The screens aren't even the problem for me.
Disney is a children’s company. Wasn’t always like that but it gets more & more kiddie with each passing year.
I just watched the Disney park pov. I had to force myself to watch the glow paint screens and fairy lights. There’s soooo many blank spaces.
Tokyo still has Splash Mountain 🤪
It looks nice, but story wise, it's boring. I remember a commentor mentioned in the POV video mentioning why Disney added Cuban music in the ride and when I looked at it a second time, I hear the salsa music. Isn't this suppose to be the music of New Orleans? The climax of the ride was also boring. They couldn't get one of the light bugs to tell the riders "hey I know a shortcut to the party, follow me!" Up you go and when you get to the top he finshes off "Trust me, I know where we are going" Fall from there.
The good news is it will remain unpopular and finishing the day off with Splash Mountain will still be about 5-10 minute wait in line 😅
Accurate, I couldn't understand what the cajuns were saying.
This is the best we can hope for from Disney... Take something beloved and turn it into something Meh.
Also keep in mind they’re aiming to replace the Dinosaur area at Animal Kingdom to replace it with Encanto. ENCANTO. Put that crap in Epcot instead!
To be fair the Dinosaur area is kinda lame, but at least it's thematically appropriate. I only watched Encanto once, but were there a buncha animals in that movie that I forgot about?
@@KetsubanSolo There was the one kid who could communicate with animals I guess.
Their biggest mistake is redesigning a ride around one of the least popular princesses.
People actually pay money to go on rides like these? How embarrassing.
RIP Splash Mountain, you died just to be replaced by something underwhelming. Can best summarize Disney as a whole
