Ive got a 50's standard in heritage cherry sunburst and absolutely in love with it. Apparently the missus knew I was going to be walking out of the shop with it as soon as I played the first string. lol. I only went in for a nose as I didn't realise the shop sold new Gibsons lol. I didn't even try the 60's standard even though I had the chance to. I just instantly fell in love with the 50's.

So years ago I bought 2004 a 50's Standard. Then I bought a Gold Top 50's made mid December 2019. Well the Gold Top neck is a big. So now I realize the 2004 Standard with no weight relief is a 60'S. Different but..... both are terrific.( I do prefer the 60's slimmer neck because of all my Strats are not as thick.) nice video.

Both are sick but I prefer the sixties sound cuz I play more metal and rock. Thanks for the comparison 🤘🤘 I just ordered the 60's but wasn't sure if I choose the right one. Great playing thanks !!
Yes, the 50s sounds great and warm. Excellent for clean and mid gain. Perfect iconic Classic hard rock tone. BUT for higher gain... the 60s is perfect because it doesn't get muddy. I think the 60s is very close to active pickups but with a lot more clarity, texture and dynamics.
There are no differences between them besides the knobs, the pickups, the tuners, the neck profile and the colors. :) I would say, almost everything is different. Amazing playing btw.
Great video! I currently own a Gibson Les Paul Studio 2020 in Tangerine burst. I absolutely love it! But, I am now ready to invest in a standard. Both of these guitars right here sound equally awesome to me. The 60’s is a bit brighter while the 50’s is warmer and fuller in tonality. I personally prefer to have a slimmer taper on the neck, and the Grover machine heads. I would also like to have a standard in the heritage cherry sunburst color as well. I wish the necks were interchangeable. This is quite challenging. Do you know if it would be difficult to swap out the vintage deluxe tuners for the Grover’s on the 50’s model? I wouldn’t want to alter the hole size or leave any exposed holes neither. Gibson guitars are works of art that can depreciate in value if damaged, and I really just don’t want to tamper too much with them.
Great, I have the 50s. I always think a fairer comparison between lower and higher gain pickups is to do what you did but also do a comparison where you up the the gain on the amp for the lower output pups so they are both pushing the amp at much the same level.
Prefer the 50's. The neck I believe has a bit more girth to it. Love those Cluson Tuners. Either way. Agree both are c awesome guitars. Great Demo. Machismo Gracias.🙂👍🎸
The mids of the 50’s are way more warm and sustain longer on your pinched harmonics, but the 60’s sounds brighter and more open. However it seemed to not sustain as long on your pinched harmonics. Could’ve been the way you played each guitar differently, but I like the 60s neck with the 50’s pickups 😂 looks like I may have to swap mine idk they both sound sick af tbh
Nice video, I am looking to buy a new les paul and this helped out alot. This is the only video that I could find highlighting the differences in sound back to back with a playing style that I want to hear (rock/metal.)

Thank you for posting this video. Just what I was looking for. Your tone and playing are both excellent. Not sure I understand you signal chain completely but the tone is truly outstanding.
I think the 60's has better clarity. Maybe because the mids were fatter on the 50's? But the 50's seemed to sustain better. It's hard to say for sure, but I noticed that you were more inspired to hold notes longer on the 50's. A lot of times if you look at what you are inspired to play by a guitar it'll give you what you need to know to define the differences.
For mids yeah, but also because those 60's Burstbucker 61's has alnico 5 magnets in and those keeps sound tight and focused. I have try'd burstbucker 2 with alnico 5 in it and it was tighter than with normal stock alnico 2 magnet.
I own several models with the 50's aesthetic so I decided to purchase the 60's and it rips. Almost has the shred feeling to it minus that fact that it's still a Les Paul.
I know it's a year late, but it's more than the neck.. You got different pickups, different wiring. Pickups are easy to swap, but changing the wiring requires you to unbend some legs on the pots (which is something I wouldn't want to deal with) Then of course if you care about looks, you got different grade tops (although it can vary quite a bit, AA maple top 60s sometimes seem to get AAA+) and colours
Im a strat player looking for an LP. Like the looks of the tuners on the 60 better. Will probably also like the slimmer neck. Unfortunately I think the 50 sounds a tad better.
What this amazing video proves is only that when you put your 10k hours in the playing any guitar sounds awesome. Alnico 2 (50’) or 5 (60’) don’t really matter at that point. Great playing, thanks man.
The Alnico V is more defined good for chorus and gain cuts thru mix better , The Burstbucker 2 is great for classic rock one of my favorite pickups in bridge
Both sound great and your playing is awesome! I know that you stated that Rock is what you do but I would be able to hear more difference between the two guitars with a clean setting. I’m going to go play both of these and compare them on Saturday of this week and will probably bring one of them home! They’re both good color and fair flame. I have a 2017 standard, but on these newer 50s vs 60s isn’t the 50 neck a fatter C while the 60s is a slim taper? I could be wrong because I never played either.....
Ambas suenan genial! Tony, seguro que no llevan agujeros? Son Custom Shop? En que pesos andan?
Ladrirules Rocknroll segurisimo q no llevan agujeros.

I wanna learn your style of playing. We already have a bit in common. How can I learn your licks most efficiently? Btw. that goes without saying, great playing! Hope you reply!
Just opened a Patreon page man ! Look for Tony Martinez
Hermano Ready to buy a 60s 2020 or 50s 2020 Would you say that the neck size will Make that much difference to someone who’s playing ability is not that strong I like the sound of both of the guitars thank you hope to hear a reply from you
How was your final election?
Nice tone! What amp/effects are you using ?
The 60's one sounds crunchy whereas the 50's one is more mellow!
Gracias por este video. Estaba buscando la diferencia exelente
@tonymartinez what colour is the 60s standard in this video please?
Ouh man no idea
I think it’s Bourbon Burst.

Hello, what about the frets? how do you feel it?
Not a bad demo mate, nice playing, but with this much gain its only natural to me that A5 pickups will sound better, or 'right'. Might like to hear some cleans and crunch, and better still, both guitars with identical pickups. Many people will swap them out anyway.
Very nice video, I was wondering if you can explain how is this video mixed? The mic from the camera records you talking, but the guitar sound is recorded by software on your laptop/pc, and then later you just combine it together in some video editor? Thanks!
Ozren Ocic yes thats exactly it
@@TonyMartinez Alright, thanks! But how do you hear yourself playing while you record, just dry guitar? Or through monitor speakers?
Ozren Ocic studio monitors
@@TonyMartinez Great mate, thanks, you've helped a lot. Fantastic playing btw
And are you using only built-in mic from the camera for vocals? Or do you have a seperate mic?
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
What amp are you runnin through brother??
2019-2020 ... no tendras problema
Tony Martinez que bueno
Nice comparison! But i guess if both had same pickups, there would be no difference.
not always!! different woods necks tuners everything and anything can change the sound of a guitar slightly
The little thicker neck on one and heavier tuner's in the other (60)
Amazing playing!
I have a 2017 standard, but on these newer 50s vs 60s isn’t the 50 neck a fatter C while the 60s is a slim taper? I could be wrong because I never played either.....
It is 50's thicker neck 60's more mass in the tuner's The wiring harness's might be different Pups of course
Did you use pedals for this vidéo ? Thanks
50s my kind of tone predilection
I like the neck better on 60s LP versus fatter baseball 50s neck and price less expensive as well.
Les Paul 50s is for me. I love fat neck.
Hb or p-90 is my question 😉
Noe Cuesta fat neck is it...I would get p90 and hb
Shouldn't the necks be different? You mean the 2019 50s Original doesn't actually have a 50s profile neck?
How’s the quality control on these guitars?
Daniel S these are some of the best Les Paul’s I’ve played and I’ve owned 7...They definitely got the quality issues sorted out on the 2019 lineup.
Preciosidades!!!!
50's is blues, 60's is metal
I love the sound of the 50’s but the neck was too thick for me so I got the 60’s
Same here, but if I can get get a deal on the 50's I'm getting it.
Debes hablar del peso también ! Pues es importante
Need to talk about the weight of each guitar also bro!! It’s something very important too.
One of each would be nice
60s is the best!
Ambas suenan genial! Tony, seguro que no llevan agujeros? Son Custom Shop? En que pesos andan?
Ladrirules Rocknroll segurisimo q no llevan agujeros.
Thanks man!
What about the frets bro?
Berto no he notado eso especialmente
What r you playing threw
I love my 60s
Brutal!
Your sound comes out of that THR II back there?
Luis Vidal nope in this case is Neural plugin
@@TonyMartinez oh, all right. I was very surprised that it sounds very full and round. Will you demo the THR II?
Luis Vidal I did a demo for a shop but yeah maybe I can run over some tones on my channel. Sounds very good too
@@TonyMartinez thank you! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sound the same to me xD both awesome
50S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quillo , has mejorado tela el inglés! Ahora es mucho más fluent, jeje. Un abrazo
joserra79 haha doing my best
60s sounds thick. 50s sounds clean.
Did the 60s has chunky neck than 50s?
music Of nature naj
Excellence
