I'd say that traditional spec esp's are a gibson les paul done right. Same specs, full thickness mahogany body, no weight relief, maple cap. Mine came with alnico ii pros. The specs are identical, but it sounds and plays better than any gibson that I've played. And I've played a lot of them.

    • @thedondeluxe6941
      @thedondeluxe6941 5 лет назад +1

@@mikeimmonen6619 Yeah, I agree the ESP stuff is very good! And probably better built :-) But there seems to be this x-factor in the sound of a Gibson that I just don't hear anywhere else. Wouldn't mind an ESP or Edwards LP though, they're great guitars.

  • @mark-dietz

Great review, and great playing too bro! I chose the 50s cherry burst. I tell ya, buying that guitar was an experience in itself. Going back and forth between the 60s and 50s, store to store, and choosing the one that just spoke to me almost before I even plugged it in. Not to mention dropping 3k+ on a guitar (Canadian) But man, these are worth it. I had been looking at used LPs for about a year and there was always something...not well taken care of, or modified, or weight relieved, or gimmicky. I almost gave up until a luthier working on my strat said...Don't confuse 2019 LPs with 2019 LPs, (what?) and explained that the new line came out after this new guy took over. Im glad I waited because this guitar is effin dreamy! My whole house smelled like new Gibson for the first day. Like a cross between and new car, fresh lacquer, and a sawmill! Like it moved in and made its presence known! The guitar is flawless, and plays and sounds awesome! I actually think the thicker neck adds a little resonance, and the humbuckers are just a little warmer than the slightly hotter ones on the 60s. To each their own though. I have smaller hands and the thicker neck only took minutes to get used to, and now I love it so don't let that scare you away from the 50s chunky neck. The only LP I ever played a lot is my bros 78 custom, and this guitar doesn't play second fiddle by any means. Its truly a great instrument! If you have the money, buy one! One day 50 years from now some hot shot guitar player kid will pull grand dads old guitar out of the case and think he discovered the holy grail. Its a keeper!

Not a fan of Gibson’s prices, but you can’t deny how pretty and iconic the Les Paul is.

I feel you about those older Gibsons from the past decade. Only one I ever bought, I felt I had been ripped off cause I'm someone who don't have a lot of money, and had just spent over a grand on a guitar and it needed to go right back into the shop and have some serious work done. The bridge had to be worked on, the frets were actually pretty decent, but the guitar needed a truss rod adjustment out the box and I ended up having to get the pots worked on too cause they were scratchy. I was so angry that I had just spent over a thousand dollars and had to put it right back in the shop, but I was glad to get the guitar worked on due to the neck. Only guitar I could afford with a fat neck profile, which made it worth it. I still am considering swapping the pickups though cause I've never been thrilled with the stock 490R/498R set.

6:08. Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Prelude of Light.
Don't think you can't sneak that one past me, Fluff, I got this.

I am right there with ya. Went in to get some new strings for my Strat last weekend--left with a 2021 60's LP also in Bourbon Burst....WTH? LOL Almost forgot the strings. Hardest part was telling my wife.

Last week I tested out three different 2019 Standards at Guitar Center in Little Rock. Between the three, one had pickups all crooked, another had glue on the rosewood, the third had a toolmark in the rosewood like it was on a clamp or something.

Hey! I recognize that song. Love what you did with it. Got a hint of Mastodon peaking through also. A+

Oh, it's funny, I bought the same guitar under very similar circumstances, my impressions are very similar, and I published a video about it today, before seeing this one.
It's funny how Gibson just murdered it with this guitar!

The new LPs are nice, I bought the 50s. Turned up with a nice setup, actually in tune too 😆

I love my Standard 60's. However, I have swapped the bridge pup out for a more modern sounding 500T and swapped the Grover buttons out for Hipshot keystone traditional style. Thinking about swapping the reflector knobs for dark amber but we'll see.

That looks nice and sounds great! It is hard to find one of those guitars that speaks to you immediately but when you do....buy it if you can asap. That happened with my 2006 Explorer. I played it about 3 minutes and told them to go get the case because I'm taking it home!

That first tune you play sounds like an old Guitar Hero 3 song called “Heir kommt Alex”.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? , „Die Toten Hosen“ Something I never thought would pop up under a Fluff video.
My inner German is quite happy now

Ok plastic creme vs metal jack plate in chrome. Did the original 60s have metal jack plate in chrome, or plastic creme like in this video (and mine that just arrived today AAA top). I know, just a minor detail but curious on the original 60s.

Lol, same problem and taste. Walked into a guitar shop to buy a beater guitar and saw one hanging up, heard all the horror stories (and saw a couple) of the 2000 era LP's and figured what the hell I'll check it out, I alteady own a 95 LP. Suffice it to say I now have a 2019 Bourbon Burst Les Paul and don't regret it, great guitar.😂

YYYYAAAAAYYYYY! U finally did a review of the instrument! U didn’t waist a video bitching about what everyone has to say about Gibson! U gave an honest review about an instrument u believe in! That’s what I subscribed to this channel for! Not to hear bitching and complaining about what everyone else thinks! I wanna know what fluff thinks! 😁
