Thanks Sky for promoting my channel :) IMO, the reason why defend is hard in bf1 is because the faster speed = wider turn mechanics which is completely different than the previous BF titles. The chasing plane can easily follow your switches by making a tighter turn with a break. That's why attack plane is so good at dogfight now simply because it has a tighter turn than a fighter under a normal speed. You will find it much harder to throw off an AP than a fighter because of the smaller turning radius AP has, meanwhile the turn rate difference between fighter and AP is very close after the may update.
El Mas lol it's funny that Boss is becoming infamous for those dillons but his awareness and skills are also top notch. His switches are the smoothest and most accurate around.
A nice tactic that pilots used to lose a planes in their six it's get lost un the sun and makes blind the bandit on their six, so it's hard for them to get a shot on you
Nice channel. My struggle always seems to be finishing enemies off. I'm getting better at staying on a tail and not losing an enemy during turns, but I feel like I spend a full 90 seconds peppering the plane with intermittent fire and never get the destroy/kill. Meanwhile, someone gets on my tail and I'm down in 3 to 5 seconds even while doing evasive maneuvering. I'm assuming that the problem is my aim, but I've tried starting on the wings, the tail and the body and can't seem to find a sweet spot on rapidly knocking down a plane during a dogfight.
How long do you take to start firing after you've picked your target? Do you attack as soon as they're in range or you wait for a good line of shot? It's important to not alert the other pilot to your presence until you are in a really good distance and have them in your aim. This is how I do. Take your time, get close and only then you start raining down bullets on them. I particularly always aim for the pilot but many people go for the wings to cripple their capability to maneuver. Another tip: just because you destroyed the plane it doesn't mean you've got the kill. That's why you should keep firing until the pilot is dead.
Thanks for the tip. I probably fire too early, as I generally start spraying as soon as I have them lined up in my crosshair (sometimes way out in the distance). I saw another vid yesterday that suggested waiting to close in on a more effective killing distance and I'll definitely try that next time out. However, my previous experience when I'm closer reveals that I have difficulty overshooting the target or if they make a sudden turn I lose sight of them altogether if they leave my field of view. I've been using Sky's technique to just continue with my turn, weaving high and low to moderate/maximize speed and turning rate, but frequently they never show up in my field of view again and within a minute they're on my tail and I'm dead in 2 seconds. I assume they're switching to a vertical loop at some point, disengaging and coming back in from another angle, but even using audio cues I'm still not quite adept at tracking where they are in relation to my plane.
Maybe you fly too fast. It's crucial to always keep track of your speed since the faster you are the longer it takes to make a turn. When tailing someone or getting tailed you must keep that in mind. Many people try to shake you off by slowing down as much as they can in order to make you fly by them and turn the cat into the mouse. If you are too fast, it works, if you're not, they become a sitting duck.
Entirely possible. Sky recommends not using the brake ever, to keep up mobility. I'm usually full throttle until I get behind someone then I try to not manipulate up or down. I've done much better than I used to when I rode the brake all the time trying to turn sharper, but I have a ways to go. That split second shift from gunning to rolling to slow speed instead of braking, then hoping I still have sight of the enemy when I come out of a roll . . . befuddling.
At 3:40 you make a very good point. You are using inverted rudders in a sort of high yoyo to get an angle, but this way you get inside his circle and lose sight of him. How he knew to switch at the right time, good question. The problem is that the lack of radar prevent you to know if your defensive switch is getting you any advantage. Should you keep the new direction or switch again because you see from the radar the tailing plane is late? So sometimes you switch again and you find yourself just in front of his guns. The lack of radar is stupid. And if you add this to the new strange mechanic where the turning rate depends on speed but not the turning radius......
I think I’m a relatively good pilot, and the best way to deal with seat switchers is rockets, and (if you don’t have rockets) get ahead of their plane, this will force them to renter the pilot seat and all you need is to slow back down again.
i mean if you go in front of them it wont force them to go to the front you are just giving them an advantage since the turret can rotate 360 degrees so it can shoot you if you are in front of them
your backround gameplay is a lot more fluid and seems like youve gained some more confidence....getting beat by piers is part of a learning curve that takes a good player to embrace, which is where most half decent players fall flat, they think they are the best therefore would rather give you abuse and a list of excuses as to how or why you got the better of them, this is common in all bf games tho. gg's, good topic!
Flying is by far the weakest part of my game. I'm ok but I've been on the receiving end of more than a few ass whoopings by pilots who are just ridiculously good. I'm glad you're getting insight off the top guys hopefully you can impart what you learn in your upcoming videos.
will you be sharing any more information that you get from other dogfighters? also what other channels should I check out if I want to improve because flying is my favorite thing to do in bf1
Big Boss' channel is in the description. He is one of the game's top DFers on PC and he uploads a lot of his DF practice sessions with other top pilots. I will pass along anything I learn but I will do it with a level of respect to the other pilots. My plane videos are not done. I'm probably more info BF piloting than ever.
Axel Bernal Yes. DF mechanics do not change between flying with a KB+mouse vs flying with a controller. Only difference is that you can switch faster with a KB+mouse but you don't really have to worry about that since you and your opponent are both using controller on PS4.
I'm pretty good at flying, once in a long while I will get one pilot that's a pro and kills me. But the majority of pilots in this game aren't good enough to beat me.
Are you using the fighter? I'm pretty good at bombing but I have a problem in dogfights, I recently switched to camera roll off and I mess up and crash or lose them. Do you have any tips my friend?
This games dogfighting is absolute DOGSHIT. Seriously, 9 times out of 10 you will not be able to shake someone from your tail unless a friendly of some kind is backing you up. It’s ridiculous, the skill level required in this game is very low compared to the previous games.
Yes the god damn radius of the turns are huge 😆 and rolling scissors are a thing of the past where you could play with the speed to cut and also regain speed fast it just don't work like that anymore and the braking physics are just wrong!! Its like braking in a car now.
widen your view in controls....if you want to see where your persuer is....and let the small fish go....they are worth allowing to try and attack you first...some just want to learn to fly....im all for that, and others are just transport....i wont kill them untill we start losing.....its too easy.....everyone has the fear of better pilots, use it to learn.
Can u counter-kill a hunter plane which following u, it's really annoy when shot down by a hunter plane in two shots and only one shot, the plane is usually unable to manual.
Dude wtf. How are you turning and Doing barrels rolls with split S’s like it’s nothing. Is this shit only on pc. You can’t that on xbox one. Or am I tripping?
Max out your sensitivity if you're flying with controller. There's 2 settings for sensitivity, vehicle sensitivity and plane control sensitivity in advanced control options. It'll take time to adjust because your aim will be much more sensitive but you need the enhanced maneuverability for dogfight. I'll do an updated settings and controls video soon
You need to work on your aim its not that good, and switching from 3rd person to first person is not necessary you only loose time doing that.Besides that nice video ;)
If you fly roll cam off, there are times when switching to first person can help you match your opponent's wingline more easily. I have switch cam bound to a thumb button on the mouse. You don't lose any time, you just have to get used to doing it.
I don't understand the hate against seat-switching. As much I'd hate the dildo-killer figters with +30hp instarepair and one-shot airship rockets that reload in seconds and destroy a full hp heavy bomber with just a one burst. Any fighter complaining about seat switching is just whining about how their cheesy little plane is compromised with simple maneuver and without it attack planes would have absolutely zero change against viable fighter players. - Seat switching is the only viable way to defend against fighters as rocket-variant fighter is the cheesiest OP plane of all. By good seat-switch, you can repel even skillful fighters, even kill them pretty fast. - Also seat switching makes the attack plane pilot vulnerable. I've been one-shotted at the moment my seat switch animation starts by getting couple rapid headshots. - Seat switcher and fighter pilot engage into high risk, but high reward situation in the situation; totally balancing the situation. Especially when considering how agile fighters are and what a cheesy firepower and instarepair they have (and especially the dildo-killer variant). And even though attack plane pilot would win the fire exchange, he might still crash due to broken wing and getting disabled. Something you cannot instarepair (unlike dildo-killer fighter, which can repair itself by just waiting or repairing 2,5x faster than any other plane). So complaining about seat switching is ridiculous. I give no mercy for fighters as their planes are probably the most diverse, agile, hardest to kill, smallest targets in air, fastest, and most powerful in firepower against planes in the whole game. And you can even kill infantry with them after practice.

oX_-oBIGBOSS-FoX I've watched some of your dogfights and I have started using dillons in pub DF.

You hate seat switchers? Well I hate dogfighters!
Finally the right mindset
There is a sweet way to deal with seat switchers. Rockets. They seat switch and you rock the attack plane out of the sky.
Yep
Exactly what i do
dude we've flown together.
Very humble gamer.

@@bidenobama1234 that’s true, I hadn’t discovered it yet when I wrote this comment, thanks for the correction!
For those wondering...the plane videos are not done.
any tank hunter gameplay coming and tips?

Skywalker Games I play on ps4 so can the information that i get from a pc gamer be executed the same way?

For the most part they can be, but there are some pc specific moves, pc gives you very very fine controls in terms of aiming and cutting.
Skywalker Games thank you, ill be looking forward to your future content

Dogfighting community? Is there a forum that I can join to be a part of the community?

The fucks a hunter plane
How do you like behind you? Can you do that on PS4?
h31sman L3
Great post and well explain. About time there video.
But what did you mean speed.
How tf do you turn the plane but not the camera?
idk but i really dont like it. very disorienting, the plane doing donuts around the crosshair.
I would like to fly with u bro I got a couple things I'd like to show u
